Jo has been doing my hair for almost 10 years, and I could not recommend her more! She's helped me figure out how to best enhance my natural hair while also giving me freedom to try new things and experiment. I always walk out of the salon happy. I Jo! read more

I got my roots done here. I had spoken with Christi regarding the shade we would dye my roots. I said they should be slightly darker than my blonde.length. I stated that I have had my roots done WAY too dark in the past by other colorist's. I left the salon thinking they were fine until I got home and pulled my hair back and realized that I had just received the exact opposite of what we had discussed. My roots are about 20 shades darker than my blonde and not blended in the slightest. I emailed the salon because they don't answer the phone. I was told that I got what I asked for and that in order to fix their mistake I'd be the one to have to pay to get partial highlight service in order to blend my hair. As if I'd pay them again to destroy my hair again. So there goes the balayage that I had just gotten done six weeks prior. Terrible customer service. Clearly the customer doesn't come first at this salon. Don't go to this salon unless you want to waste your money and then be told to come spend more on bad services. No idea how this salon got "Best Of the Bay" read more

Reena is truly the best at what she does! I've been getting my hair done at Fox & Belle salon for many years now and I always leave with a smile on my face. The service is amazing, complimentary drinks and massage chairs when getting your hair washed. Having natural curly hair is no joke, and Reena is an expert. She is honest, caring, and I fully trust her professional suggestions. She takes the time to listen to what I want and gives me her professional advice based on my hair type and what I came in wanting. I 100% recommend booking with her! read more

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this salon. The decor is adorable, staff are personable and skilled. Unlike other salons I've been to in the past, I feel valued as a client. Linda has been doing my color and cut for years (brunette to red to blonde, etc) and I can confidently say I feel like a new person after every visit. And my hair stays feeling HEALTHY. Oh yeah, hair wash stations have vibrating massage chairs! Love love love! read more

Lynn is just really good at what she does. I always leave her chair feeling lighter, fresher, and more like myself. She covers my grays in a way that looks natural, and she nails my haircut every time without me having to over explain what I want. It's just easy with her. Consistent, steady, and genuinely caring. I have always struggled with someone who can actually cut my curly hair and Maritza is the BEST stylist. I was so scared if after the haircut my curls would be mismatched but they were perfect. LOVE THIS SALON - found my new go! I forgot to write a review last time I came here, so better late than never. I came here around March 2022 and got my hair colored by Linda. She did an amazing job and definitely knows what she is doing. This was my favorite color that I have gotten by far. After I got my hair done, it felt like the healthiest I had in a long time. In December 2022, I needed a haircut really bad and thankfully there was an opening. Maritza took great care of me and was super sweet! She gave me some long layers and framing around my face. I love my hair cut and my hair is looking so much better - it looked like I dyed my hair again LOL BIG THANKS TO LINDA & MARITZA read more

Wow! So happy I took the chance to visit Fox and Belle. I booked my haircut appt with Reena. Using their online system to book was easy and they were quick to reply. When I walked in, I was greeted and directed where to go. Reena was ready for me. She was kind and responsive with what I was asking for my hair. She took her time and was very detailed. I appreciated her checking in with me along they way to see how I was feeling with the cut. The salon was very chic and clean. I'm excited I have somewhere close to get my hair cut and definitely will be returning ! I asked for curtain bangs with long layers :) (Sorry not the best pic, I wish I took more pictures to show more of the cut and style) read more

Fox and Belle Salon - Haircut with Reena- Curtain bangs with longs layers and texture on the ends - Hair Salons Near Me - Berkeley, California

First of all, everyone that works at this salon is sweet, nice, and willing to help.... even if you're not their client. They're quick to respond to emails and I even received a response late at night when I panic emailed due to a schedule conflict (I know this isn't the norm, but the fact they they still responded when they read the email vs. leaving it until the next morning.... I really appreciated that). 2-3 years ago, I was desperate for a change. Prior to having my child, I never really cared much about my hair. I kept it long with a cut and perm 1-2 times a year. No special shampoos, treatments, etc. After having my child, I was going THROUGH it with postpartum hair loss. I always had thin hair with low-ish density, but the postpartum hair loss was so bad that I started developing areas where my scalp was visible along with a very visible receding hairline. It was so bad that my doctors did additional bloodwork to see if there were other health concerns causing the hair loss. I booked a Hail Mary appointment with Reena after copious amounts of research. When I walked in, I had already filled out an inquiry form with my concerns and she and I went through my head and she immediately started forming a plan with me. These were not immediate fixes, but we came up with a plan to increase the density and we also discussed the different styles of cuts that would help make it LOOK more dense. I got overwhelmed and told her I trust her and to just tell me what needed to be done at home. I went in with long hair and came out with the shortest bob I've ever had in my life. Was the length shocking? YES. Was I upset? NO. IT LOOKED AMAZING. We also discovered that my hair now had some curl and texture in it and she helped me bring those out to the forefront to the point where it is now the norm to walk around with waves in my hair (pregnancy and hormone shifts are crazy!) I felt like a new women. Comparing my hair now to what we started off with is crazy. I went in feeling like Gollum, but now I feel normal. My hair is no longer the primary point of insecurity. Every hair appointment, we go through the changes and how to change my hair routine to better support my hair. I trust her 100% with my hair and I no longer have a specific vision with my hair. She goes in and does what she thinks would look best. I've just started growing out the bob after keeping it short - I ended up LOVING the bob and had a hard time starting to grow out my hair. The most recent session included a coloring session (I don't know what was done because... again.... I give her complete freedom and trust her completely) and I'm in love with how everything turned out. She knows my limits and keeps it within those lines. read more

