Highly highly recommend! Excellent installers, engineers, and managers. After months of delay due to permitting and weather (outside of SunPower's control), my 28 solar panel and 4x Tesla gen2 Powerwall setup was finally commissioned and online as of May 11th, 2023. Everything turned on and worked, I am beyond ecstatic! I now have plenty of solar panels and battery, with 11.5 KW of peak solar, and 4x Tesla gen2 Powerwalls at 54 KWH of energy storage to power my Tesla and everything in the house. The only miscommunication was when I checked the critical battery load list, they didn't put my mini-split AC / heater on it initially. When I complained about it the manager said they usually don't put air conditioning on backup uploads to protect the Tesla Powerwall batteries. I explained that before the solar project started I installed an energy efficient mini-split AC / Heater system that has slow soft start capability and is battery friendly, and confirmed with the engineer who installed the mini-split AC system, as well as SunPower's engineer. I have plenty of sun and battery power to operate this AC system, the math works out. SunPower by Precis then came back a month later to change the backup load, free of charge. Now everything is working perfectly and I can charge my Tesla with the power of the sun and power the entire house, including mini-split AC / heater, and be unaffected by extended power outages. If you install battery friend mini-split AC systems, and want it on the backup load, just make sure you communicate that clearly ahead of time with their engineers and ensure it gets added to the critical backup loads sheet with their managers/installers because putting AC on critical battery backup is non-standard, especially not the traditional HVACs that have a large spiky startup current that's really bad for batteries. read more

I've been a customer for about 12 years. I hate the sale agent who sold me the solar and I hate PRecis Solar after telling them my situation they claim that can't do anything about. For years, when someone would ask me how do I like Solar I tell them not to get it. Why you ask? Let me tell you. Our agent who sold us the products filled up with whatever could get her that commission. In my opinion. The one factor I do remember is her saying I will never have to pay Edison ever again. In fact she said Edison will end up owing money. Because all this energy that we are getting from solar that we will be feeding Edison back all the unused energy. What a bunch a crap! I've been paying Edison for 12 years. About $150 monthly plus my finance that I got from the solar about $170. Do you see any savings? Cause I sure don't. After twelve years my mother in law wanted to get solar. So I go to her house to convince her not to get it. While the agent was there. But you know what that sale agent was pretty honest and said she didn't need it. Then he said to me that he will come to my house to look at my property. I was skeptical but I went along with it. So? Guess what? He said the company sold me a small inverter for my house. I was glad he told me that but then he was trying to sell me a plan, which I turned him down immediately. I ain't being sucker again. I thanked him and called my sale agent to let her know the situation. Believe it or not the same sale agent is still there. I asked her nicely what she can do for me since the product she have sold me was costing me money. Well let me tell you. The office secretary told me that's she's been paying Edison also for years and that the way it works . I was like what in the tarnishing? I don't think so. My agent never contacted me except by texting and has never been heard from again. So, today I'm giving this review. Now I'm looking for a lawyer to file a class action lawsuit. If there's anyone out there that feels they been robbed or screwed. Help me fight for justice. read more

This was a terrible company to work with. They charged me double the going rate for solar. They lied about my eligibility for the solar tax credit. They misled me about the nature of the warranty on the panels. Their subcontractors did a lousy job (paint and electrical look like someone was learning on my house). No one answered phone calls or emails when the work was being completed and I'm pretty sure I know why. They had my money and wanted to make sure they kept it. read more

I'm loving Install. This is what I requested from my Sales Rep Tim Marquez. Edison shut down the power on the whole block for service maintenance. Most of the house is running on the back up batteries. The first pic shows when it was running on battery only, the second pic shows how the solars panels are powering the house & charging the battery now that the sun is out. If you have a choice DO NOT use this company. I purchased a new home with KB and was forced to either purchase or lease solar panels with Sunpower. This is our first year and apparently the solar panels weren't working and we recieved a HUGE bill from electric company!! NOT EVEN A YEAR AND NOT WORKING. Worse part is no one contacted us about panels not working, but when we called customer service I was told they knew they weren't working and had already fixed the problem. OK if thats the case, why didn't anyone contact us and let us know or begin the credit for the months the panels didn't work instead of us being completely BLINDSIDED by a crazy bill and having to call customer service for 2 months now. We've contacted customer service several time with no confirmed answers but this last call was the worst of all. We called again to follow up with the credit for the panels not working and per contract they will because the panels didn't produce the minimum amount of energy promised . NO SURPRISE its never been processed. So Lea #5557 said she would process it again but doesn't know how long it will take. At this point we are frustrated and want to know how we can get rid of working with this company . I telephoned Sun Power by Précis and made an agreement on November 22, 2019 