We ordered the carmelita and our waitress recommended adding garlic and it was yumm. The pizza sauce isnt too heavy and you don't feel heavy after eating which is a plus. I dined here with my wife on a Sunday and it was the most delicious pizza I can remember eating in Miami, FL. I have been craving this pizza ever since I ate it. We started with the caesar salad. It was the best Caesar salad in Miami. Yes, it beats all the "hype" caesers like Carbone and Sunnys and it's made with this tahini dressing that you want to drink or bottle for home. We had the carmelita pizza and added pepperoni and honey. The pizza was pure perfection. I can't wait to go back and eat it again. It is a lovely thin crust pizza. The location is small and it's in the area of Flagler in downtown Miami that is currently under construction. There were some interesting characters on the street and you might consider ubering. Fratesi is a bright spot amid Downtown's blocks of shutdown businesses as we await a revival of the area. The spot feels like one you'd pop into in New York with very chill, laid-back neighborhood vibes. We didn't make a reservation so we had to wait about 20-25 minutes or so for the bar, but that was to be expected given the popularity and size of the restaurant. Just know there isn't a place to sit down and wait inside so you'll want to be prepared to stand outside or walk around. The pizza was going to take about 20 minutes to make so our server recommended that we order the Tahini Caesar Salad to start, which was delicious--a different twist on the classic Caesar for sure. It sucks that this is the review I'm leaving, but alas. We were dying to go to Fratesi Pizza for weeks. We'd seen all the reviews. All the pictures. And so we knew what we were going to be in for. Today we decided to go and enjoy some pizza. The streets and parking around East Flagler were closed and so we had to walk with my disabled grandmother-in-law. The space itself is unassuming but very cool. It feels like an actual NYC pizza place. However, the service was not it. Upon arriving we were told that the wait would be 2 hours. We tried explaining that we called multiple times but they said they only take reservations through Resy and that they DO NOT answer the phone during service. So don't bother calling them because what do they have a phone number for? Also while we were there we saw them answer the phone multiple times. To make matters worse, a young man who was working the front told us, "if you want a place to eat there's a bar down the street." If that's the type of place that is being considered the best pizza in Miami then bye. I don't care and I know for sure you don't care about us cause if you did this review wouldn't have been written. Now let me tell you, as a New Yorker, any reputable NYC pizza place would never turn away a walk-in. Let alone a customer that was ready to throw money down right then and there with his family of 6 to enjoy some pizza. For me? I don't care how good your food is or how bad I want your crispy succulent pizza. At least pick up the phone. If you got in and had a enjoyable time? I'm so glad you did. But for me and my family? I would NOT recommend sitting outside because the building across the street is completely delapatated and the smells deducting of mold and mildew. They need to tear it down ASAP read more

Fratesi's Pizza was an extraordinary find! We stumbled upon it on a night out and were very happy we found it. The pizza is thin crust and although thin crust is not my favorite, this pizza was packed full of flavor. We had a Carmelita with a side of hot honey and the combination was a perfect blend of salty, cheesy, sweet, and spicy. The sauce was delicious and the crust was nice and crispy. We had a a tahini caesar salad on the side which provided a fresh and creamy contrast to the pizza. The restaurant itself was nice and classy and made my feel like I was in a NY pizzeria. The lighting was nice and although the restaurant was busy it wasn't loud and we were able to have a nice conversation. Lastly, service was amazing as well. The host was polite, nice, and funny and quickly found us a table. Our waitress was also professional, nice, and very knowledgeable about the menu and helped make the meal enjoyable. The only thing I could complain about are the weird shirt water glasses and location. And the first is just being super picky and the second is complete envy of anyone that lives closer than I do. The menu is brief, two salads and less than a dozen specialty pies which make it easier to control quality. I heard again and again how good the Caesar salad was making it hard to live up to the hype. But it exceeded my expectations, live the tahini added a depth of flavor and even my salad hating 12 year old was tearing it up. The croutons, in this case being pulverized into a crunchy topping, were a massive hit. The Vodka Pie was up there with any great pizza I've had in this town. Super crunchy crust with a delightfully creamy top. Very little crust as the filler runs all the way to the edges. Cheese is freshly grated just before serving. Our half Pig Girl/Gennaro was good but didn't quite match the Vodka Pie. Service was extremely friendly and a total team effort as no less than 4 people stopped by our table. Loved the vintage lamps reminding me of pizza joints of the 80's which complete the pizza joint vibes. If Miami ever gets its construction road work act together (highly unlikely), I'll be back often. read more

