Thanksgiving day and I ask a simple question with a smile on my face. The person who refused to answer my question for whatever reason was the apparent manager named Debbie B. She had AWFUL customer service and was incredibly rude. It was thanksgiving and I've never seen a worse attitude. Absolutely disgusted with this manager and the experience I had because of her. This is our main Fred Meyer at the moment. We live a little closer to the Lake City location, but Seattle has a stupid plastic bag ban, so we usually come here. This is an average sized Fred Meyer with average selection. I've always had perfectly fine customer service. They have a coffee stand and hot deli in the store. I think my husband and I once spent 2 hours here on a kidless date, between eating and shopping. Dates tend to get less exciting after you have kids ;) Location is slightly sketchy, not the best part of Aurora (though certainly not the worst). I wish we lived closer, we have a QFC a block from us, so we end up going there pretty often, and though they are both owned by Kroger, the QFC has higher prices and poorer selection. The store itself is very clean, and you can see the managers out each morning, directing the visual appeal of the store, training staff, etc. They're really on top of things there and have great charisma. Even the public restrooms are kept super-clean and are stocked with air fresheners! The parking lot is HUGE!!!! annnnd of course there's a large bakery/deli section, and lots of items besides groceries (like pots and pans). If you still believe in the goodness of humanity, come to this store, and your faith in people will completely be eradicated. Service is non-existent. Customers are treated with contempt and nonchalance. Your paid for items will be thrown about willy nilly, with reckless impunity, including eggs and fragile vegetables. The staff answers questions with grunts or worse, blank looks. Double check your bill since you will most likely be overcharged. You will fall for the ruse of tagged items on sale, but when the items are rang up, the sales have apparently already expired! No wonder the store's clerks are vile-tempered. Too few of them man the tills so you will visibly age while waiting in line to pay for your groceries only to be met by Grumpy who makes it evident he/she despises the job and you, the paying customer, is somehow the sole party responsible for his/her miserable career choice. read more

This is an older location. I was not pleased with the inventory or the upkeep of the store. It isn't in the ballpark with the location on 196 in Lynnwood. The inventory and layout seems to be designed with stop loss procedures in mind. Theft must be important or prevalent in this area. read more

Warning!! Do not purchase a gift card from this Fred Meyer (or for that matter, any Fred Meyer). Your gift card balance WILL be stolen within a day or two. This has happened 3 separate times to me (different days, different gift cards), with me being out $650. I spoke with the manager, and while acknowledging that they are aware that this is happening, they would do nothing to refund my loss, and they do nothing to warn customers of this problem. I suggested they stop selling gift cards, as all cards are likely compromised, or at least put a sign up warning customers, but they have done nothing since we spoke. My suspicion is that the theft is from someone who works there. I even filed a police report against the theft. Fred Meyer corporate customer service is HORRIBLE. After spending hours on hold on the phone, they would do nothing for me, and were short and rude with me. Although I have shopped weekly at Fred Meyer for many years, certainly spending many thousands of dollars, they do not value their customers at all. They have no problem with a loyal customer of theirs being out $650 due to a defective product that they sold. read more

This is my usual 2nd choice of Fred Meyer based on location. This store gets crowded! The aisles are somewhat tight, but the most difficult problem is displays in the middle of the aisles when carts and shoppers barely fit thru. Some departments/products are skeleton compared to other stores. The produce department is fairly good; the staff probably the best in the store. If you hit the wrong customer service person at the counter, best to try again another day, have really had "all out" bad customer service and attitude there from one gal in particular. Her manager wasn't much better. I ended up leaving the store and this was when I was the only customer at the counter at 7:05 am. The customer base in this store is fairly friendly and laid back, so if you can deal with the tight spaces and smaller selection, not a bad place for quick stops. I did make a jewelry purchase 6 years ago, the staff in that dept was pretty spot on like produce dept. read more

This review is for the pharmacy. Every time I'm here, the line is insane and takes forever. The prescription pick-up spaces seem to actually be used as consultation spaces. I've been here 15 minutes while a woman just stood at a prescription pick-up space while the pharmacists were in the back doing...? Why wasn't she asked to step aside while her prescription was filled so others could check out? I'm only giving this two stars because the folks who work here are friendly. They just need to figure out a better process to move people through the line at rush hour... read more

