I had my wedding dress altered by Fragile Fit (Darcy) in 2023. What a huge mistake! I was charged $940 for hemming the bottom, adding sleeves, taking in the back of the dress, and adding bra cups. Every single thing was done poorly. -All 3 layers of hem were so uneven. The layer of tulle was hacked by scissors. -The bra cups were sewn in upside down and Darcy recommended I get body tape to tape in my boobs (then what is the point of getting the dress altered to your body?!) -the back was suppose to be taken in but was left floppy -the top of the dress was cutting into my neck, so she cut it with scissors right in front of me, leaving a jagged neckline. -she said the dress was ironed, but it was full of wrinkles They had my dress for 3 months and didn't return it till 5 days before my wedding day. I went to a second seamstress (2 DAYS BEFORE MY WEDDING DAY) and she was shocked to see poor the quality of work! I had so much anxiety and panic as I wasn't sure if the dress would be presentable on my wedding day. On top of the sloppy work, every single time I was there, I felt like just a number. I was rushed to try the dress on and rushed out, while other brides were waiting. I reached out to Darcy, and she wouldn't give me a refund. She makes you sign a paper accepting her work with no refunds. Red flag! It took me me so long to write this review because it brings back so much anxiety for me. I don't even like looking at my wedding dress in photos anymore. If you are thinking of choosing Fragile Fit, DON'T! This is the first time that I have ever had such a poor experience with a business that I felt it was necessary to leave a review. I had my wedding dress altered by fragile fit alterations and the whole experience led to many sad tears. When I first brought my dress in, I felt a sense of uneasiness. It is difficult to explain what I mean but I think it was number of things including the amount of confidence that Darcy had when pinning my dress. It is good for a seamstress to be able to assure you with confidence that the work can be done, but they should also be realistic with the difficulty. I remember asking Darcy how difficult the work would be and she replied "for someone like me who has been doing this 30+ years it's easy, but you definitely wouldn't be able to do this." I wasn't asking her to tell me that she (as the seamstress) could do it better, I just trying to get an understanding of the work involved. The visit didn't feel very personal. It felt very much like I was just another girl with a dress that she was trying to collect money from and send me on my way. I also thought it was super strange how I had to pay the entire cost upfront on my first visit. I should have said something at this point but I don't like confrontation and I honestly wasn't sure if that's how it worked at other bridal alterations places. (I later found out that this is NOT typical.) As I was leaving my 1st visit, we scheduled a 2nd visit. I remember asking, "do I need to schedule a 3rd visit?" And Darcy pretty much said "we will see." (I later found out when going to another seamstress that my dress needed to be altered in stages so it was also a red flag that only 1 appointment was setup to pretty much see if my dress was good enough to go. When I came back for my 2nd visit (over a month and a half later), I tried on my dress and remember feeling like the bodice area had barely been taken in. However, I was not vocal about this like I should have been. Instead, I thought in my head "well maybe it isn't that bad." I didn't have anyone with me, and I didn't speak up about this concern like I should have. I ended up taking my dress home that day. Before I left, Darcy made me sign a form saying something along the lines of "I am happy with my dress and I understand that if I change my mind I might be responsible for additional costs." This is definitely where I should have spoken up and said that the bodice needed to come in more, but I truly didn't know how bad it was until I tried walking around in it and when I went to a second seamstress. I also felt nervous and signed the form. I ended up trying the dress on at home the next day and walked around my house a little bit and the realized that there was NO WAY the dress was going to work in the state it was in. It is a strapless dress and was falling down completely. I panicked at this point knowing that I had signed that form at fragile fit. I had already paid fragile fit ~$700 and I wasn't sure now what the additional costs would be since I signed that form. I also felt nervous to go back because I thought in my head "surely a professional seamstress should have known the dress was still too big." While it definitely was my responsibility to say something, I think as a seamstress they should have a pretty good idea what work needs to be done without the person having to tell them (especially if it is as obvious as a dress falling down) I ended up calling the number for fragile fit, but like usual, they didn't answer and they specifically say with the voicemail, "do NOT to leave a message." I ended up texting the fragile fit number and emailing Darcy that I needed more work on the dress. She responded a couple hours later saying "let's get you back in." However, it wasn't until the next day that she gave me a date and time off when to come back. By this time, I had already reached out to second seamstress and went in for a 2nd opinion. (This was because my wedding was a month away and I was getting nervous about the timing.) The 2nd seamstress told me how she thought maybe I was exaggerating on the phone about the work that still needed to be done, but she understood when she saw the dress on me in person and said "I can't believe the previous seamstress let you leave like this." She also pointed out other details about the dress that were done portly such as a "bubble" that formed when the lace was restitched to hem and how the tule wasn't evenly cut. She measured how much still needed to be taken it in the bodice and it was almost 4 inches! (~ 2 on each side of the zipper as you can see in the picture). Darcy did my alterations for my wedding dress in June. I was only able to pick it up three days before my wedding day because of my schedule. I scheduled my appointment time frame between 6-7:30 pm for flexibility after work. She emailed me back asking for a more specific time because I was the only client she had that day. Understanding so, I scheduled the appointment at 6:45 pm to pick up my dress. My bridesmaids got there first at 6:45 pm and I was stuck in traffic so I was scheduled to get there 8 minutes later. I was on the phone with one of my bridesmaids when I heard Darcy say over the phone that she's eating dinner at the moment and can't allow me to come in when I arrived because the store was closed. This was all said in a rude manner to my cousin (bridesmaid) all of which I could hear over the phone. In addition, a few weeks before, she told me that she was closed at 8 pm when I scheduled to pick up the dress on the final day. When I called to confirm she then stated that she closed at 7:30 pm so I couldn't make it the first time. Now with this scheduled pick up, it was set for 6:45 pm and then she told us that she was closed so I couldn't come in. My bridesmaids had my dress laid out in their car when I arrived. Online it says that she closes at 8 pm on the weekdays the store is open. I understand that being late was not ideal and I take accountability for that but if I got there on time, I wouldn't even have had time to try on my dress if she closed that early at 6:45 pm. I had to try it on at home hoping that it fit well. I noticed that the straps of my dress were still loose. They were not adjusted to my body even after two fittings. It was extremely unprofessional as a business owner to speak to customers in the manner she did and to change closing times when Google says something else. read more

