Do not use this company ever! In November of 2019 I purchased a solar install from Freedom Forever. I have a clay tile roof which would have lasted forever had Freedom Forever not destroyed my roof . I was so concerned about tile breakage prior to the install I sent a video of how to walk properly with foam pads on this type of roof to the contact I had at the time. During the sales call I was pointed to Freedom Forever's website and shown pictures of the type of install they did for tile roofs and was told that was how mine would be done. All the images on Freedom Forever's website had tile mounts for their installs. None had what I ended up with. Tile mounts are important as they do not break the integrity of the roof because that type of mount only replaces the one tile for each tile mount using a tile shaped mount or an S clip. This is not what I received. Freedom Forever uses subcontractors for parts of the process, including sales. None of these subcontractors were relaying information between each other. I pointed this out early in the process based on how the process proceeded. A lack of communication between people I spoke with resulted in failure after failure. The roofers came out to prep the roof. They didn't walk through anything they were about to do with me. They went on the roof and began work. By the time I came outside all tiles on the entire front part of my roof were removed. This was confusing to me as I could not understand why they had removed them for a tile mount system. Only the tiles where the mounts went should have been replaced should have been removed. They then laid down composite on the old felt that was under the tiles previously on the entire front part of the roof where they had removed the tiles. They broke many tiles during the removal process. They reiterated that all damage would be repaired when the job was finished. To this day that has not occurred and the damage has only increased. VRC roofing was the roofing contraction Freedom Forever sent out. Their lack of competency and the lack of communication to them were significant failings in the process. When they completed laying the composite I went up onto the roof and filmed defects and took pictures of defects sending this information to the contacts for my solar install still unclear why they were putting down comp. The contacts have changed many times through the process. It was like pin the tail on the donkey. I have never laid tile but I have worked for contractors laying composite roofs. I sent emails stating the roof would leak with the defects I'd seen remained. It still was not clear but I was expecting they would be putting back "ALL" the tiles which would return the integrity of my roof. The installers then came out. They were surprised to see all the tiles on the entire front of my roof removed. They said they normally use S clips. There was nothing for them to put the S-clips on because those are designed to fit onto a tile. I pointed out the construction defects to the first installation crew not knowing 3 other installation crews would eventually be involved in my project. They agreed there were issues as did every other install crew that came out. They installed solar panels but had to wait for the roofers to come back out to put the tiles back in place before they could run the conduit. When I asked how they were going to get tiles under the panels to reinstall the roof they had no answers. The roofers missed their first return appointment. Not showing up when scheduled would become the norm for VRC roofing all through the project. VRC eventually returned putting the tiles back in place. They tiled up to the edge of the solar panels but not under them as they had never intended on doing this. That is not a tile mount system that I was sold. I was and still am very upset by this. It also did nothing to restore the integrity of the tile roof. This left the entire section under my solar panels as composite instead of tile. I'd had a roof that would have lasted the life of the home. Now I have a roof that will last the life of the composite and the solar panels and I will have to replace the entire roof to make the tiles match at some future date. Something I would never have had to do had they installed what they sold me. In addition any roofer that understands wind-blown rain understands why full integrity of a roof is important. I began expressing my frustration that this wasn't what I was sold from the beginning. The removal of bird stops presented other issues that are still not addressed. Bird stops are tile shaped flashing that goes under the end of the tiles just above the gutters. Their purpose is to keep birds from nesting under the ends of the tiles by closing them off. With the integrity of the tiles broken and the bird stop removed, birds and leaves can now get under the tiles. A year and a half later I still have no connected panels and no tile roof. YOU WOULD HAVE TO BE OUT OF YOUR MIND TO GO WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!! I had signed with another solar company. The salesman's name was Kai Blakesley. Nothing