We went to Frank's again last night. We dined there on NYE 2026, but I had to enjoy Frank's perfect Filet Mignon, because lasagna wasn't on the NYE menu. No complaints, but I was hankering for their amazing lasagna. It was....you guessed it, amazing! Frank's food, service, prices, and atmosphere all encourage you to keep coming back. The bonus is that everyone gets to meet Frank as he goes table to table greeting each customer. Love this place! Recommed it for eveyone who eats. That includes you. read more

First of all the restaurant was gorgeous. I loved the Christmas lights outside. The food was delicious. We ordered the bruschetta for an appetizer and it was very good. For an entree my wife ordered the gnocchi with vodka sauce and a side order of shrimp. It was terrific. I ordered the ribeye. It was pretty good. I would say average. I think the onions could have been sautéed a little more but that is just nitpicking. It was a very good steak. We had the blueberry cheesecake for desert and it was great. The service was absolutely second to none. Our server was tremendous. Really elevated the dinner. Our only complaint was that it was a little close seating and there was a very loud gentleman sitting next to us who was swearing and being lewd. Normally doesn't bother me any but didn't like it during my anniversary dinner (and in front of my wife). We will definitely be back. read more

I've always said you can judge a restaurant by their calamari, Franks is not good. More on that later. I have to say I read all the reviews before I went so I was expecting a great experience or a fight with the owner. Either way, could be a fun experience. The ambiance is very cozy and pleasant, we were greeted by the hostess and seated instantly. Our server showed up a minute later, couldn't be more pleasant and took our drink order. The place was packed but the service was fantastic! The drinks were great and delivered swiftly. I ordered calamari for two reasons: one, I like it and two, it's a good bellwether to determine if the other offerings are any good. It wasn't, the calamari rule holds. I got the linguine with clams and my wife got the shrimp scampi. Both were mediocre as was the calamari. Just a tad overcooked and super chewy. The clams were way overcooked and like brown sticky boogers soaked in oil. Not sure how they do that but was a first for me. The garlic bread and salad was great. So that's what we had plus 2 bar drinks each, racked up a $120 bill before tip. If it was an $85 bill, I'd say ok, but the food quality wasn't there. Service was great! First time coming to Frank's. Met the owner, who is very passionate about his restaurant and good Italian food. Had the best espresso martini I've ever had from the bar. Tried some appetizers like the aranchini and artichoke. Both very good! Topped that off with some rigatoni and bolognese that was fantastic. I've celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and even my after-wedding meal here at Frank's over the last 5 or 6 years. The food is without a doubt some of the best in the area. Just as impressive is the service - outta this world, that's hard to come by in this era. It isn't out of the ordinary for Frank to greet you at the host stand with recognition due to past patronage. If he's busy brining a table a sampling of recently-aquired olive oil or other samplings from a recent trip to Italy, one of the other members of staff are just as friendly and eager to greet and please; I'm a sucker for friendly people as you can tell. I'm always beside myself with the ambiance, friendly waitstaff, and truly excellent food. Lastly, the bar is its own universe. My wife is non-alcoholic, and they are always stoked to try finding her something other than a shirley temple with extra grenadine to enjoy. read more

Decided to try Franks for the first time for our anniversary dinner, even though the reviews were mixed. I'm so glad we did. Mariya met us when we arrived and gave us a lovely table. The restaurant has 3 dining rooms, so we did not feel crowded. A relaxing atmosphere with classic Italian music playing. I had the arancini balls, eggplant penna, which came with salad and garlic bread. My husband had traditional spaghetti and meatballs, cappuccino and shared a cannoli for dessert. Everything was delicious, the portions were large. Mariya took excellent care of us, and Frank came out to meet us and was kind and welcoming. A nice addition to choose from among the many good Italian restaurants in our area. We will return. read more

We reserved a table for 9 people for 6:30pm. We were told to wait at the bar until table ready. Table ready finally at 7:45pm only after checking in multiple times. Spent $100 at the bar and almost needed a second round of drinks before getting seated. Hostess pointed to our table in the back, did not lead us or seat us herself. No drinks were requested or served, then appetizer orders were taken and didn't arrive for another hour. Finally got dinner at 9:00pm. No mention of delays or concerns about service despite multiple requests about updates on our food. I am from Vestal and live in Manhattan and frequent many restaurants. Food was 6/10 -- maybe 7/10 for Binghamton area. However I would never recommend this restaurant due to service deficiencies. read more

