I happened to find this small cafe tucked in an office park while I was out for a morning walk from my nearby hotel. This is a solid choice for a quick breakfast or lunch if you're staying or working in the area. They have lots of sandwich options as well as baked goods, coffee and tea. The folks working there were all so welcoming and friendly. I really appreciated that!

We arrived around 9:30 AM for brunch. On a typical day, I would have ordered the breakfast croissant, but I was feeling adventurous. I tried the chicken sandwich, which was served with fries topped with shredded Pecorino Romano. While the bun was pleasantly toasted, the chicken (with mayo, lettuce, and cucumber) lacked flavor. It tasted under-seasoned and needed an extra element to elevate it--perhaps pickles, cheese, or maybe even a different sauce to complement the flavor of the mayo. I found myself alternating bites of the sandwich with the fries, which were nicely crispy. The saltiness of the Pecorino actually helped balance the milder flavor of the chicken. To drink, I had a hot Americano. It was flavorful, not too watery, and served in a beautiful black mug. I would recommend this cafe if you are in the Richmond area and looking for a relaxing place to spend time with family or friends!

We visited last night for a late light dinner since there were few other places open after 9 pm. We…read moreordered the bbq meat plate with bbq pork and roast pork, the deep fried salty squid with garlic, wonton Sui kau noodle soup and a deep fried dough stick. The bbq meats arrived warm and was very delicious, the pork was meaty and not dry, the crackling crust on the roast pork was seasoned well and crispy. These meats were accompanied by their in house bbq drippings. So good! The fried squid turned out to be an expensive disappointment. It was not spicy as we thought it was supposed to be, the batter was too thick; more batter than squid, the squid didn't taste as fresh either. We didn't finish the dish here because it was a bit oily so we took it home instead. I have always had a soft spot for wonton noodle soup from my childhood. Sui gao are a favorite too. This combo arrived with 3 large shrimp wonton and 2 giant Sui Gao with my noodles and soup. The flavour of these dumplings did not disappoint, my only criticism is that the noodles and the dumplings were overcooked or left too long on the pass before delivery. I missed the slight chewiness of the noodles and the wrappers on the dumplings were so transparent and limp, evidence that they had been in the poaching liquid too long. The Chinese donut was hollow inside and flat as well as late arriving which was annoying. Our waitress was very attentive in refilling our water and tea. The staff delivering our dishes were prompt. There was a bit of an English language communicate problem when our waitress took our order but we laughed it off later. The place was quite busy already when we entered but we managed to get a nice quiet corner table. The restaurant got even busier during our meal. This business is likely what made my wonton and dough stick overcooked and late. I did kind of find it annoying to have the hostess at the door point out their cash only sign before getting menus to seat us. There is an ATM located near the exit door too to emphasize the cash only point. I really wanted to jive this place a 4/5 but the disappointments were hard to ignore. The total bill for our light dinner cane to $86.00! We won't be doing this again for another long while.

We were given the menus and an iPad with images of what each food looks like. We ordered an order of green beans with pork bean curds, an order of the Chinese donut with almond milk and an order of Hong Kong style congee with minced beef. The congee was very smooth and fine. The Chinese donut with the almost milk was so good! I can eat that everyday. (Maybe not) And the green beans were nicely seasoned, a tad bit too salty for me but it paired nicely with the congee. I've been to this location in the past and surprised that the interiors look different than before. I am glad this place is still doing well after a decade.

The Story Cafe was one the few places that are close to the airport, open early in the morning, and have a high rating. The Story Cafe does live up to the good ratings! The restaurant was spacious with lovely vintage-like decors. The food portion was generous. We had their Fly Me to The Bennies with Salmon, Crab Cake Bennies, Egg In Purgatory, and Duck Confit Hash. All dishes were delicious. I had an oat mocha and to my surprise, there's a really good latte art, which is uncommon in metro Vancouver for drinks with oat milk. The service was normally good, no complaints! Highly recommend The Story Cafe for an early breakfast near the airport.

I've been a regular client over the years,…read moreand have come for weekend brunch, lunch on weekdays, dinners, and even the Thursday live music nights. This is a Saturday at about 3:10pm. Upon entry, we saw only two or three tables occupied. Our waitress took her time coming up to us, and didn't really greet us. She just said they only have the Happy Hour menu as it was after 3pm. We never had Happy Hour before, but based on our past experiences, we were quite sure the smaller menu will be fine. I told her there are 4 of us, and she had to look around the restaurant, and then a looooong gaze at her tablet showing the tables. She pointed to a table towards the wall with the record player. We approached the table, then my wife wanted to sit at the end table behind ours. We asked the waitress, and she said it was reserved! OK, fine. We'll settle into our first table. We found it odd as reservations are not allowed during brunch and happy hour until 5pm. We were there shortly after 3pm. She then brought us menus, but only cared to bring two, when she knows there are four of us. Not a word, and just walked away. I turned towards her but she was already walking away. By this time, I didn't bother anymore. I just walked over myself and grabbed the menu. Then she didn't serve us anymore. Another Asian young man then came with the water bottle. A bit more eye contact this (yay) but still no smile. Just asked us what to drink. Took order and stepped away. We then ordered our dishes, and the food came promptly, except for the flat bread, which came more towards the end when other items are nearly finished. All good, but all of us just felt a whole different vibe this time, all having been here before. Sure enough, the table behind was still unoccupied by the time we left an hour later. Hmm. We were actually there to celebrate my birthday but we weren't really in the mood after not one but two servers seem to need more training. Oh, and heads up. When you call, you'll be talking to AI, not a human being! This should be a 1 star but the good food saved the day.

I remember my grandma taking me to the WS in the 70s (oh my do I date myself) & me freaking out like a little school girl, over the glass that I had my drink in. I wanted that glass so badly I cried. Grandma tried to buy it for me. Gawd bless her soul. Back in the day the WS would draw families in with their kids via The Pirate Pack. The kids meal would be served on a Pirate Pak - a paper / cardboard boat & my brother & I, in fact every kid would go absolutely bonkers! Not sure if that still happens today? Ah those we're the days when I had no bills or stress. I had not been to the WS in over 30 years nor did I miss it. A few years ago, the WS went through a major renovation updating the interior decor at all their restaurants. However, it still feels old to me. My Monty Burger was just ok. Couldn't really taste the 'secret sauce' WS is famous for. My cocktail - good. The highlight & sensation - my chocolate milkshake - it was excellent. I almost might go back just for that. These days the crowd at WS is mainly of the geriatrics type, according to my observation. This older generation must have come here frequently as kids & as a result, still love the WS today. Kudos to them. The WS continues to be a popular restaurant to eat at for many - I can't explain why. Each to his own. Do I need to go back anytime soon - nah.
