    Millers' Prom and Formal Wear

My daughter and I have been waiting patiently for an opportunity to go prom dress shopping. It's…read morebeen hard to coordinate schedules as we live in Maryland but I have been here in Pa caring for my mom who was diagnosed with leukemia a couple of months ago. Finally, this weekend, the stars aligned & my husband was able to bring our daughter to Pa so we could go shopping. We were even more excited when we realized that my sister & my niece (who is also going to her prom) were able to come with us as were my best friend and her daughter who needed an 8th grade dinner dance dress. We made a plan and I chose Miller's after a quick search online. We hoped that my mom would be able to come & watch both of her granddaughters try on gowns but unfortunately, she was readmitted to the hospital yesterday. When we arrived at the store, my daughter ran from the car with excitement and was immediately greeted my a very sweet young lady inside. She was situated in a dressing room and trying on two beautiful gowns within minutes. Everything went down hill from there. My best friend was already there when we arrived & was in one of the dressing rooms helping her daughter. My niece was feeling a little unsure and couldn't find anything she wanted to try on. My sister who used to work at a bridal shop was doing a great job helping my daughter with her dresses (pulling them tighter so she could see how they would look if fitted properly). We noticed that another young girl trying on dresses had one of the dresses that my daughter had seen online and very much wanted to try on. I asked the salesgirl if this would be possible & I was told no. She would have to wait until the other girl was done with it. I thought this was strange as she didn't even ask the other girl if she wanted it. We would have been happy to order it if the other girl wanted the one in stock. Unfortunately, we never even got the chance to find out if she liked it. Shortly after this, a woman barged in to the dressing room area and rudely demanded that we go outside the dressing area and wait for my daughter. My sister and niece were upset but they obliged. I refused at first and tried to explain to her that I was going to stick close and help my daughter. She told me this was not allowed, they had people to help her. I informed her that they really weren't doing a good job of that but I did go out & my sister & I decided to leave. I called in to the dressing room to let my friend know that we would be leaving because we had been thrown out of the dressing room. We proceeded to wait for my daughter who had no idea where we went. When she came out to model a beautiful dress that she was loving, I let her know that we would have to leave and find it somewhere else. While we waited, the rude woman confronted us 3 more times. I let her know that we would be leaving. She asked why I felt the salesgirls weren't helping & I told her my daughter was told she couldn't try on a dress that she liked. Her response was the icing on the cake. She had the gall to say "Oh, was she too big for it?". My daughter is tiny, not that it matters, this would never be appropriate. It is offensive. She also informed us that there is a sign explaining their dressing room policy. We hadn't noticed. It's small & posted above the dressing room door. This entire time, no one even tried to help my niece. No one tried to make her feel comfortable or suggested a dress that she might feel comfortable in. My friend remained in the dressing room and was never asked to leave. We did all leave and we went to MB. We had an amazing time there. Thankfully, the day was salvaged. My daughter found a gorgeous dress there. I want Miller's to know that between these 3 young ladies, they potentially lost over $1,000 in sales today for absolutely no reason. I hope that it was worth it to them. Had we been treated with respect, this could have ended differently. All that abhorrent woman had to do was respectfully explain their policy and we would never have been upset. This is also something the salesgirls could explain when you are greeted at the door. I still wouldn't have liked it, but I would have followed suit. I will never shop this store again and will advise everyone I know in the area to avoid it as well.

I will say that we may have been a little more then they are used too and I could see/understand if they got frustrated or confused. But The woman in charge was awful to us from the start. We all choose about 5 dresses we liked. Anyone who has ever tried on dresses knows that sometimes it's hard to find the right size since we are all shaped differently. After trying on two of the dresses I realized that I would need a bigger size. I asked the girl helping me ( who was amazing and extremely helpful) if she wanted me to put the dresses back before getting the new ones, she told me no that she would do it, it was fine. So I went out and picked more dresses in a size up while I picked three more because I really wasn't sure if they were gonna fit. One of three of those dresses fit and I absolutely loved it. But I continued to look at my options the woman gave me an attitude and asked if we could pick less dresses because our piles were getting a little big and "it would be hard for the girls to put back" which I can understand but once again I asked the girl if she wanted me to put them back and she told me no. The woman was extremely insensitive to our frustration trying to find the right sized dress and something we loved. After I choose the dress I wanted, I saw a pair of Steve Madden shoes that I thought would pair with the dress amazing I wasn't sure if I could try them on so I asked a girl who told me "I'm sure you can but make sure with one of the other girls" so I went to the backroom and asked one who told me I could so I continued to get the shoes and try them on again the angry woman comes to the back gives me a nasty look and tells me to be very careful they are expensive THE SHOES WERE $140 insinuating that I couldn't afford the shoes and I was just playing around.I assured her that I would be very careful that I loved the shoes. after trying them on and I went to take them back and the woman returned saying "next time can you just ask before trying them on" obviously she didn't know I asked already so I told her that and the girl who told me I could tried them on also told her I could try them on. She gave me a bother dirty look, rolled her eyes and walked away. DO NOT SHOP HERE. MB prom is way nicer and would never treat you the way I was treated today. I will be buying the dress AND the shoes at mb prom.

