If you like short and to the point:…read more Your search stops here. A Pets Tale is the only pet care service you will need moving forward and certainly the only one you will seek out. Chris has set the bar incredibly high and we feel very safe using him. You cannot find his price point, impeccable customer service, trustworthiness and dry humor anywhere else if you searched up and down the tristate area. Most importantly: our two large shepherds are obsessed with him. Chris is tenured, over communicates and pays close attention to detail. There is no one else I'd recommend servicing the Morris county and surrounding areas to take care of your babes while you are away or in a pinch. If you like detail, grab your coffee and read on: Family Dynamic: Nala: Pure Bred German Shepherd, 90 pounds, 4 years old Arlo: (Rescue) German Shepherd/Great Pyrenees/Husky mix, 1 1/2 years old Sardine: Domestic long hair, prince, 2 years old The only way to begin this review is by starting with Arlo, who is the sole reason our household feels like chaos. Now controlled chaos with the help of Chris, but chaos nonetheless. I rescued Arlo after losing my picture perfect 5 year old pure bred German shepherd to cancer. My thought was by rescuing a puppy I can train unwanted or learned behaviors and it wouldn't have any trauma. Not the case, and I learned the hard way that a dog with separation anxiety requires compromising efforts to ensure your dog is not distressed 24/7, otherwise your cortisol will be through the roof. I adopted Arlo when working remotely and spent 4 hours daily for the first 8 months training on a strict schedule. He's trained. He can come, heal, stay, go to place, sit, down, spin, speak, touch, lay chill, quiet- the list goes on. He simply chooses not to. No amount of leadership, high reward treat or toy will capture his attention span longer than maybe one minute. He's a healthy blend between Beethoven, the golden retriever from Disney's UP!, and dennis the menace. Nothing but a huge ball of love that doesn't know his size, Arlo can easily buckle the knees of a 200 pound man or accidentally knock grandma down requiring a hip replacement. We have two dogs actively fighting to be the alpha on a daily basis, and a mischievous cat who likes to instigate play. If unsupervised, it's tom and jerry, except the cat is the one chasing the dogs not realizing it's like playing Russian roulette with the jaw of Fur missile- but I digress. After exhausting trial and error efforts we have a routine down to a science that works. Any change in the routine shakes things up. This made traveling or extended day plans an anxiety driven nightmare because we had no solution. Friendly reminder when you have two 90 pound working dogs, you can't just ask the neighbor or family to watch them. Before using Chris, I utilized two different highly reviewed kennels for travel. The first Kennel experience: Arlo was returned to me walking on 3 legs, yelping in pain that required $800 X-rays. The second Kennel experience: Arlo was returned to me with HPV virus and warts all over his mouth (absolutely disgusting) and kennel cough that cost me $500. (All of which pet insurance did not cover, which on a side topic is a complete and utter scam.) Fast forward to now: We can travel, not have to worry and finally enjoy ourselves. Our dogs routine is much different than the average, but it works for us and Chris just gets it. When we are away he stops by our home 4-6 times depending on the weather. He gives us detailed updates, photos, and a sense of relief. The most refreshing part is that we trust him to make the judgement calls when we are away and don't ever have to think twice or worry. Review kicker: After two years of business we've built a strong relationship with chris. While we were traveling earlier this year, I texted him saying: "Nalas birthday is tomorrow. I cannot believe we are traveling on such an important day. Can you sing to her to make her feel loved.' "If you want her ears to bleed, I sure can." I genuinely thought this was where this conversation would end. Until I received an unexpected VIDEO of Chris singing happy birthday to Nala with a puppy crown on, a pumpkin bday cake and a lit birthday candle. Are you kidding me? Trust me when I say Chris is WAY too busy with too many clients to be running around buying gifts because someone sarcastically asked him to sing happy birthday. He did that because he loves Nala like his own, and we love him for it! Thank you A Pets Tale for making our life simpler and more enjoyable with the help of your services. We will continue to recommend you as long as you are in business. - Mother of Dooblani's

Greetings again fellow Yelpers...... Although it has taken…read moresome time for Ownership to offer a rebuttal, it finally was posted. In order to continue to provide you with factual, informative feedback, this latest evaluation of that response is now posted. Ownership contends that the "pack" is walked 3 x per day. When closed circuit video was operable, clearly, the dogs within the large play area were not taken outside; this was verifiable after watching the camera feed continuously over an 8 hr period. (There is insufficient staff to walk all of the dogs, on leash, within the nearby wooded area.) Sadly, the dogs continue to relieve themselves directly onto the play floor. The suggestion that existing smells on the floor contribute to the triggering of relieving themselves is lame at best. Considering that the play floor is sanitised regularly, and that it is a sealed floor, the dogs are simply compelled to relieve themselves onto the floor; there are no lingering smells. Don't forget, a single staff member is assigned to immediately clean up after the dogs "go". With regard to dog owners using the view window to check up on their furry friends, that window is limited to the small dog play area. Unless dog owners intend to camp out at the one window, it's unreasonable to suggest that the one view window provides proof of the dogs being walked, the lack of a closed circuit TV feed notwithstanding. TV feeds for dog owners was taken down several years ago; you should be concerned about that decision.

I can't recommend Nancy at Know Your Dog Training highly enough…read more After doing extensive research to find the right trainer, I'm so glad I found Nancy. From the beginning it was clear that she has a deep understanding of dogs and brings a calm, confident, and professional approach to everything she does. My dog Kane completed a training program with her, and I was extremely impressed with the experience and the results. Nancy takes the time to truly understand each dog and provides the kind of structure, guidance, and consistency that helps dogs thrive. Since then, Nancy has also become my trusted go-to whenever I travel. Knowing Kane is in her care gives me tremendous peace of mind. He always comes home happy, relaxed, and well cared for. What really sets Nancy apart is the level of attention and personalization she provides. This isn't a typical boarding situation -- she genuinely gets to know the dogs she works with and creates a thoughtful, structured environment for them. Nancy is trustworthy, caring, extremely knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what she does. I'm very grateful I found her and would recommend Know Your Dog Training without hesitation to anyone looking for a skilled trainer or a safe, reliable place for their dog while they're away.

Nancy was referred to me by another trusted dog trainer I worked with in the city, and I'm so glad…read moreshe was. Having a city dog isn't easy -- our 4-year-old Wheaten Terrier (female) has tons of energy, a stubborn streak, and some anxiety and reactivity issues around other dogs. We were looking for help with leash training and overall confidence, and Nancy was the perfect fit. From the very first interaction, Nancy was professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. She clearly loves what she does and cares deeply about every dog she works with. I enrolled our pup in a month-long board-and-train program while I was getting married, and Nancy made the experience completely stress-free. She stayed in constant communication, sending regular updates, photos, and videos that showed the progress and the specific behaviors being worked on -- plus advice for us as owners to reinforce at home. When our dog came back, the difference was night and day. She's calmer, more responsive, and walks beautifully on a leash with far fewer distractions. Her reactivity around other dogs has improved dramatically, and she seems much more confident overall. Even after the program ended, Nancy went above and beyond -- she included additional follow-up lessons at no cost and still checks in to see how things are going. Her board-and-train setup is amazing too: the dogs aren't kept in kennels but get to enjoy the outdoors, sunshine, and plenty of attention and enrichment. I can't recommend Know Your Dog and Nancy enough for anyone looking for dog training, board-and-train programs, or boarding with a personal touch. Nancy truly changed our dog's behavior -- and our lives -- for the better.
