I am almost certain we were turned away due to the color of our skin and the fact that my husband had on Jordan shoes. We walked in and there were several empty tables. The host asked if we had a reservation and we informed him we did not. He then looked at us, without checking his list, and told us they had too many other people that would be coming in to seat us. It was a Wednesday evening. He never even asked if we would like to be placed on the waiting list. Enjoyed the food. My favorite was tandoori mushroom in chettinadu sauce. It was such a unique dish with spicy and sour gravy with South Indian flavors. The Thecha paneer tikka was good and is spicy. So if you like spicy food this is the dish for you. Restaurant has such cute decor with thoughtful details like banana pen to sign and the receipt is presented in a monkey's face. The dessert also did not disappoint. Liked the chai tres leche and the tiramisu with unique presentation like a flower pot. It's not like a classic Tiramisu but still had good taste. The place is BYOB. Also reservations have hour and 45 minute block. We were asked to leave after that time frame. I will be coming back to try few more dishes. read more

We have dined here twice. The first time just felt ok. The food is good, service can be better as its always busy. Ambiance is nice and located in downtown Summit. We got the mango lassi which was ok like every other place, Thecha Tandoor Paneer is very good (preferred more chaat masala for that tang), Sham Savera was ok. This has to be my top favorite places to go and I've only been once, so far. Everything was fresh and seemed authentic. I only say seem because I'm not from India so I wouldn't really know. Everything we ordered, we kept saying "omg," and we'd smile so big. We definitely want to go back to try more dishes. I left photos of what we had and everything I would order again and again. Cozy BYOB restaurant with great service and very good food. Still getting their legs under them so this is an early review. We started with the spicy chicken appetizer and Pani Puri, the chicken was outstanding, our favorite of the night, the little crispy shells were not as much of a hit. For mains we ordered the goat curry, chicken curry and the Aloo Gobi (cauliflower). Portions are about right for one person, maybe share with two; not huge. All the sauces were excellent. The goat was not properly cooked, chewy not soft, $30 was too much for such a small bowl. My buddy talked us into desserts, we tried the golub jamun tiramisu, the cassata ice cream and the rasmala with butterscotch, all very tasty. We will be back as they grow into a full menu. They give accurate recommendations for how much food you might need for any sized party. I went here for my Fiancés dads birthday, and we were a party of 8 people, everyone left feeling so happy. Ambiance: The music is perfect and the vibe and decor is so trendy, you feel like you're at a high end restaurant in NYC right in the heart of summit. The perfect place to go to end your end. Also the fact that they're BYOB is so amazing! Food: Where do I even start! For apps, I tried the desi guac (SO good and loved the spin on this), pani puri with assorted waters (the presentation on this is so cute and it's just a fun thing to eat here, theca paneer (my FAVE don't sleep on this), the eggplant bruschetta (delicious blend of flavors) and okra salad (I don't even like okra, but I liked this)! For mains we loved the Shaam savera kofta, jackfruit biryani, dal makhni and tandoori mushroom. Everything was incredible fresh, delicious, spiced so well, we couldn't stop eating it. If you love spice, pair your meal with a bullet naan-- it's adds the perfect kick in my opinion! The kashundi was tasteless, the samosas had a thick hard skin, and the $26 chicken thigh korma included two emaciated thighs in a wonderful spicy yogurt sauce. I have been here a few times and the lotus root appetizer is one of my favorite Indian dishes I have ever had. The sweet and tangy are perfectly balanced, with crispy lotus root chips for texture as well. The paneer appetizer, pani puri, chicken.. everything we tried we liked. The naan was fluffy, dessert was great (butterscotch rasmalai) and mango lassi delicious as well. I prefer the appetizers to the main courses personally, the mains seemed a little light on meat and heavy on sauce. However they nail it with the appetizers. Such a lovely restaurant! The best were the jackfruit lettuce wraps. The jackfruit was cooked just right with the classic Indo-Chinese spices and given with a sweet sauce. The lettuce was fresh and crisp. The combination made a fun and creative taste with a new twist on Indo-Chinese food. The naan was very large and crispy. Not too thick but just right. Garlic naan was excellent. The onion kulcha could have been better since they only stuck onions on top without the spices. The Shyam savera wasn't sweet or tailored to the classic American taste. I wish they put more spices to have more taste to the gravy (3.5/5 taste wise) since it seemed bland but the spinach balls were cooked right. Service was quick and we had a female server who gave us tips on what to order and share. I didn't get her name but she was kind and great. The restaurant itself is very chic. Plenty of creative monkey decorations to fit the name. They even provide the cutest hand towels on a monkey platter at the end of the meal. A great place for dates or group gatherings. Great option for date night! It is an intimate setting, I would recommend reserving a table in advance to ensure you have seating available. It does it busy during dinner time. We started off with beverages Dirty Monkey (masala soda), Mango Lassi (both were good) I would recommend to the business to ask if the customer would like masala on the rim of the cup or not it can be overpowering to experience the beverage. For an appetizer, we had the samosa trio, but we chose potatoes only instead of different ones. For the entree, we ordered butter chicken with rice and chicken thigh korma with cheese naan. Very large portions, definitely shareable, but we were able to try both. Everything came out good and in a timely manner. We had to save half of our entrée to go, to have space for dessert, which was gulab Jamin tiramasu. It had the right texture and the right amount of sweetness. We would definitely come here again, maybe for dessert. It is BYOB as an option, and make sure you have an appetite when you come in hungry and leave it full. I could not talk to my dinner guest because we couldn't hear each other and had to resort to texting while sitting across from each other. And we felt neglected by the staff- they never cleared the appetizer plates before dinner or the dinner plates before desert. We had to beg for water refills or any attention from the severs. The food was very good. We had the okra salad and eggplant bruschetta to start, then the jackfruit biryani and aloo gobi, and finally the tiramisu. All were solid. The service was efficient, if not superlative (they were very busy on this Friday night). The space is nice. Our big issue was the NOISE: it's deafening. My husband and I can be loud, but even we had to raise our voices to be heard. They need to invest in noise reduction: foam under tables, fabric panels on the walls, maybe some easy-to-clean, dark area rugs. It's a big problem. Pleasantly surprised with this two month old restaurant, kudos to the owners who took a risk and added cuisines with a twist like "chicken kebab rubbed with ghost pepper and honey hot sauce", the goan shrimp lettuce wrap was delicious. We ordered jackfruit biriyani which isn't available everywhere and finished with gulab jamun tiramisu which was ok. Overall great service, attentive staff though we went on a Friday afternoon, we were recommended to come with a reservation. It came to 100$ with tips which they had added already 18% for a party of two, I would have tipped 20%. Food is right on point the level of spice which is authentic, they also have a menu that's the typical Americanized Indian food just in case. Interestingly I heard that they will keep refreshing the menu! 4 monkeys did not meet our expectations on a high note nor on a medium note from the exterior appearance but the interior was nicely done however crammed tight and uncomfortable. My wife and I came to celebrate our 6th anniversary and were disappointed on how uncomfortable the seating was. Our server, Ankit M, was nice and we ordered the ghost pepper chicken, fried cauliflower, and fried okra. The fried okra was horrible in taste, the chicken tikka ghost pepper ($26 for 6 pieces) was the best tasting item.
