I'm giving Fratesi's five stars because the atmosphere and the crew working here are absolutely wonderful - like flashback to a the charm of the 1980s! The pizza is very high-quality and the crust is super thin, which I love. The ingredients are fresh and the salad are fab. My only thing is the cheese isn't really my style because it does have a Parmesan-esque type of flavor & texture. But that might be some type of specialty or blend that I'm not aware of. The place is very popular so I'm sure people love their cheese. Personally, I prefer a pure buffalo mozzarella. No matter what - this restaurant is in a class of its own so it deserves props! You should definitely give it a try if you haven't already! read more

This pizza was awesome! Some of the best I've had in Miami. I miss New England pizza sooo much, so this was a great find. The crust was very thin, crispy, and held up extremely well to the toppings. Limited topping options, but very cool pies. If the review was solely about the food I would give a 4 star. We got one pizza and water, and the bill was $50. That's pretty crazy to me, but I guess that's just eating out in Miami anymore. What we didn't love was that we were told it would be over an hour for a table inside, so we agreed to an outside table because we were so excited to try this spot. The couple who walked in after us who also didn't have a reservation got sat at an inside table only 5 minutes after we got ours outside. I'm 6 months pregnant and it was extremely hot outside, so I didn't appreciate being told it would be over one hour for a table that opened up right away. They also had some very interesting music choices... they played "my d!ck" by Mickey Avalon, and was truly the wildest music I've ever heard at a restaurant. I waited a long time for the opportunity to go to try this delicious pizza and it was sooo worth the wait! My party of 3 didn't have reservations but we got there early enough to snag a few seats at the bar, which was actually perfect. They had a movie showing (The Mummy) so it definitely brought the nostalgic 90s pizza spot vibes and I live for it. We started with THEE tahini Caesar salad and friends that's no ordinary salad. It is topped with crispy breadcrumbs, tossed in the perfect amount of dressing and layered with bed of freshly grated cheese that just makes you want to devour the entire thing face first, lol. To drink they offer wines, beers and non alcoholic drinks but we got a nice bottle of Prosecco to share. Now down to pies, the Carmelita is heavenly and was our top contender. Fratesi's is the perfect addition to Downtown and hits the mark on the food, service and atmosphere. The restaurant is small but feels very welcoming and has an old school pizza place vibe. All of the staff and servers were great as well. For food, we got the tahini Cesar and half demon pig girl and half San Gerrano. Both were delicious. The crust is perfectly crispy and the toppings don't overwhelm the pizza. This place lives up to the hype and I will be back! We had a great time at Fratesi! A bit of an adventure to find, i suggest parking about 5 minutes away in a garage and then walking. There is a nice old school tavern restaurant as well as outdoor seating. We sat outside. The hostess and waitress were very friendly and accommodating. They let me wait at the table longer while my friends were stuck in traffic. We started off with the tahini caeser. I was a bit reluctant after reading the reviews online, but it is a MUST GET if you like caesar and tahini. The nutty notes really come through and i love the crunchy breadcrumbs atop the fresh salad. The perfect pairing to a any pizza. For pizzas we had the vodka pie and the demon pig boy. We ordered extra hot honey and drizzled it over the vodka pie it is sooo good. The pizza is thin and crispy with no flop. The sauce is properly spiced. The demon pig boy has a bit of a spicy kick. It is very tasty with the pepperoni, chili oil, and peppers. It was a bit too much for my palate, i preferred the vodka. It's nice to have a simple pie sometimes. Really enjoy this thinner style of pizza. Reminds me of a good new haven style pie! They prepare it thin and bake it hot so the bottom is ever so slightly charred and the results are delicious. The menu is pretty simple with a few salads and a few pizza options - and the pizzas and salads themselves are pretty simple. This works well here, they give the pizza itself an opportunity to shine. Fratesi's Pizza absolutely lives up to the hype. I went on a Sunday afternoon, was able to walk in without a reservation and get seated immediately at the bar, huge plus. While afternoons are easy for walk-ins, I highly recommend making a reservation if you're going for dinner