I've seen several people here including Lynn most recently several times. The team and service has always been great. I was inspired to write this review because the last haircut Lynn gave me is rocking my freaking WOLRD- it is so perfect for my texture and has made life much more fun :))) It's like the cut has activated my waves; styling it is so easy and I feel way more like myself in this cut. I absolutely love it. Thank you Lynn!!! Can't wait for my next cut! read more

I first came here in 2018 after having a pretty bad highlight experience at a different salon in the Bay Area. I was scheduled with Reena, as she was just recently hired from a different salon and was accepting new clients. I have naturally dark brown hair, and had been wearing an ashy-blonde balayage, but my most recent color job by my previous stylist was totally botched. Less than 2 weeks later, I walked into Fox and Belle hoping to reverse my harsh, chunky, uneven, and brassy highlight lines. Reena and the business owner Judy took a good look at my hair then consulted about the perfect combination of toner/gloss/root melt needed for the job. Reena not only fixed the harsh placement of highlights that I had been devastated over, but toned my hair to the perfect cool shade I was going for originally. Reena and Judy's attention to detail exceeded my expectations of what my hair could look like, but that's not even what impressed me most about the four hours that I spent in the salon that day. Although Reena was new and still learning the unique product names at Fox and Belle, Judy was so patient and kind while she was consulting with her about my color correction. Judy's warm and kind personality almost makes you forget that she's the boss, because she's totally NOT bossy! She's a leader, but also a team builder, and its clear she is passionate about her craft and about making people look and feel their best! The positive vibes in the salon are what keep me coming back every time since that first visit in 2018. In addition to their welcoming environment, they have skills for days. The salon regularly hosts local continuing education workshops and the team of hair stylists attend both local and national elite education events to stay current on the newest trends/techniques/products (and safety/cleaning measures during the COVID-19 pandemic). They are all top notch in their craft, and they're constantly improving and loving what they do. What more could you ask for in a salon and its stylists? Although everybody in the salon is amazing, I'm loyal to Reena, cause she's the best!! She makes you feel welcomed in her chair and makes your hair dreams come true! Despite being bleached, my hair is the healthiest and prettiest it's ever been and I get more compliments about my hair than I ever have. I was looking for bridal hair, and Judy wasn't available on the date I needed, but she offered to help me find other local hair artists so that I would still enjoy my day, and not stress about planning! Thanks Fox and Belle for looking out for your salon family and your clients! Can't wait until next time! read more

In one word, amazing. In more than one word, I am very glad that I ended up coming to Fox and Belle. I don't think I've ever liked my hair coming out of a salon. First off, there was no pushing me in any direction. I was indecisive (partially because I didn't know what I wanted since I have never liked much), but Jo was a lovely human being and was patient and listened. We worked together to figure out a plan and something that I would be comfortable with. I also appreciated that they wanted to know more about me and what I did with my hair. I let them know I generally cut my hair once a year and was low maintenance. Instead of trying to push me to get it cut more often or push a bunch of products or treatments, Jo heard me. We decided to do a hilift balayage with layers since it would grow out naturally and wouldn't need much to maintain. The 3.5 hours went by fast, and I enjoyed every moment of it. Have to say. I smiled for the first time after a haircut after seeing myself in the mirror when we were finished. That speaks volumes. As an aside, everyone there was amazing and so incredibly supportive. They were all on my team and excited about my transformation. I'm glad I reached out of my comfort zone and did something different. read more

If you've left salons feeling completely gutted because it wasn't what you wanted, Fox & Belle does so much to make sure you don't leave the salon feeling that way. This is a salon that really listens to YOUR preferences. I've been here twice for haircuts now and I leave feeling completely heard. Shoutout to Vichida for her patience with my thick hair! She even debrief what I wanted before cutting to make sure. They are strict with their cancellation policies so make sure you're 100% sure when you book (or reschedule before 24 hours). Price for balayage/color is on the pricey side but they really know their stuff. Awesome service and philosophy, I know my hair is in great hands here. read more

