THE SETUP Goldfields is a charming, rustic country-western stylized saloon that serves up beer at good prices. But we weren't interested in beer and wanted quality cocktails. Hence, our pivot next door to the Tack Room! QUALITY COCKTAILS & DRINKS! The Tack Room specializes an amazing array of martinis, bourbons, and other deLISH cocktail drinks at really really reasonable prices! So this was an excellent choice to chill, thus avoiding the tremendous *noise pollution* we were immediately subjected to upon entering Goldfields an hour later for our show. The guacamole was fresh and tasty, but the portion was quite small and barely enough for two people in my opinion. The salsa was also small but it was absolutely phenomenal. The chicken tacos were excellent, with tender chicken that was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The enmoladas were also fantastic and are a great way to sample Oaxaca's three unique mole sauces, each with its own distinct character. One thing to note is that the chicken filling is intentionally prepared very simply in traditional Oaxacan cuisine so that the mole remains the star of the dish. If you prefer heavily seasoned meat, this dish may be milder than what you are used to. Overall, everything we tried was delicious and offered a wonderful taste of authentic Oaxacan flavors.