Darcy was absolutely amazing! My dress was a two piece set and she hemmed the skirt perfected. The bodice of my dress has some extra fabric down the middle which made it difficult to alter. TLDR: BRIDES, RUN FAR AWAY. AS FAR AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN. I've had this review drafted but put off posting it for 2 years, hoping time would give me perspective. I hate posting 1 star reviews. Unfortunately, I still remember this nightmare vividly. I purchased my dress at a sample sale in March of 2021 at I Do Bridal in Greenwood. Darcy was their on-site alteration person, providing estimates and services. I ended up going with her because the estimate was reasonable and I didn't have the time or energy to visit a bunch of alteration shops. Darcy took my dress back with her, and we scheduled a fitting for June. By my first fitting, Darcy already had my dress for over 2 full months, and the only thing she did cut open the back and pin down straps. She did some measurements and sent me off. My second fitting had me really nervous. I should have taken my dress and walked out the door, but I was a grad student with a wedding budget. She cancelled my last fitting and finally rescheduled it to 3 days before my original wedding date. The dress was still pretty loose and the bust felt a bit weird/low, but with my bridal party hundreds of miles away, I took Darcy's and her assistant's word that this was how the dress was supposed to fit. (brides-to-be: never go to fittings alone!) I tried to remain optimistic and took it home. When I had my photo, hair, and makeup trial the next day, my photographer and HMUA were appalled by the state of dress and strongly advised me to find someone else to fix it. They needed to pin it in the back for my trials, and it was over 2" too big around the bust and waist (see photo). I'm not sure why I bothered reaching out to Darcy with the photo and expressing my concern. She explained it was complicated dress. I agree it was a complex dress, but that doesn't mean I was fine with paying her to do a shoddy job. Darcy offered to fix it, but she had already had my dress for over 3 months at this point. What more could she possibly do and why wasn't it done before? That was a hard pass. I was ready to trash the dress and wear my engagement photo dress, but luckily I found someone in downtown Seattle who could salvage the dress in the short timeframe. It turns out it was in even worse shape than I thought. The dress was large and kept falling, the hems were unfinished, layers were short and uneven (requiring me to buy new wedding shoes with lower heels), and the buttons in the back were completely crooked. I'm glad my wedding was pushed a little (for unrelated reasons) and that I hadn't mentioned it to Darcy. I would've been a complete wreck if I had to deal with this 3 days before my wedding. read more

