Great service and value! Family owned shop. I had three of my favorite pair of boots battle pgh winters with the heel worn down, complete with gaping holes - saw reviews for this store and came in to show the damage and thinking the sole would need to be completely replaced. The front desk woman said no need to resole, just a new heel ($20/pair, complete resole $30/pair). Her recommendation saved me $10 each. Service was 1 wk - not fast, but I had the time to wait; I'm sure they would see what they could do if you needed it sooner. Just picked them up, hell looks great, some traction to weather the winter, and they even cleaned up my mangy boots! Wow, I'm really pleased and would recommend this shop to anyone. Cash only, half down at drop off, balance at pick up. read more

This is an excellent, well-run repair shop that does exceptional quality work. Paying in cash is a small issue, and parking isn't always easy. But working with these guys is great--they're super knowledgable and they understand quality materials. Our family has used them for years for all different kinds of shoe and boot repairs. They're friendly, dependable, and fairly priced. read more

Great quality work at a fair price. The shop is clean, bright, and well organized with a large selection of shoe -care products. If they don't have it, they will see if they can get it for you. Many of my shoes are cordovan leather, which, of course, last for many years, but they need sole and heel replacement at times. I always get good dependable work comensurate with the quality of my shoes. This is a father and son owned shop and it is always a pleasure to deal with either one of them. Further, they are invested in the squirrel Hill neighborhood. Moreover, they always clean and polish the shoes, gratis, and return them in a plastic bag. This is not a cut rate shop, but their prices reflect quality of their work. I highly recommend Squirrelhill shoe repair without reservation. read more

CASH ONLY. Heel repair and 2 shoe shines. $60 total. Worth every penny. VERY satisfied with my experience. Will come back.

Did a good job adding vibram soles to my boots. I brought in my own vibram soles and the service charge was $50 for the installation. read more

Friendly, quality work for fair price. Repair services are not easy to find these days. In so happy this place exists!!

I took a pair of boots in for repair and they did an excellent job gluing the soles back on for $20 bucks. I highly recommend!

I purchased a pair of second hand boots online. They arrived with a gnarly scuff that wasn't disclosed, and I couldn't return them. Through a Yelp search, I found Squirrel Hill Shoe Repair and crossed my fingers. SQSR is open Tuesday through Saturday, and there is a public metered lot behind the building. Cash only and a small deposit is due at drop-off. A week and $15 later, I picked up my 'new to me' boots and they looked much better. The scuff is still visible, but they smoothed it out and polished the boots so the blemish isn't as noticeable. Knowledgeable staff, no-nonsense service, and reasonable prices to preserve your favorite kicks. read more

Excellent service and quality of the repairs made to my heeled booties. I was looking to actually buy new booties bc I haven't found a good shoe repair near me ... and then saw this place online and gave them a shot. I couldn't be happier with the results and recommend them highly. They are really fast too! Cash only but prices are reasonable. read more

I lived out west in Colorado for quite some time. I needed to get my cowboy boots re-heeled and re-soled and wasn't sure who I could trust to do the work here in PIT. WOW! This place does excellent work! Very fast. I originally took to yelp trying to find a good establishment who did good work on cowboy boots. The reviews of this place were spot on and really stood out. Because of the reviews other's left. I bought my boots here. I dropped off my two pairs of Men's Lucchese Cowboy Boots Friday. One pair was Caiman and the other, Black Leather. The boots were completely finished. Looked brand new. Re-soled, and re-heeled. Just like new and we're ready by 3P today (Saturday). It only took two days! Amazing! If your cowboy boots need some TLC. I highly recommend you bring them here! You won't be disappointed! read more

I had bought a pair of old leather pumps that were super cute; except that the heel tips were completely gone, maybe worn off completely maybe snapped off. It was hard to tell. I brought them into Squirrel Hill Shoe Repair to see if putting in new heel tips would be possible. The man working said it would be no problem at all... and that it would be only $10 and take two days. I was shocked at how inexpensive and quick they were! I came back two days later with my little ticket stub (make sure you keep it; it's how they locate the shoes) and paid my $10 (cash only - there are several banks within a few blocks if you need cash) and they handed them over. They look fantastic - I would never had been able to tell they were fixed up as apposed to new! I will definitely be coming back if any of my shoes need repaired! read more

I gave a pair of brown leather shoes I have owned and worn regularly for 4 years, they were beat up: it only took a couple days and $10 and they look brand new. I will definitely be back for any repairs and shoe shining! Its worth noting the store is cash only before you go. read more

I've used them a number of times to resole shoes and they've always done a great job at a great price. They've also repaired sandal straps, and the resulting repairs outlasted the rest of the shoes. read more