TLDR; Reena is THEEE hair wizard you've been looking for....and you don't even need a car to get there (Go Bears!) I finally did it and coloured my hair! Shoutout to you Reena!! I have curly hair (and zero trust in box dye... yikes), I always thought colouring was way too risky. I took the leap and I'm so glad I did tbh. It's was such an enjoyable experience, from the attentiveness of our consultation & explaining the process to the after care recommendations. Thank you Reena for answering all my questions!! I LOVEEE ITT!!! And for all my Berkeley students - make your Trader Joe's trip spicy lol by coming to Reena for your hair appointment first then do your walk thru at TJ it'll def give main character energy!! Trust!! Haha. But yeah if you're living near campus it's totally doable, (literally just take 51B). Commuter students - it's def still worth it, they have great parking space! Classes and some self care? Why not! So, if you're even thinking about switching up your look, need a haircut, or really need a self care recharge this is your sign! Reena's your girl. Book her and thank me later! read more

For years, I was so self-conscious about my hair that I developed a genuine phobia of getting it cut. It all stemmed from a string of bad experiences with hairdressers that left me feeling insecure. But then I found Reena at Fox and Belle, and everything changed. My hair journey truly blossomed once I started seeing Reena. She's been with me through every phase--from bold blue hair to trendy blonde bangs--and she even helped me discover that I have natural curls! With her magic, she's brought my hair to life, and I've never felt more confident and beautiful. Even after moving to Southern California, I still make it a point to come back to Fox and Belle for my haircuts. The salon is more than just a place to get your hair done; the whole crew makes you feel like a goddess both inside and out. It honestly feels like a second home. Thank you, Reena, and the entire Fox and Belle team. You are the hair gurus I never knew I needed. read more

Maritza at Fox and Belle is absolutely *magic.* I came to her after waiting much longer than usual to get my balayage done, and also not feeling super happy with the way my hair had been blonding previously. They seem like they are trying to be a fancy place but in fact they are much like many of the other small walk-in type beauty parlors along university ave, the only difference is the price tag and the fact they will offer you water or tea. Overall they seemed nice enough but not very attentive to the needs of my hair or the service of my appointment. My stylist Maritza was extremely chatty, to the point of taking from my relaxation and kind of distracting/annoying although I imagine she meant well. She seemed on auto pilot and just kind of checked out. I actually think she burned off a chunk or two of my hair. Better services can be found elsewhere. read more

Incredibly happy and grateful that I found Fox and Belle! Judy and Vichida are amazing, as well as everyone at Fox and Belle. Judy continues to make my dream hair come true! Judy and Vichida are so helpful and constantly provides me feedback on how to care for my hair, to keep it healthy, and to help maximize the color - they are always giving me styling tips as well! Judy takes the time and extra effort to really understand my hair goals and will let me know if a they are realistic, or not, with my low maintenance routine. Judy and Vichida are so patient with my very stubborn hair and takes careful time without ever rushing my hair process. They are accommodating through my hair sessions with them and strive to turn my hair goal/vision into a reality, while ensuring that my hair remains healthy after processing - my hair has consistently taken 6-ish hours to complete! read more

I got my hair done by Vachida, and she was AMAZING. I came in with 10+ inches of virgin hair not knowing what exactly I wanted; but with a few inspiration pictures, and questions, she knew exactly what kind of hair I wanted. First of all, she's the sweetest person you'll ever meet. Second of all, take a look at my hair; she will MAKE SURE you walk out of the salon 100% satisfied. Like I said, I came in with 10+inches of shiny virgin hair; but I walked out with even healthier hair! (Had no idea that was even possible) This was all because of Olaplex, and Vichida's bleaching skills. I really recommend everyone to ask for the Olaplex treatment. She was able to bleach my hair from virgin Asian black hair to the lightest since I wanted ash AND STILL had my hair soft and healthy because she was so careful with my hair. If you're looking to dye your hair like mine (very very ashy), it does takes a long time to bleach all the way to achieve the ashy tone. So don't be surprised if they tell you it'll take 5+ hrs. BUT the extra hrs most definitely are worth the healthy/soft/STRONG hair. Vichida will prioritize the health of your hair, so DON'T expect her to bleached your hair just to ruin it under 5hrs. I have nothing but great things to say about Vachida and Fox and Belle salon. The salon is amazing, the staff are so kind and skilled, etc etc etc. 10/10 recommend read more

"I believe it may be best to see a stylist who specializes in achieving the level of blonde you envision." Is what is was told by Lynn AFTER I let her dye my hair after I worked soo long and hard to get it long and virgin... after ONE week I had bands of dark orange in my hair. While she was nice enough to sort to fix it ... I had mentioned that it was Super brassy orange where it was supposed to have that blend my roots to the blond .... Thinking she was gonna just retone it I proceeded ... OMG if I knew she was gonna put dark dye in my hair I would have stopped her...: she said " don't worry it's not BLACK Dye, I just tapped some brown" I WOULD NEVER !! ...... and honestly the only reason why I considered going back a second time is because obviously she didn't do a good job so it'd be hard for another person to correct it ..... went to a NEW salon they did such a beautiful job and they even told me that she didn't do a very good job and because Lynn tapped the brown in my hair it was difficult to lighten up that part of my hair we got but we got it done... And the way that she spoke to me in the emails going back-and-forth after I try to make another appointment was very condescending and demeaning as if I was not understanding the processes of dying hair AFTER complimenting me on an old photo where I had platinum blonde hair I did myself... I would not recommend anyone go here read more
