Grew up coming here! It's always amazing!!! Love live live there spaghetti, and sausage pizza. I've always been know when I walk in as Smiddy's kid. As it was only a few spots down from what was my dads house. Always friendly staff. After my dads funeral we went in since it was his favorite spot to see if we could use the back spot for his small luncheon of about 30 people, when they realized who it was for they offered to to cater it or whatever we wanted. We opted for menu ordered. But they took just great care of us that day and went above and beyond, mad us truly feel like family and I will always be grateful. read more

Franks is a classic "hole in the wall" or "road side" food place. One might expect Jane and Michael Stern to be sitting at the bar. There is nothing fancy here and it has been the same since the beginning of time (though the Hamm's animated clock is now gone. People don't come here for the atmosphere per se but come for the food.The pizza actually has a rather unique crust - it is a thin variety but not the cracker dried out thin pizza crust but a nice moist delicous crust; what makes the crust truly unique is that they add malt to the crust. There are a couple places up in Chicago now that have adopted this style. For pizza's I'm partial to the sausage, which is a classic old Italian crumble style; I also think this is their most unique flavor. If you happen to have left overs, take them home for breakfast - to be eaten cold! If you aren't a pizza fan, they also have a pretty delicous Italian Beef sandwich. This comes on an Italian style hoagie with marinated thinly sliced beef and green pepper. The spagaheti with meat sauce has a nice rich flavor plus a bit of a kick. Most meat sauces can't stand alone but this one does. And it it might be odd, but the fried chicken matches anything you can around town. I know, you might not expect good fried chicken, and I can't say I'd come here for that, but I know people who do. If you want even more food, the onion rings are pretty good appetizer. Again, this is old style family Italian dining - go and enjoy. read more

While on a business trip, some coworkers and I took the recommendation of another traveler and took off to find this place. I liked Frank's. It's old and a bit haggard. Tables and chairs and walls and wood paneling have all seen better days. I'm guessing they follow a strict "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," philosophy. As far as I can tell, it ain't broke. They cut the pizza in strips here, which seems to be a rural Illinois thing. Maybe a rural Midwest thing, I'm not sure. We ordered some appetizers, a "deluxe" pizza, and a pepperoni pizza. The deluxe had a ridiculous amount of toppings on it, and was only OK. The pepperoni, though, was delicious. The crust is ultra-thin, and has a sweetness to it I haven't tasted before; definitely something unique going on there. I'd recommend Frank's if you find yourself in Silvis. There's really nothing much else to speak of in town, and this place is unique and memorable. Also, CASH ONLY. read more

The pizza is delicious I have no problem with that. The problem is they do not answer their phone, they opened at 11 and I attempted multiple times. There we're times that seemed like someone was hanging up on me! So I hung up and called Clint's they answered on the first ring and was able to take our large pizza order. read more

Always VERY busy and full and always a trippy experience It is, despite various disputes, the original QC pizza joint. Only problem, the decor hasn't changed but the pizza has. It isn't bad pizza, but it doesn't blow you away. Plus, cash only? Poor beer selection. It may be the original but the QC has lots more to offer. read more

If you are from the QCA and haven't been to Franks then you are crazy. This is a family favorite for me and my husbands families who grew up in the QCA. My husband loves the spaghetti, my favorite is the fried chicken and of course the pizza is like nothing you find outside of the qca. Silvia franks is kept just like I remember and is cash only. Great pizza! It's a really good pizza ! The sausage is not in chunks but more like crumbled sausage! I wasn't disappointed! Nice crispy crust with a great crunch! As you get to the center of the pizza I used a fork to eat! It's not crispy! Great choice when in the quad cities! read more

I am disgusted!! I recently moved to town and called for delivery, as Yelp said they deliver- which is not the case. I also found out that there's only one website where you can access their 'correct ' menu. all the others are incorrect. i went to get my pizza and it was sitting on a shelf- nowhere near a warmer. i got home and realized that after asking for my pizza well done, it was soggy and undercooked. We ate anyway because it was dinner time and we were hungry. I proceeded to find a hair in my 3rd piece of pizza!!!! i am disgusted and will NEVER bother with this disgusting establishment ever again!!!! read more

Best of the Quad Cities, been eating there my entire life and have never not enjoyed a meal there.

