We took home some chocolate covered Oreos and salt water taffy, which were all delicious. Our daughter got this gigantic ice cream cone and ate every last crumb. Not pictured are the cappuccino that I got (so good!) and the loganberry soda that my partner and I shared. I'd never had a loganberry soda and it was SO good. These old fashioned candy and ice cream shops seem increasingly rare these days and there's something quite special about them. They make their own ice cream, sauces and toppings, and the chocolate/fudge in the candy cases. We had a blast and will certainly return.

Ice cream for dinner? Yes, please!…read more Condrell's has been a neighborhood staple since my childhood and the quality has never wavered. You simply cannot beat the sundaes here. The sauces are all homemade and in my opinion, they're really the star of the show. If you want to go all out you can get the "king's portion" double scoop sundae, but I appreciate that they also serve single scoop "queen's portions" for a slightly lower cost. The staff are always friendly and efficient, willing to make modifications so that you can craft the ice cream of your dreams. Worth noting is the very silly water station near the front door. Condrell's has always served tiny glasses of water, which is now offered in Dixie cups that you fill yourself. If you're trying to stay super hydrated these baby sized cups aren't going to meet your needs, but I have come to expect them and think they add to the charm of the venue.

Then as they pull it and shape it, the candy becomes hard. Finally, the candy makers break off pieces like shattering glass and give you the little pieces to try. Warm hard candy is so tasty! I liked that experience a lot.

Canada is known for using real ingredients (such as milk) in their chocolates, so it's fun to see a store that features that. I used to go in there for ice cream sundaes all the time with my mom and they were always so good and I'm sure they're still the same way. They have a nice selection of chocolates in there. They have all different kinds of candy, not just limited to chocolate. Like I said, they are expensive, but I think that goes with any specific candy store. I wanted to buy so many things in there, but did not have the money to do it. If you've never been in there, go and look around, have a Sunday, sit down and relax, and it's nice air conditioning.

We HAD to try the regional faves - orange chocolate and sponge candy! This was our first try and it…read morewas absolutely FABULOUS! The chocolate is smooth, creamy and perfectly dark or perfectly milk - either and both, as they are true to their names! The orange chocolate was "just a bit orange' - it isn't ORANGE chocolate, and we saw right off why this is a fave! The sponge candy - some wrapped in orange chocolate, some in dark and milk chocolate, and some sponge is even peanut butter! We were given generous sized samples, and bought enough for us and as gifts! The prices were all great, and considering the quality - VERY reasonable! The candy shop has truffles, candy by the piece / pound and just so much to choose from. We LOVED the smaller sized pieces, as we wanted to try a good number and we did! ALL have been excellent! Okay, the staff - they too could not be better! One young man said if we had any questions, just ask. He was IN THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY! But I DID ask him, he came out and gave me great info. Not that I want to make chocolates - but I love knowing all that I can and it was just the best place! All of the folks know so much about the company, their products and so much more! They are so friendly and kind. It was an amazing place to visit and shop at! AND, they have videos that show you all about the orange chocolate and the sponge candy! It shows the process, the ingredients, and tells about "secrets" that make Platters Chocolates THE BEST! Below the video screens you can watch the processes they use to make their candies and it too was fun to witness and learn from. Chocolate is just the best, and you can never know too much about chocolate! Platters was the perfect place to get a soft-serve cone as well. They have a good selection, and of course I was looking forward to Orange Chocolate. Nope, my husband chose that and I had S'mores soft-serve. Those cones were huge and absolutely DELICIOUS! Ultra chocolatey, but not "just chocolate"! The orange essence shown in just the right degree and the S'mores was very chocolatey (I was delighted for that!) and had all of the s'mores ingredients shining in it as well. Okay, we did share and I was happy about that too! The factory part of Platters is fun, informative and live for some - video for other parts. The "chocolate shop" where you enjoy the candies and ice creams, is open and inviting. It is busy enough, but enjoyable too. There is just so much to see and try, and so many choices that you just have to go back!

The atmosphere…read morefeels off as it doesn't really have an aroma of popcorn - they make their popcorn in their flagship store in Lockport. I am all about supporting local but a few tweaks here and there could make this location feel more cozy. Also, I'd go with tile floors as opposed to the carpet - it doesn't feel 'clean' with the carpeting in my opinion. The person who waited on me was very friendly and accommodating, giving me a bit of history on the shop while I shopped. I think it would be great if they made some of their popcorn on site to give it more of a fresh feel. One bummer is they don't have kettle corn - the employee said it's because the process gunks up the popcorn maker. This is one of my favorites and I was hoping they'd have it. They do sell a brand of microwave kettle corn that they recommend - no thanks. I forgot to add that none of their popcorns are guaranteed gluten-free - you can read the ingredients to check but they could always have cross-contaminates - just a warning if you have Celiac Disease.

Unless you get headaches easily, because there are always at least 16 dogs in the store, usually lapping at the candy and taking cute doggy poopies everywhere. Which makes me wonder how many people have accidentally mistaken aforementioned doggie poopie for a piece of PSC chocolate in the past. That could be really really awkward unless you're into that sort of thing (and yes, I know one of you is, and I won't ever reveal your identity, but for the record, that's bloody gross okay? Thanks.) This Parkside Candy is every bit as good as the other one in terms of the quality of chocolates (which is really pretty good), however the decor is not anywhere near as splendid and magnificent as the other one, in fact this place feels more like an office cubicle, a generic plastic strip mall spot that, just as the other PSC represents everything that was great about what America once was, represents everything that is not great about what America has become.
