Best restaurant we have had the pleasure of eating at. Vex Ellen food and service! Randy and Holly Ramsdell

Have tried most things on the menu, and am always trying new things that they rotate in. Everything I've had has been amazing, except for one dish but they made it right. Phenomenal service and the best food. This is our go to spot for dinner! You won't be sorry and will probably get addicted like us :) read more

Wow, what a great dining experience, great menu, try the whitefish! Terrific service, owner active in the kitchen, love the atmosphere.

Always good and fresh food. The service is also always friendly. Our only concern is that we were told an hour wait which ended up being an hour and a half. We liked the yelp get in line app and was disappointed to learn they were no longer using. This would of helped in avoiding the wait. Will try the service they offer on their website next time now that we know it's there. It would have been nice if we could have been directed there through yelp as a transition period. read more

This point restaurant is simply the best. We had an awesome meal that was cooked perfectly. Our server, Andrea is the best! She was right there when we needed anything and was unflappable. Always smiling and enjoying her work. It's always a joy to come here! read more

This place is very popular and when full it is loud. But there are plenty of reasons it's as busy as it is, mostly it's because their food is great, service solid and well the desserts are amazing. Had a house salad and duck. They were nicely prepared and delicious. Why I liked most was watching the wait staff work together to meet the needs of all their guests. Oh and the online reservation list is a great way to manage those that are waiting. read more

Get here. GET HERE! By far our best dinner in a long time and certainly the best in the area. Using the Wait list app we only had a short time before we were seated. The decor is nice, simple but cozy. It was very busy at 6pm. Outstanding and varied drink selection, beers, wines, ciders, mixed drinks.... whatever you want. I enjoyed a Big Dogg Vanilla Porter, the best i ever had. Our server Brittany was full of smiles, very helpful but not pushy. Our orders were on point, hot with a great presentation. I got the Maple mustard ribs, my wife the NY strip. Both were cooked perfectly with simple but we'll cooked sides. Interesting thing about the meat, absolutely no stringy gristle or fatty nodules. All the food is locally sourced which isn't a huge deal for me but I see the benefit now. The ribs were top 5 all time for me. Lastly there was dessert....oof. Check my pic out for the massive selection. All made in house by their own pastry chef. Huuuugge portions and delightful flavor. We'll be back just for sweets. Not gonna be cheap to eat here but outstanding value for every aspect. read more

Service was exceptional. Food was phenomenal. The Truffle mushroom mac and cheese was so delicious! Wait staff, bartenders, and manager are so friendly read more

Nice date night meal. Rare beer flight options. Friendly bartender. Another local Plainwell gem.

Has been my favorite since we discovered it a few years ago. They always make date night just a step better.

Love the place. Great food great service. Always a favorite for the whole family. I recommend the maple ribs and my wife loves the sirloins steak. Make sure to order your favorite desserts early. They are an all around favorite with the locals. read more

Excellent food. Best desserts. Carrot cake is outstanding. It is a down to earth type of place. Clean.

Almost don't want to rate here as this gem might be better staying hidden, but here goes! This is the go to place when you want pure taste satisfaction, meals of this quality would be 2x to 4x expensive in a bigger city, excellent service, gourmet food, deserts, drinks, all very good, possibly best in Southwest Michigan, certainly in the top 5 read more

What a wonderful experience we had here. The food was delicious, the desserts were to die for, and the service was excellent. The ambience was a bit loud, making conversation difficult at times, but there was so much that was just superb. We will definitely return soon. read more

Amazing from start to finish. My wife and I happened upon this place after visiting the Gilmore Car Museum. The drinks, appetizers, entrees, desserts, and service were all top notch. We wish there was a place like this close to our home. read more

Have been to Four Roses MANY times - always outstanding. Came for lunch today with my husband for our anniversary. Arrived at 11:20 and there were two tables with patrons. The rest were empty. Drinks and salads came quickly. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. 35 minutes later, I inquired about our food and was told by the waitress, "Any minute now". 10 minutes later....and seeing two tables receive their plates having arrived AFTER us....I inquired as to the hold up. "We got a little backed up with take out orders". What does this even mean?? How can people arriving AFTER us receive their meals if they're backed up with take out orders? Told waitress we were frustrated, she apologized and said she'd talk to the manager. I see her talking to the manager.....and neither of them approached us again. After more waiting, we left at 12:10 because I was on my lunch break. Sadly, our anniversary lunch was ruined. Very disappointed. Perhaps Four Roses needs to screen their servers a little better....and maybe the manager as well. read more

