The towing guy hitched my car as I was standing 50 feet from it, saying goodbye to my grandparents, whom I was dropping off at their housing for the elderly. I found myself with a flat tire a few months ago. I called and they showed up promptly. My flat was replaced with my spare in minutes. I was especially grateful because I had my newborn with me and safety was of top concern. Today I was towed by Frank's. I was legally parked in my parking spot at the apartment building. When I came outside and noticed my car was gone, I called Frank's and was very pleasant to the person answering (I've worked in customer service and there's nothing worse than being just the messenger delivering bad news!) I was told it would be $143 in cash. I got the money and promptly went over to the tow yard. Upon arriving, no one was there to answer the door so I had to call back. Then a young guy walked around the corner and jimmy'd the lock to get us into the auto body shop's office. I figured I'd make small talk, as I saw a dog crate. "Oh, you have a dog?!" He goes, "Yes. And when she's here she's not that nice." I got chills because he was so rude and wouldn't even look at me! I gave him the $160 (all 20s). He goes "I don't have change. Needs to be EXACT." I said, "well the guy on the phone never said that." So my friend and I start counting the change we have in our wallets because I'm NOT about to give this guy anymore than they deserve. After watching us count for 3 mins, he says "oh I found the change in the back of the drawer." How convenient!!?! We finally get our receipt and he says he'll move the chain to let us get my car out. We go outside and a tow truck comes RACING into the tow yard and almost knocks over my friend who had to jump out of the way. Some junkie girl is in the passenger seat. I try to smile at her but she has this AWFUL look on her face. I get my car and pull back out to the lot where the tow truck is. I get out of my car to move my bags from my friend's car into mine and that girl starts yelling "Are those the dumb b*tches from that apartment complex?! Idiots! You know you can't park there!" We did NOT deserve that harassment, especially after I had been so pleasant the whole time! My advice, bring a large man with you if you get towed or at least don't go alone! read more

This is easily the worst of the worst when it comes towing. Someone parked in my paid parking spot. Cool. Called the tow sign to report it and was greeted by a chain-smoking operator who said they didn't service this lot. After I mentioned the number and company name on the sign, she said that they did service the lot, but were in the process of a merger so they didn't have the necessary information to find the address. This, of course, makes absolutely no sense, but I digress. At this point, she began to sass me and hung up. My daughter and I were verbally assaulted by a driver yesterday while we were picking up Turkey dinners at the Brookline Food Pantry location on Egmont Street to deliver to local residents in need. I live parked where I was to told to park since the bags were very heavy. I was not blocking anyone, and there were no cars waiting for a spot. I was impressed that they responded quickly, and were cheaper than three other towing companies I called (who charged $100 to $125, and had at least an hour wait time). I've never been on the receiving end of PURE RAGE for absolutely no reason until tonight. This guy is insane. He was in the middle of towing my car from the Dunkin' Donuts so I asked him if there's any way to handle the matter right then and there. After a minute of pretending not to hear me and continuing to try and chain up my car in hyper speed mode, he said he'd give me a few minutes to go get cash ($130). I came back within 3 minutes and he was gone. When I got to the tow place, he started walking towards me SCREAMING as he violently threw all his tools towards the ground because I was not supposed to be standing where I was standing (the parking lot of towed cars). Then, as he got back into his tow truck, he drove towards me at full speed, clearly trying to either scare me into thinking he was going to run me over OR actually trying to hit me. If I hadn't jumped out of the way, I'm sure he would've killed me. This guy just exudes PURE RAGE. He's an absolute danger to society and should be locked up in solitary confinement. Update: Reflecting on the incident a couple of days later, I now realize that this guy must have been going through an intense withdrawal or was in the middle of a high that provoked a violent rage. Pray pray pray you that you will never be towed by these scumbags. They camp out at gas stations and other properties such as the Dunkin Donuts on Harvard St. and as soon as you leave your car to go somewhere else even for a few minutes, they will tow you like they towed me. Their explanation is either I can't fucking drive so I back into someone else's car or it was a hit-and-run by others. My car was in a spacious garage. I was gone for 3 hours. There was no way someone would hit my car and left a huge scratch like that. Now every time I walk into the garage and I see the front wheels' tire trace on the floor, I can still hear my car screaming while they towed it away, seriously sometimes in my dream too. I come out, car is gone, there's no signs at Sullivan Tire saying who to call or go to if you've been towed but I have been towed by these dirtbags at Frank's before so I figured it was them. I get there and it's cash only so I have to walk all the way to an ATM down the street and back. I got back, got in my car, started it up and threw my money at the lot attendant. He tried to argue with me that I only gave him $122 (i added a dollar in quarters, just to be a jerk) but I told him to go back and check again. They hooked our car and even when showing receipts the guy would not release it. Didn't care to hear the worker in the gas station either. Said either we give him $50 to drop it or it goes to the lot for