We had a priceless piece of art reframed as a shadow box. Although it looks classic and minimalist, it is actually a very technical framing job and one that is easy to mess up. But the execution was flawless and the result is impactful. Shout out to Kat, Cody and Melvin on the framing team that made this possible. read more

I came here with barely knowledge of what I needed to start oil painting but there were plenty of store employees walking the store able to be my personal shopper assistant and make me feel welcome and taken care of and not taken advantage of. I wasn't upsold on anything and felt like I left with so much more knowledge which came for free! Greg was the person who helped me Ava what a nice guy and expert on this stuff. They carry many brands and options and I don't think the prices were outrageous. Art isn't cheap! read more

Buying art supplies can be overwhelming as a noob. Grateful to the staff for helping even though I didn't ask. They must have saw I needed it. :) Got advice on which paints to buy, what to skip and was checked in on a few times. Great customer service! read more

I've loved my experience here so far! The staff is very friendly and helpful with answering questions. This location has a decent selection of art supplies, for hobbyists and professionals alike. A few of the paints I was looking for were out of stock, but I'll check back in again soon. The location is pretty convenient and the price point is good, given that professional-grade art supplies can be a splurge at times... read more

I needed a portfolio to store the photo prints for a class I'm taking. They had a good variety and I found the item I was looking for. I'm glad I was able to go to an actual art store and not have to order it online. It was nice to see the item in person so I know it would be the right size for my stuff. read more

Melvin and Jenny did a great job advising me on stretching and framing. I got a great result! Thank you

Blick Art..it's so confusing..Van Ness art store...Flex art supplies and Utrecht supplies..."Blick" and "Pearl" art supplies...vacant stares...art supplies are hard to understand and cost this much money..in a different region or city of USA...humans use art supplies even for home improvement...let it be a "lawsuit." that's right...I enjoyed going back to the art store with my dwindling artist's trust fund...last year I recall the day I visited the Van Ness art store...and got back this year to this one on Market near Ikea...bought a gel pen...one...and interesting gift display read more

I had a really great experience at Market's Blick store. The assistant manager Melvin was such a great help and wonderful collaborator to some prints I got custom framed!! Along with him, I want to give a super big thanks to Rose, Sam, Jen and Cody for helping me out and giving me a great framing experience. They were all so eager and creative in helping me choose colors. Thanks yall! Super duper appreciate it :) The team members are always wonderful and I know I'll be taken care of coming into the store. Thanks to Melvin for spearheading such a amazing team. Great store with helpful staff and a myriad of art supplies, toys and other objects. It's easy to find what you want.,

Love coming to Blick for my art supplies! They have everything needed for crafting, painting, drawing, etc. Some materials are locked behind glass cases and you have to ask for assistance. Staff is usually pretty quick to assist. Just note that you they have to take the item from the glass cases to the register immediately. read more

I will not return... the sale folks are nasty, evil and sneaky. I work for myself on the side I also get supplies on occasion for my day job. I will not patronize this store any longer Changing my membership card is outrageous and petty. I buy a lot stop treating folks you think aren't artist badly...you all seem like jealous fools. I will go to the Artist Supply in Berkeley and Flax near the marina instead here on I'm been shopping here since Pearl left but no more. read more

I love this store, they're always very friendly and willing to help. In a world where customer service has been going away, they still give the best customer service of any store. And they carry a lot of items in store as well as online. Unfortunately I wonder if this store is doing ok. They had several dark aisles with no lights, and the few lights they had were blinking like they were on the fritz, triggering my floating out of body feelings I get from blinking lights (frontal lobe epilepsy.) read more

Blick always has exactly what I am looking for. Even better than having the supplies I need is being able to talk with their knowledgeable staff. Everyone working there seems to be an artist with tremendous knowledge about the best products to use for getting my art project completed. When I was at my wits' end in trying to find a teacher for a painting technique I wanted to learn, somebody at the counter had a terrific recommendation for a local art school. I signed up, took the class, loved the teacher, and got the job done! The location is also very convenient, as I regularly go downtown at least twice a week. read more

