My husband has severe neuropathy in his feet due to permanent nerve damage from Lymes Disease. Early February, we visited the store and spent a significant amount of time choosing the best shoes for comfort and fit. The clerk that helped that day was 5*. My husband purchased two pairs of shoes for around $400. We went to Europe and did a lot of walking. My husband was so pleased with the one pair of shoes that he returned today to purchase the same pair in black. However the clerk with the goatee was exceptionally rude when he couldn't find a record of us being in the store or even purchasing anything. He was snappy and totally disrespectful. So we will be making future purchases online or elsewhere. We will not be back to Wagners. Very disappointing! read more

I've been having metatarsal problems with my right foot. The gentleman that helped me really knew his job! He was extremely helpful with choosing the right shoe, size, and insoles! A pair of Hoka's, and new insoles -- my foot pain was relieved immediately! I was so happy! He also helped me buy a pair of Oofos slides that I wanted. My feet are so happy! read more

I was able to return to this shoe store on my cookie tour. What caught my eye were these cute wool slipper with designs on them. As far as cookies go they are just serving your traditional sugar cookie here but their shoes are better quality and they carry orthotics. The lady who waited on me explained that the slipper I was looking at was really a clog style and it comes with a slight built in orthotic. The slipper designs included a cat, a dog, coffee, and an owl. I was debating between the cat and the owl design. For some reason the owl clog had more metatarsal support than the cat one. Also I must admit you actually get a male and female owl for each foot. The animal designs have only the front or the back on each side. They are still very cute. This company also makes wool clogs for outdoor use. The lady was able to measure me for orthotics and recorded my size. They use Aetrex orthotics. I was also impressed with the fact that the sell diabetic socks. Those will come in handy for a family member of mine who wears diabetic shoes. They carry the major lines since as Dansko, Merrill, Avalon, and Allegria to name a few. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I ended up purchasing the owl clogs to use for winter and I was grateful she let me try them on barefoot since wool bothers me. In this case they were fine. She did tell me they don't carry New Balance orthotics for sneakers but primarily dress orthotics or partial orthotics which you can use in shoes that you can't take out the insole. If you are looking for quality then this is the place to go! read more

If you were born and raised in Lawrenceville, all of your shoes were purchased from Wagners. Just visited my mother this past weekend and the customer service, and quality of shoes is still the best I have ever seen , even after living in Rochester New York for 29 years. I purchased 2 pairs of shoes while I was there, measured my foot, had a great selection, and most of al the customer service is amazing. Its the same as it was when Buzz worked there when I was a child, and brought my children there years later when his son took over running the store. Love this place and will be back again the next time I am back in Lawrenceville. All businesses should be run the way this place is. Last May, after getting diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, my podiatrist recommended that I go to a shoe store that sells New Balance shoes and to get the sturdy leather ones and New Balance orthotics. My husband, who had recently been to Wagner Shoes in Lawrenceville, only a short distance from our house, was very happy with their service and recommended them. Although they carried New Balance leather shoes, they did not have the orthotics. The sales clerk, a young man, not only measured my feet, but obviously knew what he was talking about. He was able to recommend the right shoes for my feet. Ok, they cost more than I expected, but they are good shoes and my feet certainly feel much better when I'm wearing them. Fast forward to December. The stitching in one of the seams came apart, so I returned to Wagner, thinking I've had these since May, and although the shoes shouldn't do that, I assumed I'd simply have to buy a new pair. My sales clerk this time was a woman who immediately said they would replace the old shoes with brand new ones and return them to New Balance. Very pleased with her response, I decided to buy a second pair in a different color. Although she was replacing them with the same size and style, she measured my feet again and tried both pairs on again. I went in wearing another pair of tennis shoes that I'd purchased in May, (not leather) but wore only a handful of times as they killed my feet. The clerk asked if I wanted to donate them to a local homeless shelter where they were going to be making a delivery of shoes this week. I was more than happy to do that! OK...full disclosure...my feet are a mess (a couple of broken bones, torn ligaments, etc. requiring special orthotics). Cherise (I honestly can't be sure that was her name) is a miracle worker! Lots of measuring, LOTS of trying different shoes...and two pair that are perfect. I even went back today to "fine tune" them with tongue inserts, etc. They could not be nicer, and I now know where to buy all my shoes (and I live six hours from here)! read more

I stopped in to Wagner's to find shoelaces for my fiance's boots. The man at the counter was extremely helpful - I had the boots with me, and he opened two sealed boxes of laces until he found the right length for these boots. I was flattered that he would take the time to put them on the boots himself and to open up otherwise perfectly sellable laces to find the best fit for me, only to charge me for the laces that I needed (which were very fairly priced). You won't find customer service at other shoe stores quite like this. On top of that, they have a huge selection of high quality shoes. I will definitely be back! read more

While pricy, I have found that it takes so many years to wear out a pair that they are a much better value than cheap shoes. I appreciate the patience, generosity, and expertise that the staff have all shown.
