If you happen to share Elizabeth's vision of what looks good on you, or you are willing to allow her to dictate what looks good, then probably you will have a good experience, judging from the many positive reivews. However, if you want someone who will listen, take your opinion seriously, and not impose their image on you, go elsewhere. This was my first visit to Tique. I don't know Elizabeth at all, but I was persuaded by the many positive reviews to give her a try. I had a clear idea of a new cut I wanted to try. Elizabeth had requested that I text photos to her of what I am looking for, which I did. I texted two pics to her. When I arrived at my appointment a week later, she asked me for photos of what I wanted, as if she hadn't seen the pics I had texted. I showed her the pics again. I pointed to details of the photo that mattered to me. Elizabeth curtly told me to look at her and talk to her, not at the pic. So I did that, I put my phone down and talked to her directly, putting aside my slight confusion about her tone. Elizabeth gave her input, which I listened to. After some back and forth, we came to an agreement. I note that during our conversation, she often interrupted me and set aside my opinion by pointing out only how what I wanted wouldn't work, and how she would do it differently. Which would have been ok, except that also she insisted on statements about my hair that were just plain wrong. For example, she said, "You have strong hair," referring to a strong curl at the ends of my hair. I said no, my hair curls at the end because I used a curling iron to make the curl; without the curling iron, my hair is stick straight with zero volume, the curl totally disappears. She replied, the curl is there because of the blunt cut from your previous hairdresser. ??? Hello? She simply ignored what I just said. But, I put aside my irritation at these things, because this was our first meeting and I ascribed this to not knowing each other. And, we eventually reached an agreement that I felt good about, which is what mattered to me. Elizabeth proceeded to wash my hair. Then I was sitting in her chair, hair wet, expecting her to begin cutting. But wait, no, instead she questioned what I wanted. I explained, again, the look I wanted. Whereupon she pointed to a nearby magazine cover that happened to be lying nearby (note: I didn't pick that photo, she did), saying that her suggestions would lead to a better look as exemplified by the magazine cover. I said, that pic looks nothing like what I want. She said, well of course the magazine cover doesn't illustrate exactly what I want, but the length will be better, etc etc. This was confusing, frustrating and lazy. Elizabeth was attached to her vision, but instead of using her expertise to find and show me a photo that illustrates the cut that she is proposing, she simply points to a magazine lying nearby and uses that to say her vision will be better. Really, really lazy. Don't you think, Elizabeth, that referencing a photo that doesn't show the cut that you are suggesting is, like, confusing? And, again, all throughout, Elizabeth was interrupting, dismissing, not listening. So I got up and I walked out. Wet hair and all. I took off the cape and left it on the floor. As I unlocked the salon door and let myself out, I said very clearly: "Get me the hell out of here." And I meant it. Elizabeth acted like she was surprised, but I don't buy that for a second. I believe that she knew, every moment, what she was doing: she was pushing me, trying to angle things to go her way. Her feelings mattered, mine didn't. I believe that Elizabeth, and any hair stylist, deserves to be listened to for input. Which is what I did, I listened and considered her input. We actually reached an agreement. But the client - me- has the right to pass on advice, at which point the job of a professional stylist is to set aside their vision, understand what the client wishes to look like, and do their best to achieve that. NOT, as Elizabeth did, keep on discussing things and keep a back-and-forth going, which are ways of refusing the client's aims. When the stylist's advice is rejected, that's just how life goes - unless you are at Tique Salon. Elizabeth has NO professional boundaries when it comes to a difference of opinion. You are there to manifest her vision. Really upsetting experience and I'm glad I walked out. She deserved it. "Tique Salon"? Pique Salon is more accurate. And Elizabeth, if you are bothering to read this, don't apologize. An apology from you is just your way of trying to fool yourself and me, and I'm not fooled. read more

Lisa is incredibly skilled at her craft, she really knows what she's doing. Very satisfied with the cut; it's quite possibly the best haircut I've ever received. I gave her an incredibly difficult reference photo and she executed it well. $38 is a great deal. Not to mention she's very flexible on timing. read more

Lisa is amazing!! I love this gal so much based on our interaction!! I was itching for a haircut. I came across Tique Salon on Yelp, called to make an appointment but had to leave a voicemail. I received a text message later that night from Lisa to see when I could come in for a haircut. Originally I was booked for Sunday but Friday morning, she asked if I could come in "now". I quickly grabbed my wallet and keys and drove to the salon. Thankfully I do not live far from the salon. There's paid parking meter right in front of the salon but I could see how it can be difficult to find parking - so get there early! Lisa was so welcoming and listened to all my hair concerns. We discussed what would look great with my face shape and agreed with it. We laughed and talked throughout and she even gave me a few tip and tricks on how I can style my new hair. I found this salon on Yelp and am beyond lucky and grateful to have had such an exceptional experience and stylist. To begin, our conversation was great. I should have trusted my gut. Terrible customer service from the beginning. I sent pictures of exactly what I wanted and asked if she could do it/could send me pics of similar color she has done before. She pointed me to look at her yelp photos and got annoyed when I put the note in my Venmo to hold the spot even though her instructions were unclear. I went in for the appointment and she was deep in the process of dying another client's hair. When she eventually came to greet me, she asked to see the reference photos again and looked at my hair, looked at the photos, and voiced how unhealthy and concerning my hair was. Do you really want it that blonde? Did you have covid? Look at all this breakage!?! Wow, I don't think I can do this. This is really bad... Over and over, would repeat how unhealthy my hair was and was in pure shock as if she's never seen anything like it. It was the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I know my hair is thin but there are kinder ways to communicate if you think someone's hair isn't in a place to go blonde. Based off other reviews, she does not know how to use bleach. She double booked me and just needed to get out of it so she wanted to make it sound like the best idea to just do a haircut. Would not recommend- especially for any brunettes wanting to put any blonde in your hair. read more

I came here to have my hair highlighted / get a baliage and i so desperately wish i hadn't. It was by far the worst salon experience i have had to date. I would give this place 0 stars but I could tell the stylist felt awful and did everything she could to fix my hair - but it still was not enough. Now i'm going to have to pay 300-400$ to get a color correction somewhere else because i don't trust her enough to go back again. I have yellow roots in the front, brown / black roots in the back, and blue highlights that are much brighter on one side of my head than the other.... and random dark spots all over my head just to top it off. It was so clear to me the stylist had no idea what she was doing with bleach and had very little experience with blondes. She first did a full highlight (that was very sloppy) and when i asked if she could do a balayage like she originally offered when i texted her, she panicked and randomly rubbed bleach on only a few areas of my roots and left it there for about 5 minutes, causing my center part to turn a gross yellow / orange brassy color. She then proceeded to randomly put bleach on areas of my hair that were already white, causing irreversible damage. When she took the foils off, it was so clear that she had messed up and she knew it. She started putting on a cool toner that wasn't going to stick to the yellow parts of my hair because they hadn't been lifted enough, but stuck very strongly to the white parts. At this point I was directing her on how to fix it, because I have a pretty thorough understanding of how bleach and toner work. She felt bad and offered to do another round of highlights to offset the brassiness and i agreed because i didn't think my hair could take another round of full bleach, but she didn't do enough highlights and didn't leave the bleach long enough for it to make any difference and so my hair is still bluish white and warm yellow and getting worse with every wash as the toner comes out. Whatever you do, do NOT go here to have your hair bleached or highlighted. This experience was an absolute nightmare and I am going to have to damage my hair even more and spend a ton of money to fix it. read more
