This was a pretty typical Joann's. It seemed like a bit older and smaller than other stores that I have visited, but it is still nice. They still had a nice selection of items. They had floral, cake decorating, arts and crafts, fabrics, patterns, garden decor and more. If you have a bug to create but don't know where to begin, they offer classes as well. One of the Joann's marketing tactics is things are ALWAYS on sale, it's just a matter of what percentage they have off of what items. After standing in line a while she starts checking my items then stops checking to answer the phone and then proceeds to call someone asking them about a product- then gets back on phone to let the customer know that she and her coworker do not know the answer..... waiting.. finally get out and I'm not going back. read more

Don't waste your time shopping at this store. It looks trashy and the employees don't give a crap about customers either! They let me walk out of the store because they were too lazy to check inventory for what I was looking for to the point of trying to send me to another store 30 miles away even though they had what I was looking for there but didn't want to expel any effort to look for it. This review concerns both Joann.com and Joann in Grapevine, TX. To begin, I placed a large order of Christmas decor online that was shipped in five different shipments. The last package hasn't even shipped over a week later; it is still showing processing as I type. The first box I received had two broken items. One of them was simply placed in the box on a sheet of bubble wrap. The other was in a separate box wrapped in brown paper. I ordered replacements online to be picked up as I was going to have to make a trip to return the badly packaged items anyway. As most people know, Joann's will not charge your card until you pick up your order. About 15 minutes after I placed my order I received not only the confirmation email but an email thanking me for picking up my order. I tried calling the store at least half a dozen times (I say at least because I stopped noting the times after six) to ensure that someone else had not picked it up. Each time the automated system routed my call and it rang until it was disconnected. The customer service rep that answered the Joann.com number couldn't get through to the store either and said I should just go over there and check on them. Finally, someone answered and claimed there was just a glitch in the system and asked if I wanted to return the items. At this point I had already decided I didn't need them badly enough to go through this nonsense so I said to do that. He tried to hang up, but I insisted he do it right then. When he came back to the call it was done, but he had no confirmation number when I asked and hung up on me. I'm still waiting for the charge to reverse. Stick to Michael's or Hobby Lobby. There's a reason Joann's is in such dire financial shape. read more

I'm not sure if this is the right place to leave a review for online shopping with Joanne. I placed an order online to have it delivered to my home. Instead of sending the order all at once they broke it into pieces. On top of it I only ordered three items but I ordered three of each of those three items. On one of the items they sent me one correct one and two incorrect ones. I honestly don't know how you can make that mistake on such a small order. I sent an email to their customer service and received an automated response that they were "crafting up a response". A couple of days had passed and I hadn't heard anything so I left another email. I do understand that these things sometimes take time but I still haven't heard anything back from customer service. I have to label them as untrustworthy. This is just in my experience. read more

I went to the Grapevine location today to pickup an attachment to my Husqvarna Viking sewing machine. No problem there. I needed a new rotary cutter and blades. This store keeps those and scissors locked on display rods. I asked one of the staff if she had a key so I could purchase what I needed. She seemed confused and baffled by my request. She said, "I don't know. Maybe, if you go (all the way) upfront you can take a number." There were only a few customers in the store and they didn't seem to need one of the locked up items. It made no sense. It was clear to me that if I wanted to buy these simple tools, I'd have to go through an inconvenient and time consuming hassle. It wasn't worth it to me. I decided to go elsewhere where making a simple purchase was easier and quicker. Staff should have immediate access to these locked items so that the customer does not have to walk all over the store looking for someone with the key. read more

