I am always a huge fan of good customer service and this place has it! The first time I went the pizza was not great. The waitress was actually horrified with the pizza so she didn't charge us and gave us once to take home. Last time we both had the fish sandwich and the food was good. We enjoyed an awesome lunch on a bitterly cold January day. They were not busy at lunch time so we had the bar to ourselves. For an appetizer we had the arancini and it was amazing! Two giant risotto balls with slow roasted pork and served piping hot with mozzarella & marinara sauce. My husband had the X-Tudo Burger - an enormous burger served with American cheese, bacon, a fried egg and piled high with crispy onion rings. It was cooked perfectly and was juicy and flavorful. I had the bourbon steak tips and the Apple bacon Brussel sprouts. The best roasted sprouts I've ever had -served with smoked bacon, honey crisp apples and sweet maple syrup. This is a bar with a few tables thrown in on the side. I am completely fine with this as long as the service and food are good. The service was fine. Nothing spectacular but not lacking either. The food was a different story. We started with the bruschetta and calamari. The calamari was a generous portion with a too-small serving of marinara sauce and the batter was pretty bland. The bruschetta was pretty tasty. There was one with roasted peppers and capers, one with balsamic sautéed spinach and one with mozzarella (and maybe sun dried tomatoes). I only tried the first two. Entrees were just ok. Everything was edible, but burgers ordered medium rare were cooked medium well to well. Fries were soggy not crispy. I kept eating them in hopes I would find a crispy one. I gave up halfway through. Others with salads and pasta seemed to enjoy their dishes. Overall, this place worked for what we needed (somewhere loud enough to drown out the crying of a baby), while having dinner and drinks in a casual atmosphere. read more

I live up the street and had just noticed that this place wasn't Helen's anymore (what a dump that was). All the reviews on here seemed good, so my family and I gave it a try. The place is incredibly small, which isn't a problem, but somehow they play live music in there at some point, but I just don't know where they would have space. It seems like it would be a fun, regulars hosting kind of pub, but the atmosphere is lacking. The service is okay - they have a great beer & wine list, but the music was so loud and so random that it was hard to have a conversation with someone sitting across from you. Now onto the food. My boyfriend and I got the calamari, which was tasty. Not the best I've ever had, but then again, I didn't expect it to be. My parents had the bruschetta which they enjoyed. Main course, I had the chicken saltimbocca, which once again was just okay. I feel like I've made the same, if not better, at home. Everyone else felt pretty much the same about their meals. Overall I would say come here for beers later on the weekend, especially since it is way less sketchy looking than the Landing Pub. read more

Four Square is a great choice for drinks, dinner, lunch -- or whatever in-between. I have gone with the wife and kids, alone, on a date night, with friends to rally before heading in town for the night. Never disappointed, always enjoyed both the food and service. The first dish I had is still my favorite -- the meatloaf -- although it is not currently only the menu. The Chicken Saltimbocca was also replaced, but there is a healthy rotation on the menu and we have never been disappointed. Although it is fair to say it is a lot better than it is was -- our first visit was fine (day 3 out of 5 stars) but in the last year it is has been a more eclectic menu, as well as more consistency on both the drinks and food quality. It still isn't Tosca, but that is probably the closest and most accurate comparison point. You won't be disappointed. read more

We've been to Four Square many times, finally I've had the time to yelp. Tonight we started with the Four Square salad, mixed greens, tomatoes,red onion, goat cheese,craisins, and pumpkin seeds. Luckily the creamy balsamic comes on the side, since it tastes too delicious to be low-cal. The sole piccata was a special of the day. It sounded interesting and was not a disappointment. Served with mashed red potatoes and perfectly cooked green beans,it was delicious. The steak tips were tasty and tender. The special are usually creative so make sure you check the board before you look at the menu. The bartender was friendly and service was prompt. The Four Square has a great selection of local craft beers, bottled and on tap. If you have room for dessert try the bread pudding. read more