I love this place. It's old style. Pizza is better than the classic "Quad Cities" style thin crust. I also like the fact they cut their pizzas like a pie. It allows you to pick up the pieces and handle them better than the typical long slender rectangular pieces you find at other joints. Those tend to bend and fall apart easier. Meat sauce on the spaghetti is one of my favorites. I'm always debating on whether to go with the spaghetti or the pizza. This visit I went with both. Pizza is awesome left over. If you eat in don't expect modern decor. The tables and chairs are what you would have seen back in the '60s and '70s, but I love it. It sets them apart from everyone else. They have small, medium and large tables so families of 6 or more are no problem. The menu is basic, but has a little of everything. It fits on one laminated sheet. I live in Silvis so I get to visit often. Give them a try! Remember to take cash as they don't take cards or checks. read more

My father is the grand-nephew of 'Frank" and has been craving a deluxe pizza for years....he isn't that mobile any more, so I called Frank's to ask if we could have them ship a couple of pizzas to us....but they cannot. :( However, if someone local could pick a pizza up, they can ship it, just not directly from the restaurant. Frank's is our go to spot for all family occasions! Best Pizza and Chicken in the Quad Cities!! Decor is a little outdated. However, It has a certain Nostalgia. Every time I walk in I am reminded of the many family get togethers and Great memories shared at Frank's over the years. It is a cash only establishment. Knowing this makes it easy. If I want a great QC style pizza I will order from Franks. They are a bit pricey but what you get is worth it. You cant find another pizza that tastes like Franks. They also have great fried chicken that you cant find anywhere else. The atmosphere is like an old style Italian family restaurant. A couple big pies on a long table and lots of social interaction. They also have some sports channels playing for fans and beer on tap. Franks is still a favorite of mine. read more

This is the worst excuse for a pizza place the Stromboli was nothing but a regular sandwich bread with sausage in the middle of it the salad was nothing but a cup of lettuce with horribly outdated salad dressing. The cheese garlic bread was nothing but a horrible fluffy dry cheese bread cheese that you had to have a cup of water just to be able to eat it and it didn't even come with any dipping sauce. Very unique pizza...QC style. Sliced in strips and covered in crumbled sausage and lots of cheese. Very heavy and very filling. But the Italian beef won me over on this trip. When the waitress said there's a ton of beef she was NOT kidding. At least a pound and a half of slow roasted Italian spiced beef roast on a sturdy roll with melted provolone, peppers and Au jus. Who needs Portillo's when Frank's has the best Italian Beef around! Try the Italian Beef / Stromboli Combo sandwich all the way with mozzarella cheese, pizza sauce, peppers, au jus on toasted garlic bread - Unbelievably good and big enough for two people!!!! Frank's Italian Beef beats Portillo's hands down in taste and serving size & still under $10. In the past week, I've ate Italian Beef at both places, as Portillo's prepares to enter the QC area. Frank's Italian Beef is really a hidden gem on their menu, usually overshadowed by pizza, chicken, and spaghetti favored by family-sized orders. I think it will grow in popularity as the local attention to Italian Beef cranks up. Try the pizza while you're there, I hear it's tasty :-). What Jon L. said in his wonderfully snarky review, but with one exception. I actually find the "unique to the QCA" pizza itself to be the star of the show. Seriously, I grew up in the area and recently moved back from the east coast and walking into Frank's is like stepping back in time as a kid in the 1960's. The only things missing are the cigarette smoke wafting from the bar and the flattop haircuts sported by the locals. I like change as well as the next guy, but there is a certain comfort in retaining a few constant's in life. I live in the area, and I know a lot of people are die hard Frank's fans, but let me tell you, stay away. Yes, they have unique crust, but the positives stop there. Also, they are one of the most expensive pizza joints in the area. A much better choice in Silvis would Sluggers. Similar pizza style, but much better tasting. read more
