First of all, all the ladies working were very friendly! Kindness always goes a long way for me! Also with the orders I picked up, there was a little wait, because they truly make things fresh! I was really blown away by the assortment of Easter chocolate! I mean almost every theme you can think of, they have chocolate to represent it! I had to hold myself back from muting myself an amazing purse and high heel made of chocolate! All of my exclamation points are totally relative to my amazement lol (I am also thinking of Elaine Benes right now for any fellow Seinfeld fans). What I did buy was a giant music note of chocolate for my son's Easter basket .. he makes music and I am excited to give him this... And to mention: although the largest variety was milk chocolate, there is plenty of dark chocolate and white chocolate available too! I will update my review when I come back to try a dessert one of these days!

We also tried some of their amazing sponge candies that we have never had in Texas. We ended up ordering a lot of candy to have shipped home and a gift certificate for our NY friends. The quality of their candy is excellent, and their ice cream is so delicious. Y'all are so lucky you have King Condrell's locally! I can't wait to visit New York again and visit King Condrell's! Also, as an aside, you upstate New Yorkers were so kind and fun! We met so many great people!

It's a bit pricey but you get to sample all their flavors which is a nice perk. The atmosphere…read morefeels off as it doesn't really have an aroma of popcorn - they make their popcorn in their flagship store in Lockport. I am all about supporting local but a few tweaks here and there could make this location feel more cozy. Also, I'd go with tile floors as opposed to the carpet - it doesn't feel 'clean' with the carpeting in my opinion. The person who waited on me was very friendly and accommodating, giving me a bit of history on the shop while I shopped. I think it would be great if they made some of their popcorn on site to give it more of a fresh feel. One bummer is they don't have kettle corn - the employee said it's because the process gunks up the popcorn maker. This is one of my favorites and I was hoping they'd have it. They do sell a brand of microwave kettle corn that they recommend - no thanks. I forgot to add that none of their popcorns are guaranteed gluten-free - you can read the ingredients to check but they could always have cross-contaminates - just a warning if you have Celiac Disease.

Having lived in Williamsville from 1997 - 1999, we fell in love with Alethea's and sponge candy…read more Last fall, we took our neighbors here in Texas to Buffalo & Niagara Falls. They had never been to the area and we made sure to take them to Alethea's And introduce them to Buffalo's finest sponge candy. Last week was our aunt's 95th birthday. She loves chocolate and we wanted to send her some for her birthday. I saw that we could order candy online, but I called the store directly to see if someone could deliver it to her (she lives less than 2 miles from the store). I spoke with Teddy. He was wonderful. I explained what I wanted and he said they normally ship even locally. When I told him where our aunt lived, he said that he, or one of his associates, would be happy to deliver it in person. Teddy delivered it that evening. It was a great start for our aunt's birthday the next day. She was delighted with the sponge candy and chocolates. I had asked Teddy if we could have some sponge candy delivered to us in Texas. He told me that offered an ice pack for an additional $5 to keep it cool enough to survive hot weather. I ordered some candy and it was delivered 2 days later. Sadly, the candy was in the UPS truck from 9:30 a.m. until delivered that evening at 5 p.m. Even with the ice pack, the Texas heat was too much. I took pictures of the melted candy and sent to Teddy. He immediately responded and apologized and said he would contact me when he was back in the store. He called and said that he didn't want to try shipping a replacement box of sponge candy, but credited the entire amount back to my credit card. Outstanding candy and outstanding customer service. I will try again this fall to have some shipped to us in Texas when the weather cools down. Highly recommend Alethea's for those living in the local area as well as for shipping (when the weather is cooler).