I've been bringing shoes here for several years, and they never fail to do amazing work for a fair price with a reasonable turnaround. In particular, they have revived multiple pairs of black Chelsea boots for me--each of them at least two or three times before I've had to retire them. I have to go out of my way to get here, and it's worth the extra effort. read more

Over the past year, I've taken several pairs of my partner's shoes here for various types of repairs--patching damaged heels, fixing sandal straps, and replacing soles. I recently had rubber soles (sole protectors) fitted to a new pair of Allen Edmonds dress shoes and they did a great job. Their work seems to always be of high quality. They take only a few days for most work and their prices are very fair. Cash only, but there are plenty of ATMs and banks on Murray if you don't have cash on hand. read more

My silly french bull dog got to a pair of dress shoes. He chewed the heel pretty badly and I was terribly sad. My mother suggested looking up a local shoe repair. I found this place! I went to this shoe repair shop thinking it would be as nice as everyone before spoke about. However that wasn't my experience, the staff was very cold and short with me upon drop off and pick up. Then the repair was poorly executed and when I showed the lady at the register she dismissed my concerns. She Simply stated that was the best that could be done. She charged me $15 for adding thick black paint to the heel, that was not smooth down and made even. This is not my first time having shoes repaired I go often because I really enjoy my items, so I like to keep them as long as possible. However I'm new to the area via Virginia Beach. I did some research before going to them and they had excellent reviews, so needless to say I was excited. And know I'm left feeling disappointed just wish I had the same encounter as others. read more

This place is great! Paid $25 (cash only) per pair of riding boots which included new heels, polish and shine. The real miracle was with one pair of black boots that were really beat up - the toe was really scratched up and torn. When I picked them up, they were pretty much good as new! Brought 2 pairs of badly beaten patent leather designer shoes for new soles. Too proud to walk in tennis shoes, my shoes really take a beating. The poor Vivier had a massive hole in the sole. I paid $35 per pair for new soles (this time going for rubber) and heels and they look quite new. Cash only. Quick turnaround too. In on Tuesday; ready for pickup on Thursday. read more

I am really impressed by this place! I took a pair of designer heels to be re-heeled, and they were ready to go in a few days. It cost $10, and the work is immaculate. My shoes looked shiny and new, and I have been wearing them for about a month, and they still look shiny and new! Highly recommend. Make sure to bring cash as they do not accept credit/debit cards. read more

One of my tall black boots needed a new heel, so I brought them in on a Saturday morning. Being the shoe repair novice, I honestly thought he just had to replace the one heel...but he had to replace both. Obviously. Good thing I brought the other shoe with me. He replaced the heels, cleaned up the salt stains, and had them ready for me the following Wednesday. Cost was $22, which was reasonable. I appreciated the quick turnaround. read more

If it weren't for Squirrel Hill Shoe Repair, I'd probably be broke right now. I like to own nice shoes but am a notoriously heavy walker, which means my shoes tend to have a very short life span. Whenever my soles start to wear down (which happens quite often!) I take my shoes in to get them re-soled, and voilà, good as new! Each pair costs $20, which includes a shining. Not bad at all for extending the life of my shoe by a couple months! They also have a quick turnaround. Last time they got my shoes back to me within 2 business days. So speedy! read more

My friends laugh at how often I talk about getting my leather boots cobbled, but I love doing it and I'll tell you this place is my new favorite! I have tried the place downtown which does a solid job but has a longer turn around, and have heard poor reviews about the place in bloomfeild. Look no further! This store provided great next day service for new heels on a pair of leather booties! Ran ~10 bucks, which is definitely worth it for extending the life of my boots a whole other season! ATM across the street makes cash only no problem, and hold onto your paper with the number they give you when you drop off your shoes. They use this to find your shoes for pick up, and even even if you think you'll be able to point out your black boots amongst the rest, you'd be very surprised :) read more

I brought my favorite pair of black ankle boots in for repair - they needed new heels, new soles, and some of the leather on the decorative buttons was coming off....basically I had worn them into the ground and they needed major TLC. I also brought in my Uggs, covered in salt stains that had been sitting on them for months. Fast forward one week later - shoes are stainless (it took 3 shampoos, the guy told me!), but still have sort of a hard texture on the outside (my fault, for not pretreating them). My leather boots have new heels and soles. The leather buttons were the only part not fixed to my total satisfaction - they removed the leather and attempted to paint the (now silver) buttons with black shoe polish so they'd match the rest of the shoe in color, but the paint/polish started chipping off immediately and you can see the silver peeking through on all the buttons. But perhaps that can't be helped - I'll try to paint those on my own and see what happens. $30 for both shoe repairs. The work was high quality, done in a week, and service was perfectly fine and friendly. Cash only. I'm so glad this place is nearby, because I like to buy nice shoes (actually, I HAVE to - my feet are so teeny, the only place I can find shoes that fit is Nordstrom's), and it is totally worth it to pay a few bucks to get them fixed once every year or two! Now they will last at least another season! read more