UPDATE I had originally given this place 5 stars. Recently I had family come visit and I told them to go eat here. My uncle ordered muscles and when they arrived they smelled fishy (they shouldn't) so he didn't want them and simply slid them away. Never asked to have them taken off the bill. Just didn't want them. The chef/owner proceeded to come out to their table 3 times, get within 3 inches of my uncles face, telling his he's a cheapskate, that he knows nothing about food, and that he's not taking it off the bill. All my uncle said to him was that he never asked to have it off the bill. The owner then went to every table in the restaurant to apologize for my uncles behavior. I will never, ever return to this restaurant again. The owner is totally unprofessional and that behavior (my aunt, uncle and mother in law who is 81) is shameful. Nobody should go here. I'd give them negative stars if I could. It's the most embarrassing thing I've ever had to write in my life because I sent them there. Food was good service was terrible. One of the worst servers I have had. Brought our food, drinks and then didn't come back until he came to ask if we wanted dessert. Our drinks were empty for at least 20 minutes longer then that because I didn't look at the time until later and it was 20 minutes since I noted the time. He didn't come back to check on us. The absolute best restaurant! I have never had a bad meal at Frank's. I love the tortellini Alfredo, or the rigatoni a la vodka. My husband absolutely loves the swordfish that is on the summer special menu. Don't head out without a creme brûlée! The owner is incredibly kind and always checks in to see how the meal is going. The best place upstate for a relaxing authentic Italian dinner. A beautiful space outside or inside with a newly remodeled lounge. Prices are incredibly reasonable if you consider the quality. We drive over 45 minutes just for Frank's! No place in Binghamton, Syracuse, Ithaca, or Cortland can compare! read more

Just had dinner with friends. Had not been there in a while and while the food was very good, the service was awful. Likely won't go back, to many other Italian restaurants. Pros: Side Table Pasta in the cheese wheel. Very cool, and friends said the pasta was delicious. Cons: Service - where to begin: Cheese wheel at the table came 12-15 minutes before the rest of dinners came to table. Basically, they were done eating before we got our dinners. Order second round of drinks just after wheel came and didn't get them until done eating. Server never came back to table to check on us. To top it off the bill was off, over charged for one meal and for a side. Best guess is the server was either new or needs to have more training. We did mention the check to her when she returned to take it, and basically apologized and walked away. read more

I had a friend recommend this place several times so one night when we were lost trying to decide what to have for dinner we decided to give it a shot. I liked the atmosphere and loved the food. This was the first time I ever got the flavor of my moms tomato sauce from an Italian restaurant. I would have rated much higher but we went later on a Wednesday night and were hoping to get in and out. The restaurant was very busy and it took an excruciatingly long time. If your goal is to have some of the worst service in the "fine dining" category for this area, Franks is for you. While you are waiting a half hour for a basket of bread and a drink to be delivered, let Frank regale you on his pedigree and accomplishments. His tall tales are comical, especially coming from a guy who couldn't hold a candle to a true Chef and is too short to light said candle. During this painfully long diatribe, you would have already had warm bread and your cocktails at Cacciatore's. Getting the waiter to bring anything was like pulling teeth. Come to find out he is new and we were told he would certainly be re-trained. How about firing the person who trained him in the first place and thought he was ready to serve tables? My wife ordered Branzino (European Sea Bass) Maybe to Frank it was a decent-sized piece of fish, but it is more than likely the bait fish used to catch the fish Cacciatore's serves. Franks minnows are twice the price and half the size of any Branzino she's had in NYC. My meal, what I could eat of it, was fair. I could not finish my meal as the remnants of the shrimp, mussels, and oysters from a different table were unceremoniously dumped into my lap and on my plate by a waiter who was more concerned with how cool he looked than the safety of those around him. After a perfunctory cleanup by the offending waiter, I sat waiting for five minutes certain someone would be by to finish the clean up and offer me perhaps a fresh glass of water not filled with marinara sauce. Nope. It was as if nothing ever happened and was ignored. I had to go find Frank and tell him of the incident and upon my return to the table, I listened as the offending waiter was explaining to my wife that he had already told Frank all about it. It was then that I spoke up and said that he was not being truthful and that Frank knew nothing about it until I had just finished telling him. Hmm. I wonder which one was lying? Neither my wife nor I made any fuss or commotion about the botched meal. We did not want to be "those people" and simply were curious as to how this would play out. In any other restaurant, when something like that happens, it is customary to be gracious and offer perhaps a complimentary aperitif or dessert or even an apology. Not at Franks, apparently Frank's "training" was cut short or he was too busy playing miniature golf to attend "etiquette" class. Wow. The ending of the evening was exactly as predicted. A failure. The only one to blame for this is the captain of the dinghy. The blowhard with Napoleon syndrome who spends more time out of the kitchen schmoozing rather than cooking and helping his line cooks empty the TV dinner trays onto people's plates and say Bon Appetite. read more