This is hands down our favorite place in town. Great service, food and drinks. Their beer selection is quite surprising, and always stocked with hard-to-find brews. They make great cocktails and also have a strong wine selection. Everyone loves their daunting dessert menu and everything we've ever had has been amazing. read more

I can't tell you how the food is as we never got to eat any... or even get seated. We used the Yelp app to get in line for a table before we even got there and it showed a 50 minute wait. An hour went by and we were told we still had to wait another 45-60 minutes. Mean what me we saw some friends at a table so sat down to have a drink with them while we waited. We ordered drinks and over 20 minutes went by and the drinks never came. We also witnessed horrible service for our friends while sitting there. Waitress barely came to the table and they waited 30 minutes to order dessert- so long that their kids were so done and couldn't sit anymore- they had to get it to go. Her drink also never came. After this horrible experience our friends did not get one cent taken off of their bill. Also- just to top it all off we saw 2 tables near us with no one sitting at them for about 30 minutes... which they totally could have sat us at. We have waited a long time to go here and finally made it to have probably the worst dining experience... and we didn't even get to "dine". And won't get to as we won't go back. Hope y'all have better luck. read more

Absolutely great food and service to match. Our group (6) came for dinner on a Friday night. With six in the party they accept reservations which critical for a larger group at this popular restaurant. The only reason I can't go with five stars is the overwhelmingly loud atmosphere in the restaurant. read more

Been waiting a couple years to come here... won't be back. Not sure why there's always such a wait, as this would indicate that there are lots of repeat guests, maybe it's just the low bar of west Michigan taste that has everyone thinking this is fine cuisine. Where to start... they ran out of 3-4 menu items while we waited for our waitress to bring back the drinks (including running out of a featured cocktail!?!). So after skipping the items that were crossed out, wife went with a filet and I had a hankering for fried chicken, so I ordered it and so did one of our dinner mates. 5 minutes later, waitress tells us only one left, so he switched to the chili rubbed flank steak. Apps came... caprese Salad was a small bowl of cherry tomatoes and mozzarella balls that looked more like Sam's club than locally sourced. Baked Brie looked good (I'm not a Brie fan so not sure on taste), but came with a big bowl of melted Brie and 5 small slices of toast. Not enough toast, so our friends were using the rolls to finish off the second half. The whitefish soup was good, I'll give them that. My "fried" chicken came out, and it was a tiny boneless breast with mushy breading and a twice as big boneless thigh with same mushy breading that was more Chinese than fried chicken. The "best" part was the fact that the skin was still on them, but wasn't deep fried and crispy, but instead was soft and gummy... I ate no skin and about half of the chicken before I'd had enough. Wife's filet was good, but as long as you cook it right, filet is hard to mess up... friends flank steak looked less than appetizing, and had mini bell peppers sliced on top that looked almost uncooked. He's normally a good eater, but left quite a bit behind, so I'd say it was less than great. His wife had ribs, they were good, but not special. Desserts were big, but also nothing special. Overall, I would highly recommend other options around KZO and skip this one, unless you are into ok food at fine dining prices. As our friend said, it mostly felt like a bad imitation of Canal Street Cafe in Augusta, which I would make the drive for anytime over this place. read more

I would highly recommend! Outstanding service and high quality food. My friend who is very critical about how he likes his steak cooked (Pittsburgh style) had his steak cooked to perfection. The waitress and Chef made his special request happen without any issues. read more

A limited menu, but with far more truly appetizing dishes than most restaurants have. Our group was uniformly of the opinion that the food was excellent and the salads & desserts were outstanding. Fine, friendly service, a good alcohol menu and a nice ambience round things off for a restaurant I would gladly drive an hour to eat at. We were also lucky to be there for live music, which was just the right volume; you could have a comfortable conversation without raising your voice or straining to hear. I can't emphasize enough how much thought and care has gone into everything, from the food prep onwards. read more

This is the best restaurant in the Plainwell/ Otsego area. The food is quality and worth the price. Service can be a bit slow if they are busy but if you are not in a hurry the atmosphere is relaxing. read more

Always great service . My favorite restaurant in Kalamazoo county . Hidden Little gem and The servers are always top notch. I average 100-150$ for my tab every visit this includes two entrees , a appetizer or two and usually a bottle of wine. Add another 50$ if you get the tomahawk ribeye. Great food for the price come as you are either suit and tie or basketball shorts they treat everyone the same and the atmosphere is great as well !! read more

Great restaurant with friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. Have tried almost everything on the menu and have yet to have a meal that didn't exceed my expectations. Our go to restaurant when we're celebrating an occasion or just want to grab a gourmet dessert to go. Highly recommend to anyone in the area. read more

Our experience at Four Roses was outstanding! Everything, EVERYTHING our party of 5 had was delicious! The only negative thing I have to say is don't plan on stimulating conversation after your meal comes out. All you will be hearing is "Mmmm"s and "Ohmygosh!"s and "Here, you have to try mine!"s until every plate is clean! Our server, Taylor was so professional, so efficient, that she was just the cherry on the cake. Oh, wait - THE DESSERTS! Two words - Parsnip Cake! Winning dessert of the night! read more

Worth the wait. Just get a drink from the bar. Taylor's service was great. The food was cooked as ordered. Deserts are to die for. Coffee was great. No better way to spend an evening. read more

Terrific prices, and the world's best and longest dessert menu. Out of this world.