happened for almost 5 months, just text messages saying that permits were being approved,etc. Then a roofer the salesman hired showed up, removed our roof and it rained that night flooding our home. We were out of our home for 6 months..the first 2 months we were forced to live in a travel trailer due to no rentals available! During the first week or so we were out, they put a new roof on AND solar panels. I could go on and on about this but...... To make a long story short....the salesman, Kai, that we had signed with had left the first company and went to work for Freedom Forever. So that he would not lose his commission, he cancelled our loan and contract with our original company then used our info to forge a contract with freedom AND forged loan docs with a different loan company via DocuSign. The terms weren't even the same as the original loan we had signed. Even made up a Wells Fargo checking account in my name for auto pay. I didn't have a Wells Fargo account and never have. One day I got a call from a lender named Loan Pal telling me that my auto payments were not going through. I told the person that I didn't have a loan with them. He said I did. At this point I thought someone had stolen my identity and I had 2 loans now. I had NO idea what Kai had done and still thought we were with our original solar company we had contracted with. Called Freedom and they were not helpful and insisted I signed the contract no matter what I told them. I even sent them copies of the contract and loan docs I had signed 4 1/2 months prior with the original solar and lender. They still didn't give a darn eventhough the fake loan docs had a warning on them saying " There is a problem with one or more signaturues on this loan". Talked to this new loan company and after they investigated they made a demand for Freedom to send the funds back to them. THEN FREEDOM FOREVER SUED ME! The damage to my home was almost 80,000 which my ins company had to pay. I was stuck with my deductable. Panels have been sitting on my roof not hooked up. I checked with the bldg Dept and they didn't get a permit until 6 weeks after they installed the panels. My attorney fees are astronomical. I know this is hard to believe but it is all true! They have not ever been interested in making this right but instead have chosen to use their deep pockets to sue me for solar panels I DID NOT ask or contract with them to install. Look at the Ca state license board page. Many, many citations and letters of admonishment. I can't make this up. This has been a nightmare that has gone on since May 2018 and won't go to court until Nov 2020. Once again, read the reviews here, go to cslb.ca.gov. and read the citations and other offenses. Go make a complaint on the Ca state license board page. This is so serious that their contractors license could be revoked! So..if you contract with them...they start your job...and they lose their license..you are stuck! JUST DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY WHATEVER YOU DO! IT COULD REALLY MAKE YOUR LIFE MISERABLE! Freedom Forever has really been botherd by these reviews. It use to be the when you googled freedom forever, Google reviews would also show up. They have now, on Google, separated their companies. They have now set it up with keywords that are more selective. So... Google freedom forever, Dublin... freedom forever, Temecula, freedom forever, Nv... freedom forever, az. Their IT guy is sharp! Yesterday, I noticed that when I googled freedom forever, it went to Freedom forever, Dublin. I posted this and now, today, if you Google Freedom Forever, you get NO Google reviews. This should tell you a little about the company's ethics. The owner is a crook...knows nothing about construction, and he admits this if you Google his name. He used to own an arena football team in Florida. He sold it and did not disclose all of the teams debt. The new owners have sued him over this. SERIOUSLY, DO YOU HOMEWORK! THIS IS THE WORST POSSIBLE COMPANY YOU COULD EVER GO WITH! UPDATE 01/03/2020! If you go to the contractors state license board website you will see that they have issued citations for my complaint. They are: Hiring a non licensed contractor ( the roofer ) Fraud involving a contract document. The contractor is responsible for salesman's actions. The status is pending and they have until 1/27/2020 to pay a fine of $4,000, issued by CSLB. The salesman has been recommended for legal action by the CSLB. After the last rain our new roof leaked. I called the roofer and he came out to fix it While up on the roof he noticed where the installers had drilled holes in the wrong place and just threw some caulk in then threw rocks in the holes. I rarely write reviews but this company deserves it. Solar can be confusing and after months of shopping different solar companies, my husband and I finally decided to go solar with Freedom Forever and Better Earth. We are so glad we did! This has been the best experience with a contractor I've ever had. Here is our story along with our decision making factors: 1) Freedom offered every top product in the