Pistachio drink
Marisela M.

Really dark place. That was what I loved . I will be honest the bartender was not friendly and of coarse only one or 2 people were there. We were recommended to try their new pistacho drink. Not good enough to stop in. There were 5 of us and we felt unwelcomed so we left. We will not be back

I can't believe I haven't done a review on Frank as many times as I've been here, so this will be my final review for 2025 *sad face* This is cash only! They do have a ATM inside just in case. The service has always been good. It does get busy so be patient. All the drinks I've ever ordered have been creative and delicious. The prices are decent as well. The inside is an old fashion bar feel. With black and white TV's by the bar. If you have been to Frank put it on your to do list. They won't disappoint. Have a Happy New Year!! See you in 2026 :)

Frank is a tucked away, intimate, and dark bar in the ice blocks that is really easy to miss if you're not paying attention. There's a sign letting you know where it's at, but keep an eye out for the beautiful blue door. Inside it is very dark and the ambiance is one that is meant to be relaxed (not a club vibe in any way) but is not a dive bar at all. There's tables and bar seating, not a ton so beware if you plan to come in a group. The bar is cash only but they have a no fee atm inside. The bartenders were nice and attentive. The drink menu isn't super vast, but the drinks are so good! My friend and I got the pistachio martini and the blood orange Mai tai. Both were incredible, definitely recommend the Mai tai! Inside there's a fish tank that's SpongeBob themed which I thought was cute, a tiny vintage tv playing silently, one gender neutral bathroom that was really nice inside. I think this is a great spot to check out if you want a break from your regular spots or are in the area and want a drink after dinner! Perfect for date night or a night out with a couple friends.

Frank is such a cute little spot! It specializes in gin and rum based drinks, so I got a mai tai. It was very balanced and did not taste overly sweet! I went on a Saturday night, so it was a bit crowded, but the bartenders were friendly and helped us quickly. Be warned that it is cash-only, so you should come prepared. They also have an ATM inside, though I am not sure if it has any fees since I did not use it. A highlight for me was the fish tank, which is Spongebob-themed. It really makes it a comfortable and chic place to grab a drink!

A true little hidden gem. This little tucked away cocktail bar has been on my list of places to try for a while now. Whiskey is the star of the show for majority of the cocktails and they also offer whiskey flights. Small and intimate. This place would be great for an intimate hangout with some old friends or a first date. Despite coming here on a weekday it was pretty packed but people came and went pretty frequently to always have seats available. Cute simple art deco vibe with a bit of vintage touches added in. I loved the tiny tv playing black and white movies. And featured behind the bar is a large SpongeBob themed fish tank that gives the place a little sense of humor. And of course can't forget the cocktails. All well made and superb. I've been needing some good cocktails in my life and I have found my new spot. Girl behind the bar was only worker and she was pumping those drinks out fast and still giving perfected quality drinks. Loveeee that so many options with cream. I'm a milky cocktail kind of girl and the almond joy drink along with the happy camper just hit the damn spot. I also noticed they had an "applecar" which was a sidecar featuring an apple brandy. Cannot wait to try it. Somewhat hope this place doesn't catch on too much that it becomes an impossible overcrowded mess like some cocktail bars. *cough the snug cough*. But this place needs some recognition for how good they are. Also side note YES they are cash only. AND the atm is ACTUALLY FREE.

What a hidden gem! Between certain stores this bar is smacked in the middle with a blue door. This is your classic whiskey and cocktail lounge. Cash only! They do have an atm inside. Our bartender made us many fabulous old fashioned's and queen bees. I enjoyed seeing the vintage black and white tv above the bar. Very intimate.. will be back!

Went on early Saturday night ~ Love this place. Cocktails were perfection. Bartender was friendly and made great suggestions. Drinks came out quick even though it was fairly busy and only one bartender. Such a cool relaxed ambience. Recommend!

This was my first time in this Sacramento location. I must admit you do have to look for it as it's located underneath the stairs behind a major retailer. However it was well worth the search. This small intimate boozy restaurant had a great ambiance. On this particular day I tried the caramel apple Sidecar. It was such a treat the bartender did her thing in making this sweet but strong drink. I definitely enjoyed this bar it should be noted it is cash only. And if you forget they do have an ATM nearby. Overall I definitely want to come back for another cocktail.

