Fred Flintstone themed! Food was fine, food court vibes. There's a lot of photo ops outside. Inside is a mini-mart and some fast food.

Opened in 1972!! 49 years! Located in Coconino County, Arizona, you'll find There is really nothing to do in Williams, AZ, other than the Grand Canyon itself, and the kid friendly (Fred's Diner) across the street. (Themed The Flintstones.) I love what the literal Bedrock City has been bringing to us for almost 50 years now. This is a glorified gift shop with all television themed products and a cute playground with a teeter totter, statues of the beloved characters and other touristy attractions... The menu is a little outdated, but it is more catered to the kids. This is worth the stop, if you're traveling with the little ones, and they will remember this forever! Again, Bedrock City's Fred's Diner, opened in 1972.. six years after the original cartoon ended! It was an Arizona roadside tourist attraction for decades. Its pastel buildings mimicked the homestead of Fred Flintstone and neighbors. Children could slide down the tail of a giant brontosaurus, like Fred getting off his shift at the quarry. A replica of the family car sat parked nearby. Folks could eat at Fred's Diner, purchase mementos in the gift shop, and sleep on the campgrounds. Word has it that the Flintstones-themed amusement park in Arizona closes after nearly half a century.

Great service, great food. The staff goes well beyond helpful. Had the pizza with everything and it was to die for.

I think I watched all the episodes of The Flintstone's when I was a kid. It was cool seeing humans and dinosaurs in hilarious adventures. I was surprised to see Fred's Diner on the way to the Grand Canyon. Parking lot had Flintstone artifacts for photo opportunities. It was pretty desolate. Lots of open space and only a few cars. Paint was fading on the artifacts. On the other side of the parking lot was a grocery store and an RV park. Inside Fred's Diner was a small diner and gift shop. The gift shop was a contrast with the shiny new Flintstones merchandise and weathered looking Indian items. I left with a Flintstone's t-shirt. There was a tiny Flintstone's theme park behind the diner. I would have visited if my kid was with me. I expect the theme park to be weathered and neglected as with what I have seen inside and out. Perhaps this place is an allegory to a prehistoric age from which we are only left with the bones.

    The last piece of pizza!

We stopped in for a snack on our way home... had pizza and fries both were ridiculously amazing!!!

Fred's diner is a museum/park cafe. The attraction is Bedrock city they modeled after the Flintstones. Unexpectedly entertaining. Service was timely and friendly. Food is you simple cafe foods with burgers and chicken tenders, made to order. Priced fairly, with an opportunity to pick up a random Flintstones or Arizona trinket.

When it comes to Fred's Diner, I would recommend not focusing on the food so much, because unless you're a fan of generic, cheap, diner food, this place will not appeal to your palate. I would instead focus on the novelty of the diner, and of Bedrock City as a whole. Even though I'm not a fan of The Flintstones per se, I am a fan of people erecting whole parks dedicated to things that they and others love. The diner is attached to the gift shop, which also houses the entrance to the amusement park. The diner is small and full of Flintstones memorabilia. The menu is a decent size, and I kid you not they actually serve five cent coffee here. I ordered the Big Fred burger, which is a double burger with cheese and all the fixings. The burger tasted fine - again, it's generic diner food. The fries were heavily under-salted, and this coming from someone who hates added salt. Overall, you definitely get what you pay for. Even though the food is nothing special, this place is fun nonetheless.

I asked for coffee and she handed me a menu and she asked if I knew what I wanted to eat. I said I needed some time to look at the menu and she frowned and walked away without saying a word. It was obvious she thought I was going to be there a while and didn't want me sitting at the table long. She returned with the coffee and said "You know if it gets busy...." leaving the sentence hanging. I replied I would leave if it did (the restaurant only had maybe 3 tables full at that point, by the time I left at 640 there were two tables empty). After eating the food, which was quite good, I promptly packed up and left as soon as I could 25 minutes after being seated. I walked down to Brewed Awakenings, got a coffee there and sat down at my computer to do some work. In a small restaurant I totally understand that you need to keep tables moving so there is not a wait, but there is a polite and subtle way to message to a patron that they need to move along so other folks can sit down. You can deliver the check early, ask if you are finished, ask if there is anything else you need. Ways to communicate to a patron that they need the table. This was certainly not it. I eat out often, I tip very well, but I have to say this is the first time I felt unwelcome and rushed at a place in a very, very long time. While the food was good, this was not the way to start off day 2 of my roadtrip. In today's economy, making your customers feel like they need to eat and run, and doing so in a rude way, is a master class in how to make your restaurant fail. I do not recommend this place.

The space still has that nice rustic charm with plenty of seating inside and outside on their nice patio. Ordering, however, has changed. Beers, cocktails, nonalcoholic beverages, cans to-go, and food is all ordered up at the bar. There was 1 lone employee working the bar; taking orders, pouring beers, mixing cocktails, and closing people out at the register. This was so incredibly inefficient, particularly on such a busy day. I stood in line 3 separate times (once to initially order two pints, a second time to order a flight of other beers we wanted to taste, and a final time to purchase two cans to-go and close out my tab); each time in line took between 15-25 minutes. The girl behind the bar was very friendly and she was working as quickly as possible while maintaining a relatively happy attitude, but boy did I feel bad for her. Management really messed this up; someone needed to step in and help. With such a big celebration in town that day, there needed to be a minimum of 3 employees manning the bar to take orders and get drinks. As for the beer itself, as usual it's just average. Great if you're looking for something cold to enjoy, but not memorable if you're a craft beer nerd. We went in knowing what the quality would be, but still wanted to try all the new beers since we hadn't been in a couple of years. We didn't eat while there, but in the past when we have, the food is good. The knock of two stars was simply for the horrible management of orders. I don't know when they decided to get rid of waiters and put all the pressure onto the bartender, but geez what an awful decision that was.
