our first visit was at 9 a.m. on a monsoon-like saturday and we were instantly cheered by the funky, purple decor and one of the best scents ever - frying donuts :) they're almost too pretty to eat! especially loved the black forest, blueberry hill, chocolate-covered cherry, lemonade (favorite!), caramel bliss, and strawberry shortcake. we had breakfast and then got a box to go for dessert, later. delicious, cozy, fun. they have the cutest shirts for sale too. read more

Insanely tasty donuts that are made fresh with each order and hot dipped. Best when they're hot and a dizzying assortment of toppings & dips. And a really friendly, down to earth staff. One caveat - it's all the same donut. The variety comes from the toppings so if you're looking for a jelly-filled/chocolate/crueller type thing, it's probably not your place. But then again, it might be after trying one. ;) read more

The Fractured Prune is a donut shop that is very popular in Ocean City, MD and Bethany & Rehoboth Beaches in Delaware. The donuts are made fresh everyday and are served warm. I think they have very delicious donuts and most of them are pretty amazing (especially the chocolate ones). Whenever I have had donuts from the Fractured Prune, it was always been someone ordering over the phone and then picking up the donuts and I had never actually been in the store. Today I finally did go into the Rehoboth location to get breakfast and I'm kinda disappointed. It's super crazy in there and the other customers will pretty much knock you over if you take too long to read the menu or order. I've never seen people get into such a frenzy over donuts. The donuts are good but not worth all the commotion inside the store. Also the people who work there aren't very friendly, especially if you aren't familiar with the store. I could tell that our cashier was pretty annoyed with us because we were taking too long to order (not really but she was clearly getting impatient anyway) because we couldn't decide what our 6th donut was going to be right away. Also she didn't explain to us that they give you a playing card instead of a number or taking your name for your order. I saw the playing card on the counter and I thought it had come out of the purse of the person I was with and I asked out loud if it was hers and we were both very confused and the cashier just stared at us and didn't say anything about it being our "order number". Of course we didn't realize that the "Queen of Hearts" order was for us right away and they had to read each donut out loud for us know that it was our order. I feel like it's really odd that the cashier didn't tell us this or tell us that we were supposed to hold onto the card when we were asking about it right in front of her? I guess she was already annoyed with us so it didn't matter. Overall, the donuts are worth it if you just get them to go but the strange and aggressive attitude of both the customers and the staff was very off-putting. read more

All the donuts are hot, fresh, and extremely good. You can't go wrong with the plain jane though.

First time I've gotten doughnuts from them. They were warm bundles of happiness. I got just plain for myself, but the kids got different flavors. Everything was just amazing. This will likely be a routine stop for us each time we're at the beach. read more

Overall, 3 stars, but some of the donuts were definitely 4 stars of more. We came in with four people, ordered a dozen, and ate them all. :-) My nits were that some donut glazes were a tad too sweet (perhaps cloyingly so if consumed in the entirety), and once the donut cools down, it becomes more average. That said, they're going to be piping hot if you eat them in the store. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area and want a solid, fresh donut. I'm not sure I'd travel far to get it, though. read more

Terrible breakfast sandwiches. Sausage was very low quality meat. Mediocre coffee bar, self serve. They won't give you a cup of water. You must buy a bottle, then will charge you a 40 cent surcharge if using a credit card. Not the friendliest staff. Kind of place you leave very unimpressed and disappointed. In all honesty, the donuts looked amazing and we're selling fast. After the lack luster sandwich and no water to wash it down we weren't up to trying the donuts. read more

Our first stop on a Saturday morning. Place is fun inside with the strange but fun decorations. Owners are extremely nice and friendly. Donuts are fresh, hot and excellent. Variety is amazing. Not for me. Hot fried donuts with toppings melted on the top. Yuch!!! Went after reading review in Washingtonian. Will never trust Washingtonian Magazine again. We bought a dozen, ate pieces for 6 and took the rest home. On the way home we all agreed. Worst in class. We stopped at a pull off and threw the remaining donuts in the trash can. Great Donuts. A little pricey IMO for a donut, specialty or not. Not a fan of the service we received. Nothing terribly bad, just an attitude from the cashier! Also not much room to move around and wait 15 minutes for your donuts. read more