This "the" art store in the US! There is anything and everything you need in this particular store in SF. Special thanks to the management, especially Melvin, for accommodating the needs of customers, making artists life easy. I wish the store was more accessible to free parking and located outside SF. I just love to be in this store. read more

My wife and I were at Blick twice recently to get some artwork framed. The first time we were assisted by Melvin, the store's Asst Mgr. Melvin gave us great service! We spent about an hour with him. He was very patient with us, giving us excellent suggestions and recommendations, and patiently answered all of our many questions. It was definitely a pleasure working with Melvin. On our second visit we were assisted by Cody. Although we didn't spend as much time with him as we did with Melvin, he gave us similar service. So we want to give a shout out to Cody as well. Overall, our experience at Blick was excellent due to Melvin and Cody. read more

Rebecca in the frame shop was hugely helpful-their calm, kind, professional and sensitive approach to my framing project. Rebecca assisted me with the selection of the right color mat for my artwork as well as helped me maximize the best value for my needs. This was a great first framing order experience for me and I will definitely be returning for future projects. Melvin was very accommodating with my variety of different material needs -they showed me different options for each item I needed and looked up other things I inquired about. Everyone showed great pride and professionalism. read more

custom framing is not for the weak of heart. you pay what you choose and purchase. with help from Mark we found what we think was the perfect frame, mat and highlight color. it was ready within a day of when promised. we picked up and were very pleased with the way it turned out. then, uh oh. how to get it home. I had forgotten my phone. the piece was heavy. the nice Jen went above and beyond, helping us go through the back door to Stevenson street where a lyft could pick us up. we paid her the money for the ride, and she packed us and the piece in the car and off we went. very happy with it. ps. they have 50% off sales every 6 weeks i think it is. check. read more

Jenn and Cody were absolutely wonderful. they took care of putting my canvas on stretcher bars in way less time than expected. Wow!!!! they called me to make suggestions also on some sizing adjustments to ensure my artwork was the most presentable. Thank you! read more

Knew exactly what I needed, called in the order and paid via CC, excellent curbside/back alley service. Just gotta be aware of your surroundings as the neighborhood is what it is. Phone service was excellent, and was surprised they actually had enough of exactly what I needed. I can say I'll be back when the time comes. read more

I'll start with this: The prices were reasonable! I don't know why, but I love these kinds of stores! They have everything an artist requires. I always walk out with a little extra than I had anticipated. I also noticed that they have a frame shop in the back (and something else, but I did not look hard enough) for all your pictures/ paintings. The staff looks younger and may not have all the answers, but I would not give them a hard time since I can find a lot of answers online. Going back to the prices, if I have to pay a dollar more than their online competitors, that is fine with me especially if I need the item now. read more

The selection is absolutely WILD for a store in the smack dab middle of the city, I was not expecting to have enough supplies to peruse for hours. The service was also excellent - I was buying paint supplies for a corporate event and the staff was beyond helpful in finding the most affordable supplies for my use case. And would highly recommend becoming a member, online price matches apply automatically at check out and I saved $15! read more

This store is incredible with top-notch customer service. It's organized and has the biggest selection of art supplies I've ever seen. We need brick and mortar places like this in our communities. Please consider supporting Blick. read more

This place is basically sacrilege to all things "art". The most egregious being to the creative process and the artists themselves . Whenever I come here, I know full well even Amazon is going to be 1/3 the price but if I need a product right away, I like to make full use of the trip. Browsing the aisles of an art supply store can be inspiring and relaxing- UNLESS YOU'RE HERE. You will be treated like a criminal as you have 6 employees up your ass constantly. If I've never shoplifted and have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars here, I should not be treated this way. This is really idiotic on their part because I was about to spend over $100 until I finally had enough. Most artists cruising through the aisles become inspired by the supplies they see- something not as easily done shopping online. The employees here know less about the products here than they know how to creep on a reoccurring local, paying customer.** Perhaps that is something they ought to spend time reflecting on. I will not be spending any more of my money here and I recommend other customers go elsewhere. This place was way better when it was Pearl. Like most things in SF, this place has gone to absolute shit! read more

