Like the place, when we go in person. They recently added an AI order taking system when you call in. I cannot express how much I hate this. I have exactly zero confidence that my order will be expressed correctly. the point of calling on the phone is that i get to speak to a human and ensure there is no confusion. This is a great place for dinner and drinks. They have a choice of seating at the bar or off to the side there is a dining area with plenty of tables. The menu has an excellent variety of appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, pizza and dinners as well. The last time I was there I got the sirloin steak tips with the mashed potatoes and mixed greens as my two side dishes. The steak tips were cooked to my liking and very delicious. I have also had their hamburgers before and they are also very good. The pizza here is always great as well. I usually sit in the dining area and the service there is quick and friendly. I love this bar. My family and friends love coming here and getting a pizza and some of the most delicious Guinness. This is what you think of when you think of bars in MA. Good alcohol, good food, sports bar atmosphere. The only thing I wish would change is the bathroom. The men's sink in the bathroom itself is directly next to the door so you fish bumping into the next person to walk in. It's also really small itself but I can blame my size and frame on that. Ordered 2 pies from Darcy's, the classic chicken pot pie and the shepard's pie. Both were decent in size and good but for me, lacked the meat. A true decor of the definition pub. They do also offer your standard American foods such as pizza, burgers and sandwiches. read more

Great Pub This is a great local Irish dive bar, CASH ONLY! You can use your credit card on the table side, but the bar doesn't take cash(there is an ATM). Went there a few weeks ago not busy at all. Older waitress seemed annoyed we were there she had 3 other tables and kept walking past us. She seemed highly annoyed with everything. Got 1 small glass of water the whole time. She literally dropped our food off (which was not what we ordered) and ran. We tried to get her attention and more water multiple times but never got it. So we eventually just ate the food and sat for another 30 mins finished plates waiting for a check that never came eventually went up to her and asked for the check which she replied I'm busy you'll have to wait (as if we had not been waiting for way too long) we really were so patient and still tipped 20% but would not go ever again read more

My girlfriend and I tried to eat here tonight around 6pm. I've wanted to try Darcy's for two years now and thought this was a good opportunity. We went in and sat down at a table. I got up and confirmed with the bartender that we were supposed to seat ourselves, since I hadn't noticed any signs on the way in. There were two waitresses who always seemed to be turned away. There was plenty of stopping by other tables asking if they need "anything at all", but we were never acknowledged. I sensed my girlfriend becoming more agitated as time went on. After around 25 minutes of being ignored, we left. Having worked all Saturday without breakfast or lunch, she was upset that I chose this of all places to go for dinner. After exiting, she told me "we're never coming back here again". Now I'm not happy, because I was really looking forward to trying this place. I understand that sometimes the staff is busy handling a wave of customers, and doesn't want to take on another couple of orders just yet, but I don't think customers should ever be flat-out ignored. Just stopping by our table and letting us know "there's a full house tonight so it might be a little while before I can get your order in" would have made a world of difference in putting us at ease and keeping us around. We've consistently had great experiences across the street at the Village Food Court, and we expected Darcy's (being another Common Market Restaurant) to be no different. A bad Irish pub in Iowa is forgivable, but in Quincy Massachusetts? Decent place, nice waitstaff (when they show up) and friendly patrons. The food? Almost insulting. This was some of the worst pub food I've had in the Boston area. Go here to drink, cry or sleep, but not to eat. I'm not sure the cook has ever seen or tasted an actual Shepherd's Pie, but he probably once drove drive past a Duchess Meat Pie laying on the side of the road. The "Shepherd's Pie" here was a dish filled with (good) beef chunks, a few bits of potato and 4 kernels of corn, all slathered with a strange white toupee of bland potato mash. As disappointing as that was, I felt downright deceived when the Fish and Chips arrived. The menu described it as "Harp battered scrod, Darcy's slaw and old bay tartar sauce". Our hearts sank when we learned that the latter is apparently just a euphemism for "2 packets of Heinz tartar sauce". The fish itself was thick, but dry and the appeared to be freshly shaken from a box of breaded industrial fish slabs. I'm quite sure it wouldn't know Harp if it was drowned in a vat of it. The service was poor, too. After sitting around for 10 minutes without a hello (and only 2-3 occupied tables in the area) we waved our hands and after a few nods someone finally came by and deigned to take our order. She dropped off the food and that was the last we saw of anyone until we resumed the frantic waving to get some extra condiments. And later, a final round of waving to beg for a check. But I'm not docking points for that... Everyone has an off night or a busy side room, or whatever, and I'm sure regulars have a better time. Here's the nice thing about Darcy's: I'm pretty sure nobody there will care if I write a bad review or don't come back. It was filled with lots of cheery townies knocking back Budweiser and watching the Bruins. They were happy to be there, and I'll leave them to it. I've been in quite a few times and it's always great. Nothing fancy, it's your typical dive bar, but great apps and pizza and even better drinks. Brittany was our server last time and she didn't miss a beat. It was quite busy the night I was in and she was running all over the place yet she still took the time to check on us and made sure our drinks were never empty. Awesome service! The key to a good bar is the bartender. Billy has been here for about 20 years, he knows what you drink, & is a great bartender. The foods good & consistent. This is a local friendly bar & they've got all the games on the TVs. Most people are pretty quiet & keep to themselves, one newer guy has been loud, obnoxious, & has been forward with the girls. Luckily, the bartender has seen it & told him to leave people alone. The guy's still there but we're hoping management will take swift action. read more