the night and we would have to pay $250 the next day. Be careful who you guys hire. Zero stars.. I walked into staples to buy some sharpies and parked my car on the opposite side where there are NO signs that say the parking belongs to Dunkin Donuts. There are signs that say there is towing on the DD side of the parking lot. When I'm at the cash register paying I see my car about to get towed. Mind you, I haven't been in there longer than four minutes because the sharpie display is next to the registers. I tap on the window and he ignores me until he has lifted my car. There is absolutely no signs on the opposite side of DD that says I cant park there. I told him I thought that this was staples parking and it was an honest mistake. He made me pay $50 for PATROL TOWING. After he put down my car he parked in the back of the "DD parking lot" to tow the next victim. This means that he SAW me park my car there, and didn't have the common courtesy to warn me that I couldn't park there. I wasn't expecting customer service, just a real human being. On friday april 19th 2013, boston, brookline, cambridge, watertown, newton, and many more towns are currently in lockdown because of the events that have occurred this week and the ongoing case of the boston marathon bombing. While every business is closed, and everyone is informed to stay in side, with locked doors and to only answer the door for police men and women with proper identification, Franks ABC towing is still out and actively towing cars. Everyone in dexter park that saw this occurring was enraged, and many of us made phone calls to this company to express our concerns, explaining that we were unable to leave the building and that is why the man's car was still there. Instead of listening to our concerns, the man who answered the phone was extremely rude and ignored what we were saying. They have no concern for the safety of their employees and the way that they interacted with the owner of the car was horribly upsetting (driving the tow truck away while the car owner was holding on to the tow truck). read more

I used them to get my car after it had been towed by Brighton Towing because AAA had left it in a Fire Lane ( Bill and Mikes in Dedham, MA ; Also THE WORST ) Still following ? I had to send an invoice for the tow that AAA screwed up in which i paid out of pocket for to get reimbursed. He refused to send me the invoice and now Im in a stand off with AAA because i cant get the invoice ! it cost me a total of 244.00 out of pocket because AAA left it in a fire lane not my mechanics parking lot !!!! Im going to have to file a civil claim and miss a day of work after being out 244 dollars all because he wont send me the invoice for the TOW ! Unbelievable ! On Saturday, April 16, 2011, I was looking to pull over to allow my passenger, a handicapped elderly woman, to go into a restaurant on Harvard Avenue. Because of traffic there was no place to stop, let alone park. I pulled into Glenville Terrace by the second building on the right. At 7:38 pm, I helped her from the car and began to walk her around the corner to the restaurant. After a few yards, I stopped and went back to the car to turn on my emergency blinkers to indicate my imminent return. I took her into the restaurant, got her seated and returned to move the car - it was 7:41 pm. I was gone 3.5 minutes. When I returned, my car was gone - not going, not being written up, not being hooked to the tow truck - GONE. That speed of this indicates that the tow driver was watching the entire time - he saw me get out helping this woman and swooped in like a predator to take my car. That's pretty appalling behavior. . I was told that my car was at 55 Brighton Avenue and that I would need $131 in cash to get my car back. After making sure my friend was safe in the restaurant, I proceeded to go to the bank and then the location to get my car. I arrived at 55 Brighton Avenue to find an AutoZone stored (closed), but no Frank's/ABC Towing. I went into the lot, but no tow company could be found and my car was not there. I called again, and was told that they were in the back behind the AutoZone. I went into the darkened back area and although I found my car (lights still blinking) in the back, there was no office, no sign, no door, no person. I walked all the way around the building and no one was there. I called again and after getting no answer three times, was told that the driver would be back and to wait. While making my way back in the dark, I fell over the chain across the drive and wound up sprawled across the wet, dirty lot. My knee was badly hurt. Unable to get up, I lad to lie there for a few minutes until I was able to get myself off the ground. (Okay, so maybe that wasn't their fault, but I want you to understand the chain of events here.) Finally, the driver showed up and demanded $131 cash in the parking lot. I asked him for the owner's name, he would not give it to me, giving me a business card instead. I gave him $140 cash and asked for a receipt; he said they didn't give receipts. He did not have change - he actually seemed to think I was going to let him keep the change! We had to go down the street to the Hess station for him to make change and give me my $9. In addition, I found that he had towed my vehicle incorrectly, using a hook and chain/sling tow truck instead of the flatbed truck that one is supposed to use for four-wheel-drive vehicles. The entire incident was sketchy- exchanging money in a dark parking lot -it felt like a drug deal. Tough parking and towing is a fact of life in Boston, and I take that very seriously. While he *might* have had had the legal right to tow me (I say might, because it is unclear that I had trespassed or that he made the proper call prior to towing, or if his charge is above the maximum), a simple yell of "I'll tow you if you park there." would have been in order. But Frank's/ABC Towing is a predator who goes beyond the need to protect public access and private property. read more