Shoutout to Mukhtar for the A1 customer service. I came in an hour before closing to look for embroidery thread to patch a tear on my favorite sneakers. I intentionally wore these sneakers to help me color match - I thought I would be in & out of the store quickly but nope, I didn't anticipate my eyes to play mind tricks on me lol. Mukhtar noticed me struggling and didn't hesitate to help me choose the best thread since he said "has a good eye for color." Coincidentally he was also the guy to ring me up at the register - very welcoming and easy going fella. I just finished patching the tear on my sneaker and it blended with the rest of the shoe pretty nicely, so I can confirm that he has some skill with color matching! read more

Store is stocked they have everything you need but the customer service is poor. They profile you based on your looks & your race as if only white people who are dressed to their standards need art supplies. This has Happened to me in several Blicks I feel like they must train their employees to profile people unless it's just a coincidence that every blick I go into they treat me exactly the same. read more

I have ordered from Blick online so was ever so curious to see what was in their store. OMG! It's absolutely huge with just about every imaginable art supply, tool, and resource you might think of. I was waiting until they would open up at 10am. There was NOBODY in the store, and yet, without a (friendly) hello, they would not allow me to enter the store with my scooter. A place for artists of all age groups! I don't understand a single thing about color contour and the different shades of a color, but I can see that lots of young artists flock here for Blick's abundance of art supplies. Note: If you purchase at least $25 of art supplies, your first hour of parking is free! Check their website for the 3 different parking structures. If you have the leisure, definitely look online before coming here (to figure out what you want). I know that some people say buying online is cheaper than in store, but it never hurts to see things in person, right? read more

Excellent service by Rose and Melvin. Great prices and awesome quality for all the framing job we got done here. Highly recommend.

the associate refused to give me eye contact or listen to me. the male associate continued to ignore me even after i asked him for help, he thought it was the women behind asking him for help and said "you said what" he treated me like i was invisible in the store while he tried to flirt with women in the store. disgusting behavior. the prices in this store is jacked up twice as much than the online store, you're better off buying online. read more

First of all.. Bethany is amazing! Please make sure to give her a promotion for all her hard work! I have a picture in a beautiful frame hanging on my wall. Today, I decided I was going to try and frame 2 more prints of mine with the same frame as my first print. I called Blicks and they said they do custom framing but would need to confirm they have the exact design. I could take pictures or bring in frame. Since Blinks was only a 10-minute walk from my house I said I could bring the print in the frame and the two other prints I want to be framed. When I arrived Bethany immediately let me know that they didn't have the exact frame, but she still took the next 15 minutes trying to find a frame that matched. I think she could tell I wasn't completely happy, so she turned over the frame to show that the original was created at Michaels. Since the original frame is 4 years old, she suggested I call Michaels to see if they still carry the frame before heading down to Coma--Which is 12 miles from me. I called Michaels, explained the situation and the woman on the other end tried to pull up my account. It didn't show up. I explained I got the frame over 4 years ago from a different state. Because I didn't remember where I got the frame, she couldn't pull up my previous order and the only other option was to come into the store. I explained to her that Michaels was over 10 miles away, and I didn't feel comfortable getting in an uber and coming to her if they weren't sure they sold the frame. I should mention, at this time, Bethany is searching on the Michael's site to see if she found anything similar. The woman from Michaels responded, there was nothing she could do. I asked if I could send a picture of the frame just to see if they have something. Her response was no. At that point, I was through, she was rude and unhelpful, so I responded.. "Your customer service is awful. I am here at Blick with a woman who is trying to get you, a competitor, my business. If you would have tried harder, I would have gladly spent my money with you, but I will stay with Blink and buy a different frame. Thanks. Bye." Bethany then apologies for the woman's behavior! Even if I was going to spend my money at another store! I ended up buying the frames from Bethany at Blink. and I was willing to spend a lot of money since it is a limited-edition print. I am glad someone helpful got the money. Michael's framing department was a fail and in all honestly I will probably go back and replace the original frame I have from Michael's with one from Blick. Customer service is important. I understand we are in a pandemic, and everyone is going through their own issues, but I told the Michael's representative I was nervous to get in a cab, and drive 10 miles just to be told the frame is discontinued. Be better Michaels. Thank you Bethany and Blink! read more