industry. This made choosing which system to go with easy since we had been researching different panels and inverters online and they had them all. Our consultant could answer every question we had and knew the ins-and-outs of the system/solar industry which was refreshing after meeting with some of the other companies who seemed to be good at selling, but weren't actually knowledgeable on how the system, industry, or installation works... Most importantly, Freedom warranties the entire system for 25 years and was the only company who truly monitors the solar system and doesn't rely on the customer to do it. They back this up with a money back production guarantee. I've heard horror stories from friends who were stuck with a large utility bill at the of year due to companies not monitoring like they said they would so this was important to us. Sure enough, about 2 months into having the system our inverter had a malfunction and the service team replaced it the very next day. Although we had no idea that the malfunction happened, if they wouldn't have fixed it in time they would have paid us back for the power savings lost and this stands true for 25 years! Even when we read this part in the contract we were unsure of how reliable it was but Freedom/BE has gone above and beyond everything they promised. Score 1 for Freedom. 2) We wanted to make sure we were getting the best deal. Although some of the companies had a lower price, none of them had the service and warranty package or professionalism that Freedom Forever had. Plus, some of my friends took the cheap route with their solar and all of them had issues whether it was roof leaks, the company going out of business, or just overall lack of communication or unfulfilled promises which led to them paying more in the end plus headache. It seems like in solar, you get what you pay for stands especially true. We got a great deal on the German Hanwah panels we wanted for no money down and are saving money on our electric bill while we own the system and Freedom maintains it! Everything carries over and there are no prepayment penalties if we every choose to prepay the system and/or sell the house. Score 2 for Freedom. 3) Our system came with a 10 year roof warranty which was on par or better than the other companies. But the main thing is we wanted was a professional job done from the start because we have a tile roof and were weary of anyone walking on it or causing damage. Freedom Forever doesn't do anything but install solar systems (no sales team or finance team) so we felt comfortable letting them do the job. After only 3 weeks of them handling all of the paperwork and permitting with the HOA and city, the crew arrived at the time they said they would and were done in 1 day. They didn't leave any trash behind, were extremely respectful, and even painted the conduit to match my roof! The few tiles that they broke they replaced (free of charge). The system was turned on in less than a week. I didn't have to do anything or badger anyone to do anything, they handled it all. Fast forward and my husband and I couldn't be more pleased with how our solar project turned out. Sometimes we check our monitoring app just to see what our system produced that day and it's fun to know we're saving money and helping the environment without any effort or investment! We have 49 panels installed and I wanted to review the process to date. I will be updating after the first couple of months of actual usage, but just wanted to say that these folks have been absolutely awesome...especially in their communications. Ashley & Alice in Service/Customer Service and for the electrical, Alex and Jordon are especially called out for superior service. I also want to address some of the 1-Star complaints from customers on things like time required and tax refunds, etc. I am a retired Construction project manager, so I am familiar with the process. Solar is a bit different process than having a door installed. It involves site survey, roof inspection, electrical panel inspection/load calculations, plan approval, NV Energy approval and financing approval before the process can even start. Upon approval of those things, then panels can be installed. Once installed, then electrical work necessary can be performed after waiting on NV Energy to remove meter ring, then City inspection occurs, and if inspection fails (it's typically something that changed from drawings in layout, etc.), then reinspection occurs. You then sign your power agreements with NV Energy and wait 1-2 weeks for those to be reviewed and approved, and then wait again on NV Energy to do their inspection and meter change/power up of the system. This entire process can take a minimum of 6 weeks up to 3 months, and some of the timing is dependent upon homeowner response time, as well. You will not say "I want solar" and have it turned on before your next power bill, period. As far as the 30% tax credit. You recognize the entire tax credit if you have paid in at least that amount. If you haven't, then you get a percentage of that 30% the first year and the IRS will