I support the 10 star vote. Ive been eating at Framingham Bakery my whole life. One of the two food items I have shipped from the East Coast to LA is a tray of Framingham Bakery Pizza. It should be trademarked, knighted, elected President. If you want pizza, get there early. If you want a full tray, get there earlier than that. The stuff is like gold around the area and once you miss it, it's gone for the day. You get a thick, soft crust baked in a large barery pan, very little sauce and 3 kinds of cheese giving the pie a tangy flavor that you cannot beat. I would have 2 slices of cheese and a glass of milk for breakfast for close to a year. And thats when I was 25, heh. The bread, cookies, rolls, everything, AMAZING. I love the bakery so very, very much. It's a memory from childhood, it's a memory from adulthood, really, i can't say enough. If you don't know by now, you;re missing out. read more

The reviews before mine properly sing the praises of the pizza (which is great for large groups by the way), but the best thing this place has to offer is the chocolate cake. Nothing would tell you that these cakes exist, because they are kept in the freezer and only available to those that know to ask for them. You know how you wish that some things never change? Well this place is probably the ONLY place of my youth that is still as good as it was! Found in the basement on a side street (Daytona) off of Waverly (Rte 135) I located it after a few tries (it's only been 20 years - sorry). The owners are the kids I used to see in the place. If you are stuck open your window and sniff! My mission was to eat a slice of their flat-pan bread pizza again (okay 2), and hope it was as good as it always was. While it may taste good warm I have always had it after it was out and sitting. The bread was just as yummy, the sauce the same and cheese just as cheesy as it always! It never tastes processed or dry. Their rolls are just as crusty and yeasty. The Bay Area may have the edge with sourdough, but you will never find better Italian bread than here. Some argue it's the water, and some say it's the flour (rumor is the ingredients in the baking flour are not allowed in California). I don't know - or care. All I know is that for the last 50-plus years this family-owned bakery is part of a dying breed of businesses. I know that if they are still there the next time I'm in Massachusetts so will I! I make a point of patronizing FB every time I come home. I've been happily noshing on their fresh bread for decades years. I bring my daughters with me now and they love the Sicilian pizza, as do I. You enter through a screen door off the driveway and going down a few steps into the basement to get to the bakery. The smell of fresh baked bread is mesmerizing. I've been making Italian sandwiches with FB's french sticks and rolls for as long as I can remember. This visit is no different. I only wish we had some old Italian bakeries, shops and markets down in Charleston/Mt. Pleasant. If you're in this neck of the woods and have the opportunity to stop by, I recommend it. The bakery has been in business for about 100 years spanning four generations, originating from Italian immigrants back in 1917. They continue to make their bread and baked goods fresh daily, from scratch, by hand. read more

Once upon a time...many years ago when I was still an undergrad working a not-so-hot retail job a colleague of mine brought in the best bakery pizza I ever had. Soft squares of cheese covered delight with fried eggplant. I have never been a big eggplant fan but Framingham Bakery's eggplant pizza is the one exception I will make for the deep purple vegetable. I was so hooked that I would go at least weekly to get a fix of this and their other toppings (the toppings rotate daily so there is always something different to try however they always have cheese and pepperoni). Fast forward to "real life" with a 9-5 job and few chances to get to Framingham Baking; I had gone about 3 years without any of the delectable pizza. During the summer months I started taking the back roads to work since traffic is generally light and I was once again able to get my fix. I would stop by once or twice weekly to pick up a couple of slices for lunch (a bargain at $2 or less per slice depending on the topping!). The "white cheese" is another favourite; soft bread smothered in garlic and olive oil and topped with the fantastic cheese blend. Framingham Baking Co. is an almost century-old institution with a wonderfully friendly staff who offer up good food at a fair price. Definitely worth a trip! read more

Driving home to Springfield from Boston, a good friend of mine turned me onto this place, and literally that's about the only way it could have ever happend. Down a side street, parking on the side of someone's house, down a few stairs into a basement, and you are there. No kidding. Great aromas, breads, and of course the pizza. The pizza is baked in a bakery sheet pan and comes out rectangular and thick. Very little sauce, and a little cheese, but about as traditional as you can get. The dinner rolls were also great. I don't know what the baking/technical term is, but they had some pull to them. Best I could describe, it's more like pulling apart a cotton ball, than cotton candy. Awesome. i mean seriously!!!!! best pizza ever! While i lived in mass for 9 years we went quite frequently. Now that im in Cali im missing it everyday! Everytime i go to visit though I buy a bunch of frozen pizza and bring it home. Between 3 sisters who all love Framingham bakery pizza it doesnt last long! haha. Just wish they had one out here. This small, old shcool, commercial bakery is locaed in the basement of a home and family run. The bread and pizza are worth the effort... The staff were kind enough to do a special order, stay open for me (stuck in traffic) and were very gracious about it. looking forward to checking out more of their offering. read more

