I had the chance to try on a bunch of dresses at Samila, and I had found a dress I LOVED at Samila, but wanted to make sure I looked at options at other stores. Shea was absolutely great. She set a next-day follow-up to see how my other appointments went, and to let me re-try on the dress that I loved. When I went to Elizabeth for a quote, I was instantly at ease with her incredible focus on the customer and her friendly, realness. Well over that 20-year time period I can probably count on one hand how many times I walked out of there with something worthwhile. For one thing the store is always in a fair amount of disarray. The racks are overcrowded. Too many items where they just have one or two things and it's really hard to find what you want in your size. A lot of stuff on the floor and if you do find something you love you have to wonder if it was stepped on or rolled over by a cart at some point. The prices probably are more reasonable if you do find something but you really got to dig. The thing that really burns my hide is the line. It's been long often in the past but it could be worthwhile if you found something. This most recent time I went the line was ridiculous. I would guess there was 35 or 40 people in line and three cashiers. The people were lined up all the way to the dressing room. I expect this if I go in Ross or the Goodwill. Not Nordstrom rack. Never again. But I want to give credit where credit is due, the cashiers despite the crushing workload where personable and did not display any stress despite the obvious frustration of everyone staring at them doing their job. When I contacted the shop, they showed zero sympathy for how important the evening was and offered no apology or compensation whatsoever. They insisted that if the zipper was going to fail, it would have done so in the store -- "never" outside of it. Their solution was to fix the zipper the following day, which was completely unacceptable since the dress was needed that night. To make matters worse, they wanted me to drive over an hour to University Village at 3:30 PM on a Saturday afternoon with my daughter stuck in the broken dress so they could "inspect" the zipper. My daughter was part of a group of 11 seniors headed to professional pictures, dinner, and the prom--time was extremely limited. This lack of understanding and flexibility made a very stressful situation even worse. When I expressed my desire for a refund, I was told it was outside their 30-day window and no refund or exchange would be offered. When we purchased the dress, we were told we had to buy it immediately to have it in time for the dance--essentially protecting them from any responsibility, no matter the circumstances. Adding insult to injury, when my daughter tried contacting the woman for help to get out of the dress, her calls went unanswered and were never returned. We were also wrongly accused of zipping the dress incorrectly and misaligning the zipper teeth. Anyone who has dealt with formal dresses knows it takes more than one person to zip these dresses. None of the teeth were damaged, and the zipper was not misaligned -- my daughter was fully zipped into the dress before it failed. They clearly don't care about your special evening; the money is the only thing that matters. I cannot recommend this shop for formal dresses. There are shops that care far deeper than your pockets. This is not one of them!!!!