spread out the credit over a multiple year period (5, I believe) to allow for your full 30%. For example, if you have a $10,000 credit from solar, but you have only paid in $5000, and you owe another $1000, then you are only going to get $4000 credit for the first year ($5000 you paid minus credit applied to the $1000 you owe). If you paid in $20,000 in taxes, then you would get the entire amount. Any amount you owe the IRS will be taken out of the credit, so if you are paying the IRS for past years and owe $8000 in back taxes, then the IRS is going to keep $8000 of that $10,000 credit. The IRS will get their money before you get yours, period, and they will NEVER give you more back than you have paid in. That's an IRS issue, not a Freedom Forever issue, and they are not tax accountants to be able to figure that out on your behalf before purchase.....check with your CPA to determine how the credits will work for your personal situation before committing, and make sure you are able to handle the payments based on no credit, as that could potentially happen, as no one really knows what their actual tax situation may be prior to the end of the year. What if you lose your job....what if you inherit a bunch of money and owe mega taxes? For these reasons, I feel many of the 1-Star reviews are simply because the homeowner did not understand the process, nor the credits and they are unfair reviews. Review for Freedom Forever Solar Installation I purchased a large solar system from Freedom Forever in November 2023, and it finally received Permission to Operate (PTO) on August 19, 2024--nearly nine months later. Sales Process: The sales experience was excellent. The salesperson was courteous, efficient, and genuinely helpful, guiding me smoothly through the process. Post-Sales Experience: Unfortunately, once the sales process was over, everything went downhill. The project coordination was severely lacking, and I encountered several significant issues: Subcontractor Miscommunication: Freedom Forever subcontracted Greencal to perform a "comp backfill." When Greencal arrived, they mistakenly removed tiles from the wrong section of my roof, due to receiving incorrect plans. This mistake introduced unnecessary risk to my roof and delayed the project. Delays in Installation: After the roofing was "completed," it took nearly three months for Freedom Forever to schedule the installation of the battery, panels, and inverters. While the installation team was professional, the delay was frustrating. Inspection Delays: Following the installation, it took another six weeks to schedule the inspection. While some of this delay might be outside their control, it further prolonged the process. Damage to Electrical Lines: Between the panel installation and the inspection, my air conditioning stopped working. It was later determined that the roofing team had cut electrical lines during their work four months earlier. While Freedom Forever and Greencal eventually fixed this at no charge, the repair process took nearly a month. Failed Inspection: The initial inspection failed due to Freedom Forever's negligence--they failed to crimp a wire in a job box on my roof. Correcting this required coordinating with Greencal to remove tiles and access the job box, causing another 2-3 week delay. Poor Communication: Although I had a project coordinator throughout the nine-month process, their communication was often unhelpful. Responses were typically vague, with little to no actionable information. Collections Process: Despite the numerous delays caused by Freedom Forever, their collections team was relentless. As soon as a payment milestone was reached, I received daily calls as if I was late on payments. After wiring the payment, it took me 2.5 hours to confirm receipt, as they refused to provide contact information for their accounting team--a process that felt unnecessarily cumbersome and bordering on harassment. Escalation Issues: Attempting to escalate my concerns was nearly impossible. Freedom Forever does not make it easy to contact higher-ups, and I had to resort to finding VP-level contacts on LinkedIn to get any attention on my issues. Conclusion: While the system is now installed and working fine, I cannot recommend Freedom Forever due to the following reasons: Unreasonably long timelines for installation. Poor communication throughout the project. Lack of an effective escalation process for resolving issues. Aggressive and harassing collections practices, despite their delays in delivering the contracted services. read more

