I live in Allegheny County, which does not have a Boscov's, so this particular location in Beaver County is the closest to me. For at least a few years, I have shopped occasionally in this store. I would describe Boscov's as being between Macy's and JCPenney in quality. Products are often name-brand and designer and are often on sale for low prices. I always shop in multiple departments but focus mostly on the junior's and misses's sections of clothing, which are quite large and take much time to search through. During my most recent visit, I chose a thermal/waffle shirt that was on sale for only $7. I was standing in line at a cash register when an employee told me that I could go to her cash register a short walk away. I appreciated that she did not make me wait to be served. She correctly rang up my purchase and thanked me.

The Shoe Dept. I sometimes shop at The Shoe Dept. Encore to browse and to buy anything that interests me, but as expected, the selection of shoes is smaller and has higher prices than do many online stores. During my recent visit, I felt surprised that many shelves were completely empty. The shelves that were stocked were organized. I focused on the women's shoes. I found a pair of Skechers sneakers that I liked and that were on sale for $50. Some other styles were not priced as competitively. I wish that this store carried more of my preferred brands of shoes. I also think that employees could greet customers more.

But after finding the shoes I should have received, the owner said they wouldn't accept the return. Shoes never worn, receipt in hand. Said all sales were final, but nowhere on the receipt or in the store is there any indication you wouldn't be able to make a return or exchange. They should have admitted the mistake in giving me different shoes than what I paid for and did the exchange. By not doing the exchange it seems this was an intentional bait and switch. I browsed merchandise throughout the store, and I thought that the shelves and racks were well stocked. I had trouble with finding a particular kitchen product, and when I tried to pull it up on Target's website on my phone, I could not get reception for several minutes. No employees were nearby to assist with finding the product, so I gave up. I ended up deciding to purchase only wet foods for my cat. Their prices were typical. Many cash registers were open, but because it was Black Friday, the lines of costumers moved slowly. I ended up waiting and then using the self-checkout to pay. The bag dispenser had no bags, so I had to ask an employee for a bag.
