I felt most interested in shopping for myself, so I did not feel thrilled with the small selection of women's clothing and shoes. Furthermore, some of the prices were higher than what I wanted to spend, and employees did not interact with me much. On the plus side, this store had multiple dressing rooms so customers did not have to wait to use them. And the departments for golfing and baseball looked like a decent size.

It's not on par with that new Dick's House of Sport at Ross Park, but it's decent for this area.

We just returned from a Christmas trip to Snowbird, Utah and my first skiing after two partial knee replacements (I'm only 51!). Young Jerry sold me a lighter weight pair of Atomics for less stress on my joints. With more rocker than my old ones, they handled well the in the two feet of snow we were gifted with! During my visit, I felt very impressed by how organized the store's racks were, especially compared to competing retailers. I shopped mostly in the women's section, and the articles of clothing were well organized by type, size, and color. Throughout the store, I saw many major brands, including Adidas, HOKA, Under Armour, and others. The prices were low to moderate, and I found some things that I liked. For example, I saw price tags of $25 for a women's sundress and $85-140 for a pair of women's HOKA sneakers. I deducted one star from my review because I cannot find everything that I want here, and because employees need to greet more often.

The shoes were in a weird order though (at least in my size) The fan shop was hit or miss depending on your size. And of course, nothing in my size that I wanted... I thought about a $3 Russell Wilson shirt to honor his 6 wins for the Steelers, but that seemed excessive. I also saw these cool Pens Socks that were normally $14.99 but were on sale for $16.99... wait... whaaaaah? It's probably worth a stop here and there to see what you can find for cheap! If you're looking for legit Dick's stuff, then the real store isn't far away.

On their website the group talks about being particularly focused on helping Pittsburgh climbers, hikers, bikers, runners, campers, paddlers, and "outdoor adventure lovers." Obviously that last bit is pretty general, but I find the statement helpful overall since it does a great job of summarizing what kinds of gear you'll find at their shop. No matter your experience level, you're welcome here, as the staff want to help people of all experience levels explore and access different outdoor activities. In other words: this is the perfect place to browse and ask questions that can help you best prepare for your next/new adventure. In addition to operating a storefront, the 3 Rivers staff also regularly coordinate outdoor events and activities that people can sign up for. Naturally some activities are more seasonal than others (looking at you, kayaking!). Others happen year-round, including monthly night hikes in Frick Park. It's a shame this shop is currently so far out of my way, because if I was closer I'd probably stop in more often, even if only to take advantage of their community fireside hours. Still, it's great that they're here in the city at all - and it just makes my rare visits that much more delightful and special!