I went solar after my electric company threatened to shut me off if I didn't pay the last $29.00 of a 379.00 month bill, I of course paid it and said that's it, I got solar with some delays but not because Freedom wasn't trying, I also had weather, and appointment scheduling from My electric company, I went solar bc my electric company raised their rates 17% every year, I got insulation, windows fans, air conditioner lock( so the kids couldn't up the air and be comfortable while I was at work) Now I am watching the meter go backwards, I am making 31kw using 11 and sending the rest to battery and back to my electric company, Freedom gave me the freedom to FLIP OFF MY ELECTRIC COMPANY ****literally*** My house appraised more, I got a new roof and new electrical panel out of the deal, I do have the IRS rebate which is confusing from what I thought, but the fact is they are taking it away and lowering it next year, so I am ahead of the game, and the state of California just passed a law that every new house is built with solar, so it is there for a reason. I got 5 estimates before I went with Freedom and they were off the chart expensive, they lied and said they could install the panels on a double roof and they cant bc it would leak, they said if it leaked they would honor it, It was solar city and they cant. I had them try to convince me that they send an engineer out to give that personal touch to my expensive purchase, ( just give me the damn panels) Freedom came in about $15,000 less than the other company and the company that they had to do my roof, was THE BEST..GENTRY ROOFING. I am super excited and wish I would have seen the light 7 years ago bc I would be almost to the finish line. I have 17 panels, and next week is going to be 95o and I am turning the air conditioner to 68o and sitting with a blanket, maybe I will give MID a prank call and tell them my air conditioner is stuck on. I don't care if I have to pay $300. more for solar as long as I don't make MID rich on my power. and I never have to lose sleep on how am I going to pay my electric bill every JUNE JULY AND AUG... with out being shut off or late on something else. Javier was my sales person and I consider him a personal friend now, Nina was my contact account person & she was so personable when I was growling about the weather or the delay for my battery but it all came together and I am happy. I must say, this company's service is nothing short of a complete disaster; it's undoubtedly the worst company I could have ever imagined dealing with. Back in September 2022, I made the unfortunate decision to sign a contract with them, and what followed has been an absolute nightmare. Even after waiting for a grueling 10 months, there's still no ETA in sight for them to activate my system. Their communication is virtually non-existent. They went ahead and installed the panels in a completely different layout than what I had originally agreed upon, without even bothering to inform me. To add insult to injury, two random guys showed up unannounced on my roof to do some backfill tiles, and I had no clue what was going on. I've lost count of how many times I've called them, each time being promised that they would get back to me with updates. But guess what? Not a single callback ever materialized. It took them a staggering three months just to install the panels after removing my roof tiles, and another two months to backfill them. And guess what again? The backfilled tiles are a mess - not aligned, not leveled - just an eyesore. They have absolutely no regard for customer satisfaction. Broken tiles have been sitting in front of my garage, and the rest of the tiles have been stacked on my roof for nearly two weeks now, and it seems like they couldn't care less. In my desperation, I asked them to cancel the whole project to avoid risking my utility for the next 25 years without proper support. You know what their response was? A very quick resounding and heartless "NO" - not even a hint of empathy or understanding. Enough is enough! I've filed a complaint with the California Contractors State Licensing Board, but the wait for a response feels like eternity. In the meantime, I've had to resort to involving my lawyer, who is now preparing a lawsuit to force them to cancel this disastrous project. In all my years as a consumer, I've never encountered a company so callous, unprofessional, and unwilling to take responsibility for their mistakes. My advice to anyone considering doing business with this company: run in the opposite direction and spare yourself from the headache and heartache that I've endured. read more

In the first week of April, I had solar panels installed by Freedom Forever and made an 80% payment as stipulated in the contract. Upon contacting SCE in early June, they informed me that a decision on PTO (Permission to Operate) would be made in the third week of June. However, I am uncertain whether it is my responsibility or Freedom Forever's to arrange the city inspection. When I reached out to the city, they confirmed that no one had contacted them regarding the inspection. Consequently, I took the initiative to schedule an appointment for the city inspection, but my attempts to contact Freedom Forever and request their presence during the inspection were met with silence. During the inspection, the inspector determined that the installation was incomplete and that the contractor should have been present. Unfortunately, I have been unable to reach anyone at Freedom Forever, and their customer service has proven unresponsive. I have sent multiple emails to various individuals within the company, including the dealer, the person