You make your appointment, try on the dress, and then come back a few weeks later to pickup (each of my appointments was only ~15 min). Darcy did a great job on my dress, and her craftsmanship is not a question at all. Her prices are also the best you'll find. The owner and her helpers were lovely people - the only comment would be that for those like me (who always arrive early) the door was always locked and I never saw someone inside until the exact time of my appointment. I am so grateful for this talented seamstress! I have scoliosis and I was so worried that my dress wouldn't be able to be altered to fit me well. She did a flawless job and made me feel so comfortable and at ease. She did the alterations for my mom, flower girl and both bridesmaids too and fit us in the schedule quickly when my bridesmaids hadn't planned ahead. The train of my dress was really long and I debated on cutting it shorter but she showed me an amazing bustle (sp?) option that looked great and I danced the night away no problem. We were referred to FF by the bridal salon and with all the pandemic issues we were thrilled to have someone available. I read the reviews and so was cautious. I should have been more careful, and checked their work. They bustled the gown in the wrong manner - we had requested under bustling but she did it over the gown, which hid all the detailing in the back. And once we put the gown on the bride, there were bustle loops we could have used had they been placed right after the hem was shortened. And hours before the ceremony when the bride stepped in the gown we discovered one whole layer - the most important one that had the horsehair hem - still had the pins in it but hadn't been sewed. There was no way to fix it. We had to remove the pins - they were extra long - or the bride would have been stabbed. But it made the layer too long, it dragged on the ground and got torn when people stepped on it. A $5,000 gown and one whole piece is ruined. read more

Fragile Fit has done my wedding dress and several bridesmaid dresses for me. Darcy is super friendly and very good at what she does!

Darcy is a tailoring magician. Not only did she tailor my wedding dress perfectly to fit like an absolute glove, she was incredibly efficient and even had the perfect jewelry to match my dress at her shop. I have a complicated dress with lots of beading and lace, but when I went for my final fitting I was so impressed with her work. She had taken in quite a bit and still made my dress look like it was custom made for me! 100% recommend Darcy for all your future tailoring needs, especially if you're someone that likes to get in and out fast. All other tailors I've been to usually requires some wait time, but with Darcy she gets you in right away, pins you quick, gives you time to make final adjustments and you're out the door. The final product will blow you away! read more

TLDR - Darcy and Fragile fit are probably fine if you want something to "fit you better" or if you need anything added to your dress. She is very kind, personable, and I'm sure she knows what she's doing. However, I will not be returning and I could not recommend her if you have a specific look in mind or have ANY sort of time crunch at all. My negative dress experience starts at The Dress Theory where I purchased my dress. Their in house alterations specialist was booked, and they recommended 4 other alterations specialists, including Fragile Fit. The Sarah Seven sample dress I tried on was a size 8. It was a bit snug. But zipped up with ease. The stylist calculated my measurements and said I should order a size 14, however, since it was mainly my thighs bringing up the size, she recommended I order a 12. This still sounded so huge considering I fit in the 8, but she convinced me a 12 was best. When I finally got to pick the dress up, I tried it on in studio before I left and it was ENORMOUS on me. They then directed me to their specific list of recommended alterations specialist, which is how I came to find Darcy and Fragile Fit. I brought in the VIDEO and numerous pictures of me in the sample dress and explained that the proportions in the size 12 I was bringing in were HUGE and I wanted the dress to look similar to how the sample size looked. I was very specific about wanting the chest taken in and how I really wanted the upper half of the dress to look just like my photos and video. She looked at them, then proceeded to pin me, etc. Months later, I come in for my first fitting - its still large, we discuss the additions I want put on my dress and while I still CRY every time I put the dress on, and express numerous times to Darcy about how it makes me feel terrible now since it looks so big on me. Darcy explains it will look better after my it's tailored. I am hesitant, I cry some more, but I am not the expert here - who am I to say she's wrong? Now, it's 1 month before my wedding and I have my final fitting. The night before, I get a text from Darcy that there is a family emergency and we must reschedule. To which I reply this is fine, please reach out to me when you are able to see me again... 2 weeks go by and radio silence. I text her, no response, so I give a call and they say they are booked but can get me in 10 days before my elopement (thanks covid). While this lack of professionalism puts me off a little, I understand that this is Covid, times are crazy and she must be busy. I go to the shop, try on my dress, it looks NOTHING like what I requested. At this point, it's too late because I need my dress in 7 days - which could have been avoided if my second fitting was pushed out a month. I have to pick up my dress in 1 week. I cry on my 45 minute drive home. Yes, the dress "fit". The buttons and tulle she added was beautiful. However, after $800 in alterations, I was left miserable, with no time to do anything. Even though I was 8lbs lighter when the dress was done, I look WAY heavier and the dress is FAR less flattering than the sample size. So, I am buying a second dress for my larger wedding and will not return. I have included photos of me in the sample dress (screenshots from a video of me walking out in it - the SAME VIDEO I showed Darcy) and of me at my actual elopement where I am actually 8 lbs LIGHTER, and an inch SMALLER in the waist than in the sample dress. read more

