This Fred Meyer chain is near to our place. For a new resident of Washington it was confusing as to which grocery chain to stick to. I mean to our surprise grocery in Seattle is expensive than Los Angeles. Hmm. Going through the other chain stores like Safeway and QFC we found Fred Meyer to be somewhat better. They have ample of parking space available. They have weekly deals and coupons which you can get when you sign up for them. I haven't received and any coupons in the mail as I was told but I have downloaded their App on which I can see those coupons and save them on my Fred Meyer rewards card which at check out is applied. We purchased Fuji apples from this store and they were very yummy and juicy. They not only keep grocery but other stuff as well. More like an expensive Walmart if you will.

The checkout line at Shoreline Fred Meyer. They only opened one.

One checkout line at shoreline Fred Meyer on a Sunday night. The line went all the way down the aisle and management did nothing.

This particular location seemed more dark, dingy and old compared to some of the others we have seen. Though the selection was abundant! The self check-out line took too long, the employee in charge working slowly, not noticing us (or others) and the machines consistently getting stuck. Though it's conveniently located, just off of 99, it seems that we either arrived when the store was short-staffed, or it is managed in such a way that saving money is better than assisting their customers.

This site at 175th & 15th has both a well kept grocery store and fuel station. I also feel much safer in the store, parking lot or gas station. I often find all items on my grocery list which also helps towards accuring fuel discount points. Often the prices are as good as Costco without the crazy lines! Selection is decent. Prices are competitive. Interactions with checkout, customer service, and meat department staff have been helpful and personable. This was especially notable during two visits during the holiday season obtaining a free 12 pound turkey, nicely cut 9 pound beef rib roast (timely butcher assistance), and a 10 pound spiral cut ham. I used to cut coupons, then used my ancient Safeway card for savings. However, today (12/23/24) I actually downloaded the app and received significant digital savings on the rib roast and spiral cut ham. As a Shoreline resident, we're lucky to have choices where we shop: Safeway, Fred Meyer, Costco, Trader Joe's, Town & Country, and various international indie markets. This particular Safeway does the job and very glad that earlier mega merger with Kroger did not go through.

The prices are insanely high, they are even higher than PCC for many items. The people that work there are a mix, some are super friendly and nice, but there are a couple weirdos that work there that make me turn around if I walk in and see it's only them working at the registers. Their names are Jimmie and Sam. Sam sells chocolate bars he makes at the store, or the store sells them? Any way, I don't eat chocolate bars or dairy and they are made with milk chocolate. And they are $7. I think it's great to support people, but I won't eat the chocolate bars and the store is already too expensive, so I'm not going to buy it and there is SO MUCH PRESSURE TO BUY THE CHOCOLATE. And Sam has a major attitude because I don't want to buy the stupid chocolate bars. Very passive aggressive. With rising costs everywhere the last thing I want is to be pressured to buy something I don't want at a grocery store when I'm just struggling to survive. And Jimmie is just a major weirdo. There are also a few older ladies that always have an attitude for no apparent. I'm a very friendly and polite person, but I'm also the customer so I shouldn't be the one greeting them and telling them to have a nice day while they basically tell me to f*** off. It's very much a small town vibe and I feel like an outsider the shouldn't be there. I am very grateful for Grocery Outlet opening near by so I mostly go there for last minute items and I avoid Thriftway at all costs because I don't want to be pressured into buying the stupid gross chocolate or deal with weirdos with attitude.

The selection of pastries and breads is vast, and they have many classic Mexican pastry options, such as (what I think is called) a concha. I don't have any other pastry to compare it to, so you'll just have to get one for yourself! The price was great too, the pastry and a bottled water was $3.91. The cashier was efficient. It's not much to look at from the outside, and the inside isn't anything special. I was also hoping an employee greeted me when I walked through the door, but it wasn't a big deal.