who applied for the city permit, the customer service department, and the payment collector, but I have not received any responses. During the estimation process, I specifically mentioned to the representative from the company that the main panel needed to be upgraded to 200 amps. They assured me that it would be taken care of. The day before the installation, I contacted the representative to reconfirm, and they reiterated that the main panel upgrade would be done during the installation. However, when the installation team arrived, they informed me that they had no plans to perform the upgrade. Feeling perplexed, I reached out to the estimator who initially discussed the project with me, and he stated that it was ultimately the installation team's decision whether or not to upgrade the main panel. However, during the estimation, he had assured me that the price included the upgrade to a 200-amp main panel. In addition to the aforementioned issues, there were several other aspects of the installation that did not go smoothly. On Aug. 8 we had our first appointment with Freedom Forever sales rep. Thor Dyrensborg. By Sept. 14 our new solar panels were generating power! So far we are totally satisfied! Through this whole process Thor was practically perfect! As with all sales reps I was on guard our first few meetings because many salesmen will say anything to get the sale, customer be damned. This was not the case with Thor at all. Besides his excellent personality I found him to have the utmost integrity, be completely honest and he didn't shy away from my tough questions (about company name change, bad reviews etc.) He answered all questions and came thru on 99.99% of his commitments! (I would have said 100% but there were a few non-essential technical questions I had to find on my own). I would definitely do business again with Thor Dyrensborg and Freedom Forever, I highly recommend them to anyone looking for solar power. Give Thor a call on his cell phone 808-365-9847. It's usually sunny here in Riverside and I wanted to wait a couple of months to see if these panels performed as Thor promised and so far they are working fantastic! Our panels started producing on Sept. 14 and here is our SCE bill comparison for the first month and a half: Sept. 2017 $234.38 Sept. 2018 -$38.92 (yes, NEGATIVE $38.92) Oct. 2017 $47.63 Oct. 2018 -27.42. (again, negative!) Though we may have some small SCE bills during the winter months we fully expect to have a bill credit from SCE after our 1 year Net Metering audit! We chose to lease our solar panels with a 20 year PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) and since our house has a large enough electrical service and our tile roof is in excellent condition we paid NOTHING UP FRONT OUT OF POCKET! We made our first fixed monthly lease payment of $89.52, guaranteed not to increase more than 2.9% each year. This year and in the years to come we will save hundreds of dollars with our solar panels! Thanks again Thor for your professionalism and your commitment to our solar project, you were excellent! Nature of Complaint: Misrepresentation, Delayed Installation, and Exploitation of Elderly Consumer The consumer entered into a contract with the solar panel company near the end of 2024. However, the installation did not take place until several months later, around February or March of 2025. At the time of the initial sales interaction, the company's representative provided verbal assurances that were later discovered to be inaccurate or misleading. The consumer raised these concerns via text message to the sales representative, but those messages went unanswered. After installation, hardware issues began to arise, including screws and latches falling from the panels. When the consumer expressed concern, they were dismissed and made to feel as though the issues were minor or non-existent. The contract includes a provision for cancellation within a specific time frame, but due to the significant delay in installation, that cancellation window had passed before the panels were even in place--leaving the consumer without a fair opportunity to cancel after discovering problems. The salesperson also falsely claimed that the system would provide 100% solar energy coverage. The consumer later learned that this was not accurate. Repeated attempts were made by the consumer to contact the company to address these issues and request removal of the system, but all communications were either ignored or disregarded, appearing to be a tactic to trap the consumer in a binding agreement. Additionally, the consumer--an elderly individual--suffered a severe stroke. Family members reached out on the consumer's behalf and were shockingly told that the consumer was being "dramatic," despite the serious medical condition. This response was not only unprofessional but deeply inappropriate given the situation. It has become evident that the company took advantage of an elderly, inexperienced homeowner by providing false or misleading information to secure a contract and then failing to respond to legitimate concerns. read more