after 5pm, as that's when they start taking reservations and the place really fills up. We started with the tahini Caesar salad, which was an excellent and a great way to kick things off. For pizza, we ordered a half plain pie and half pepperoni with hot honey, plus a whole pie with sausage, peppers, and onions and a bolted of white wine. Every single slice was delicious. Yes Fratesi's Pizza is that good. A great bar thin crust pizza with delicious toppings and a perfectly charred bottom that leaves your mouth salivating for more. And yes it is also a real pain to get a table here. The reservation system is cutthroat and once you get to the restaurant you will most likely have to wait a bit for your table and also wait a bit for the food to come out. My advice is to make a reservation for right when it opens and then still show up 20 minutes before that. Any other method and you will be waiting at some point in the process. The restaurant is good though, decorated like an old school bar with brickwork and posters about. The booths feel private and comfortable for four people. And the wait staff is pretty nice considering there's probably a lot of people who are constantly upset. But overall the pizza is good and worth coming to. My son called me recently to say he and his girlfriend had scored a reservation at the viral spot... Fratesi's. First came the salad... large, crunchy, and topped with the most addictive crispies. Then came the RED TOP, my son's girlfriend's pick. Vegan and cheeseless, but full of flavor. I especially loved the thin slices of garlic scattered throughout. My son had raved about how crisp and thin the pizza was -- and he was right. #ZeroFlop. I had been wanting to go to Fratesi's for some time and I finally got the chance a couple of weeks ago and I am glad that I did. The decor of the restaurant feels like an old school pizzeria/Italian restaurant and I absolutely loved it because you feel like you're in another era and it is just a chill vibe. We got the demon pig boy and I loved it as I love spicy food! If you do not like spiciness, this is not the pizza for you. I thought it was delicious and I am very much into the thin crispy pizza these days. We got a bottle of white wine that was nicely priced in my opinion and tasted yummy. Finally made it here, thank you Miami Film Festival for getting me to the Olympia Theater so much this week. The Olympia is one of my favorite venues in Miami, plus my eldest graduated here and thus, a cherished memory. Yes, Fratesi . . . in spite of this part (and several parts) of Flagler being closed to thru traffic, I found a spot and walked a block over. Inside was full, and the few tables outside were also full. I'm going to go ahead and add a note here about the incredible dichotomy between the seemingly carefree residents of the newest towers downtown, and the dozen upon dozens of homeless and drug users I encountered walking from parking, to the Olympia, to Fratesi, back to parking over about six hours yesterday. Miami keeps building, but we ignore the human conditions that exist, and aren't going anywhere. Affordable housing won't do anything for our homeless population. Also, I'm practically a native and I wasn't scared, but I was shocked at the difference walking around downtown after dark. If you're not from here, I wouldn't recommend going alone (unless you Uber) and always pay attention to your surroundings. Yes, Fratesi . . . this was pleasantly different. I've spent a lot of time in NY, NJ, PA and IL and haven't had a pizza like this. Almost a flatbread, I followed the recommendations of most and ordered a Plain Pie and Demon Pig Boy. The Demon is hot, but not too hot if you enjoy heat. I am surprised to admit my favorite is the Plain Pie. The sauce is so good and the ratio is perfect. I'd go back for this one. I expected a lot from the Tahini Caesar. The veg was great, very fresh, but the dressing, nor the leaves were really seasoned. I'm thrilled to have finally tried a famous Fratesi pie, and I will be back! read more

The server was really helpful and friendly and they brought the food out very quickly. Even after we had our food. They were still attentive. The tahini cesar salad is a standout. Nestled in the heart of downtown. The best way to find it is to follow the road block area near Wells Fargo. I parked on the street and walked a few blocks is the best solution or the nearby parking garage. Upon entering you get a very cozy ambiance with the red color walls to look like bricks, almost like a wood fire oven. It's small not too big. I sat at the bar where there were about 8 chairs. Claude my server was very friendly and recommended the spicy pepperoni pizza. The pizza was huge and it only comes in one size.
