This Fred Meyer chain is near to our place. For a new resident of Washington it was confusing as to which grocery chain to stick to. I mean to our surprise grocery in Seattle is expensive than Los Angeles. Hmm. Going through the other chain stores like Safeway and QFC we found Fred Meyer to be somewhat better. They have ample of parking space available. They have weekly deals and coupons which you can get when you sign up for them. I haven't received and any coupons in the mail as I was told but I have downloaded their App on which I can see those coupons and save them on my Fred Meyer rewards card which at check out is applied. We purchased Fuji apples from this store and they were very yummy and juicy. They not only keep grocery but other stuff as well. More like an expensive Walmart if you will.

One checkout line at shoreline Fred Meyer on a Sunday night. The line went all the way down the aisle and management did nothing.

This particular location seemed more dark, dingy and old compared to some of the others we have seen. Though the selection was abundant! The self check-out line took too long, the employee in charge working slowly, not noticing us (or others) and the machines consistently getting stuck. Though it's conveniently located, just off of 99, it seems that we either arrived when the store was short-staffed, or it is managed in such a way that saving money is better than assisting their customers.

Fred Meyer's was clean and the clerks were nice. We found everything we needed. We recommend shopping here.

This site at 175th & 15th has both a well kept grocery store and fuel station. I also feel much safer in the store, parking lot or gas station. I often find all items on my grocery list which also helps towards accuring fuel discount points. Often the prices are as good as Costco without the crazy lines! Selection is decent. Prices are competitive. Interactions with checkout, customer service, and meat department staff have been helpful and personable. This was especially notable during two visits during the holiday season obtaining a free 12 pound turkey, nicely cut 9 pound beef rib roast (timely butcher assistance), and a 10 pound spiral cut ham. I used to cut coupons, then used my ancient Safeway card for savings. However, today (12/23/24) I actually downloaded the app and received significant digital savings on the rib roast and spiral cut ham. As a Shoreline resident, we're lucky to have choices where we shop: Safeway, Fred Meyer, Costco, Trader Joe's, Town & Country, and various international indie markets. This particular Safeway does the job and very glad that earlier mega merger with Kroger did not go through.

So today, Saturday 8 April 2023, I came to check out the bakery options as Safeway tends to have a good variety of baked good items. I was in luck and got the last jalapeño and cheddar cheese bagel from the bakery bulk foods as well as a slice of a lemon mousse cake. Both items were delicious and well priced. I was particularly impressed with the cake offerings. The self check out was busy, but easy to navigate and the machines straightforward to use and glitch free. Parking was abundant and located near the entrance.

There aren't a lot of staff on the floor (like EVERY grocery store) but they are helpful and knowledgeable. Packaged, bulk and organic veggies. Not the prettiest in town but that's ok. Well-stocked, reasonably priced refrigerated salad dressing. Large bulk item section. Smallish bakery section. Reasonably priced meats (some name brands). Extensive dairy section with Darigold FIT milk. Organic eggs. The seasonal aisle is up front. That's where things go on sale. They haven't reorganized in the years I've been shopping here. Once you're familiar with the layout, zoom. Good prices every day. No loss leaders. If you're worried one of the big three has something on sale, price check with their apps. Self checkout (15 recommended limit) is now debit only. You can use Apple Pay if you have a cash card installed. Cash is now (late 2025) taken only at staffed registers. No CCs. May not be the best store for once-a-month shopping as you bag your own (unless there are two folks shopping). I have never seen a shopping cart filled with trash. Occasionally there might be a plastic veggie bag. No boxes like at Costco unless you bring your own. Don't like their bags? Bring your own. (All stores here charge for bags; it's the law.) A few plants outside. Nothing like Freddy's or even QFC. Big parking lot. Hungry? Run to Dick's! Smallish hot food section in the store. What's not to like? Seasonal items were also well presented. Looking for cards, I found some though they were on the pricey side per my experience. Looking to see it they had a small candy item, I found good variety and prices in the chocolate bar options. I chose a dark chocolate Chocolove chilies and cherries item that was less than $3.50. The prices are insanely high, they are even higher than PCC for many items. The people that work there are a mix, some are super friendly and nice, but there are a couple weirdos that work there that make me turn around if I walk in and see it's only them working at the registers. Their names are Jimmie and Sam. Sam sells chocolate bars he makes at the store, or the store sells them? Any way, I don't eat chocolate bars or dairy and they are made with milk chocolate. And they are $7. I think it's great to support people, but I won't eat the chocolate bars and the store is already too expensive, so I'm not going to buy it and there is SO MUCH PRESSURE TO BUY THE CHOCOLATE. And Sam has a major attitude because I don't want to buy the stupid chocolate bars. Very passive aggressive. With rising costs everywhere the last thing I want is to be pressured to buy something I don't want at a grocery store when I'm just struggling to survive. And Jimmie is just a major weirdo. There are also a few older ladies that always have an attitude for no apparent. I'm a very friendly and polite person, but I'm also the customer so I shouldn't be the one greeting them and telling them to have a nice day while they basically tell me to f*** off. It's very much a small town vibe and I feel like an outsider the shouldn't be there. I am very grateful for Grocery Outlet opening near by so I mostly go there for last minute items and I avoid Thriftway at all costs because I don't want to be pressured into buying the stupid gross chocolate or deal with weirdos with attitude.

I don't have any other pastry to compare it to, so you'll just have to get one for yourself! The price was great too, the pastry and a bottled water was $3.91. The cashier was efficient. It's not much to look at from the outside, and the inside isn't anything special. I was also hoping an employee greeted me when I walked through the door, but it wasn't a big deal.