* This is a CASH ONLY spot but an ATM is available in house. * Look for the blue door and sign and come inside to a beautiful surprise. This place reminded me of New Orleans - its an upscale dive bar that offers a cozy place to grab a drink or two. The bartender we had was nice, provided us with the drinks but nothing extra - she almost felt guarded. She answered questions when asked but didn't engage on anything more. Could be an off day. Will definitely come again and give this place another go. Ohh and take better pictures.

Came to this bar to celebrate our daughter's birthday. Cute little spot. The drinks were so good. It wasn't packed but I'm not sure what was going on but the drinks took forever to get. I believe we waited 20 minutes for the drinks. That's why I'm rating 4 stars. The waitress did apologize for the long wait though.

Nestled down one of the side walkways in the Ice Blocks. Is hidden a nice small bar establishment that I never new existed until this weekend. Apparently is one of my buddies favorite places to check out when in tow, so we grabbed a couple drinks after here after lunch. CASH ONLY is what he mentioned as we walked in, so be aware begore making your way here. There is an ATM available inside near the end of the bar by the bathrooms, but you're best off bring cash to avoid any ATM fees. Because of size, Frank's is better suited for individuals to small groups. There's a couple tables along the wall facing the bar area. And maybe half a dozen or more seats at the bar itself. Frank is dimly sit with near lighting at the bar area, and a nicely lit fish tank. Drinks: New Orleans Buck Cadillac Margarita My buddy and I each had a Cadillac Margarita first. After I said I hadn't had one before, and laster we each had the New Orleans Buck. Based on the recommendation of the bartender. Both drinks were really good. Overall: Definitely a lesser known chill spot to enjoy a drink and socialize. Drinks were good and so was the environment. Just bring cash and you're good to go!

Quick tips: - Bring cash - Bring a light jacket - Review the menu and make a decision before starting the deep conversations. Came in on a weekday around 7:30p. A little quiet, but that changed within 20 mins. It's self seating, small space, interesting decor and themed menus (drinks listed online were not on the menu). Standard-ish pricing (about $16 for an old fashion). Staff were cool, was only one bartender working when we were there. They came to the table to take our order, which was pretty nice. All in all, it was fine. Standard cocktail bar. They do crank up the A/C, to keep the air circulating, which isnt bad per se.

Did Frank close?

Yes they did. The owner who is a real piece of work (check Reddit for more info) unceremoniously closed this place while he was vacationing in Mexico. I hope the bar manager found a home for the fish that the owner left to die

This is the entrance to the speakeasy. In prior years the club was open only to members but it is now open to the public. Ambiance: I visited post New Years so they still had some holiday decorations up but really enjoyed the upper class feel. It really doesn't feel like any of the speakeasies I have been to before as it was much brighter and more open space but enjoyed it nonetheless. Food/Drinks: I strictly stayed with Espresso Martinis but they were prepared pretty well. The flatbreads also tasted amazing! They also had a list of different holiday themed drinks for those inclined for some holiday cheer. Service: The service here was super quick. The server came to our table so we did not have to head over to the bar. They came a couple of times to check on us but were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the drink options! Definitely worth a check out if you are looking for a friendly public speaker easy.

It seems like they're limiting how many people are let in at once, and honestly, I'm here for that kind of crowd control. We showed up at perfect timing and scored the cozy spot right by the fireplace. Total win. My friends and I ordered The Clausmo while my guy got the Turtledove. We also all tried the shooters, I had the Nesbitt, and he got the Perry. Every drink was delicious, no complaints from any of us. The lady helping us with our order was super sweet, patient, and friendly, and the guy who seated us deserves a shoutout too. There was a small mix-up, but he made it right and got us that perfect fireplace seating. Gold star service. Overall, I'd rate the experience a solid 9 out of 10. And can we talk about the bathroom for a sec? A black toilet paired with deep green walls? Obsessed. Trophy Club is absolutely becoming one of my favorite spots. Now I just need to check it out when it's not in theme mode... but let's be honest, I live for the theme nights.