The experience with Darcy at Fragile Fit has been nothing short of exceptional. She did the alterations for both my ceremony dress and what was supposed to be my reception dress. The ceremony dress was too big in all the wrong places and was supposed to be a fit and flare but ended up not looking like a fit an flare at all when it came from the designer. Thank god for Darcy and her skills, she turned my fit and flare into a real fit and flare looking dress. My ceremony dress had a ton of detail from beading to stitching and I was worried about it not looking like it originally had, but when I tried it on, it looked perfect! Her 20 + of experience really shows and I would recommend family, friends , anyone who wants exceptional work. The appointments were always so pleasant and I felt so safe and comfortable considering the covid situation. I just want to mention that for the reception dress she also added a small belt around the waist and straps that were matching rhinestones. She also removed the train from the reception dress and it looked beautiful, might come back and have it hemmed even shorter for a later look I can use for another occasion! Now let's talk price , I had originally got a quote from another seamstress, of over 1,600$ and I left that place hopeless. I did not want to pay more than the dress was even worth. If your a bride please don't use this seamstress the amount of stress she has created for me is despicable, she had my dress for one month. I asked her to take the sides in and hem the bottom, see my hips in the photo..... this is a horrible seam job, I now have to take my dress to a different seamstress to have it fixed, she tried pushing my appointment out another week and I refused and told her I would come and pick it up, I believe my dress wasn't done and she just quickly Stitched it back together. Even the sides are messed up one side is higher then the other and the dress is not the same. I spent the morning crying because I wasn't sure if it was fixable but after speaking to a different seamstress she is able to fix Darcy's crappy job. I'm not sure if she just doesn't know how to deal with the type of dress or what but I am dumbfounded at her work. Also my friend used her for her wedding dress and she kept pushing out her appointments she didn't get to see her dress until one week before her wedding and by that time it was too late to make any changes. She rescheduled her 3 times. After speaking to my friend in regards to this business, Darcy texted me & tried rescheduling I said oh hell no your not going to do to me like you did my friend. I can not say enough positive things about Darcy! From the moment I stepped foot in her shop, I felt completely at ease and like I'd known her for years. She's so friendly and open. I went to Darcy for alterations on my wedding dress (taking in, adding bustles - top and under). She also took a seperate jacket and lined and beaded it so it would match my dress. Both turned out beautifully and fit like a glove. I found her prices extremely reasonable for the high quality work that she produces. This lady has some SERIOUS skills! Darcy and her assistant were truly wonderful! After a week of researching alterations, and fretting about finding a great seamstress, I decided on Fragile Fit. So glad I did! It's a tiny shop located in her home (which was easy to find), and its very cozy, cute and has a LOT of fun sparkly accoutrements for brides (I ended up purchasing my fascinators and a fun garter from Darcy). I arrived early, but don't do this- her shop is made for one bride (and maybe one friend) at a time, and you have to wait in your car until your allotted appointment time due to limited space. My advice is don't try and show up early, just be right on time :) She put me immediately at ease, and like another reviewer said, was very quick. No measurements, but she didn't need them- she deftly pinned up a beautiful bustle and took in the bodice in about 8 minutes. She was personable and we laughed and joked about Vegas (where our wedding took place), and was just a cool lady. She gave me a little time to check out her pinnings, I gave the okay, then I got dressed and was out the door! My dress was ready within 2 weeks, which was great because we had a destination wedding and needed it in a certain time frame. When I arrived for the final fitting, it fit PERFECTLY. Couldn't have been more pleased. The bustle hooks were expertly hidden in the lace, and she took care to make sure the lace detail on the train still showed even when it was bustled. The bustle held up well (we were in Vegas, and it journeyed with me bustled up in all the limo rides, casino walks, etc. after the wedding was done). The chest looked perfect after she took it in about two inches. The pricing was VERY reasonable, and I felt I got what I paid for. I highly recommend that any bride who is concerned about finding someone great for your alterations contact Darcy- I think you'll be very happy with the results :) read more

I'm not sure if I could have had a better alterations experience anywhere else. Darcy is FANTASTIC. Her shop is small and run out of her home, but she is a pro. She suggested a few alterations to my dress - one included not wearing a corset under my gown and sewing in cups to the bust for a better fit. It really made a difference and made my gown fit perfectly, like a glove! I also brought her belt and she recommended sewing it on and did such an amazing job that it looked like it was made with the dress. Darcy is extremely friendly and makes you feel wonderful. Her shop is well stocked with all kinds of accessories that I hadn't seen anywhere else. Although I had already purchased all of mine, my sister and Mom both had their dresses altered here as well and purchased jewelry to wear. Again, she did a phenomenal job on both.