I remember coming here as a child when it was Gabriel Brothers and they owned the space right next to it (at the time was the outlet section owned by them). I also remember sidewalk sales at the end of each season. I'm not sure of the ownership details, but Gabe's has become a lot like TJ Max and Marshall's in set up, reconstruction, the rewards program, and pricing in some aspects. Throughout all the changes over the years, this location has remained my favorite. I like the one in Monroeville, but I always thought this one had a better selection and organization iveralCaring and fun employees. Awesome prices. Always a wonderful selection of name brand items. Forever "shockingly low prices"; it's not just the motto people--IT'S TRUE! I got a thick Banana Republic sweater cardigan for $7.99!!! I also got navy over-the-knee boots for $16.99!!! Like you just can't beat it. In the past couple years, Gabe's started a rewards program. At first, I was like 'whatever'. But I've come to enjoy it and use. Why? Because it brings you coupons!!! Yesterday I received a coupon for $15 off $50+ purchase. So in conclusion, if you want great deals and you're willing to be patient enough to sometimes have to look for them, then Gabe's is the place for you. I will say that these clothes racks could use some organization as many items are just thrown on the racks based on category. For example, one rack may have various types dresses on it including work dresses, day dresses, and evening dresses all at different prices and no more than 5 of the same dress if that. But this also makes the hunt more fun!

This particular Ross is in the Greengate Centre shopping center. I occasionally shop at Ross to search their racks and shelves for bargains. During my visit here, I looked throughout the store but especially in the women's clothing and home goods. The shelves and racks appeared to be fully stocked and organized. The prices were reasonable. For example, I saw a pack of several pairs of Calvin Klein underwear for $22, a Henckels ceramic pan for about $25, a 6-pack of Skechers socks for several dollars, a nice sundress for $18, and a Michael Kors purse for $63. Those bargains were tough to pass up (I am still thinking about them!), but I did buy a cellphone cord and a dog toy. The cashier rang up my purchase properly.

The store doesn't look half empty and they didn't do that thing where they rearranged everything in the store making it confusing to find things. I browsed all the racks that I could to find some clothes and it's always hit or miss because you can't always find what you want when you want it here. The employees seemed rather happy to be working and helpful when they can can be. I find it odd that they have now moved the fitting rooms to the front of the store and there is no one really there to man them now. So if you are alright with waiting a bit then you can definitely spend some time in here.

My teenage son recently visited the store on his own, excited to ask questions and learn more about motorcycles. Instead of being welcomed or supported, he was laughed at by the staff and told to "do his homework." This kind of dismissive, condescending behavior toward a young person is unacceptable. He left feeling embarrassed and discouraged, which is the opposite of how any potential rider or customer should feel walking into your business. What made the situation worse was how my concern was handled when I called to follow up. Rather than showing any understanding or accountability, the staff brushed it off, claiming my son had "taken it out of context." It felt like his age and inexperience were used as an excuse to ignore the issue entirely. The staff chose to deflect blame onto a teenager--further minimizing a valid concern. It's incredibly disappointing to see such a stark difference in treatment simply because he came in alone. Whether it was because of his age or something else, the message was clear: he wasn't taken seriously. That kind of attitude doesn't just hurt your reputation--it alienates the next generation of riders. We'll be taking our business elsewhere from now on, and I would caution other families to think twice before supporting a place that doesn't treat all customers--regardless of age--with basic respect. Do better!