The food has always been great and we've only had one issue with one waitress who since improved. My complaint has to do with wait process. Last two wait times were extensive but we waited while a seat opened up at the bar. Ended up eating there as we were pretty much forgotten the first time but had a great time with bar staff. Second time, same extensive wait but just opted after a while to eat at bar. I was encouraged to download Yelp app after being told a different time they were having trouble with it and best just to come in and get on list (that was before aforementioned two "bar" seats/meals). I downloaded Yelp, got in line at 5:00. We were #32 and looking at 7:07 pm seating. We checked in at 6:40 to 4R. Hostess found us on list and said it would be at least another hour. We obviously left. I get the wait but each time we were told a time, the wait was well over the time given. I love this place but it's going to be a long time before we go back. read more

This place is wonderful! Their Filet Mignon covered in hollandaise sauce is excellent, the salads are fresh, and the rolls are hot and buttery and delicious! Service can be slow when they're busy, but I don't mind, as long as I have my glass of wine and something to munch on. Their desserts take up an entire chalkboard! I want to try other dishes here but the steaks are so good I can't! read more

Very nice restaurant, great food and desserts. My favorite dish is Whitefish Grenoble, which I've had several times for dinner and felt it was perfectly prepared. I was there for lunch recently and ordered a Whitefish burger. It did not have the consistency of any burger I've had previously, was mushy, and I could not detect any fish flavor. It was served with some type of dill sauce, right on the "burger", not on the side. The server did not say it would be served with a dill sauce, which I don't care for. Cheap frozen fish sticks from the grocery store would have been tastier. Needless to say, it was a big disappointment and a dismal lunch. However, I will return for the Whitefish Grenoble. I'm surprised they keep the Whitefish burger on the menu. read more

Food was better than S@m's, but that's not saying much. They ran out of an item after I ordered but gave it to the man sitting directly behind us who arrived and ordered after we did because the server, Brittney, put in salad order first and held lunch order. Then, when I expressed my concern about the matter, she made no effort to send over management or right the situation. My substitute order of trout was small, dry, and served with a pile of white rice four carrot rounds and 10 green beans. The capers on top if the dry trout rolled off onto the plate as I tried to eat the unsauced and disjointed meal. My husband enjoyed his house burger but could have ordered similar elsewhere. Overall, I was not impressed by the hype. We've waited a year to try this place my family raves about, but I will need to wait another year to get the bad taste out of my mouth. read more

This out of the way restaurant deserves more notoriety than it might receive. The food is truly a labor of love - the blackboard menu constantly changing with new food and recipes. My favorite appetizer has to be the pork stomach although I've never had a bad appetizer yet. Service is fun and casual. Sit at the bar and it's easy to pick up conversation with other patrons. The desert menu is one of the largest I've ever seen - a blackboard overflowing with possibilities, each with a portion large enough to share. I would like to return for one of their beer pairing dinners, held once every couple months with one of the microbreweries. read more

Great choice for a local restaurant with quality menu items that are prepared fresh and with thought. I've never had a bad meal here and the appetizers and desserts as well as drinks are top-quality. Plainwell is well deserving of this restaurant that could be Grand Rapids caliber. read more

I have lived in this town on and off since 1968, so I know the area well. This is the best restaurant in Plainwell. My husband and I try different restaurants for fun, and have been all over Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo and the surrounding areas. We were pleasantly surprised to find this caliber of dining in our own back yard. The staff is welcoming whether you are dressed up or in your jeans. The menu fluctuates, but I haven't had a bad meal yet. My husband wants them to bring back the Guinness beef! I have two criticisms. They should lose the "box" entrance. It is all windowed and blazing hot in the summer, and very cold in the fall. They should open it up to the restaurant as a vestibule. Secondly, they should seat more customers in the larger dining area instead of placing all the customers in, what I would call, "the bar area". read more

We really like this restaurant. The menu is a nice mix of fare but the daily specials that are on the chalkboard are what you want. Service is great, the staff is friendly and the owners are always there which makes the experience more personal. read more
