Pizzas are incredible. They're bar style but have a little bit of a crust which is different from other bar pizza. The Caesar salad was one of the best ones I've had if not the best on the south shore. I ordered it with steak tips and they were good too. Espresso martini: not great but drinkable. Nachos were pretty good but not great-- the cheese is a little mild for my taste, but I'm glad that they have the option to add chili I've come here for trivia teice. Fowler House Cafe has a dining room which is a bit quieter and their bar side. The waitress there was friendly, quick and tentative. This is your typical American bar restaurant. The menu was fairly extensive, and portion was big. Food: Margarita pizza: Very thin crust pizza. Crispy bottom and loaded with fresh toppings. There was a cheese pull. Prime rib: this was their special of the day. The prime rib was cooked medium rare, very tender. The au jus was salty and flavorful. Enough for two meals. Carrots were sweet--some were soft and some were still hard. Seafood Fra Diavolo: Had ordered this dish in many Italian restaurants around Boston and I could never taste the spice. This has a good kick to the spice! Perfect! Overall: Food was good and standard. None really wowed me. I would come here again though. read more

Tried several different pizzas taking advantage of the buy 3 get 1 free cheese pizza which satisfied my pregnant sister in law's craving for almost everything and allowed for leftovers. I had an absolutely horrible experience at the Fowler house. Me and my friends came to have dinner there and we ordered appetizers. We got the sampler platter and I will say the potatoes were pretty cold. The chicken tenders were okay, but otherwise it was very mediocre. It felt like they took it out of the freezer and just warmed it up in the microwave. After we ordered our main dishes I noticed something in the corner of my eye. There was a family of mice not only on the floor 10 ft across from us but also they were parading across the seats. We brought this to our waitresses attention, and she simply said we've been having problems for a while due to construction. No apology or sense of "this is gross". My family has eating here since its original opening. Now, since I moved 8yrs ago I get to come back once a year for holidays. Fowler is slowly dropping standards and values in hospitality and service over the years. This was a new low for the neighborhood friendly bar room. I sat there for 10mins and no one said anything to me. Your staff saw me and a food runner walked by me twice but nothing. There was one bartender worried about service bar and her 5 regulars at the opposite end of me. I hope they tipped her well. Manager could have put an extra bartender on to help but maybe that wasn't possible for a Friday after Christmas. Don't worry Fowler, the chap next to me apologized for you and said 'it's not usually like this...' unfortunately for me it was like this and I'll be back next year...hopefully I'll get to adjust my score to 5 stars. Ohh my broken heart! I used to frequent this establishment constantly and it was one of my favorite places in Quincy. I don't live as close anymore and came here recently for the first time in a long time. I'm sad to say I think the food has gone downhill significantly from what I remember... My husband and I came here on a Tuesday night as they advertised trivia and it sounded like fun. Surprisingly, the place was packed for a weeknight. We decided to order two entrees to share - the buffalo chicken sub and Philly cheese steak quesadilla. Unfortunately, both were terrible choices! The menu stated the buffalo chicken sub came with lettuce, tomato and blue cheese. However, when it arrived there was no lettuce or tomato or buffalo sauce or anything on the actual sub. It was just plain fried chicken placed in a dry sub roll with the buffalo sauce and blue cheese on the side. No mayo or condiments on the bread or chicken. Dry as a bone. What on earth?! The quesadilla provided no relief either as it was super greasy and flavorless. Tasted like there was barely any cheese added and also felt like it needed a sauce. We were drowning the quesadilla in the given sour cream & salsa but seems like that made it worse. We gave up and focused on the sub. Fortunately for us, the fries were just as delicious as I remember! Crispy and well seasoned on the outside, hot & soft on the inside. Yesterday I called Fowler House to make a reservation for last night. I was told they don't take reservations on the weekend but it wouldn't be a problem just showing up at 6:15 there would be plenty of room. I arrived at 6:15 the restaurant was crowded and the receptonist asked if I had a reservation. Of course the answer was no because they didn't take reservations on the weekend and that the wait would be between 30 minutes and 90 minutes. I don't know what the reservation policy is and I'm very reluctant to go back. What is the policy and will they inform the staff what the policy is supposed to be and post it on the website? read more

