I worked here in 1984 for my first Hob when I was 16 year old. I made $3.35 an hour (minimum wage). I stopped back in to visit Fratellos and get the same meal me and my friends ate every week. Honestly I'd give this place 2.5 stars, but I would not bump them up to a 3, so 2 it is, lol. In terms of food, I'd say Fratellos is definitely above average. Good Hot Dogs and Beef Sandwiches. The fries seem to be missing something, but are serviceable. Issues I have with Fratellos is they have what I call Portillo's pricing without the quality/service that is expected at the price they charge. 10-20% off prices would make much more attractive of an option and cause me to come here more regularly. I do not like the inside at all here, in fact I don't even consider it an option, they are a take out only place to me. Inside feels cramped, dirty and uncomfortable. read more

I love a good family owned hot dog joint that believes in good customer service and good food! The owner was on the grill and he even told us about the special gyro meat that is made just for this restaurant with a higher beef content and very minimal filler so that it is just plain yummy with no weird gyro aftertaste the next day. The gyro is topped with their own tzaziki (sp??) sauce made in house. The chocolate shake and skinny cut fries are as good as they get! The chocolate shake kind of tasted a little malty too which I love! Prices are very reasonable and there are even 10 or so booth seats in the restaurant. Fast drive-through service too. I actually had the garden salad today and it is a big portion with fresh crisp green lettuce, cabbage, tomato, green pepper, cucumber and croutons. I just ordered a patty melt from Fratello's in Rolling Meadows and it was amazing! While I have ordered from the before and always been pleased, this sandwich as delicious. It was hot and was loaded with ooey gooey cheese. While I might have preferred a few more grilled onions, I really enjoyed this sandwich. I will definitely order another the next time I go. We both ordered the different wraps on the menu, I got the chicken caesar & my boyfriend got the bacon one & asked for no dressing because it makes him sick. We got home with our food & my boyfriend's wrap was covered in dressing & had to throw the whole thing out. Mine was made correct but was the worst wrap I have ever had. Wow, best gyros we've ever had! The pita bread they use is so good and the onions are sweet, not overpowering. Yummy sauce and plenty of it on this huge sandwich. My husband loves the beef and sausage combo. (Much better than Portillos). The milkshakes are delicious and made with fresh strawberries. Our new go-to place. Wish we had tried it sooner. read more

First off, the guy that was taking our order was extremely rude and rushed us to find out when we finally received our order, it was completely wrong. The customer service really needs to step it up because to treat the people that are keeping your business open like that is pretty sad. Place is small and okay. Boyfriend always gets a gyro and loves that the salt is put on the side for your taste. I did just visit yesterday and ordered a fettuccine Alfredo with Italian sausage and cheese fries along with the boyfriends gyro. Don't know if I'll be ordering from here again. The fries tasted as if they had been sitting for a while (even though the place was dead, which was probably why) and the fettuccine was expensive and not worth it. This was my first time at Fratellos. Their online ordering does not work well or they just don't pay attention to what you write. Ordered at 3:45 and chose pick up time of 4:15. I got an email that my order would be ready at 3:57. 18 minutes early. So much for hot and fresh! Arrived at the drive up (4:14) to find a sign saying they charge a 3.7% surcharge for using a credit card. Since credit card processing fees average around 2% I thought this was extremely high and was miffed that they charge it at all. This is not disclosed on their online ordering site. The rest of the family thought their food was fine but I ordered a cheeseburger and put in the special instructions, no BBQ sauce. Well, my burger had BBQ sauce on it. I gave up after 2 bites. Don't like BBQ on my burgers. It was 4:15 in the afternoon, well before the dinner rush. I was the only one there. I see no reason for this lack of attention to detail. Living in Rolling Meadows, I drive by this restaurant just about every day. Somehow, I have never stopped in to try it. Craving a good Chicago dog, we decided to break our Fratello's cherry today. The premise is FILTHY. It is outdated, run down and cramped on the inside. Personally, I don't mind a greasy spoon if the food is good, but Fratello's failed here as well. We ordered a couple of hot dogs, French fries and onion rings. The hot dogs were some of the most bland that I have ever tasted. Imagine a hot dog that sat in water for about 2 hours before you ate it.....just rubbery and no flavor whatsoever. I added sweet peppers to mine, and they must have been bathing in the same fluid as the hot dogs. They were cold, and had zero taste. The kicker.....was the overpricing. 5 hot dogs, onion rings and fries with a drink was $25. I can eat at a joint like Tommy's in Crystal Lake and spend half that on the same order and get food that is at least better tasting. this place is so yummmy, i've been looking for the best gyros in the area, and by far fratellos has the best, i think its because of the tzatziki sauce. the fries aren't bad, and i love the cheese fries! The only downside is that its a little on the expensive side, but whenever i'm craving cheese fries and whenever my uncle brings home some gyros i'll eat it! oh and the shakes are pretty tasty too! =] read more

I've lived in Arlington Heights for more than 20 years and had never heard of this place until someone recently mentioned in on NextDoor as having pretty good Italian beef (people were looking for alternatives to Portillo's). I looked at their website and noticed they had 'char' burgers and was family owned. That's my kind of place -- old school Chicago. I was at the Jewel nearby so decided to pick up a hamburger on my way home. At 1 p.m. there was not one car in the parking lot. From the outside the place looks sad and derelict but, hey, sometimes looks can be deceiving. I saw there was a drive-thru so went there. I asked if they could make my burger not too well done and the young woman at the window said they cook them well done for health reason. That was my first clue. Pulled up to the window and gave her $7.29 (1/3 lb. burger) and she handed me the bag. I said "What, it's ready already? How is that possible?" It was obvious she had been asked that before because her answer 'We just took them them off the grill and they were sitting in their juices' rolled off her tongue. At this point I knew this was a waste of my money. Went home and saw it was a burger that had been frozen, cooked somehow, and then sat in juices or water that resulted in it being steamed, creating a rubbery watery burger. Ugh! It could have been cooked 2-3 days ago for all I know. I took 2 bites and threw the rest out. I had looked forward to it and also trying Italian beef and hot dogs in the future. I won't be back EVER. I had to review this place again. Got just a regular gyros and fries and I cannot believe how good it was! I love gyros and Pano's in Cal City always was #1 with me, but after today, I give that distinction to Fratello's. And I can't believe the portions! That gyro was enormous, loaded with delicious meat and toppings. I went back a couple days later and got the beef dipped with hot peppers. I believe this place has been here since 1980-81, taking the place of a Jack-in-the-Box. I have tried their burger both voluntarily and in "emergency meal" mode perhaps a dozen times over the years and they never satisfied me. My last (and final) visit was about 1 month ago, and all I thought of while eating the burger & fries was I should have gone to McDonalds across the street instead. Although the specifics of the meal over time elude me, I do remember throwing about 1/2 of the burger & most of the fries away in the garbage, being definitely not tasteworthy. Probably only those patrons with an "acquired taste" and an "iron clad" stomach have kept this place open for so many years. read more

How can I not love Fratellos, I have been coming here since I was a Tot! Many of my food "phases" have stem'd from here, the Pizza Puff Phase, Cheese Dog Phase, Italian Beef Phase, etc. Its always a good place to come, because the people behind the counter are having a good time. Also there food is very very good, Fratellos still has my favorite hot dogs from the surrounding area. The only draw back is that they are a little pricey. Fratellos have been and always will be one of my favorite places in the Northwest Suburbs! read more
