We chose Freddy's because Eduardo seemed the most knowledgeable about how to trim a Jacaranda tree attractively. Also, it was important to us that the company have the equipment necessary (like a boom crane) to safely remove our Star Pine (the tallest tree in the neighborhood) and remove giant overhanging branches from our roof safely. Hired Freddy's 6/10/24 Never thought I'd ever write a review on here, let alone a negative one. Hired Freddy's to cut down a tree that was pushing out a retaining wall for my bbq area and causing it to shift a bit. I asked if they would get the roots that extended out and they agreed. So they send a crew that arrived 2 hours late than scheduled but not a problem because figured must be getting contracted commercial work out of the before getting to the residential tree that agreed to terms over the phone. Crew proceeded to cut down the tree and let the sawed off logs drop down from point of cut down to the bbq area that sat on a concrete. To provide reference logs averaged 2.5 feet long weighing what looked to be 30-35 pounds each. Piece by piece log fell on the concrete slab of my bbq area leaving markings on the floored. Figured pressure washer would get most markings off, not a problem. I did notice after the crew a couple of tiles from the sink in my bbq area had been knocked out of place. Logs must have hit them off but figure could glue it back on not a problem. The crew was about to start chopping away at the extended roots, I had previously requested over the phone, with the stump grinder. Before they started, I informed them that there was an electrical line in the area they assured me that it'll be alright and 'not a problem'. Of course they hit the electrical line that lit up the bbq area at night. I seen all it will take to repair is a little digging, some pvc and 12 gauge. Crew also broke two irrigation lines but again, not a problem. I proceeded to dig down electrical line to find box where the wires were spliced and as I am digging, some of the extended roots were not removed and made it very difficult to dig under, some I had to cut through with a small hatchet but as I finally made it to the underground box, a good size piece of the stump had not been grounded out and is tearing through some underground pipes and is making it difficult to reach box. I hired Freddy's on 6/10 and with a Vegas trip in between, I reached to Freddy's on 6/26 about getting stump and rest of extended roots not removed. They didn't respond so I called them on 6/27 and explain some of the damages that had occurred but if they could just come back and remove stump piece and extended roots. They said they will have someone be out on 7/2 at noon. No one showed. I reached back out on 7/3 to let the company know that no one showed but it seems like they are screening my calls and not returning messages. Guess it is true that you get what you pay for, because even though they were the cheapest I found, not only did I sacrifice the work quality that comes with the care of precision and purposeful intent, but most of all I sacrificed a customer service that follows through!! read more

I looked on Yelp for a tree service. I found this Co. I spoke to Edward. I scheduled an appt. for 2/6/25 at 1:00pm. I had that on all my calendars. I confirmed it with him twice. So today is 2/6 & no one showed up at 1pm. I called & spoke to Edward again & he stated that he had 2pm! When he asked me for my address, I gave it to him. He then read it back to me & it was NOT my address! So, 1 pm came & went, 2 pm came & it is now 3pm. I have left a message on their VM & asked them to call me back. It is now 3:10 and still no call. So it is sad that we read how "good" this Co is supposed to be. I would not use them now even if Edward called back. The arborist, Eduardo, answered all my questions in a thorough manner during the in person review of the project. I felt comfortable with this on-site evaluation. Moreover, Freddy's offered a competitive price to complete the job as well. They were able to fit me in their schedule in a prompt manner and the five man work crew arrived on time that same week. Communication was excellent with the foreman on the job and front office. I was impressed with how efficient the crew worked to cut the trees down and remove all tree trimmings, so they deserve recognition for their attention to detail. It was truly a work of art to see them handle these large trees carefully and safely. After the two-day project was completed, the property was cleaned accordingly in a professional manner. I wish I could give six stars. Two HUGE tree roots and a mid-sized one I needed cut, and the company I had contracted stood me up on a Saturday, meaning unlikely to get project done until at least Monday - behind schedule. I contacted numerous companies (call, email, text) and Eduardo emailed me back within an hour (at 6pm on Saturday), agreed to look at my pictures to estimate a ballpark quote, which was more than my ghoster-tree man and beyond my budget, but that he would come out tomorrow (today, Sunday) to do the job. I thanked him profusely, and he promised to come between 2 and 3. SAMUEL arrived on time, looked at the job, realized that I am fence-locked and haven't got a side gate to access yard and so any equipment had to come through the garage to side door, or through front door to sliding glass. The job normally requires a grinder, which wouldn't fit through my doors! Samuel said he would have to do it by hand (with a pick-axe, not a chainsaw, so some hard labor that was unexpected for us both). I asked to confirm the "minimum" quote that Eduardo gave me, noting that more could be possible for the hand-labor. Samuel said, "No, that's the amount you were quoted, and I hate to go above a quote." They