My mom was in search of a new pair of dressier boots and she surely had quite the selection at Little's over the weekend. The sales member was quick to bring out at least 10 styles from the sale rack that fit her general description and shoe size. She was able to comfortably try on each of the shoes without feeling pressured to buy. She ended up loving two pairs equally which worked out well with the buy one get one for $20 sale they had at the time. She spent $199 for two pairs of high quality boots. I did browse through the sale rack a little and thought the prices were a bit high, especially for a "sale" price, but this is a small business that I assume is family owned and ran vs. a big box store with bulk discounts. read more

I love supporting this full-service, locally owned shoe store! You can see here that I found 6 possibilities to replace my standard black Danskos for work (one sole had finally split after a decade). The two on the far right were not available in my size (8.5), but I still ended up with a pair of replacement black Danskos AND the last pair of magenta Mary Janes with silver stars ON SALE. I got out of there with two pairs of shoes, one functional and one cute, that I expect to wear for years and years for less than $250. Little's being the historical fixture it is here in Pittsburgh, you might be tempted to ignore our experience with them, but hear me out. They're certainly friendly and responsive when they're trying to make a sale, but they fail, categorically and unapologetically, on follow-up support. Our daughter fell in love with a pair of designer combat-style boots there, and though the 150-dollar price tag was far-and-away the highest we'd ever contemplated for footwear for her, with the encouragement of the sales staff, we went for it. Just a couple weeks later, when the boots spontaneously self- destructed, soles coming apart after only light, normal use, I reached out to Little's Shoes. There was no moment of pause when they offered options or seemed to consider how they could help. They never even feigned interest in keeping us as customers. They jumped right into passing the buck. "Oh, that's on the manufacturer. You'll have to contact THEM." The shoe company, of course, tried to pass the buck back to Little's. No effort was ever made, by either party, to explain or excuse the situation, or provide compensation or replacement. Needing shoes for our eight-year-old daughter, we popped into Little's Shoes. The woman on the floor was so helpful and we landed on a pair of sandals. However, when my wife tried to buy a pair of women's shoes, the woman behind the register snapped at her and another customer that she couldn't help until someone else came. Littles is one of Pittsburgh's renown shoe stores. My major problem getting over here is getting parked but on Black Friday no problem and it is free. I stopped over here to get their doorbuster Ugg boots. The saleslady directed me to another brand as well which was supposed to be waterproof. I tried both pairs on and while I preferred the waterproof I saw that its standing ratio in snow was only at 32 degrees F. Much as though I loved them I knew they would not meet my purpose so I settled for the doorbuster Ugg boots. I also was able to get a pair of Ugg slippers deeply discounted Even though they didn't have my first color choice they did have my size and I was able to save a bundle. They also carry Sorel which is another of my favorite boots. Little's has an outstanding variety of quality shoes. The carry top name brands for men, women, and children. The orthotics I tried on at the store were good but not the quality I am used to due to my own special needs. Their prices are competitive with other fine shoe stores and they will measure your feet for size upon request. As a novelty they are selling both Star Wars themed and Hanukkah socks if you are preparing for both the new movie and the holiday. I recognized today was a busy day but was grateful for the fact that some of the team did take the time out to help me determine what's best for my needs. If you're looking to support a small business in Pittsburgh to buy shoes... Little's is a fantastic option. They have an incredible selection of high quality shoes ranging from contemporary styles, classic styles, work shoes, fun shoes, athletic shoes, boots, sandals.. the list goes on. I came in recently as I was looking for a very specific brand of shoes and a specific style (Taos- crave combat boots). I was greeted with a friendly smile from a helpful employee. They didn't have the shoes in stock, but did have other shoes from the same brand. After finding my size in the brand of shoe, I decided to order the exact pair I wanted through the employee. He assured me that even though I am ordering the shoe I can take it back or exchange if it does not fit me. I was also looking for hiking boots and was pleasantly surprised when he let me know that they had a few in stock and one brand was on sale. I ended up finding a great pair of hiking boots at a fantastic deal ($100, down from $240). The shoes I had ordered arrived in one week and 2 days and fit me perfectly. Great store! The service is impeccable and the selection is awesome. Granola shoes, fancy shoes, they have it all. The drawbacks are they are so popular, it's busy and noisy, and they can quickly run out of your size. Well behaved dogs can come in and try on shoes too. I must have tried on 15 shoes, anything that caught my eye, and finally found a pair I had to have. Yes, they were expensive, but with no tax on clothes or shoes in PA, in a way I got a 10% discount buying them at Little's instead of in California. If you find something you love, I bet they could order it for you. If I lived there, I'd be in Little's all the time, trying on beautiful shoes. I would avoid this place point blank. Yeah the have an okay selection but half the time you have to do their job for them. I've bought multiple pairs from here to the point I can walk in and say I have this pair, this pair and this pair. One time I was given two left shoes and not offered a discount when I had to drive 30 mins back to get them exchanged. This pair went through two services checks and was still sold to me as two left shoes. I recently went in there and bought two pairs of Ugg boots that were on sale. The person selling me the shoes tried to ticket them as full price until I said something. Like I said you have to do their job for them. Better off going to Maceys and getting a pair. read more

