So the beer here is really good. They are constantly changing it up too so you get to try a lot of kinds of you come here enough. They have free popcorn too. Worst part is that it is tiny. There is barely enough room to get the tables and stools in, not to mention people. Luckily, the good beer outweighs the lack of space. Maybe they will get a bigger place someday. They need it considering the popularity of their establishment. read more

Four Fathers Brewing - Cheers! - Breweries Near Me - Valparaiso, Indiana

Four Fathers is a hole in the wall that you might drive by several times and not notice. Eagle eyes served well today. The interior is a shoe box with a few bar seat style tables and a half door opening where you order. A complimentary popcorn machine is set up by the tables. On tap are only a half dozen beers but that's fine by me. When you run across a joint this size you want to see them concentrate on a small selection and get them right. I had the pleasure of a couple free pours today, Abolition and British Ugly. Abolition, a robust porter, warmed my heart...so I bought a growler to go. British Ugly, a mild English ale, was nearly as good. If I had the time I would have done it the right way and ordered a flight, but we had other fish to fry. I enjoyed their small/local approach. If you find yourself in this neck of the woods do yourself a solid and pay these fathers a visit. Cheers! read more

Very informative visit. The server answered my questions and tolerated my lamentations/observances/reflections like a champ. The Omaha and Utah (Weis + a faint fruit undertone) is not normally a direction I would go, however the fact it is a bock (the allure) which may or may not be related to the amount of yeast which added a kick that complimented the aforementioned weis and fruit. I was surprised to see the 10oz option as a "large" until my eyes spied a cool 9.3% ABV. As the only patron and the industrial feel, while I dig it, don't know if the general public would. To note: a graceful middle European woman and her daughter come in and are informed (as is IN law) that they would have to sit outside (understandable, yet unfortunate). They lost the biz, as the woman said in her Slovakian (?) accent: "Itsquite steamy, read more

Four Fathers Brewing - Great selection of beer. - Breweries Near Me - Valparaiso, Indiana

It seems you can't swing a dead cat in northwest Indiana without hitting a new brewery. In general, I'm excited for this development but worry it might lend to everyone doing the same old thing. Luckily, the three breweries in Valpo each have there own distinctive feel and flavor, and for my money Four Fathers is the best. Located in a new but nondescript strip mall west of downtown, the actual building doesn't necessarily scream top-notch brewing locale Though they lack natural surroundings and appealing facades, they do a good job in creating an intimate atmosphere. The interior is nothing more than a small parlor in the front of the facility with a only a few tables and chairs. But it's quaint and comfy in its setup and decor. The beer is really what either makes or breaks a place like this, and in that score they are solid. All of the brews I sampled were well-crafted and very good with their American Stout and English IPA standing out. As has been mentioned, they don't offer food and their limited snacks (a popcorn machine in the corner) are disappointing. But, seriously, who cares. The highlight for me was taking the time to chat with a couple of the owners. They were eager to share their stories and the vision behind their beer and brewing. It's nice hearing from brewers who truly see their trade as an art form. If you're hanging out for any length of time, take a moment to chat them up. Being around less than a year, you can tell they are still getting their feet underneath them. But, I think that Four Fathers is on their way to becoming a leading craft brewer in the area. read more

Off the grid brewery with pretty good beer! I have been here twice & left happy each time. It's a new building so the inside is decorated well. They did have a bbq food area set up outside.. so bring cash incase you get hungry. The actual brewery only offers popcorn and chips I think. The popcorn tasted burned, it wasn't good. Worth checking out, the beer is good. read more

I'm so happy I checked out this spot! Gabby who was serving us was so fun and down to earth. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a good time. read more

Four Fathers Brewing - Drink up! - Breweries Near Me - Valparaiso, Indiana

Friendly staff. Solid beer. Decent selection. Free popcorn cooked in pork fat. Next to a winery so you can hit both in one trip. Kind of an odd set up on how you order your beer. Almost like a take out window. Small place, I could see where it could get cramped. Clientele is very friendly as well. Chill place with good beer and tasty popcorn. read more

Maybe it's because I've been to breweries throughout the country so my standards are pretty high, but I found this brewery extremely disappointing. The drinks aren't terrible but not high quality. Do yourself a favor and drive a bit further and go to Devil's Trumpet. read more

This is my favorite Valparaiso brewery! They consistently rotate selection with 5 or 6 beers at each visit. Varied style with knowledgeable staff who are generous with tastes. I also appreciate FF tapping a firkin every Friday, with interesting twists on their beers. read more