to install a 18,467 kWh system for $44,733.60. Tim Marquez was the salesman representing SunPower by Précis. As a retired contractor, I asked Mr. Marquez, if the installer's would be performing a load capacity test of my pool and pond pumps because I wanted to make sure that the system would off-set my energy's demand. Mr. Marquez assured me that the installation team were professional's in the industry at sizing up solar systems. After paying off the 40 panels on our garage through Solar Max I wanted to be sure that the additional 36 panels by SunPower for a total of 76 panels would be sufficient to off-set my energy consumption and I made this clear to Mr. Marquez. In fact, I invited Mr. Marquez to my backyard and showed Mr.Marquez the swimming pool and pond systems. Since Mr. Marquez assured me that I would have at the most a 200 dollar a month bill or possibly no bill at all. After installing the new system, I started getting SCE bills from $500-900 monthly. After complaining several times to SunPower by Précis, over the past year, that the system was not functioning properly, I finally was able to get Précis technicians out to figure out why I am still getting $500-900 dollar a month SCE bills on top of a $400 dollar a month solar payment on a dysfunctional system . The technician's said we were probably using too much power to off-set our SCE bill. Then, I was told that some of the micro converters were not working and would have to be replaced. When I telephoned SunPower by Précis to let them know that the new micro converters are still not working nor registering. Fran from SunPower by Précis e-mailed me and explained that any further concern's with their Solar system would have to be addressed through Sun Power and that SunPower by Précis Solar would no longer be providing service to our system. This abandonment and lack of accountability is unacceptable, unprofessional, and unlawful and has led to me having sleeplessness, anxiety, stress , and frustration being a disabled senior on a fixed income. As a disabled senior on a fixed income, I will proceed to file complaints with the CSLB, the attorney's general's office through the State of California, The BBB, and yelp, as well as the financial institution that supports the financing for SunPower by Précis of this dysfunctional system. My complaint is as follows: 1. Failure to fulfill the terms of our agreement (abandoning) service and maintenance of my system as per Fran's e-mail dated 01-11-2024. 2. Failure to take my daily kWh energy requirement and divide it by my peak sun hours to size up our system and then to divide the kW output by our panel's efficiency to get the estimated number of solar panels needed during the initial site inspection, and to access my homes unique attributes. This also contributed to SunPower by Precis 's underestimating my energy consumption for off-set. 3. Failure to use a multimeter to measure current, voltage, amps, and watts to my pool and pond pump equipment, as requested, prior to installation. 4. Failure of my Solar equipment not working properly or producing to their specifications. Made the terrible mistake of signing a contract with SunPower! This company is the worst company I have ever dealt with! They haven't installed anything or done anything other than send someone to inspect our roof. When I requested updated to the sales agent, he would reply days later or he wouldn't even bother at times. I've been trying to cancel for over a month now. When I called to cancel they said that the only way that it could be canceled was through the sales agent. Messaged him and he lied to me saying that the cancellation fee would be too high and that it would be best to just continue with the project. He told me the amount was $6,000 to cancel which was a lie because an advertising agent informed me that the max Penalty was $500 to cancel. I told him I needed that information in writing detailing all the changes that were being made. He then changed his statement to me having to request cancellation in order to determine the actual amount . I felt like he was trying to intimidate and manipulate me because I am a woman! So far I've had to deal with three different departments that keep lying to me and won't get back to me or take my calls! We expanded our lease through SunPower and added a battery and Precis Solar handled the permitting and HOA process as well as the install. The process went very well as far as the setup - Taryn, Denise, and Bret stayed very on top of everything with me, constantly checking in on whether or not I'd received HOA approval. Sean, who did the install with another guy whose name I didn't get, was very professional. Started off ok... They worked great and the electric bill was almost nothing. Then the electric bill started creeping up. I called Precis thinking we don't have enough panels, they told me they like to wait for one year. I also informed them that the app and communication does not work. They blamed it on SunPower and SunPower blamed it on installation. Well, I just went to SCE to check on my yearly bill that was about to be due and found out it was over $4,000. I then found out my solar panels have not been working almost the whole year. Seems they worked a little bit in SunPower is supposed to be monitoring the system. I called and complained to Precis, they explained that there may be a problem with the micro-inverters and they gave me a trouble ticket number. That was two weeks ago. Then today we get a check from SunPower. Seems there is a class action suit against them for the same problem I am having. The check won't cover a even 15% of the electric bill I have. We finally got thru to someone named Joe today. (pretty useless) and he said someone will be calling either Thursday or Friday. But they said that before too. **DO NOT USE Sunpower by Precis aka PRECIS SOLAR** 20 of my 25 solar panels failed within the first 2 years. 