The only reason I'm not giving Little's five stars is due to their lack of selection based on price - meaning, most of their inventory is in the mid- to high-range area. Having said that, this is *THE* place in Pittsburgh for all kinds of top quality brands, anything in leather, imported shoes, and more. They really do have something for everyone, as long as you're willing to spend a bit more than your average shoe store. What I like the most about Little's is that so many of the staff have been there forever! They all know their shoe stuff through and through, are helpful and friendly, and create an overall pleasant shopping experience. Best of all - they're not pushy. During this particular visit, my mom was shopping for boots after Achilles surgery. While the shoes she picked out were beautiful and did, in fact fit, she ended up feeling not quite ready to put good money into a nice pair of shoes yet. I think most any other shoe store would have tried to push the sale on her; however, this particular salesperson agreed that it wasn't the right fit for now. Very friendly and helpful staff! When visiting a friend in Pittsburgh, I realized I had forgotten my dress shoes back at home. I was recommended by the locals, that Little's had the best selection for men's dress shoes. The store is a great size and they surprisingly had one of the better selection of men's dress shoes I had seen. They had a fantastic variety of styles and sizes ranging from a variety of prices. The salesman even suggested some great shoes that were actually on sale! I had a fantastic experience here finding replacement shoes! Little's Shoes is another one of those places that seems to have been around forever. I've been coming here since I was a little girl. I like the full-service attention I get here and I'm willing to pay for it. I can't shop at the self-service places like Famous Footwear, Payless, or DSW. Shoes from those places never seem to fit right. People might think that Little's costs too much. Well, really you can find shoes in all sorts of styles and price ranges. Plus the salesperson actually fits your foot and makes suggestions. I bought this really cute pair of Merrill Agaves. Plus I needed some hiking shoes too and they had this pair of Merrell Chameleon Arc Stretch hikers that felt really good on my feet. Not that I was following a Merrill theme here. I've also found some cute stuff in the past to go with the vintage wear I occasionally wear. My husband Rick likes this place for shoes too. Good selection, even for people in their early twenties such as myself. (Yes they have a lot of kiddies' shoes and old ladies' shoes too...) Occasionally I will find a gem, but it's really expensive, not to mention the folks here work on commission so they are all standing in the front of the shop like vultures waiting to descend on carrion. yeah. It's like that. But they do go above and beyond to make a sale which means they will keep going back in the stock room for you until they get a size that fits. I have been looking for a new pair of running shoes for a while. I had just finished working and decided to stop by Gaby et Jules for a treat. I was walking back to my car and stumbled on this little shoe store and decided to check out their running shoes, they seemed to have a good selection. I was standing (with my mask on) by myself in a corner simply looking at the shoes, when a very aggressive sounding women yelled across the room and told me "Um if you're going to be touching things you need to put on some gloves, they're by the counter." I was very confused and didn't think she was talking to me at first (since I hadn't touched anything). I am very understanding of taking safety precautions to keep others safe, I would gladly wear gloves in all stores, and I am happy to see a business taking such precautions. However, the tone and aggressive attitude the employee showed is simply unacceptable in sales, and honestly I was made to feel very embarrassed. When I looked to see where the gloves were, they were on the opposite side of the room where I would never have looked to know to put a pair on. I loooove shoes! I have over 60 pairs. Some better quality than others. My running shoes, rain boots, hiking shoes, snow boots are all from Little's. When I purchase a shoes from Little's I know I am getting a quality pair of shoes so I'm willing to spend more. Most importantly they have my size (5 1/2) and are willing to order my size if they don't have it in stock. The sales people also will recommend a line or brand of shoes that will run smaller too. There is one sale man who is been particularly helpful who works in the men's department (yes guys they have a whole department for you!) He has helped my husband find many pairs of long lasting shoes in the past. My husband needs more support than most 27 yr olds because of an accident he was in so the guy has given good recommendations of supportive shoes that aid him in walking which can be uncomfortable after a short period of time. Bought an amazing Sorel boot (Joan of Artic knit) for the brutal winter in Boston. I was trying to look for a nice boot online before heading back to Boston, but almost everything available in stores nearby in Boston were either sold out or going to be delivered in 10 days if I ordered online. As a last resort I went in to Little's Shoes which to my surprise had a ton of options available (and in my size) The lady there was pretty helpful and helped me to pick a really good boot which helped me survive 108 inches on snow in Boston this winter ;) read more

I'm also unsure why they have so many people on staff, maybe they are 100% commission or something. Who knows.