This place is definetly needed in the Weymouth Landing area.. Its good that its getting away from the 'rough around the edge' neighborhood it was once known as. The spot is great, across from El Sarape. Plenty of on-street parking too. The space inside is nice, some hightops, some booths and some tables. The bar seats about 20-22 i'd say. The beer and wine menu is excellent (no liquor , yet anyway) Lots of good local and internationals beers. I'm a big fan of the Blue Hill's beers they have, and the fisherman's brew from Gloucester. The pizza is pretty good, we've had the buffalo and margherita pizza..both great..althought the buffalo was very messy. The arancini was good too, beyond that I haven't eaten much there yet. The only complaint is, they have bands play on weekends in a very tight space, next to the kitchen.. I'm no expert on acoustics, but I think they'd be better off if they had acts that were solo.. Came here with my cousin and I have to say this place was pleasant. Place was clean dim lighting I like how you can see the kitchen from the dining room and our server was also the bartender service was good. For the drinks I had a bloody mary taste was delish but I feel that it could have been stronger for the price and he askednif i wanted it spicy i said yes wasnt spicy at all .we got the buffalo chicken dip with flatbread it was decent, creamy , not to spicy so I wish thier was more heat. I had the burbon steaktips this was great mashed potato were realy good got steak tips cooked med rare perfectly cooked and greenbeans and tomatos were bland. My boyfriend and I moved into the area 6 months ago and have been to this place numerous times. The bartenders are always super friendly, the pizzas fresh, and the rest of the food is fantastic as well. Big fan of the soy ginger wings, the BBQ pulled pork sandwich, and the mac and cheese. Nice beer and wine selection (no hard liquor license yet) and varied appetizer menu from bruschetta (3 different styles), irish nachos, wings, fries, etc. Pizzas, burgers, paninis, and entrees geared towards comfort food round out the made from scratch menu. It has been about 2 months since our last visit and wow- things went downhill quick. I always order the pasta bolognese- a rich hearty homemade sauce and fresh pasta. Tonight's dinner was just the opposite of that. Tasteless, bland, and clearly dried pasta has replaced this once great dish. It was busy, but the waitress literally dropped the food, never to return. No drinks for our dinner, dirty plates left on the table. She dropped the check and said "sorry for the terrible service". Are you kidding me?? I couldn't believe it. Sure it was busy, we get it but not even to ask if we want drinks, how the food was or if we wanted something else. Diners have many options in the south shore. They went downhill fast since the last time I was here. My seafood rissoto tasted like something from Chef Boy-R-Dee. Just covered in an overpowering tomato sauce and killed any flavor from the mussels, shrimp, and fish. It could have been chicken or tofu and tasted the same. My wife ordered a burger that was a burnt hockey puck. After sending it back they somehow managed to burn the outside to charcoal while leaving the inside raw. Literally raw, cold to the touch. Seven of us went yesterday ... Never been before since none of us live in the area. We were hungry after racing at F1. The mac and cheese is YUMMY! Very cheesy and delicious! We got all 3 kinds. I got the blue cheese burger-also delicious! The fries were great- light and crispy. We also got arancini....sooo good! The only thing I would not recommend is the seared tuna. Thankfully I have some self-control, otherwise would spend all night sitting at Four Square's bar. This pub has a welcoming atmosphere and the food is delicious. Family favorites include the steak tips with mashed potatoes and the buffalo chicken pizza. Unlike some pubs in the area, the bartender moves up and down the bar quickly making sure everyone is accommodated, and if you are sitting at one of the tables the waitstaff is always nearby making sure you have everything you need. I love Four Square for their delicious burgers and low-key atmosphere. It is a tiny restaurant with a long bar and 6-7 tables lined up along the wall. Recently, they have upgraded to a full bar. I've probably tried half of the menu, but their Classic American Burger is what got me hooked. The owner is a really nice guy, and the bartenders and waitresses are also really accommodating. I was so excited to have this place open up, it's a very cute little place with a great selection of beers, but I've been there twice now and was disappointed with the service and the food was just OK. My advice, great place to go with friends to grab a burger and a couple beers or maybe catch up over a glass of wine but I wouldn't recommend anything besides the burgers. I really did not like the pizza which is crazy because I've never met a pizza I didn't like until now, it was too undercooked, practically just raw dough. I wasn't impressed. Someone once told me that when talking about something, you should do the end point first (EPF) so there is it. The restaurant was nice. A good vibe. I was surprised when we walked in and saw how nice it was. We grabbed a two seater by the window which made for good a good view. I was surprised when I opened the menu. I was expecting more of a pub food type menu but it as a little more upscale than that. I found the menu to be limited with just a couple items that I would consider eating. We started off with the arrancini appetizer. The outside was chewy. Which is unfortunate because the inside was pretty yummy. We both ended up getting baked mac and cheese (mine with chicken, his with bacon) for dinner. It wasn't bad. But it certainly wasn't good or anything that I would pay for at a restaurant. It was basically lots and lots of egg noodles with cheese sauce. There also wasn't much "baked" about it. I noticed a couple bread crumb on the top. Service was very good. Our waitress and the girls who dropped the food off were very friendly. Lots of people at the bar and the bartenders seemed very interactive. I will come back and try something else. Perhaps the steak tips or to split on the pizzas. Since we just moved to the area, it would be nice to have a decent restaurant in the Landing. We've been here occasionally since it opened, and the food was very good though I never bothered to write a review. Sometimes we found the service slow. But my wife just got a gift certificate, and I was craving a good burger, so we went here for a late lunch/early dinner 4pm Saturday. It was excellent. There was no waitstaff; we were waited on by the bartender. Got the buffalo cheese dip and it was delicious. Wife got shrimp florentine and loved it. I got the X-Tudo burger and it was one of the best burgers I've had. Cooked perfectly medium, but with a nice tasting char on the outside and very juicy. Fries were among the best I've ever had.