First off the waitress was decent,did forget a couple drinks, but no biggie, our fried calamari ,the rings were very good the tentacles were way I mean way overcooked to the point we couldn't eat them , ordered a Cesar salad ,olives had pits still in them, that was a surprise,the waitress said we weren't the only ones who said something, I ordered a shrimp and lobster dish ,first off flavor and taste was outstanding,shrimp and lobster was very over cooked. We have been customers of Franks for at least 8 years. The service has declined severely in the last year or so. Recently we made reservations for 6 people for 530pm which is a time before the restaurant typically gets slammed. We arrived at two separate times and the first party was rudely told to wait at the bar and shooed away by the hostess. When the second party arrived with two small children, we were also told to wait at the bar and I politely declined as I didn't want children in the bar area. At a previous visit they were in the way and almost got stepped on because they are of walking age and obviously small enough not to be noticed. The hostess told us there was a game room and all the kids go there. Now, if you have children you would know how difficult it is to pull your kids away from games to eat dinner. I was not putting myself or the kids in that position to have a meltdown at a restaurant. The hostess did not like my choice to decline and sit on the bench by the desserts. We were then seated at a table in the bar area. Needless to say I was not happy. We were the only occupied table in the bar. The entire night there was a line behind us to use the bathroom because the other ones were broken. In all our years we have never been shunned to the bar while there were PLENTY of available tables in the dining areas. Even when we left there were several empty tables for a Saturday night at 715pm. Frank did come around and we expressed our displeasure and all he had were excuses and was quite rude to us, not once apologizing. He proceeded to tell us we were "lucky" to be eating there at all. I have never left a yelp review in my life, but Frank's has forced me to.. this place is nothing but a money grab that will waste hours of your life. We came here for the cheese wheel pasta, but apparently this is only served on the week days. I made a 6:30 reservation, but was forced to sit in the lounge for an hour so Frank could make a few more bucks off drinks from his patrons and convince you this place is worth it, before seating us at our table. Finally at 7:30 we were seated, and only saw our waitress twice over the course of the next hour. 1.5 hours after our reservation, we were "graciously" greeted with two slices of bread for two people, then left hung out to dry waiting to place our order. Once our waitress finally arrived, the $20 bacon wrapped scallops appetizer magically increased by 40% (the same price as the entree version). Once our waitress took our entree order, she then again tried to up-charge for vodka sauce. After two hours, the food was still not ready so we finally had to ask for it to go. Made reservations for 5, confirmed we all wanted the cheese wheel. We were seated in a timely manner however it took quite a while for drinks and appetizers to arrive. When the cheese wheel arrived at our table again they confirmed that all 5 of us were getting it 2 with chicken, 3 plan. It was pretty cool watching him explain the process and prepare the pasta in front of us. He mentioned that the other half of the wheel was gone and this was it. However, when only 3 of us were given pasta that he had prepared we were a little confused. A couple minutes later 2 bowls of pasta with chicken came from the back kitchen. It looked nothing like the pasta from the cheese wheel and tasted very bland. We asked why they didn't get the same pasta we did , after all that's what we ordered and was paying for. We were told that they prepared those two out back with the other had of the cheese wheel. When confronting our waitress she immediately got Frank the owner. He was very defensive stating they used the other that outback which we know was a lie . We told him it didn't even taste the same and his answer was well each chef makes it different. This was not what we ordered, we order the cheese wheel to be prepared in front of us. Frank's answer well he can't make that many at your table it would take him too long . Lesson learned that night , we will not be returning to Franks again despite the awesome pasta from the cheese wheel, I refuse to get over charged and lied to about bland crappy pasta that didn't even have what I would consider an Alfredo sauce on it. It was tasteless and honestly I have no desire to spend that much anywhere where the customers voices aren't heard. read more

Went there to celebrate my sons birthday. Drinks took more than a half hour to arrive and the meal more than 1 hour afterward to get to our table. Frank himself did come to the table to explain that good food takes 1 hour to prepare. Also they had a new Barman and were short in the kitchen. Our server profusely apologized but it wasn't her fault. This seems to be a problem shared in many businesses lately and we all know why. As for the food, most delicious calamari, good salad and appetizers, but the ciappino and other main dishes were just average at best, no one at our table was impressed, sorry but I cannot recommend Franks . Beware of the angry owner! If I could give this restaurant a negative star I would. I recommended to my out of town family to try Franks restaurant after I visited this restaurant last month with some long time friends. I am so embarrassed at how they were treated by the owner and feel awful they had this experience. They were on time for their reservation and were enjoying the great service from Abby. They ordered the mussels, Cesar salads, and two rigatonis. When their food arrived the mussels did not taste/smell right (fishy). So they did not eat the mussels but continued with the rest of the meal. When the waitress came to check on the table she asked about the mussels and they just explained they were a little fishy. They did not send it back or ask for it to be taken of the bill. The waitress removed them from the table and they continued with their evening. Within 5 minutes the owner came out screaming at them " You don't know food or what your talking about", "Cheapskate we are not taking the item off the bill" (which they did not ask for), and he continued to verbally abuse/attack his out of town customers and got in their personal space to do so. My family did not engage with his behavior which apparently irritated him more. To add insult to injury, when they paid the bill and we're going to leave, the waitress brought out the mussels in a "to go" box. Then the owner came out again to scream at them and then apologized to the other tables for his behavior with my family sharing that it was their fault he was verbally attacking them. I am mortified at this local business owner and his behavior with my family. I will never go back to this restaurant and hope you consider this review when you make your decision to dine here. read more

