I had a large (25'' x 40'') print that I wanted a simple frame for and was shocked when several framing places in the city gave me a quote of $600+ to do the job. I was excited about the concept of Mountary and even more so when I saw that it'd cost me a third of what other places wanted to charge. I like how there's no confusion about pricing - it's very up-front on their site. I got the white glove service which was very convenient. Neil brought all the different frame finishes and mats that they carry. He offered his opinion, but left it completely up to me which color I ended up choosing. I got back the finished job right on time and was very pleased with the result. They use a sturdy, UV-resistant plexiglass that is clear like glass, but without the extra weight or the potential to shatter. The frame is super smooth and great quality. DO NOT USE THIS FRAMING SERVICE. *WARNING* Take the time to review all of the photos I have uploaded...it is unbelievable. I was a return customer to Mountary as I used their services in 2016 with great success so I decided to use his service again because it is very convenient. Things have clearly changed. I had four pieces of original artwork (some with multiple pieces within them) this time for Neil to frame. The result was pretty bad: -All of the drawings have been attached on all four sides so that they cannot expand and contract and have ripples in the paper/canvas ...hopefully the pieces are not damaged...TBD. -The frame that is natural wood is one step from being milled, the clear finish is uneven and there are fissures in the edges. -In the piece that was matted (which was supposed to be a float) the mat is too big for the frame so it is bulging out from the center and they actually covered parts of the image! -They trimmed an edge off of an original artwork without permission from me. Unbelievable. -One of the pieces is mounted crooked in the frame. I have asked him what the brand of the mounting material is so that I can carefully remove the pieces from the mounting boards according to the manufacturers instructions and he will not respond. If you are looking to frame a $10 poster, you will be fine but be warned...do not let them handle any original artwork. When I spoke with Neil, he was very combative. He did subsequently refund me $389 of the $907 I paid. BUT you know what? I have still paid $518 for horrible frames and service that are useless to me.....the pieces have to be removed so that they will not be damaged from the way they have been attached and I have an original artwork that has been altered. read more

Neil talked a good game about his white glove service so we signed up to have a simple canvas stretching done. He asked to be paid up front which seemed reasonable and said it'd take a week. However, it's been 3 weeks and counting and while there was one (canceled by him) attempt to deliver the picture back, we can't seem to get his attention or any commitment as to when we much see the painting. So my advice is move on. The service here isn't good and the there certainly are better choices. As a follow on - spoke to Neil, the owner or manager. No apology, told me that he really didn't care and hung up on me. I'm not sure what's changed vs other reviews, but clearly these guys have lost it. read more

They are modern in style and come in a variety of colors. The order is placed online and the website does a great job of explaining the terms associated with custom framing. I was a total newbie at custom framing so the detailed walk-through was extremely helpful. The exact measurements of your piece are required so make sure you measure that. Like one of the previous reviews points out, once the package arrives, the directions were a bit more general than I expected (do NOT throw out the brown paper that looks like garbage because that will be affixed to the back of your frame). I was also the first customer of their White Glove service. For a very competitive price, someone arrives at your home and helps you pick out what kind of custom frame would look best with your piece. The piece was framed and delivered in a reasonable amount of time... less than 2 weeks from the appointment. Looks exactly how I wanted it to. I have no complaints. It's a great value. I'm a fine art photographer that frequents bars in Williamsburg hitting on post college grads and foreign chicks that don't speak English. As such, I don't have a lot of time scheduled between my bookings (Union Pool's patio) and shoots (my bedroom) to drop off and pick up prints from the cheap frame shops in Bushwick. Ikea frames work great, but I hate cropping and run into issues with large format prints (not to mention matting). Now I'm a pretty fucking scummy guy, and the stuff I'm printing is not the stuff I want to be carrying around unless it's to the gallery. These guys make it easy to get custom frames and mats directly to my studio (kitchen) so I don't have to lug that heavy, awkward shit on the L train. It ain't the cheapest, but the dimensions are flat rate and free shipping is pretty epic. My only gripe is that they don't offer DEM or UV plexi - but I can't afford that shit anyways. The site is hard to find on google (mountary.com), but pretty easy to use - except for that chat window with Neal - nice guy, just doesn't shut up. read more

The site allowed me to easily enter my print size, select a mat and pick a style of frame. I immediately received confirmation that my order was being handled and built. Of course it was easy to order, the frame looks great, the mounting was easy, and the packaging was adorable. But it get's better. There was a small mix-up with my order. The frame I got was similar to, but not exactly what I ordered. I was a little disappointed at first, but rolled with it. Then I got an email from Neil, who suspected there was a mix-up, and asked if I got the right frame. He personally came and picked up the wrong frame (I live in San Francisco), then re-framed my item for me in the right frame, and personally delivered it to me.
