The apple crumble pie was tangy and delicious. The peanut butter cookie was dense and flavorful. I look forward to returning when I'm in the area. They also have the option to write a note of encouragement or inspiration to someone suffering from mental illness. I thought that was a sweet gesture and liked participating in that. So Michaels is my craft store of choice! The store is clean, well lit, and organized. They also have an app that will tell you what aisle things are on, if you already know what you're looking for. They do really good sales and the people are friendly. The only thing I don't like, and everyone is doing it, is the self checkout. You have to have at least one employee manning the self checkout, but no one to actually do it. I hate that.

Magic Pen and Party is a great boutique to order or custom design your invitations. They have a large selection of invitations (better than most places), however after reviewing books upon books of invitations, I had a hard time finding my wedding colors, pistachio green and orange. I already formed an opinion of the things I liked in invitations, such as fold out with pockets, certain colors & metallic paper. So the associate suggested custom invitations. I worked with both Tiffany and the owner, Mary, depending who was working in the store that day. They are both great, gave undivided attention and had fabulous ideas. They worked with me on the font, size, design, layout, you name it. You can tell they enjoy what they do and seem to like the creativeness and working with people. Needless to say I was a bit high maintenance when it came to my invitations but they were gracious and even stayed late one night to finalize the project. I went ahead and paid for assembly as I had too many other concerns than to assemble them myself but but it was NICE option that I could do it myself and save some money if need be. The result? A fabulous invitation that I absolutely LOVED! The original invoice stated that the order would be ready around March 10th. Since today is March 9th, my parents attempted to call the store to follow up. Oddly, someone answered then hung up on them without saying "Hello" or "Please excuse us". This happened 3 times! On the fourth try, the employee on the other line just yelled at my dad! The voice was female, and they were literally yelling loud enough for all of us to hear that our order is not ready. My dad took a deep breath and calmly asked, "Excuse me, but we haven't given you our names or the order number yet." They responded, "Oh, I know. You're calling for [random person's name]." Then we asked, "How would you be able to know? We still haven't given our name or order, plus we never used this phone number to call the store or have it on the invoice." They then snapped, "It doesn't matter. Your order is not ready to pick up." We then requested to cancel our order, and she went ballistic! This employee continued to yell while we remained quiet and calm. Luckily for us, we confirmed that this rude employee was Michelle. We then called our credit card company and explained our situation. They were able to give us a credit equal to the refund, and they let us know that this store is legally obligated to give us a full refund. They also let us know that it is our right to pick up the item anyway since we paid in full. Since we were in the area, we decided to pay a visit. When the employees in the front had a minute, we explained our situation. They immediately called the management, and the store manager sympathized with us. They got with the department manager, and this person was visibly irritated with us. Luckily, the store manager was still with us, so they begrudgingly gave us a full refund. Although we were able to nick this issue in the bud, we do not recommend purchasing from the frame section of this store - or at the very least when Michelle is working. It is sad to state the obvious - don't take your stress out on other people!