Four of us recently went to Frank's and enjoyed a wonderful dinner evening. Food was delicious. I had the braised beef short ribs and my Uncle the ribeye steak. He commented that the steak was better than another local establishment that touts their steaks. Mine was fall off the bone delicious. My wife and I I've been going to Frank's for the past three years.We always enjoy the food that we order. One of the most important things that makes a good restaurant from being good to being excellent is consistency.I've never been disappointed.Also I would like to mention his staff. I went there a few nights ago with my spouse as I'd heard great things about this place. My experience was a bit mixed but only because of the one dish I had. First, the place is a bit odd in the decor. We almost killed ourselves tripping over cords for lights getting to the door and the first door we tried was locked as it doesn't have anything indicating it wasn't an entrance. The cords need to be gotten rid of or have something done to prevent tripping. Sitting at the table you have linen table clothes but they cover them with paper and then give you paper napkins. For some reason this just struck me as extremely odd. Our server was very pleasant and cordial and did a great job. Thumbs up to him. He did an excellent job. What matters, however, is the food. For the most part it was very good with the exception of the one dish I had. I'll go through the quick list below: Fried Calamari Appetizer - Very expensive but probably some of the best I've ever had. Not the buffalo one which I've not tried but the regular "lightly dusted" version on the menu. It was amazing. I'd go back there just to get the Calamari again despite it costing as much as a regular entrée . I almost didn't get it because the server thought they were out. Thank goodness he found out he was wrong. Garlic bread - came with the dinners. Perfectly toasted and perfectly seasoned. Loved it! Lobster Ravioli with Alfredo Sauce - My wife loved it and she thought it was fantastic. I've since heard from a few others that love this dish too. She liked it for exactly the reason I did not like it. The Alfredo sauce is very thin. I like a thicker sauce. She said she'd absolutely get it again. Shrimp Scampi - Unfortunately, this was terrible. The shrimp were large with a decent number of them but there was absolutely no taste to it. It was like I was eating buttery/oily noodles with nothing else on it. I could NOT taste a hint of garlic. I've also since heard from others that said the same thing. I can't imagine why you'd forgo or go so light on garlic in a dish that is about the garlic. I can't recommend this at all. It really ruined the experience for me. Had it not been for the calamari I'm not sure where I'd stand here. My wife loved her dish and I hated mine. However, others have recommended I go back again but avoid this dish. I wish they had told me sooner. Their reputation is the only thing that would bring me back again besides the calamari which again, really is unbelievable and to me worth the price and to think I almost missed out on it. read more

The food is amazing; however, expect to be met at the door with extreme rudeness by the short, woman hostess who clearly feels inconvenienced that you are there. You will be shoved into the bar area forced to order drinks and wait 45 min at least, even if you have a reservation. We have been regular patrons of Frank's weekly and have put up with the rude hostess over and over again. But, enough is enough. there are other great Italian restaurants with equally good food who treat their customers with respect and human decency and we will be going there instead. Food was good, but there are some fundamental issues here. Service is slow and underwhelming. The chef is inflexible and offputting. The chef REFUSED to make one of our party shrimp parmigiana. They had chicken, veal, and eggplant parm as well as shrimp scampi, and even shrimp with rigitoni. Why he refused to just melt some cheese over the shrimp and rigitoni is baffling. He needs to understand where he is. He isn't on the Las Vegas strip at a 5 star restaurant. They are in Maine, NY, a little town of 500 people! As stated earlier, the service was also dreadfully slow, even for simple things like more water or extra napkins. While the food is tasty, and this wasn't our first visit, I'm not sure I'd return. Fabulous night on the patio with good friends all the better because room between the tables allowed us to feel like we were in our own back yard. Good sized potions - I highly recommend the braised beef ravioli with bolognese sauce - tasty! The salmon and chicken cutlets were large portions and with taking home. But must admit the a la vodka sauce was a bit sweet and other choices will be made next time. Frank stopped by the table (nice touch) and we were able to enjoy our own wines thanks to BYO option.
