They carry something for the whole family, even the dogs! Highly recommend stopping in before your next adventure or just to browse around. They have many weekly and monthly events for the community. They host film fests and special annual events like a chili cook off, 5 points adventure film fest, a gear swap and so much more!

They sell both new and used outdoor equipment, as well as maintain a calendar of various community events that people can and should take advantage of. On their website the group talks about being particularly focused on helping Pittsburgh climbers, hikers, bikers, runners, campers, paddlers, and "outdoor adventure lovers." Obviously that last bit is pretty general, but I find the statement helpful overall since it does a great job of summarizing what kinds of gear you'll find at their shop. No matter your experience level, you're welcome here, as the staff want to help people of all experience levels explore and access different outdoor activities. In other words: this is the perfect place to browse and ask questions that can help you best prepare for your next/new adventure. In addition to operating a storefront, the 3 Rivers staff also regularly coordinate outdoor events and activities that people can sign up for. Naturally some activities are more seasonal than others (looking at you, kayaking!). Others happen year-round, including monthly night hikes in Frick Park. It's a shame this shop is currently so far out of my way, because if I was closer I'd probably stop in more often, even if only to take advantage of their community fireside hours. Still, it's great that they're here in the city at all - and it just makes my rare visits that much more delightful and special!

Stewart helped me right away and was very patient with me as I tried on probably 20 pairs of shoes to find a unicorn. i found out I was wearing completely the wrong shoe for my stride. It was great to talk to someone who also is passionate about running. Hooked me up with a pair of Hokas, which I had never tried personally. The difference with the stability has been night and day. I've taken a minute off each mile with the change of shoe and inserts suggested. I will be back to run some of the Thursday night park runs. 10/10 experience.

The staff helped find the appropriate sized bike for our older child who had outgrown his prior bike--and let us know the model he picked was on sale as well! Woot woot! Of course the younger child fell in love with a PINK bike (with the PINK tax--not on sale, and no she didn't want the color that was on sale) and had to have it. So we ended up getting 2 bikes instead of one. As per usual, these folks were super professional and Helpful. You know how some sales folks try to upsell stuff? None of that here. They asked what we needed and helped us find it. Road bike? Trail bike? Kiddie bike? PINK bike? They helped us get the correct sizes and from other locations if needed. In the interim, between purchases, we had a kick stand issue, which they easily fixed. My bike fell off the carrier and was dragged while the car was in motion-so we took it in for repair. Assorted other minor issues. Any issues that came up soon after purchase were taken care of for free. Other issues were taken care of at a reasonable price. Quality products which have longevity. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Zero sales pressure-the equipment sells itself. Highly Recommend

I also dealt with Katharine & Alicia, they were also very friendly, patient, & helpful. I ordered my bike in the beginning of October 2022 & it was delivered at the end of January 2023. Aaron helped me a lot during those 3 plus months with answering my questions, concerns, & special requests. I live 3 plus hours north of Pittsburgh & I was worried about picking up my bike at the end of January Because I live in the snow belt area at this time of year it isn't the ideal time to be traveling with a bicycle on a rack on the back of my suv. I was worried about doing damage to my new bike with snow, ice, salt, etc. Aaron said he would store my bike still in the box until I was ready to pick it up. I really appreciate that he would do that for me, seeing that it could be weeks or months until the weather got better to pick it up. When I was able to finally pick up my bike, Aaron & his staff quickly put my bike together. The day I picked up my bike Aaron spent hours with me going over the features of the bike, setting it up with my personal preferences, test riding it to my sure it was adjusted right for me & helping me with buying accessories for it. Not once did I feel pressured to buy extra stuff or if I was asking stupid questions or trying to push me out of the door after the purchase. Aaron reached out to me a couple of days later to see how I was doing and to let me know that if needed anything to let him know. Nice to know that I wasn't just a number to them and that I felt like I would be taking care of for years to come. I can't say enough good things about my experience at Kindred Cycles. I would highly recommend them for your next bicycle purchase or for repairs or services. Darryl Case

My teenage son recently visited the store on his own, excited to ask questions and learn more about motorcycles. Instead of being welcomed or supported, he was laughed at by the staff and told to "do his homework." This kind of dismissive, condescending behavior toward a young person is unacceptable. He left feeling embarrassed and discouraged, which is the opposite of how any potential rider or customer should feel walking into your business. What made the situation worse was how my concern was handled when I called to follow up. Rather than showing any understanding or accountability, the staff brushed it off, claiming my son had "taken it out of context." It felt like his age and inexperience were used as an excuse to ignore the issue entirely. The staff chose to deflect blame onto a teenager--further minimizing a valid concern. It's incredibly disappointing to see such a stark difference in treatment simply because he came in alone. Whether it was because of his age or something else, the message was clear: he wasn't taken seriously. That kind of attitude doesn't just hurt your reputation--it alienates the next generation of riders. We'll be taking our business elsewhere from now on, and I would caution other families to think twice before supporting a place that doesn't treat all customers--regardless of age--with basic respect. Do better!

Whether they outgrow them, tear them up on the field, or just straight-up lose them (yes, it's happened), we're constantly replacing sneakers, cleats, and slides. This place delivers. We've walked out with multiple pairs of Nikes for under $100 total. Not each--total. It's honestly the only way to keep up without draining our bank account. Pro tip: Keep an eye out for the sales racks and clearance events. We've scored name-brand shoes and gear for a fraction of what we'd pay anywhere else. And it's not just shoes--tons of athletic wear, backpacks, socks, you name it. It's hit or miss sometimes depending on inventory, but when you hit? It's gold. Bottom line: If you've got growing athletes at home and a budget that can't keep up with full-price gear every season, Going, Going, Gone! is 100% worth the stop.
