I bought a used engine, and had it delivered to Francos. I had to buy four motor mounts, and other parts from his uncle. He said once he replaced the motor mounts, my car wouldn't shake anymore. Picked up my car, it still shakes. He said he didn't know why. I went to a mechanic to have some work done, they told me I was missing a motor mount. Now I know why, he never put all four on that I paid for. This review is late in posting, better late than never. read more

I rebuilt my 2005 Tundra V6 with Junior about 3 years now. When he did the rebuild he told me to get all components online around the engine to change to new one as I was keeping the truck and he would not charge me extra to put in as everything else was out. I sent my friends to him and he outright told him the truck he brought had a troubled and flawed design and told him to get the new updates version as if he rebuilt my friend's engine it will fail. My friend did research which confirmed this. So far my Truck is running strong and I had to change sensors that just got old but the engine is so far so good. I hope he continues with his good workmanship and clears confusion with the negative reviewers. Might need his help on my civic hybrid as well hahaha. Junior was very helpful! I decided to reach out and received response within 20 minutes. I messaged them with the symptoms of my truck and junior explained it could be a few things. He recommended I drop the car off so that he can diagnose my truck. The next day Junior called me and explained the issue. He gave me a few options and what they could do to help. I went to Francos Engines and had my engine rebuilt for my vehicle and it took months to get it resolved because they could not figure out the problem and in between the process Junior kept saying that I needed this part and I needed that part for my engine which I realized eventually that he was just trying to make money/profit for the auto parts store that is in front of Francos Engine. Which turns out that it belongs to a family member. And to make problems worse, I took the car home after being repaired and it still had the same engine heating problems. I was not very happy with the results and I will never go back to this place again. read more

My 2000 Toyota Tacoma had head gasket issues. I found Francos through yelp and boy I'm glad I went with them. They fixed the issue and they did it on time and great price. These guys were the only ones with 5 star reviews for head gasket jobs. I found not too many shops do head gasket jobs and when they do the ratings are not the best. Biggest waste of time and money that I have ever personally experienced. A promise of a month or two to have my engine rebuilt turned into a year of disappointment. Which surprised me because the only reason I came here was because of their reviews. I had to continuously reach out for updates, every month I called the answer was always "next month". Til around mid July we came up with a compromise if I got them the parts they needed they'd have my engine installed and completed end of august. Held my end of the bargain, and had all the parts they need end of July. Showed back up august 18th with my freshly rebuild transmission and the bare engine was still in the corner of the shop, So I ended up ending the project and I picked up my unfinished engine and all parts. So much of my personal time was wasted and so was my money. 1 year lost into my project and 4K of cash down the drain. Ended the project 8/18/2021 read more

Not what I expected. Wasn't gonna post but heck,, not everyone is lucky. Had to many issues. Spent over 100 dollars on lyft rides back and forth. First they took 4 months. Which is fine, I'm a patient person, but when I got my car, felt like they rushed it. Had issues from the beginning. First issue,,, oil in spark plugs, motor mount bolt missing. Second time I took it back,, car was not heating up. Turns out they used a thermostat that was always open. Car was not heating up at all. Called and was told he had no room to park my car. So, I had my mechanic change it. Changed it to a dealer bought oem type. Once that happened, decided to look under the cat and do an inspection and noticed missing parts,,, example, intake L-bracket support missing, o2 sensor clip missing, upper radiator hose c-clamp missing,, and thats a few that i remeber. Was charged an extra 45 dollars to change the torque mount because they had to "raise the transmission",, but after checking it,, they changed the driver side,,, no transmission on that side last time I checked. So when I started to check fluids, anti freeze, noticed pressure being build up. That's when the back and forth started. Long story short, they said nothing is wrong then they blamed my mechanic for not installing the thermostat properly. They claimed the engine over heated that's why the head gasket started to leak,,, funny thing though, the heat tab was perfectly fine. Not burnt, not messed with. But why argue,, they changed the head gasket,, and now it's been a while,, just city driving,, and it's leaking,,, at 15k after rebuild. Why would a car leak at 15k after a rebuild? Would expect like at 30k or 40k but 15k?.yeah yeah,,, I know it's a 12k warranty but dam!!. It's been more than a year but still,,, pretty disappointed. Have to deal with smoke from oil burns. I think 3 stars because they fixed the problems,, but not 5 start results. Guess I wasn't that lucky. Oh yeah,,last thing, my car is white,,, got it back pretty dirty. Hand prints on bumper, fenders, hood, my trunk carpet looked like they used it to store parts in it. But hey, you win some, you lose some. read more

Needed a Chevy Cruze cylinder head looked at to see if it had any cracks and resurfaced after a blown head gasket. Unfortunately the head was no good but Junior was able source me another head, do a valve job on it so it seals 100% and resurface it. Turn around was very quick and price was reasonable. The communication between us was excellent. I previously went to another shop and got a compression test on my Honda motor. The people at the other shop told me I needed a full rebuild on my motor. When I went to Franco's, jr made an appointment with me and checked out my car. He was very honest and told me that I did not need a rebuild. I am very happy I came across this place. I recently purchased a 1995 RV with a blown Ford 460 big block. You never know what you're going to get when searching for any engine shop, but God was on my side today! I was so fortunate to find Franco's. From the first phone inquiry, Jr was so nice and explained everything perfectly. I made the decision to bring the engine into his El Monte shop last month for the rebuild. Communication remained spot on throughout the process. My timing went out on my D17 Honda and bent all my intake valves. I brought it into Franco's get the cylinder completely rebuilt. I would have given Franco's 5 start if it weren't for one slight mishap. After getting my head back and installing it, after a few days of break in, I noticed my car start to miss real bad. I checked the basics and come to find out I lost compression in one cylinder. I removed the head again and found a valve had hung up. I called Gorge and he told me to bring the head back in and he would fix it. He did and even when I told him about the inconvenience and the fact I would have to buy another head gasket, he went ahead and gave me a new head gasket and got my cylinder straightened out in no time. Based on his professionalism and quick work, I will definitely take any of my machine work to Franco's. read more

I would give this place no stars if I could. They are not professional! Rafa is a liar and his partner Junior had to try and cover for him. Rafa was supposed to work on my car and instead he took off to Mexico for months. they kept my car for 3 months and when he finally completed the job it was crap. the car broke down within a few months. the check engine light was on and they told me it was working fine and it would turn off after the engine broke in the new parts. when I called them back they refused to answer. The worst part is they charged me one price which I had to pay up front to get engine parts for rebuild and then charged me more when they screwed up some of the parts. I didnt bother going to see them again because they did not know what they were doing so why bring it back! trust me do not let them screw up your car! read more