I grew up eating here as a child. I am 26 now, and have still yet to have pizza better than Framingham Bakery. This is the best pizza I have ever eaten period. It might not be for all people, but if you want to try something different, swing by this place. Always picked up about 8 squares before work to get me through the day. read more

A wonderful family-owned community business (over 100 years old in same location) that offers a nice selection of breads, cookies, granola, beverages, and the house speciality pizzas (many topping varieties available daily). If a ten star review was possible, I'd give Framingham Baking all of them. The people, the product and the prices all live up to the hype. There's nothing even comparable outside of Boston. This is a unique, family-owned joint that's been around since the 1950s, so generations of locals were raised on their tasty breads and treats. But the real reason for my 5-star review is the pizza. Large, puffy slices baked fresh every day that you will become addicted to (if you're not already). Go there now, buy a simple sice of cheese, and pop it into your toaster at home. Then drive all the way back and buy an entire tray of this stuff. And if you've never had it, it's not your standard pizza. It's nothing like the Papa Gino's kinda of pizza. It's bakery-made, square, plush, crustless and divine. They also sell local-made salad dressings from the Mencoboni's of La Cantina across the way (another one of the few remaining tried-and-true, family-owned operations in town). In a land of strip malls and chain restaurants, you will savor and appreciate Framingham Baking's handmade delights. read more

I fondly remember dropping by the warm basement every Saturday with my dad to grab a few slices of spongy pizza squares covered with gooey cheese. We wouldn't even warm them up when we got home! This is a fantastic bakery that has been around for ages, and offers a plethora of delicious bakery products, most notably their signature square pizza. read more

The Framingham Bakery truly is a Gem in this Town. The Bake goods are made daily FRESH! the bread is incredible - the bake good are very good and the served cold Pan Pizza is AMAZING! Checked this hidden jewel out today, after reading so many good review about it. I was duly impressed. I picked up some super tasty bread, a package of fresh cupcakes and a slice of pepperoni pizza that I warmed in the microwave on site. Talk about delicious! I am a bit of a pizza snob, and tend to be pulled by the old greek style from growing up with my hometown's tasty pizza in York, Maine - but this was something totally different and incredibly satisfying. I will most definitely be back for more and will be making this a regular stop on my "circuit". The place is a no-frills joint, but it's clean and it's been around about 95 years according to the friendly woman working the counter. Highly recommend. read more

Honestly, I was disappointed with this place. I didn't have the pizza, but I bought white rolls, raisin bread, and anise cookies. I figured that would be a fair sample. They didn't taste like they were made of fine ingredients, and was horrified to see that the raisin bread had partially hydrogenated oils in it. Honestly, stuff I've bought from Market Basket's bakery tasted better. I will NOT be going back. read more

Best bakery pizza and bread you will ever have. I always get a tray of pizza for any functions I have and now when we get invited to other functions we get requsts to bring a tray. Pretty awesome bakery. Great pizza and good breads. I don't know how they get their dough so tasty but it is good. I just hope they don't match their dough with butter when they bake it. I think my wife's first solid food was the pizza from Framingham Baking Co pizza. She grew up in Framingham and her dad would go there every Saturday morning for pizza and bread and then stop at TJ's Italian store down the street for cold cuts. All I have ever heard about was this pizza. I can't believe fow awesome it is! Now I really wish I had grown up in Framingham, too. We now live in West Fitchburg and every time we get near there, we go there for 6 slices. We aren't even out of their drive way and we are already eating a slice. it's really TOO good!!! It's always served at family parties and a MUST HAVE favorite when others in the family are home visiting. It's nice to see that the daughter is carrying on her family's work. We're just glad that they were able to recover after the fire earlier in the year!! If you haven't ever tried their pizza, you have to GET THERE NOW! read more

Hands down they have the best baked goods in New England. Their bread is fantastic, but their Pizza is completely off the charts. I am still amazed that is is better than anything in the North End. I had heard for years that the Pizza was great, but never tried it. My wife and I tried it for the first time last week and it was amazing. Don't let the fact that it appears to be a house fool you. Picked up a cake for my son's baptism. It was so beautiful! Everyone was raving about the cake. The butter cream was not too sweet and the cake was just the right texture. Being a local Framinghamite, I've been eating Framingham Baking pizza since I could chew and swallow! Their pizza is absolutely unreal - I could eat 10 slices in one sitting (not really) but it's that great! There's something about the cheese that makes it delightful and SO creamy. read more