I apologize to the bartender who obviously didn't want me there and she had to go out of her way to wait on me. It must have been terrible for her considering I'm low maintenance, polite and tip well, the horror, the HORROR. We have been visiting family in Quincy for over 10 years and Fowler House is one of our favorites. There's been a lot of nit picking since the pandemic but these are hard times for restaurants. They are doing their best under hard conditions and it's easy to understand. Funny thing is that it's packed on weekends with a wait for a table so they must be doing things right. As a life long Q resident I have been to and gotten take out from Fowler many times. Tonight was a bit of a fail. We got two things for take out. 1) Turkey club and 2) steak tips. The Turkey club did not have bacon?!?! That kind of ruins the whole allure of a Turkey club. To me a Turkey club ALWAYS has bacon. The manu lists it with bacon. Some may think this is minor...but it kind of makes a difference Secondly I ordered steak tips (bbq) medium rare with baked potato with extra butter and extra sour cream. The positive is that tips still had pink in them. Still. The negative: there was no butter and no sour cream (even though I was very specific on extra for both)...which while disappointing didn't make a difference because the baked potato was brown inside and had a smell so it had to be thrown away. The veg of the day were carrots that were honestly having trouble holding form because they were sooooo mushy. Additionally because the carrots Im guessing were so waterlogged the entire container was sitting in a puddle of brown water from the water mixing with the BBQ sauce. Threw the carrots away too. When the bartender came over, I had politely asked how she made this drink so I could better assist with making it the proper way so I could enjoy, she abruptly stated "she did not know how she made it" and then said, "this is how we make this drink here." Came here on a Saturday around 4pm. The bar side was very full and we sat in the dining area. Food: We got a few appetizers which all were great. The chicken fingers were perfectly done and came with delicious honey mustard. The fried pickles were DELICIOUS! They had a different coating than how I normally get them and i loved the way it was done here.You had the juicy taste of the pickle but mixed with the crunch of the golden coating. They came with a chipotle dipping sauce which paired perfectly. Lastly we had the steak and cheese egg rolls which had a perfect amount of steak to cheese ratio. There were also what seemed to taste like caramelized onions in them which was a nice flavor twist. Service: Poor. My review is in need of an update. I like to come here for a quick bite to eat and wash the food down with plenty of Miller Light ($3 for 20 oz.). I like to get the cheese burger (always good but better if the cooks cook it the way I ask), also the cheeseburger club is amazing, and how can I forget their pizzas. The pizza is not the best but its cheap and you really could not ask for a better pie if you are there to get down to business downing some cheap beer. However I tend to avoid this place after sundown as I do not fit into the social scene since I did not go to high school in the South Shore. My little brother and I made a game of out of anything. We played unorganized street hockey with homemade chicken wire nets and discarded sofa cushion goalie pads. We taped up baseballs when the cover came off, played tackle football on cement with just a dusting of snow, stickball and hoop in the dark. When we got older, we got into organized sports. I've had a lot of coaches. Coached a few games myself. Jumpin Jimmy Devlin would direct me during rallies when we were down and needed a spark. He would yell out to third base. " Joey-Love... Let's get 'em going out there ". I was and still am quite good at heckling. My favorite coach was John Fowler. He was responsible for getting me to play in games like I did in practice. I thought of him today when I went to the Fowler House in Quincy, on Hancock st. It's pub food kicked up a bit. I went with the prime Rib Sandwich Au Jus. It was thinly sliced with cheese on crusty bread. It was the au jus that made it. Pan drippings and love makes it irresistible. I remember Mr Sullivan yelling at us early on Saturday Mornings....