Went again, recently. Waited 45 minutes for potato skins and 2 ***tiny*** pizzas. Everything was COLD when it came out. Waitress told us it was because the kitchen stopped using some sort of pager they were using to let them know the orders were up so she didn't know our food had been sitting there for a while, getting cold. WHAT?? The place is the size of a freaking POSTAGE STAMP and you couldn't figure out that we'd been sitting there, beers empty, waiting...and waiting...and waiting? Do I want you to make us another one? Oh yeah! I'd love to sit here for another hour, thanks. Sad and surprising as this is part of the Fish-n-Chicken place (across the street) and Cafe Paris (had my bridal shower there) and those places are consistently good. read more

My boyfriend and I are new to the area and thought to try the local Irish pub. The ambiance was spot on. I want to like this place. Maybe if I went there slightly intoxicated and plan to drink more beer (because the wine is eh) and eat food that will potentially sober me up I would have been able to forget about my experience. The server was sweet and friendly but the food was unfortunately just not good. (Meatloaf and baked scrod). Maybe it was just a bad night in the kitchen. This place is aging and not so gracefully, its in desperate need of an overhaul from the kitchen to the bar, including some of the staff. Everytime i've been here service has been an issue. Last time i was there for lunch, there were 4 other people in the restaurant but it still took 10 minutes before we saw a menu and were asked if we'd like a drink, on top of that the waitress was a little too snippy for my liking and thought her wit was humorous but it was just annoying and embarrassing. When i thanked her for bringing my partner a clean fork she snapped "i didn't bring it for you" Nice. The previous time i was there i was in the bar area and it was almost impossible to get a beer unless you are a regular there, even some of them were struggling. The only redeeming feature was the chopped salad, very fresh served with grilled chicken and was a decent size. There are so many better choices around, this might have been a typical Irish bar 30-40 years ago, but its lost its way and doesn't resemble anything like any of the fine pubs you find in Ireland, its just sad and depressing.... read more

My husband and I went there for a second time. This was the only time we ordered food. Not that great but not terrible. I got the meatloaf and he got a burger, oh we started with wings. The wings were pretty good. My hubby liked his burger but from what I noticed the bun was too big (being in food service i notice things like that) he didn't complain about the burger, just said it was over cooked. The meatloaf was awful. It was cold and looked like dog food the way it was presented. Knowing meatloaf is not a sexy dish to start I didn't care that much. It was dry and swimming in store bought gravy. Their mashed potatoes were good. I ate maybe 1/4th and brought the rest home for the dog. Service was friendly and the regulars make it very homey. It was absolutely horrible! Seriously! Right from the very beginning the experience was dodgy. We sat down, and the table was filthy! We thought maybe they hadn't yet cleaned it, but the server was just going to put our menus and such down on the table. I had to ask her to wipe it. She was super friendly and wiped it...with a dirty rag that smelled horrendous. From there you would think it could only go up. Nope! To make a dreadful experience short: no drink menus, no verbal list of drinks available, food was gross- from appetizer (sampler which seemed like it was from the freezer section of Star Market) pizza was for most definite frozen, burger was well done and tough, fries cold, and steak tips were from the worst cut of meat, not well seasoned and just terrible. The three of us left over half our food. Oh yeah, and no free refills for soda!! We will not be reliving that experience, and unless you like to play dangerously, you should steer clear of Darcy's as well! read more

Waited a half hour for a waitress, had to get our own menus, a table sat AFTER my party and the waitress took their order. Waitress never came so we left. This is the first bar I ever really frequented. It's a little sketchy in the winter time, stuck in that narrow hallway with the old drunks who are there every night, but they're generally pretty easy going and the bartenders are all quick with the beer. There are TVs everywhere too, so it's a great place to catch a beer some friends. In the summer, though, there's a big patio that's off the beaten path, where people drink cheap draft beer and eat generic bar food. I've seen people get very rowdy out there, having all kinds of fun that would get you thrown out anywhere else. A few notes: -The bathroom is disgusting -Ordering mixed drinks is questionable. The bartenders are good guys, but they are there to maintain order in the place and keep the beer flowing, not to craft cocktails. Shots are served in highball glasses, so be careful with that too. -If you play anything other than classic rock on the jukebox one vocal drunk old guy or another will curse out your selection. -Unattended young women will probably be a little uncomfortable in the crowd. read more

Good stop by with some friends to grab a quick beer and maybe a game. Bit of a dive, but pizza is good- service can be spotty but always friendly. Has a very dark pubby atmosphere. Pretty small, lots of locals always sitting mostly quietly at the bar filling their tanks. Bar side can be a bit of a motley crew depending on the day/ hour of the day. Toss up between a 3 and 4 star depending on who you're with- Your friends Sully and Murph are definately welcome and would give this place a solid 4. read more

After my previous experience, a manager contacted me through Yelp and apologized, and sent me a gift certificate in the mail. Tiny, Irish, Dank and Friendly! I love it! Chicken Tender Sandwich is by far the best think on the menu and Kentucky Meltaway Pie is the ultimate desert. The restaurant is separate from the bar so it's great for families and sketchy old men! They also have take out which is awesome because there are about 14 tables in the whole restaurant. Sure its not a true Irish bar and the food is average pub fare but Darcy's is a mighty fine place to drink away your night. Its dark, friendly, and the beers are cheap. I got an import in a tall 23 oz glass for $3.75. That is freaking awesome. I also got the Darcy Burger with sweet potato fries for $8. Burger was cooked well but not that flavorful. The sweet potato fries were great - crunchy and tasty. Not bad but you'd be better off going somewhere else to eat and making this your drinking hole. It is what it is for an old school pub. No frills, nothing fancy. The servers and bartenders are always good, and the pizza is delicious. They are smaller sized bar pizzas and omg, yum. I recommended the honey mustard chicken pizza. For an appetizer, the cheese sticks are unlike anything I've ever had, and have gooey cheddar cheese inside. The crowd can be ehhh but 4 stars for the pizza! read more