accept either cash or check, or can make arrangements for a credit card (with a nominal fee attached). I couldn't be more grateful for this company, and for sending Samuel to save my project (and my health, as I was going to try a chainsaw on it as a last resort - yikes!). If you're afraid to get your trees trimmed because you think they'll look like a bunch of sticks... use Freddy's because your trees will still have foliage and look like trees after! I was so worried due to past experience with a different company, but Freddy's tree service went above my expectations. I got a bid and got on schedule a few days later, when convenient for me. The gentleman I got a bid from was there during the tree trimming- which is necessary to me. They thinned out and trimmed conservatively and then asked me if I would like them to cut more or keep it like that. I appreciate this because it's so easy to cut too much and not be able to go back and have to live with the look of overly trimmed trees for a year. I had them cut back a little more. I haven't found that anything was damaged and felt comfortable with the workers. This is the best tree trimming service I have had at my home. I try not to leave a bad review, but unfortunately this recent interaction wasn't the best. Why? Because they never showed up. Secondly, when I tried calling the company, I wouldn't get a response and would have to leave a voicemail. My appointment time was scheduled after 2pm, and I had to chase down someone to figure out if I'm going to get service for that day because I hadn't heard from anyone for the last hour after my appointment window began. I finally get a hold of Mike, who I initially scheduled my appointment window the day before and he had reassured me someone will be coming today and would call me back. It's nearly 5pm, no response from the crew or Mike and not until I leave a voicemail and a text message cancelling my appointment, I suddenly get a response saying the crew is on their way and that they have been having phone issues. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it seems other customers had similar issues related to no shows. P.s. price was reasonable, not the cheapest or most expensive, but a little communication could go a long way. read more

I may have been lucky, but I must say that I had a really good experience with Freddy's Tree Service. My spouse and I needed 5 trees removed from our backyard, so she sent them a message through Yelp in the morning and they replied quickly. At lunchtime, we had a representative come by to give us a quote, which was more affordable than other companies we looked at. We were told that the crew were already working in the area since they were working on another project nearby, so if we wanted to get it done that day, they could come afterwards. The crew came a couple hours later. They were quick, efficient, and really easy to work with. They removed all the trees, removed the roots, and cleaned up afterwards. Short version: I can't ask for a better tree specialist / certified arborist. I would rate 6-star if allowed. I turned to Eddy for tree removal and an assessment report on existing trees. He showed up on short notice and provided the quote and the report for free. The conversation was very pleasant, and Eddy shared his rich knowledge and experience on similar issues, giving me lots of helpful advice. When I asked how I could pay him back for the consultation and the service, he said he didn't provide any services yet and refused to charge me for the consultation. He's very humble, professional, and willingly helpful, and I see strong craftsmanship in him. The assessment report he provided me for free would have cost ranging from a few hundred dollars to $1000~2000 from every other certified arborist I talked to. And the quote he provided for tree removal is the best I received. I hope I won't have to bother him in the future, but if I have related jobs in the future, he'll be my turn-to without shopping anywhere else. Thought about doing this myself but just thinking about it was tiresome. So decided to request an estimate to cut a large tree (20') and remove the stump. Received response less than 5 minutes later from James via yelp. Great price for what had to be done. 2 crews came out, 1 to cut down the tree and another to remove the stump with a cutting machine. Wow! Each crew was in/out in 30 minutes. They work fast, efficient and cleaned up like professionals. Shot out to Rodger for giving recommendations if I were to plant another tree. Not sure where to really start. I don't think that I have ever had an experience with a service that left a sour taste in my mouth as I am pretty understanding. The service itself had many problems. The team showed up 6 hours late so I took the day off for no reason, left all of the branches that fell over my wall there for me to pick up, and made such a mess in the street in front of my house that my HOA requested I clean the street. Freddy's did take $100 off of the price for all of this but to be honest I would have rather paid the extra $100 and had a job done right. Now for the worst of it. My palm tree trunk has been shedding large pieces since the team was out and this has never happened in the past 8 years of me having the tree trimmed. I called Freddy's and they offered to skim the trunk for free. I called them back to accept this offer and struggled to get ahold of them for 3 weeks. I was always told that so and so was in charge of this and would call me back. Today has been 3 weeks of no call back and I was now told that I will need to pay for this since the crew is no longer in my area. Maybe this is just one bad experience from an otherwise decent business but I wouldn't recommend Freddy's to anyone. read more