Instead I got on a list until there was a space, close to midnight and way past my bedtime, to discover this hidden gem. Once your reservation time comes up, you are escorted to a booth or bar area and given a menu. We had welcome drinks upon arrival and could choose from a cocktail list. The drink presentations are gorgeous, and you can tell a lot of thought goes into both the flavor and how everything looks when it arrives at the table. They have a great selection of gin, rum, champagne, and whiskey, and I often lean on the staff for drink suggestions because they're really good at recommending something you might not normally order. A few times now they've pointed me toward a drink that ended up being a hidden gem. I've been here a few times and it's always a great time whether you're catching up with friends or doing a date night. The food is also surprisingly good and pairs well with the cocktails. It is definitely on the pricier side, but that's part of the experience. Also, because the space is small and intimate, reservations fill up quickly and they do require a deposit, which goes toward your final bill. Helpful tip: make a reservation ahead of time and don't be afraid to ask the staff for drink recommendations -- they're excellent at guiding you to something special. The restaurant is quite small inside with very limited seating, but the outdoor patio is beautiful. Be ready to likely sit outside, but enjoy the atmosphere. We started with the mezcal old fashioned and the cucumber jalapeño margarita. The mezcal old fashioned was a delicious smoky twist on the classic cocktail. The cucumber jalapeño margarita was refreshing, though a little sweeter than I expected and missing the spicy kick I was hoping for. The guacamole was fresh and tasty, but the portion was quite small and barely enough for two people in my opinion. The salsa was also small but it was absolutely phenomenal. The chicken tacos were excellent, with tender chicken that was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The enmoladas were also fantastic and are a great way to sample Oaxaca's three unique mole sauces, each with its own distinct character. One thing to note is that the chicken filling is intentionally prepared very simply in traditional Oaxacan cuisine so that the mole remains the star of the dish. If you prefer heavily seasoned meat, this dish may be milder than what you are used to. Overall, everything we tried was delicious and offered a wonderful taste of authentic Oaxacan flavors. Our meal for two included one cocktail each, chips and guacamole, three chicken tacos, and three enmoladas, and came to about $100 with tip.

When we walked in I knew I was in the perfect spot-this bar has those low lights that all the bars in the 70s and 80s had-giving off a both romantic and mysterious vibe to it-I was in love with the place from that moment on. The music that day was awesome-I heard they have live music at times but at the time of my visit they did not-they were instead playing 90s and 2000s R&B and Hip Hop-it was wonderful-one banger after another-so yeah I was vibing. Our waitress couldn't have been cooler-she was as friendly as can be-suggesting drinks that were both on and off the menu-her and I were sharing tequila stories based on our shared affinity for the Fortaleza tequila they had in stock -which is super rare and it's how I judge every bar-whether or not they have Fortaleza tequila on hand and The Butterscotch Den had multiple bottles on hand. We ended up going with a few drinks that day. -Strawberry Negroni-($13.00)-This one blew my socks off-my favorite drink in the works is a Negroni but this bar makes a Strawberry version of it and let me tell ya-it's dynamite-10/10 rating -Old Fashioned-($12.00)-This is my go-to order at most bars because it's pretty reliable and most bars can make a decent one and I'd say they make a very solid one here-8.2/10 rating -Cucumber Gimlet with Tequila-($11.00)-This drink was made with lime-sweet vermouth and tequila-it was very refreshing and went down way too easy-rating 8.4/10 -Mezcal mystery drink-($12.00)-This was a drink the bartender made that after we declared our love for the smokiness of mezcal-I wouldn't be able to ask for it again unless I got the same waitress but if your a mezcal lover like I am-this drink was top of the line-smokiness intensity off the charts-9.1/10 rating So a little about the place that I picked up during my visit-I guess they serve food-I didn't know that but after my 2nd drink I looked back and saw this entire dining area with table side grills-so I guess the customers cook their own meats and such-pretty cool concept-my visit was strictly a drinking visit so I didn't partake but it looked pretty cool. I guess they are opened most days from 4p-12am and until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights. They do not have a dedicated parking lot for this bar but they are located near 34th and Broadway-so unlimited street parking is available for those who drive here. In closing-I really really enjoyed my visit to The Butterscotch Den and I was pretty sure I had found my new favorite bar in Sacramento with a bar in the Ice Blocks but I am pretty sure that has changed and The Butterscotch Den is my new favorite bar in the greater Sacramento area-if you find yourself looking for a new spot to enjoy some adult beverages or maybe looking for a date night spot-don't hesitate to make your way over to The Butterscotch Den-the place is a true hidden gem. PS-They have a Disco Ball in their lounge area and a vintage non-working cigarette machine-the coolest I tell ya.
