I got a package of maple cream dark chocolate... chocolates... and they are SO GOOD (not to mention very reasonably priced). I am happily impressed with the chocolate quality. They are also completely stocked for Easter (I visited the weekend before) and this is now my go-to bunny spot. Parking was easy, staff was friendly, and everything was easy to find and clearly labeled. Really can't get better than that. Oh, and supporting a small locally owned business? Heck yes.

I would much rather spend my money with the local business than buy this stuff from a grocery store. They let you know they appreciate your purchase.

I walked around and didn't notice any plant based, allergy free options but that doesn't mean there aren't any, I just didn't see any as I made my walk through. What I did notice is that chocolate is ridiculously expensive and with all that I've learned about chocolate, I can't help but wonder if it's even chocolate. I didn't ask either... all I know for sure is that everyone says this place has the best chocolate in town so I'm here buying a few basket stuffers. Before coming here, I stopped at Fowler Chocolates around the corner and no one was there so this place must be the place to buy chocolate. I watched the ladies at the registers ask everyone before me if they were rewards members and when they said no, they asked if they'd like to be. They forgot to ask me though. I overheard someone say it was 10 percent off today, must've been for members only, I didn't get a discount. I will be enjoying my dark chocolate tonight though, thank you Wahl's.

I even got to try a sample of the peanut butter sponge clusters before purchasing which was great. The loganberry sponge is good but it tastes more like a raspberry to me than the traditional loganberry. It was still good and their sponge candy is some of the best I've ever had. It's perfectly sliced and covered on every corner so there are no dry spots. Very good production on the candy pieces.

The lady behind the counter was super polite and very helpful with my selections. I typically do my chocolate shopping at one of the competitors stores however I thought I would try Watson's chocolate and my first impression was very high. One of the items I purchased was orange sponge candy and she had a little concern that maybe some of it wasn't up to the high standards that they try to abide by so she asked if you check the box first. She explained that during the summer time sometimes sponge candy doesn't survive the trip for too long so no problem I said she gloved up and checked all of them, found a couple that weren't passing her quality control standards so she replaced them. I took that box and a couple of other selections, paid and left. One of the other items I tried was fudge meltaway which I had never actually had before. Personally my wife and I didn't care for it however that is probably just our personal palate coming into play as I'm quite certain it wasn't prepared improperly or anything. The coconut patties were very good and the orange sponge candy honestly some of it was kind of chewy. The fact that she had some concern over the quality of this and felt the need to check it kind of threw up a little bit of a red flag for me and after getting it home and having some I'd have to say I'm a little disappointed. I'm not by any means a connoisseur of sponge candy or anything however if what she said was true about it staying fresh during the summer months and obviously she had some concern that it may not have been, why wouldn't you just pull all of it off the shelf and make more? I mean I used to manage a restaurant and it's the same idea in my opinion, if you're not happy with the food going out, don't send it. I would rather have purchased just milk chocolate sponge candy and been reassured that they didn't have orange because it failed their quality check. So I took one star off what would have been a five star review for that reason, the other one I took off because I couldn't find the building. If you approach this location from the side that I did, the side that faces a little strip mall with a good sized parking lot, there is no signage of any kind anywhere that says hey this is a store that sells chocolate. It just looks like a house sitting on a separate property off to the side. My GPS said I was there, I'm driving around the parking lot for 5 minutes looking at all of the store fronts trying to find Watson's chocolate, and it doesn't exist. I finally put my GPS on walking directions and found myself approaching like I said what looked like somebody's big old house... And I didn't even feel comfortable doing that until I got about 6 ft from the door where there's a sheet of paper sized sign that says Watson's chocolate and has the hours posted. I mean seriously something that could be seen from the road would have been nice, something that could have been seen from the parking lot would have been even better. Apparently if you approached this from the other direction there's a great big sign so I would have had to have driven past it not realizing it and did a u-turn and then I would have said oh there it is. The lady working inside like I said was very super polite and I suggested that to her and she kind of looked at me and said the owners are aware of it but they haven't done anything about it yet. I'm guessing nobody local has a problem because yeah they probably know where this place is however I live over 3 hours away and didn't have a clue. So yeah I'm kind of mixed as far as my opinion of the actual chocolate, I might go back and try a couple other selections and see how they taste. If I do I will try a different sponge candy, maybe one that sells more often so the stock is rotated more often.

When you enter, if you take a left you end up in the Candy Shop, and if you take a right you end up at the Ice Cream Shop. We did a quick pass through of the Candy shop, they have quite the selection, and the lady who was working at the time was incredibly friendly. The candy itself seemed to be a bit on the pricy side for what it was. On to the Ice Cream shop! They had quite a decent selection of flavors, and the day happened to be buy 1 get 1 free Pie slice day, so that is what we did. We went for once slice of the Apple Pie, and one Slice of the Peanut Butter Pie, to share. While the price was good for the pies, considering one slice was free, both slices seemed stale, and the apple pie seemed well underbaked. It was very clean inside, and we had the place to ourselves. I love tipping for good service, when I paid, I tipped 20% even through the employee seemed less than thrilled we were there. Not certain what the tip was for as we ended up having to go grab our own desserts, as well as bus our own table.

You should all leave your Holmes and come out and try Sponge Candy. It doesn't matter Watson TV…read more You'll love it. Try it here, and try it from Alethea's in Clarence. This is the pretty expensive little Buffalo area chocolate chain store which has a bunch of locations around and about and their sponge candy famously gets put inside ice cream which is absolutely delicious. Have you ever had ice cream with chunks of sponge candy in it? Then you haven't lived! Anyway both of the reviews on this page are incorrect because as much as I love Julie, orange chocolate is horrendous and awful. Orange you glad I clarified that? And as much as I love Watson's it isn't even close to being the best sponge candy in the area... because Alethea's - which is not a chain which is why some in the Southtowns for example have never tried it and can't make the claim Watson's is the best - is twice as good as anything else in the world. So while he is right that it's pretty damn good here, Alethea's the greatest sponge candy or chocolate of any kind in the region and maybe in the whole country. And I've tried all the ones in town and plenty of American made chocolate from everywhere so I don't say that lightly. But I do say this lightly... (whispers) come to bed Bae...

Just the opposite happened. We weren't rushed at all as we wandered around checking things out and talked to the guy working about the different kinds of sponge candy. Not being Buffalo natives we actually never had it before moving here. Been here a while now but am still amazed at the fascination. That being said. It actually was very good. Park Edge sells it in logs rather than the squares I'm used to seeing. My husband thought the chocolate was a bit thick but I'm under the believe if you're eating chocolate then there's no such thing as too much. Personal taste. We got the dark chocolate and it was excellent, creamy and smooth with a bit of a carmel flavor on the sponge interior. We also purchased some sugar free chocolates which is what I normally eat. Today I tried the peanut butter filled. Lol you don't want to eat too much of that at one sitting. The chocolate was just as good as the regular which is no small feat. Sugar free chocolate can taste pretty bad with an bitter aftertaste if not made properly. Didn't have that problem here. It was so good! We'll be back. 2021-151
