If you are entering Oracle Park from the marina side, this is the last stop before entering the game. They have a sign that says hot dog and a beer for $10. I went in, it's actually $12. Menu says $7 for a hot dog, so the ultra or Tecate that comes with it is $5. The hot dog was delicious, split Frank that came off the grill, on a real sandwich roll. Condiments outside, with plenty of outdoor seating. A beer in ballpark is $19. This place is a no brainer. Shot of patron was $22, so not a great deal there. This place is great! The fish tacos are indeed as delicious as everyone says, and my partner got the cheeseburger and it was super good - tons of melted cheese, onions, crunchy pickles, etc on crisp and juicy smashburger patties. The drinks are also great and it's a place that makes you just want to hang out ordering cocktails, eating fries, and basking in the sun. Inside at the bar there's a nice TV to watch sports and a gorgeous view of the sailboats passing by on the bay, and the patio looks out on Embarcadero and gets so warm on a sunny day. The bartender when we visited was also really friendly and our food and drinks came out really fast. The vibes were just awesome when we visited on a sunny Saturday, there were out of towners hanging out at the bar, other locals chilling near us on the patio, and a group of 20 somethings starting an afternoon of getting plastered. Perfect. My partner and I have lived in the city for years but just ate here for the first time recently and we're sure to be regulars now. Great (like REALLY great) burger -- maybe even one of the best in SF!! If you're a fan of In-n-Out burger, then you'll love the smash burger. It's got a thousand island sauce reminiscent of the fast food chain, but elevated with caramelized onions, fresh pickles, double smashed patties, and a soft brioche bun. I'm a BIG fan of bread and butter pickles and was pleasantly surprised by their addition in the burger -- but if you don't like the flavor of them, make sure to order yours without. The fries were good, though nothing particularly special. The tables all had mustard, ketchup, and hot sauce, so if you're a fellow saucy guy like myself you can add to your heart's content! The service was really great. We ordered two burgers but only one came out -- after about 10 minutes of waiting, we told the bartender and he realized he never put the other one in (and hadn't charged us for it on our order). He was very apologetic and quickly brought us the second one, on the house! It was an honest mistake, and he made sure to make it right. They clearly value their customers here, and we appreciate that!! The vibe here is no-frills but is really clean with a bit of a 50's diner feel. We've been trying all of the dive bars along the Embarcadero and we had high hopes for Frankies. Great location, but no greeting or welcome when we walked in and we were 1 of 3 tables there at the time. The Bartender/server and sole person working there didn't smile once and the hamburgers were soggy. Worst part was the hidden 18% automatic gratuity. Yes, we should have checked the receipt but we ended up tipping $18 for a meal that cost $25. You have to order at the counter so there is no service to speak of. I asked a girlfriend to meet me here yesterday before heading to the Giants/Yankees game to grab some food. I'd been here a few times before and really enjoyed their smash burger (which I still highly recommend). I got out of my Waymo ride feeling happy, excited for the game, and excited to enjoy a good burger with a friend. I walked in and stood by the bar, happy to see that there were 2 bartenders and a bar-back working this time (last time I came, there was just one bartender right before a Giants game). I waited patiently behind those sitting at the bar for the female bartender closest to where I was standing, to greet me or to notice I was there. She did not. Eventually the men sitting down got up and let me have their seat. The bar was pretty mellow then and no one was waiting to take their seats, so I sat down and still wasn't noticed. Then a nice couple walked in and stood behind the empty seats, the bartender came right over and asked what she could get for them, I kindly chimed in and asked if I could put my order in first. In a harsh tone, the bartender said something along the lines of "can you give me a minute?!" and started cleaning up the glasses left there by the men before. I apologized and explained that I had been waiting for a while without even being acknowledged and just wanted to put my order in before the couple that had just got there. It was uncomfortable and a completely unnecessary reaction. My friend was almost to Frankies and in hopes of avoiding an unnecessary fee, I decided to stay at the bar, order from the bartender on the other end and move outside away from the hostile female bartender. My friend got there, ordered her food, we enjoyed our burger and fries outside, then went inside to close out my tab. Since it was my birthday, my friend offered to pay for the tab. After finally getting the female bartenders' attention, we got the tab and my friend handed her a different credit card and said "I'd like to close out this tab with this credit card" gave it to her and when she gave back the receipt, the bill was still charged to my card. When I asked why she didn't charge my friend's card she responded with "oh you must not know our policy. You have to close out on the saved card"... WHY would she take my friend's card if that was the policy? Doesn't really make sense. This was the worst customer service I've experienced in a very long time and it really sucks because the man behind the bar was very personable. On top of it all, this bar charges auto-gratuity of 18% which they NEVER mention to you and if you don't look at a menu, would never know otherwise. I've worked at places that auto-grat and have ALWAYS let the guest know tip is included. Such a horrible start to what was supposed to be a great Friday night. Hopefully she was just having a terrible day and is actually a great bartender... something tells me probably not. read more

Really happy to have a little cafe on the water in our hood! Yes, the prices are expensive but what do you expect post COVID in a prime real estate area? There were lots of good choices on the menu! I decided to go with the crab sandwich and a Bloody Mary! I moseyed over to Frankie's Java House in the South Beach of SF to hang out by the water and get an early din-din. Mentally I wanted a burger and fries but realistically I knew I should eat some vegetables at some point in the day. I ordered the Scotsdale Salad that comes with chicken, mixed greens, avo, black beans, tortilla strips and chipotle creme dressing. I finally catch Mike on Monday and he tells that it may be too late to make the adjustment but would need to follow up or I could speak with credit cards company myself. He was too busy this past weekend to call me. I'm disappointed because they have no signage disclosing the automatic 18% gratuity. I was with a group entertaining clients and based in the lack of communication and follow through this is why they get one star and I will tell everyone how they failed me. I frequented this spot many times pre-pandemic but only recently noticed the fresh coat of paint and the addition of "Frankie's" above it's name. Several weeks ago I was asked by a couple of friends that I regularly volunteer with at the Saturday pop-up food pantry set up at the Oracle Park parking lot whether I'd join them for lunch. We were a bit indecisive as to where we wanted to eat considering several of the nearby breweries and such when we walked past Frankie's. One person in our party had eaten here before and highly recommended the cheeseburger. Since we all just completed shifts of between 3 to 4-1/2 hours bagging groceries for SF Marin Food Bank recipients we were tired and hungry so we decided Frankie's it was. At the time of our visit pandemic protocols had yet to be relaxed so they were still implementing social distancing and all. There's a big QR code posting on a stand at the entrance for visitors to scan and pull up their menu on their phones. I kind of knew right away since my friend recommended it I was going to go with the cheeseburger. My only decision was going to be what beer I wanted to have my burger. I saw Guinness on the menu and even though they serve it from a can and not on draft that's what I went with. One-by-one folks step up to a staffed podium and place and pay for your order. You are given a number to be placed on your table and off you go outside to seat yourself. A server followed me out to hand me my can of beer and a glass. She offered to pour the beer for me which I declined. Maybe because I was famished but I loved (and devoured) that burger. One other menu item caught my attention on that initial visit and I returned a couple of weeks later to try their Burger Dog.