The service was good, quick, and reasonably priced. My concern has to do with whether I am dealing with a business that engages in tax evasion. My total was $35. I gave the guy at the cashier register $40. He gave me my change. I asked him where my receipt was and he handed me the tags he used to accept my items, not the output of the cashier machine (it hadn't ben produced). I showed skepticism and the guy insisted those were my receipts. Probably he thought I wanted some form of warranty on the job. I am open to revise my review if I am wrong, and I hope to be wrong, but this strikes me as tax evasion, which is a crime. The fact that they only accept cash strengthens my suspicions. I would be really surprised if people were to be OK with this business evading taxes. I hope someone (maybe the business itself) can explain why they only accept cash and don't give receipts if the point is not evading taxes. read more

I've been taking my shoes here for years and am uber satisfied with their work. They're great for dress shoes and boots, but holy $hit, their tennis shoe game is on point. I don't know how they do it, but if you take a pair of dirty old tenny's here, they will make them look like brand news. I've had all kinds of work done here in the 10 or so years I've been going here: conditioning, cleaning, resoling, heel repair; prices are good. My only gripes with this place are twofold: 1) they don't and probably will never take credit cards so you have to come prepared with cash. 2) their hours are fairly limited. Otherwise highly recommended. read more

I took my beautiful Italian leather boots to have the soles replaced. They came back with rubber soles crudely glued onto the other sole, which was still visibly cracked. I wear these boots almost every day. After a week or two I developed pain in my right foot. I figured that I'd done something to my foot, but no. I finally realized that the inside of the right shoe had a big crack that my foot was sinking into. My foot still hurts. They ruined another pair of expensive boots, and when I questioned the sloppy appearance, they said it was the best they could do. Terrible. read more

I had 2 pairs of boots and a pair of heels repaired here. Everything cost $40 (2x heels on boots, fixed the front of one pair of boots, and new clasps on the heels). I have no idea if that is a good price or not, but everything looks good. read more

Solid shoe repair business without anything fancy. Good for a resole on those boots you love. Shoe repair seems to be a lost art in these parts and many parts for that matter. Guess people buy cheap shoes and toss em when their done? A good pair of shoes fits like a glove (of the foot) so why not fix them? Anyway I am glad that this place is around. read more

Huge fan. I'm one of those helpers who only reviews when I've been really impressed and this is one of those instances. I'm coming back with some other pairs of my dress shoes to get then done. They just flat out do a great job read more

I took 3 pairs of boots (2 Frye, 1 other) here. They just gave me a ticket and I came back a week later, paid in cash, and now my boots are like new! My one pair of Fryes is 4 years old, the other brand new, but the soles on Frye boots are weird, like blocks of wood, and I think it was the best idea to re-sole them. The soles match the boots perfectly and they even cleaned up the old pair of boots after I told them not to. How nice! I came here after reading horrible amazon reviews of DIY stick-on soles. Do yourself and your boots a favor and go to SHSR :) read more

Got my Frye boots cobbled here, excellent and timely service. Very happy with the quality of the lug soles. In a day and age where services like shoe repair is now sadly almost non-existent this shoe repair store has remained for a reason; for their quality of service. Just remember, CASH ONLY!! read more

I am a long time customer and was always more than satisfied until Now!!! My brand new boots were not only destroyed, but I had horrible leg and hip pain as a result of what was done to the boots, actually 2 pairs!!! Basically, I asked to have lug soles put on bottom and instead of buying pre made ones, they attempted to make them buy cutting grooves into a solid thick sole on the wheel. The grooves are uneven, not straight and the metal was bent inside the boot and the boots are hopelessly ruined, they won't even stand up straight on a flat surface. Cutting corners for a job like that is unforgivable and I intend to tell everyone I know about what happened!! I still have pain . Shame on you, Mario!!!! read more

I added rubber soles to six pairs of heels. One was a pair of ankle boots that also had a broken zipper. They said zippers are the only thing they don't do, but the zipper was fixed when I got my shoes back. That was great and saved me an extra trip somewhere else. The only tiny issues were that the rubber soles added didn't match the soles of the shoes. They were black on most of the shoes, beige for the nude pair, and red for the shoes with red soles. I'm not sure if that is a reasonable issue. It's the bottom of a shoe. I was just expecting the shoes to all have beige rubber on them to match the beige soles like the one pair had red rubber on them to match the red soles. Other than that, the only bad thing was the price: $150...suppose that is normal for six pairs. I would definitely make the trek to take my shoes here again. Next time I will just request beige soles. read more
