We happened upon Silva's Bakery in Hudson and had to stop. This cute bakery features cases overflowing with sweets, alongside a selection of packaged Brazilian foods and bolos. While I was tempted by one of my favorites--the bolo de tres leites (or tres leches cake)--the Alfajor cookies stole the show. They are incredible, melt-in-your-mouth shortbread sandwich cookies filled with rich doce de leite (dulce de leche) and rolled in shredded coconut. A total must-try! We also loved the flaky, delicious puff pastry apple turnover. Service was prompt, and the staff was welcoming, answering all of our questions with clear, helpful descriptions. Went there due to good review. The bakery selection was very limited, and I noticed a fly inside the display.

I found the most incredible fresh baked English muffins here. I grab extra bags as gifts to bring friends. They are soft, chewy, moist and just a tad sweet. You can tell just by squishing them in the bag they're not your average English muffin. I drive to Hudson just for these. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

Came in to get some small fresh rolls on my way through town. I barely made it before closing time. There wasn't anyone in the place it was completely empty except for the cashier behind the counter. I asked for a bag of rolls and she got exactly how many I asked for very quickly and politely. Love the bread here, definitely will keep coming back for sure. read more

Seriously these ladies make the best pastries. Their pastels are so delicious and the pao de quejo is so good. It's the perfect snack for my gluten free family members. They're also really helpful to people who don't speak Portuguese! Every visit I have tried something new and each time has been wonderful. So glad to have them so close! read more

They've moved one unit to the right. A Portuguese sit down restaurant is now in Silva's former location. The staff has always been friendly with me and seem to know which customers to speak English or Portuguese without trying the other. I've been tempted to suggest they raise their prices but so far I've been able to keep my amazement to myself. Earlier this week I picked up 6 or 7 little treats for about $5. On my first or second visit, I asked the young lady behind the counter her favorite. It's a custard with sweet cheese in a small, round crust. Of course I ordered it and yes, it's very good. She keeps reminding me of the name but I can never remember. There are other varieties of this dessert including sweet bean. They now accept credit cards. In the new location, they have a long counter mounted to the wall so you can sit and eat if you choose. read more

The best Portuguese/Brazilian bakery in the state! They not only have the best bread/rolls/cupcakes/sweets/fried brazilian "coxinha" that I have taste in this area. I've been to tons of places like this and have not found a better spot. Staff are always friendly and everything is fresh. Specially the fried or baked goos. You know if they stay too long in there, it will go bad. But at this place you will always find at fresh so far. Another good thing is the price. They beat the competition on price as well. If I go to another bakery it will be almost double the price. You should try their "Coxinha" it is awesome! It is a Brazilian deep fried potato dough mix with shredded chicken breast and spices on the inside. By far they make it #1 in my list! Also try it w/ Catupiry-style cheese! read more

If you want french bread, get there before 8 - by 830 they are SOLD OUT! Hudson is a little deceiving town, with colorful and charming and hard working people. Silvas bakery is one of the "portuguese" clan that melds with the italians and other hispanics to make this little town a melting pot of flavors. Someone recommended it, so I thought I'd try it, and found it worth a stop. I took the kids there and we went for variety, and were happy with most everything. The round loaf of bread was a hearty white bread. The chocolate sided cookies (red, green, uncolored), tasted like a shortbread, and were good. Two tarts, one custard and one a sugared jelly (much like a pecan pie) were both tasty. The Fried dough is a hearty chewy dough with sugared cinnamon. My daughter said she liked the cheesecake. The last two things were warm offerings, a mini shrimp tart/pie and chicken in fried bread. The Shrimp pie was ok (some shrimp chunks with some additional filling), but I wasn't a fan of the spices used, and it was a bit crumbly when you tried to eat it. The Chicken had similar spicing chicken but I found it more to my liking (Chicken was ground as if in a quisinart), it held together better when eaten, but a little too salty, so it didn't quite hit the mark with me either. All things considered, I think the offerings were quality, so I think it's worth a stop in. read more

Wonderful small bakery and excellent coffee. Sweet bread rolls were excellent. The ham and cheese filled croissant had very good texture and was generously filled with ham and cheese. Service was very friendly and prices are reasonable. Wish they had more outdoor seating during this COVID crisis. read more

The sweet bread here is fantastic... and this is the only bakery I go to. My grandmother was craving sweet bread one day and my mother and aunt spent hours scouring the Worcester area and NONE of the bakeries even carried it, some of them never heard of it. I wish I could leave them zero stars!! I went to this bakery a number of times mainly for their bread and rolls. Bread and rolls were always fresh and ok but nothing special. Occasionally I would buy a couple of cookies or donuts, and frankly these were always STALE...not just a little bit stale but like CEMENT. I kept going for the bread figuring maybe I was just missing something on the pastries. The last straw was when I decided to try the muffins - I bought half a dozen assorted corn and blueberry. They were sold/displayed right out of the bakery case as fresh. But when I got them home and served them to my guests, it was quickly clear that they were at least a WEEK old. Terrible, hard, dry, flavorless. A total waste of money. Others have mentioned that they thought that this bakery bakes the pastries every few days or once a week...I think that in reality some of this stuff sits there for a month or more. How they can sell these stale old products with a smile I have no idea. Frankly its an insult to be sold ancient baked goods this bad presented as fresh. I will never return. read more

I use their Italian bread to make the best French toast on this planet. I used to live in Hudson and frequent this bakery. It is definitely the real deal- great pastries and bread. I live about 1/2 hour away now, but still make the drive when it's time to make the French toast. read more

I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. I am looking for a local bakery to make a birthday cake for a party I have coming up. Usually I go in and try some of their pastries and cupcakes beforehand to get an idea of quality. Today I went in and bought a vanilla cupcake, a mini chocolate pie and an M&M cookie. (all three cost $5.50) I was very disappointed all three tasted very stale and old. A lot of people were buying their bread and they were selling out of the bread. So I guess it is like some other Portuguese bakeries I've been to where the pastry is made once a week but the bread is baked fresh daily. I probably won't order my cake here but I will try and get some of their bread next time. read more

I'm here at least once to twice a week for years to buy bread, but be advised they sometimes run out of some types of bread by mid-day. Even though they seem to sell Silva's branded bread in the local Supermarets its not the same. There's nothing like freshly made and sliced crusty bread. Occasionaly I get one of their savory buns that have have ham or chicken salad in them if I'm there around lunch time. The chicken salad one is very interesting in that it's baked into the bun sort of like a calzone (but with less filling). Sounds kind of weird but it's very tasty. The pastries are hit-or-miss. I used to get one of two 'usual' items every time I bought bread (I'll won't list the items because they will probably be able to identify me if I do), but about 50% of the time they would be kind of stale. I guess I'm too shy to ask how old the item is before ordering, so I just gave up on the pastries for the most part. read more

Very disappointing. Went here on 10/11/17 and bought a loaf of sweet bread and some Portuguese muffins. I have had better sweet bread from a number of other bakeries and when I tried to have 1 of the muffins the next morning they were all moldy. I would take them back and complain in person but it would cost me more in gas than the muffins are worth. read more

I've been a customer for many years and although the rolls are still the best around, I have to say they aren't half as good as they once were. They used to have a great crust, with yeasty soft inside, baked just right. Over the years I've noticed two or three changes in the way they are done, and recently ran into a couple of batches of raw flour inside; the crust is now soft.