When asking about a thread holder to use because the one for my Brother sewing machine broke, the lady helping me was shaking her head before I could even finished, stopped me, and said they don't carry any brother products before I could finish my sentence. This store looks like an older store, and is not as large as the huge one in Hurst; however, they still had a great selection of merchandise. As this is the week before Christmas, the employees are busy getting the holiday merchandise pulled out to the front to sell. The store is clean and well kept, and the shelves are stocked - the fleece fabric wall is very impressive. And I'm really kicking myself for not buying more of their home decor stuff! Teachers/school workers get a discount. They don't have a ton of people working, so service can be slow. I Visited this location 3/09/22. The store was a mess and the cashier yelled at me . I was trying to read a box that was along the wall close to a register and he yelled at the top of his lungs " get away from there " ! I was so shocked to be yelled at by an employee. My 27 year old son was with me and tried to explain to the cashier that I was just trying to read the box to see if I wanted to buy this item . The cashier then said "I don't care " . Such a crazy experience . Pretty sure I've never been spoken to that way by anyone . Then another cashier came to the front to help because the line was so long . She proceeded to yell at everyone in line . She was mad because the lady she was helping didn't have her app open with her coupon ready . Go online and check for coupons! This place always has awesome coupons but you need to be smart and remember to look them up and show then when checking out (easier said than done sometimes :) . The layout is easy to figure out, the fabric cutting counter can get a bit nuts, just make sure you get a number asap so your not sitting forever. Things are going MUCH better. There's no more attitude in the evening, the employees have all been friendly and are actually scanning the membership code, evidently you actually CAN earn points, no one was ever scanning it before. No more lights out, and I swear the store is cleaner and more well organized, they even have signage up by the findings in the jewelry section to help you locate your items. The app has also been accurate about what's in stock. It's been a remarkable and quick turn around. It seems like the foot traffic has also increased. I'm so glad, this store carries better items than it's competition and it's so close and convenient. I want it to continue to do well. Sign on an end cap says 40% off. There were no other type items on the end cap. Halloween related. Looked like everything in the store Halloween related was 40%off Bought two items. Rang up regular price. I paid but upon examining receipt before I left cashier area, I questioned why no discount. Very rude cashier told me I was wrong. He didn't bother to go look, but I did, after i paid. Sign there Took picture. Stood in line again since there was only one cashier. Showed him picture. He said it must be a mistake. I pointed out that he should honor anyway. He THEN went & looked. Came back with sign. Said it didn't apply to those items & that sign shouldn't be there I said " so your customers should just "know" that?" He shrugged shoulders. Refused to honor. I asked for and got refund & left. Dear Jo-Ann's, My wife just had the worst customer service experience in your Grapevine, TX location with the manager, Chris B. So I thought I would tell you the story. Background: My wife is a second grade teacher who loves Jesus and one of the nicest, most caring people that I know. She had purchased some items and realized half way home that the cashier had charged her for an item that she did not purchase. So she turned around with a toddler to come back to the store and get it refunded. When she got back to the store, she spoke with the manager who was checking people out (there was about 15 people in line). She quickly told him the situation and asked if someone could fix the problem so that she could get our son home since it was the cashiers fault. Manager: "There were a lot of people ahead of you so you need to get to the back of the line." (In rude tone) My Wife: "Can't you see what I am saying, you guys messed up and I shouldn't have to wait, especially with a toddler." Manager: "No, I don't see what you are saying." (In a rude tone) My Wife: "You are being very rude." Manager: "You are the one being rude, trying to bully your way to the front of the line." After he finally checked her out, she was signing the receipt and he said, "You can't even sign it right." So she called and left a complaint with corporate. Then I called to ask him to apologize to my wife. Manager: "She wouldn't get to the back of the line." Me: "I don't care, you are the manager and you work in customer service. You need to have professionalism." Manager: "Maybe I could have handled it better, I tend to get testy with people that are rude to me first." Me: "Are you kidding me? You can't talk to people like that. I don't know how long you have been managing that store, but you certainly have a lot to learn." Manager: "Are you done?" Please do something about this. Jo-Ann's is my go to place for anything to do with sewing. I am not a crafty person so I do not shop in that area but they have great isles of sewing supplies. On this trip I was looking for snaps that I could use to fix the snaps on the cuffs of my jean shirt. (The cuffs were too big) Found the right tool with the snaps and mind you really need to know what you are looking for to find it. Lots of choices for my little task...and the tool I purchased worked beautifully. They do have a nice selection of upholstery material although they do not showcase it well. Merchandising is not Jo-Ann's expertise and if they took the time to merchandise properly they would attract more customers. Jo-Ann's is run by a bunch of women (mostly) that are hard core crafters and seamstresses so they know their stuff. Always helpful and friendly. They always have a long line to check out so bring your patience when you shop here because you will need it. read more

I special ordered a embossing envelope and I did not know it takes two weeks nor was I told I could not cancel. I called a week of placing this special order and both associates refused to check to see if it had came in. Apparently it takes two weeks. I was not told that. The associate refused to check if it had even came in. She stated only one person handles special orders and that person is off for 5 days. Really? That is ridiculous. The ladies in this Joanns location are so helpful when you are trying to find specific fabrics. I was starting a project and needed to test some pieces to see if I could dye them without the print bleeding out and they helped me find samples. Apparently it's impossible to find pink Cowboys fabric so with their help I was able to fix my fabric dilemma. My project turned out great. Thanks to helpful customer service. Horrible customer service. I came in one night and asked for help from an associate walking around the floor. Turns out she was helping another customer but said wait a minute and I will help you after I finish helping this lady. I wait near them but far enough away so as not to crowd them. She finished with that lady and came up to me and said I'm sorry I can't help you because my shift is over. I don't know what you are looking for. So I walk around and find another lady. She helped me find what I was looking for. Which was one aisle away from where I asked the first associate-on the endcap no less! So I go to check out about 20 minutes later and that first associate was still there. Looks at me, says nothing and walks off toward the middle of the store. Weird! Well I hadn't been there in a few years so I chalked it up to one bad experience. Went back a few weeks later...wrong merchandise displayed under different prices!!! Everything was in the wrong area! And they just don't care. The fabric counter is the worst. It's like you are bothering them when you ask for a yard of fabric. Those are just employees that just don't care. The people at Joanns Grapevine are extremely helpful and go beyond my normal expectations. I had lost the instructions to a certain sewing pattern I had bought a few weeks before, so I went up to the fabric-cutting counter to ask if I could take a picture of the instructions I was missing. They gave me a whole new set of instructions for free and I did not have to purchase the pattern all over again! I came here after work one day to browse and pick up fabric and other neccessities. Since I was wandering around so much, I would leave my cart in an empty aisle for the time being while I quickly scanned other narrow aisles. Well, I left my cart for too long during my trip because the grouchy woman, Stephanie working the fabric cutting counter mistook my items for abandoned go backs :-( It was embarrassing enough to ask her for my fabric back but then she started to lecture me about it! Calm down, this is a fabric store not a crowded busy bar! Guess they have nothing better to do. The problem with brick and mortar stores isn't so much that they're inconvenient to get to, but that they understaff them so drastically that after 30 minutes of waiting for help in three different lines, I left the store. With only one person at the register, I waited at least 15 minutes to ask a question. The lady in front of me was returning items and was arguing with the clerk. She called for assistance not because I was standing there for 15 min, but because eventually the line started getting longer. What that says to me is that my time is not as important as the length of their lines. When my question was answered by another person, I waited in line again to get help finding an item. Once found, I waited in a third line to get material cut. After being in the store for over 30 minutes and still being the third person in line, I left without buying anything.