80% failure rate. There was a fire sparked from their junction box on top of my roof. I was told from Precis that it was due to moisture buildup in their waterproof box which they had drilled a hole in for the moisture to drain. The only reason I knew the solar panels failed was due to a bill at the end of the period roll up from Southern California Edison for $2,341.98. Not expecting that bill as the previous year I had a positive amount and received ~$100 from SCE. I contacted Precis immediately where they found that 20 solar panels had not been working. When I purchased the solar panels AND MONITORING SYSTEM from Precis, it was not installed correctly and the system was not commissioned through Sunpower so I and they could not use the monitoring system which I paid for. I was told at time of purchase that Precis will monitor my system to make sure that if anything goes wrong, which it wouldn't, that they will fix the issue right away. I obviously escalated the issue to their V.P. Matt. I have called his office and left him notifications to call me back on 8 occasions in the previous month. I have only gotten a hold of him 1 time and that was because he actually picked up. He was extremely rude and accusatory to me. He stated that they do not monitor their clients systems, he does not know why my system was never commissioned so that I could monitor it, and I am told that it is MY FAULT for their faulty installation and failure of 80% of the panels. He told me to send him pictures of the electrical fire which I did within 10 min of the phone call. I have never heard from him since or had him call me back with my follow up phone calls to him. All I want is for them to cover the $2,341.98 bill from SCE due to Precis' failure to properly install and complete the install of my system. Nothing more nothing less. So I paid ~$36k for the system and get stuck with a bill from SCE for another $2,341.98 that all failed prior to it lasting 2 years. You can see from the pictures from what the tech removed from my roof of the electrical box (rust, oxidation, and electrical fire) that happened. Remember, this is less than 2 years old and a "waterproof box" that builds moisture in which they drill a hole in for it to drain. You can also see the Tech putting his legs on the actual fragile solar panels as he worked at fixing the box. Did he break some of the solar cells? Who knows. I have a very difficult time with communication and getting a refund check after I cancelled. We decided to not move ahead with adding panels to an existing install because our electrical panel didn't support enough current. That added cost made the ROI harder. PrecisSolar was totally fine and supportive during this. They agreed to refund me the $1000 deposit. It has now been 10 weeks. Customer service sucks! I have been calling customer service for over a month now to have someone look at my solar panels that have not been working for months. The first time I was told a reset was needed to be done and wait a couple of days. When that didn't work I called again and was told a ticket was needed to be submitted. This is the second solar system we've installed on our homes but the first time using SunPower by Precis and all I can say is that I wish I had found them for my first home as well! I base my satisfaction on 4 factors; Service (includes sales & operations), Amount of time elapsed from the time I signed my agreement to the time the system was fully operating, quality of work and system functioning as promised (or as designed). Service - my sales rep was Kristin Kirk and she was phenomenal. Kristen ensured that every detail was taken care of. I had to have my roof re-done prior to installing my solar system but I was worry free in Kristin's hands because she coordinated all the moving pieces to ensure that there were no hiccups along the way. This also meant doing all the heavy lifting with her operations / install team to have things go off without a hitch. Time to complete job - I singed my contract on Feb 20th and my solar system was fully operational on April 3rd - that is 6 weeks which includes a re-roof and the Easter weekend, pretty phenomenal by solar standards! Quality of work - second to none! There is no noticeable wiring or conduit to be found anywhere around the system or my electric service panel, all wiring was run inside my attic and walls and everything was properly patched and color matched as if it was part of the original construction. System Performance - I had 18 SunPower X21 Black panels installed (335's) along with SunPower micro inverters and monitoring system. Thus far, the system has performed better than expected, averaging over 38kwh of power produced per day. Another great benefit is having access to the system's production data via the app and website....SunPower is simply the best! Our experience with SunPower by Precis was wonderful from beginning to end. Paul Walker made a very thorough presentation and didn't try to oversell us; he knows his stuff. Their panels happen to be the highest rated out there (I did extensive research), their warranty is longer than many top companies, and their installation crew is fantastic -- they have their own crews rather than farm out installation to third party installers. It took longer then we expected to get the system completely up and running due to their popularity, the permitting process and inspections, but it was worth it. Precis solar installed 24 solar panels 2 years ago. SunPower has the best warranty in the market. In 2017 sales person came and talked to me about going solar and my only concern was I had a 25 + year old roof and had an area that was leaking. I told that they would repair that area of the roof which they did. In 2018 rain the area supposedly repaired leaked, I contacted the company and sent pictures via text as requested and there was no response from Precis. 2019...rain revealed once again a leak on the area repaired by Precis. This time I contact a roofer. Roofer inspects and was told the paper underneath was cracking so a whole house reroof was decided. So I contact Precis again not to complain about the leaky repair but to see if the removal and replacement would void the warranty of the solar panels. Sure enough, I was told by Precis it definitely void the warranties. So, I get a quote from Precis for removal, storage, and putting it back on the roof. The quote was $6000+ . I'll have no choice but to hire Precis and pay for the quoted amount, Lesson learned! Only go solar if you have a fairly new roof that won't leak or else pay a large amount. read more