Donuts are meh, doesn't appear clean but the real downer for us was the older man & woman running the place. The young kids working there were fine & pleasant for the most part, but those two were plain miserable, spoke rudely to customers and yelled obnoxiously. Love love love!! These donuts are fantastic, especially when still warm. The atmosphere is fun and a trip to the prune is a MUST every time we come to the beach. We make the trip from Bethany to Rehobeth just for these donuts. The kids love all the colorful combinations but my favorites are the OC Sand, French Toast, Lemonade and the Trail Mix. read more

10:30am. Doughnuts are decent. Great process. However, who I can only assume are the owners (grey haired man and older slender women) are incredibly rude to the customers and no staff would address a customer like that. Obviously a successful business and it would appear the success has gone to their head. Remember your customers got you to where you are. If you're burnt out, sell your successful business to someone who will appreciate the customer. read more

"It's like a chocolate chip pancake and donut had a baby." This was what my son said as he bit into his delicious donut. I should preface this review by stating I'm not a big fan if donuts. There was an unfortunate pop-em incident in the 80's binge that turned ugly bad. I've tried hot fresh Krispy kremes and various other bites, but after 35 years, still not a fan. We ordered 12. Sprinkled - good, apple pie- incredible- 1st place, o.c. Sand- awesome- a solid second , plain glazed-awesome, peppermint patty, Oreo, Reese's, French toast, and blueberry hill - all fantastic. Biting into these donuts is like seeing heaven. Like cloud pillows, they dissolve instantly. They're not heavy or greasy. I ate almost 3 (no shame) and had no vomity feeling regrets.Line moved quickly, organized, great customer service and clean bathrooms. My boys each bought a t-shirt, and the employee was so kind and helpful, I was blown away. Thank you fractured prune, I am fan! read more

Awesome donuts. Amazing how every order is custom made and even if there is a long line, it moves fast as they have a great system. With all the glaze and topping selections you can make pretty much make anything but we stuck to the menu which gave a lot of choices to pick from. French toast donut was a hit as was Rolo and Bacon Blast. read more

You have not lived until you've had a freshly made donut from the Fractured Prune. Seriously, it's that good. Worth every fat gram and calorie. They make the donuts right in front of you and they are dipped in the coatings right there. They're still hot when you get them. All kinds of flavors, from mocha and chocolate covered cherry to glazed with sprinkles - good flavors, not weird foodie flavors. Amazing. One of my go to places everytime we come to the beach, we stop when we get there and stop there on our way home. The service is fast and the donuts are the best I've ever had. They are hot and fresh with so many different glazes and toppings to choose from. Parking has never been a problem, but I will say get there early b/c they close around 3. read more

Fantastic donuts! This place is a must go-to for breakfast while you are in rehoboth. It is an amazing place and I highly recommend.

We were down for a long beach weekend and decided to check this place out, and man am I glad we did. We ended up going back the next day too! Donuts are made hot and fresh, and fast! Coffee is excellent too. You can get an infinite number of combinations, but the salted caramel one was probably the best donut I've ever had. Donuts were tasty but the human experience outweighed the donuts. Gent in front of me got 6 more than he asked for by mistake... And was charged for the extra 6. The manager started in on the young lady offender who got his order wrong right in front of me. Really? Then after my order was taken and I handed the young lady my credit card I was told that there was a $0.40 surcharge for orders under $10. Are you kidding me??? Where's the sign for that??? Why wasn't I told that when I stated originally that I only wanted 6 donuts???? Not going back... I don't care how tasty your donuts are if you can't do the human aspect right... I really wish I could give the Fractured Prune in Rehoboth Beach a negative 10 stars. This place is below a zero. I went in yesterday and they had boxes being prepared to hold donuts scattered across the floor. The manager or owner (a woman) looked extremely unkept. If the health department went in there, it would be shutdown immediately. This place and some of the folks working/socializing (behind the counter) are just filthy and unkept. I recommend you go to the Millville location, which is down from Bethany Beach if you want Fractured Prune donuts. read more

Honesty, didn't live up to the hype. We were expecting a delicious, mouthwatering experience. Instead we were greeted by less than patient or helpful service. There were only two other customers ordering so there wasn't a line or reason to be short and rude. Our donuts were so hot everything melted off of them so we were left with a puddle of chocolate and blueberry sauce (put rolo and blueberry hill in same box). And sticky messy inedible donuts. We are duck donut lovers and much prefer them even though duck has less flavor options. We won't be back. read more
