So I got excited about writing a review for these guys to help repay them for how great of a job they did... unsurprisingly though they have over 90 reviews and they have 5 stars... so much for any "help" these guys needed-- A well deserved 5 Stars indeed. In any case, their team was extremely professional, courteous and kind... Most of all they were extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. I've had many things framed around my house all over the Bay Area and these guys exceeded all expectations (see attached my championship rugby jersey they framed for me last week). The guy to know over there is Doug... He flat out knows his stuff, is very creative, and will walk you through the process in a very accommodating fashion. His experience level is unparalleled to many other framers I've worked with in the past all around the bay. Lastly, they are great with group orders... They processed our teams order very efficiently and professionally with the highest level of communication and price sensitivity. I'm a big fan of FRAME! I recently brought in a diploma and an original illustration that I wanted framed and had an excellent experience. I wasn't set on a frame direction prior to my visit but Stephen worked with me and helped me look through samples in order to select the perfect frames/backings for both my pieces. I appreciate that he took his time with me and pulled samples based on my thoughts and feedback - he was very helpful and friendly! My pieces didn't take too long to frame - somewhere close to a week - and I got a text as soon as they were ready for pickup! I even paid prior to pickup, so it was as easy as walking in and walking back out in a matter of minutes with my newly framed artwork! The people are very knowledgeable about framing newspapers. Framing a newspaper isn't as easy as you'd think. I called a week ahead and asked them how I could preserve a piece of newspaper and the owner was very knowledgeable in this area. I could frame and let it yellow over time or plaque it. Plaqueing it would have been time consuming. I brought the paper in on a Wednesday and they had it done that Friday knowing it was a gift for someone that I need done quickly. I will use them again. My favorite way to work is to find people who are excellent at what they do and then to let them do their thing. I had this Noguchi rice paper print that I knew I wanted framed but wasn't quite sure how. Doug found the perfect frame - the profile mimicked the artwork- and mounted the print so the paper's edges can be seen. Done perfectly and quickly. New favorite frame store! They were able to flatten out and remat a warped print I had (looks like a whole new picture now). Love their selection of frames (not cheap, but the good stuff never is) and their eye (I insisted on looking at all the frames for a vintage color-painted photo but the one they recommended in the first two minutes was perfect and ended up being the only one I liked for the project). I also appreciate that they'll advise folks to look at pre-built frames when something is a standard size rather than simply taking advantage of folks who may not know much about framing. I learned of FRAME through friends of mine down here in Los Angeles. I had a few prints that needed framing and they suggested Doug (Sluggo) who regularly does work for out of towners. I mailed the prints to them, and they shipped back the finished products. Easy, and surprisingly not expensive. This place is amazing. I've worked with two different guys and both of them were incredibly nice and helpful and did beautiful work. They offered me a range of options price-wise (and didn't make me feel bad or weird if I couldn't afford something), recommended frames and matting that picked up on little elements of the pieces I was framing, made sure to understand what I wanted (e.g. how something should be centered), and put a lot of time and attention into the whole process. I initially got two pieces framed a few months ago and I was so happy with them that I brought in more this fall. Their work looks a million times better than anything else I've had framed and I will definitely be back next time I need something framed (even though they are out of my way). I don't write a lot of online reviews but this place is a gem -- great people, great energy, reasonable prices (considering the skill required), and beautiful work. read more