So we had meandered around and I receive the text, we ran back in 7. minutes only to arrive for the host to tell us we lost our table. Miami's pizza game has been going strong lately and Fratesi's Pizza just leveled it up. Their pizza gets high marks for me- Cracker crisp crust, a rich and flavorful tomato sauce, a banging blend of quality cheeses, and cooked to absolute perfection. Great service from calling in to picking up. The woman who helped me was beyond genuine. Be mindful that there is only outside seating (as the restaurant, Tam Tam, is technically closed on Sundays), and it's limited. Most people picked up and left, but I stayed for the Sunday views of the Courthouse. Overall, I absolutely loved it. Amazing and the best pizza in Miami in my opinion. Had it first when they had it on Sundays only at Tam Tam and just last night. Very happy quality, taste and freaking delicious crust is still there. We couldn't get a table as we had no reservations but hey we had a glass of wine while waiting and sat in the sidewalk to eat it right away. A lot of the negative reviews seem to stem from the long waits, which is understandable no one really wants to wait an hour for pizza. That said, the pizza itself is worth trying. My only critique is the style: the base is more like a cracker with no real crust along the edge. As much as I love extra cheese, a great pizza should still have a little crust to balance it out. We had a half plain and a half the feast of San Gennaro and both were amazing. The sauce, the flavor, it's just on point. I also love that the place reminds me of the inside of an old Pizza Hut, but elevated. I'm talking wood paneling, booths, brick walls, red tile and those stained glass pendant lamps (IYKYK). But my issue is being charged an 18% automatic gratuity when I had only one brief interaction with my waitress -- and in that moment, she forgot the one thing I asked for. We waited 20 minutes past our reservation, then another 15 minutes before anyone came over. The busboy ended up taking our order, and the first time we met our actual waitress was when she brought out the pizza. I asked for a cup of ice, but it never came. I didn't ask to remove the gratuity, as I hope it gets shared with the busboy and kitchen staff who clearly worked hard. But it's frustrating to pay a mandatory tip when the assigned server barely engaged with us. read more

I randomly came across Fratesi's on Instagram and I said I had to go the next time I visited Miami. The Red Top pizza (vegan) is very good! Very thin crust, no flop, super sweet sauce that goes all the way to the edge of the crust, fresh basil and garlic. High-quality ingredients. However, the rest of the experience was extremely frustrating. Resy said no reservations, so I went to order online. It said not taking orders. I checked a couple hours later and the site was taking orders and it said an hour wait. We got to the restaurant a little early and they actually had a couple tables available. But they couldn't seat us inside because we already had a to-go order placed. Whatever. They said 10-15 minutes til our order was ready. The staff was pretty much clueless and it ended up taking 35 minutes from when we first arrived. It was only a little bit longer than the initial estimate but the operations are incredibly sloppy and it ruined the excitement. Overall, worth trying the pizza but they need to work on the customer experience. read more

What is the hype? My mom I have been trying to get a reservation for over a month finally we get a 5 pm. First the location, as a local, I knew the inconvenience of downtown but this is a different type first all the roads are closed you have to park 3 blocks away then the parking 3 blocks away is $30 for an hour. We order the salad and our waitress says do you want cheese for the Cesar salad so we assume it's so extra fancy topping nope the Cesar salad does not come with cheese and it's $2 to add cheese. Isn't that what a Cesar salad is? I've never seen Cesar come without cheese in my life. Then tbh the dressing was super tart and not pleasant. We then order half cheese half demon pig girl I will say I love that the sausage was chicken and not pork so A+ for that.