I normally shop at central market. Today I craved ice cream and I decided to go to my neighborhood Fred Meyers. I hate it. Mind you... I've been here a couple of times before to do quick shopping. The last two times I've been I don't know why I always see a security around me. I am of Hispanic descent but my skin color is dark, so I can be easily African American or even just Ethiopian looking. Today I was just black and the security was around me again. not every black person is a thief!! So OVER this Fred Meyer! It's always packed and the parking lot is a hot mess. DO NOT Shop at Fred Meyer! They no longer sanitize their shopping carts. I witnessed two elderly women question a worker on why they don't. He just ignored them. At the time, there was also no sanitizing wipes available to wipe down the carts yourself. Again, DO NOT SHOP AT FRED MEYER very careless. read more

Before the horrible remodel of this store, customer service was very good. After the remodel, the quality of this store has seriously gone down hill. The checkout lines are always backed up (even in pre-covid times). Some of the clerks are awful and it is obvious they are not happy with their jobs. If you are purchasing only a few times, you must wait in checkout lines behind multiple carts filled to overflowing because the store did away with express checkout stands. This can be a serious physical hardship on officially disabled people. read more

Fred Meyer newly remodel, is much better with premium deli and meat, produce dept. Still missing some items, health, kitchen, I have order from online. Only complaint, security and outside of the store. Panhandlers south side exit of parking lot. And shoplifters, people running out the store not paying. Alarm going off. Too cheap to hire security, and charges 0.5c for paper bag and allowing people bring their non service dogs to shop. One almost bit a child the other day. Some people have allergies. read more

Worst store EVER. I try to buy a pair of earbuds aka iPhone headphones & they refuse to sell them to me claiming their sold out. I know for fact every store that actually doesn't suck has unlimited of everything in the back. If I could I'd tell people because of this to boycott this store. This is seriously the best Fred Meyer I have ever been to. Coming from a person who used to work at Fred Meyer and who has shopped at a lot of them, you know I mean business. All of the associates are immensely helpful and nice. Mike and Joe in the produce section answer my ignorant fruit questions, Gomez helps me find products in the food aisles, and mary makes me the best coffee. So I was there today and the entire entrance way smelled of pot. Ok. There were at least 3 dogs on leashes in the grocery aisles, not to mention dogs in the baby seats of shopping carts. Yuk! I came here last weekend (Sunday afternoon) and the place was even worse than before. Big ol' crap hole! Get a clue people!

The way they execute the checkout is the most ridiculous and inefficient process I have experienced. Fred Meyer in general has been going downhill in price and quality in my opinion for a couple years now despite the remodeling of stores they don't close. This Fred Meyer has the worst cck checkout cashiers I've ever experienced. Unfriendly and cold. The lines are always out of control and when I'm finally to the register, my items are always scanned and carelessly shoved to the back of the register to a stacked up pile. Only after I pay do they bag my groceries, it's happened to me every time I've come here and I have taken note other cashiers do this too. It backs up the line. To top it off, when my groceries are finally bagged (sometimes the cashier actually gets out from behind the register to go to where they made the pile of my groceries, sometimes a bagger will eventually show up) I can always guarantee my items will be treated like trash-- cold items put in the same bag as hot items, smashed bread loaf, using one item I purchased to reach and gather other groceries toward them into a pile. Seriously? It all seems to be a huge inconvenience to the disgruntled cashiers and baggers to do what, I assume, they're hired for. I've tried setting my items on the belt in orderly manner with all cold items together, hot items together, gentle things last, but with the rough rapid scanning and just shoving all items in a pile, it has never made a difference in how they bag or what they bag together. It is the most ridiculous check out procedure I've ever witnessed. I'm done with this Fred Meyer. I'd rather go to Thriftway or Safeway across the freeway. read more