If there was a negative 5 stars I will give this company. In 2012 I had my system installed and was told everything is covered bumper to bumper for 25 years. In 2019 (that is 7 years later) two micro inverters stoped working. When I called for my waranty they stated that I have to to contact the company that manufactured it which is a Chinese company that has gone out of business. They stated they only covere the installation for 10 years and not the equipments. So if you are thinking about hiring them then buyer beware. read more

I read a lot of these reviews to see if my experience with this company was just a fluke. I'm not surprised to see that it's the standard. My system broke sometime prior to September 2022 and the issue is still on-going (7 months and counting). I've called several times and gotten abysmal customer service. I've left reviews on Better Business and gotten a few emails which are akin to the phone conversations (now in writing, woo hoo). They've sent 2 or 3 different technicians out to "fix" or "replace" something which has resulted in me having to call in to find out the technician "didn't do it properly" and they need to schedule another one. Wait a month, get a call, repeats the process. Heck, every time I call, they still say the account is under the previous owner even though I sent them the lease transfer paperwork 5 times now. I've opened the house for over 2 years! So you, dear reader, if you hate your wallet, don't value your time, and think "hey, there isn't enough meaningless stress in my life, I should add some", then please go with this company. They will make sure you get just that. I don't enjoy leaving reviews like this. I want to believe there really is something outside of a companies control that's prevents X or Y. I was referred to Precis by SunPower in Jun 2019. I ultimately did not move forward with them and let them know via phone and email and also let SunPower know. Despite telling them to stop contacting me and to be removed from their email database, they kept calling and emailing me for the next ~2 months including a sales email sent to 45+ people that exposed everyone's email address. I receive yet another sales email today (May 6, 2021) again with no option to Unsubscribe. Be careful engaging with these guys. You'll never stop hearing from them! The SUNPOWER by Precis team was INCREDIBLE to work with from start to finish. My first contact was with Kristin k. (Sales Associate) and she provided me with all the information that I needed regarding installing solar in my home. Due to COVID, my contacts were by email or by phone. Kristin was very timely in her response to all my questions. Once, I decided to go with SUNPOWER, I was contacted by Chelsea B. (Sales Coordinator) and Aryn D. (Admin) who provided me with various information regarding what would be needed for the HOA approval, and what to expect in getting a permit from the County. During this time, I was contacted by the design team regarding the finalization of the roof design with the solar panels. About a week later I was contacted by Christian H. (Engineer) who let me know the solar designs were being emailed to me, and if I had any questions to call him. Christian also explained what the next steps would be regarding installation Once I received approval from my HOA, solar installation began the following day. The installation team, lead by Ed, arrived at the scheduled time and completed the solar project in two (2) days. During the installation, Ed explained what would be done and how the electrical would be placed. All the electrical wiring was installed in the attic and NO conduit was placed on the roof. Ed provided me with pictures of the solar panels on the roof to send to my HOA. After the project was completed, the working area was left clean. Lastly, the main reasons for selecting SUNPOWER by Precis were their warranties on the solar panels, equipment, and any roof leakage. The customer service has been OUTSTANDING. Paul always follow up, came on time, and didn't stop reaching out to give me an updates and how's everything throughout the process and installations until it was up and running. I purchased a solar system from Precis several years ago. I chose them because 1) each panel had its own inverter and individual monitoring system and 2) most importantly, they warranted the system for 25 years. Recently, some of my panels began to die and their performance started dropping precipitously. I called Precis for help. The receptionists were kind and committed to refer my call to the tech. 1) I never heard back 2) I had to call and call again before I could talk to someone. Precis said the monitoring company claimed there was no problem and they could do nothing. I had the data to prove there was a problem. 3) I was then told the panels that they (Precis) chose to install were from a manufacturer who had declared bankruptcy and gone out of business and they could do nothing. 3) When I pressed their VP for a solution, he finally said he found an acceptable replacement but wanted to charge me $550 for the replacement. That's not a warranty. It's a rip off. These people cannot be trusted. They do not keep their word. They do not return phone calls. Perhaps legal action is appropriate. One star is too generous. read more

Do not use this company! Go to Costco and get any other company thur them, cuz this company doesn't know how to install there own solar panels, it's been more than two months and nothing has been completed. Please believe the reviews of this company and go somewhere else. read more