So terrible.. I come to Fred Meyer to get a fan and a shelf to put the fan on. I asked 3-4 different staff member and no one seemed to understand what I was asking for. I was going to ask a fifth employee where those items would be located but she was too busy on her cell phone, and when she saw me start walking toward her she walked in the other direction. When I first moved to Washington 4 years ago, I was thrilled to find this Fred Meyer. I thought the prices and selection were great, the produce always fresh, and the employees very friendly and helpful. The woman at the fish and meat counter is phenomenal!!! and I love that they will place your fish in a cooking bag with herbs and seasonings. However, The last two times I have gone have been terrible, and I'm really surprised because I would expect that with a new Trader Joe's having opened around the corner that they would at least try to keep good service and even step up their game but no, they have just gone downhill. This last time I went in, there was a man in front of me with five bags of groceries in the 12 item express lane. Not 15 items, not 20 items, five bags!! I walked over and mentioned it to Joe, who it seems may be in a supervisory position? and he agreed with me that that this was unfortunate, and that there wasn't a lot that they could do, although they try to prevent it. Ok, so now it's my turn at the checkout and the cashier Jamie doesn't even say hello. I mentioned to her that it is a bummer when people feel so entitled that they need to bring five bags of groceries worth to the express lane even though there are no lines at the other family friendly checkouts. Her comment to me "I try not to let the little things get to me". Oh so now I'm in the wrong and I have a choice to defend myself or just let it go... Her next comment to me "i'm sorry you're having a bad day". WOW!! I get to my car, and look at my receipt , and while there had been a $1 coupon on my laundry detergent, which she took off, but she never applied it. In addition, she charged me twice for the fish item that I purchased. $6.49 incorrectly charged . Now I have to go and stand in line at the customer service counter, and Cherie, who was extremely friendly and professional, processed my refund. So now it's been 40 minutes just to go in and buy five items. I ask for the manager, and Lena comes out. She seemed like she could care less and says no, she cannot offer me any compensation. (At Safeway if your item price is wrong, it is free). She says only the store manager can do that, so I gave her my business card and say that I would like him/her to call me, that will let me know if I should bother trying to shop here again. 24 hours later and no call from store manager. For almost 4 years I was very happy at the store, but the last two times have been stressful and frustrating. The time before this, I contacted customer service via phone and was treated so rudely and I really felt that they could care less, so I will not bother with that ever again. Too bad Fred Meyer, no wonder you're not busy anymore, because there's friendly service & good prices right around the corner at Trader Joe's. You used to get ALL my business. No more. read more

I'm not too thrilled with this Fred Meyer. I've been to others and my favorite is definitely the 85th St Fred Meyer or the 196th St one but unfortunately this Fred Meyer is the closest to me which makes it the more logical shopping destination. That being said, Trader Joes recently opened up so they may be receiving more of my business though I am condemned to frequent this Fred Meyer for house hold goods outside of food. This Fred Meyer reminds me that it is on 99. From the moment you pull in, you're reminded that Aurora is literally right there. You come in and are assaulted by ill kept shelves and dirty aisles. The items are every which way and there is always an employee standing in the dead center doing something unproductive. Some of the staff here will actually argue with you...Their saving grace is a limited selection of their employees, to be more precise the ones that more often than not oversee the self checkout lanes. The light skinned black guy that wears shorts sometimes and two of the girls. They are pretty nice people and are quick to assist or answer a question. They are the reason I gave two stars. Outside of that, the remainder of the tellers don't seem to like their jobs or have become so disillusioned by their working life that they've simply said "f**k it." They either work incredibly slowly or talk rubbish. When I come shopping I want to be in and out. This Fred Meyer makes me think that it is a Wal-Mart in disguise. I have asked a worker where something was and they actually said "Sorry, I'm on break." I don't know who makes the staffing decisions but it needs to be thought over. I've been going to Fred Meyers for years and years. Although I love them, I feel like their prices and not staying competitive. I think you'll find at least a 20% markup of grocery items compared to other stores like target or Walmart. For example they're charging $5 for 100 bags of Lipton tea when you can get it at Target for $3.29. Their produce is also getting pretty expensive. I found much better prices at Ranch Market.