Would love to try this place but it closes so early on a Friday night! 9 pm?! We travel from out of town to visit our daughter and it's always closed by the time we get there. How about you go crazy and stay up until 11? read more

My boyfriend is a huge fan of Four Father's beer, so I decided that it would be a perfect Christmas present for him. The brewpub is cozy and inviting and their beer is amazing, but this review is a testament to their outstanding customer service. We live just outside of Chicago, so it took me a little over an hour to get there. When I got there I was greeted by Jason who helped me put together an awesome box of beer, a t-shirt and a snifter. I had explained that my boyfriend had a snifter, but it broke while he was washing it. Jason grabbed another snifter, wrapped it in tissue and said "tell your boyfriend, Merry Christmas from all of us at Four Fathers". I thought that was really awesome! I get home later on and am going through the box when I noticed that a bottle I had bought at the last minute was inadvertently missing from the box. So the next day, I sent a message to Four Fathers on Facebook explaining what happened and got a quick response from Kim apologizing for the mix up. She said I could come in anytime and pick it up. Since we live over an hour away, popping back in wasn't an option for me. She messaged me and as luck would have it, they were going to be in my area looking at a truck and we could meet. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it, but she offered to have her husband bring it to me another day while I was at work. Again, my schedule conflicted with our meeting so I asked if he could just leave it in my mailbox. I sent her my address and later that day I had my missing bottle of beer! There's not many businesses out there that will go that extra mile for their customer. This was beyond an extra mile. Not only does Four Father's have a great product, but they have great people working for them as well. Many, many thanks to Kim, Colin and Jason (and the other guy working that night but I don't know your name) for everything! read more

After the 3-Dune challenge at the Indiana Dunes state park stopped here for a well deserved beer. The Belgian IPA was on point. But the best part of this brewery was Connor and his selection of music. Thank you. From old Motown to classic rock - Sly and the Family Stone to Deep Purple. I'll go back for this reason alone. read more

Comfortable tiny spot, you can see into the brewery which is neat. Loved the "26th" and Revere's Rye, porter was just ok. Overall I'm glad we came, worth the trip, Oh yeah free popcorn with bacon grease!!! read more

Stopped in for a pint: IP Config. Great India Pale Lager! Spoke with the husband and wife who brew and run the place-nicest folks you could meet. Left with a howler for later. Support this local small craft brewery! read more

This is a cool little place with some great beers. The tap room is small, with a tiny door near the entrance were you order your beers. One of the thing I really liked was the fact that they offer three sizes 5oz, 8oz, and Pints. The eight ounce is the perfect portion when you don't want to commit to a full pint, but want more than a few sips. I would like see more breweries offer this option. I particularly enjoyed their Hop In the Bucket Session IPA & Marty McRye Citra Hopped Double IPA. I thought the patriotic theme of the tap room was a cool twist and something a little different then typical industrial decor with death metal blasting, which is fast becoming a micro brewery cliche. Overall, Four Fathers was my favorite of the three brewery's in Valpo. read more

Pretty good place to stop in for an after dinner drink. If you feel like it they also have a food truck stop by occasionally as well. The space is a little small but because of that I have had a few interesting conversations with other patrons. read more

Fine, brewed to style beers. Good folk. Cannot wait to they bottle a session IPA as a 6 pack. They are also creative but not in the ridiculous way some others tend to be. One of the best around! read more

Nice selection of beer. I like that they offer different size glasses as opposed to the standard pint. Small place and nothing fancy about it. However, they are expanding and will add a food menu. One downside is their brewing is not closed off from the tap room, so you get the fumes. Not all that pleasant and makes it very warm. First time there and won't rule out returning. Friendly staff who takes the time to answer your questions. read more

I enjoy stopping by to see what is on tap. Everyone is friendly and the service is top notch like the beer. The bacon popcorn is a good addition as well. read more

Awesome beer that you can watch being brewed in the back. Great people making great beer. Would recommend to anybody in northwest Indiana!

Great beer and super people. They have added music on weekends and the berry Neptune is a great beer. Highly recommend

I absolutely loved this place. Great beer, great people, great vibe. It is small (and you need to watch for the building as you drive, or you'll pass it), but very nicely done. Six beers were on tap when I visited and they were all excellent - some were even better than excellent. There were low gravity (low alcohol) options and at least one high gravity option. Some of the brews were eclectic (e.g., white milk stout with coffee, stout with coconut and plantain) and some more traditional (e.g., English brown) - I loved them all. Light snacks only (popcorn made in bacon grease!), but live music and cool merchandise. I met Jason, one of the brewers, who took time to talk me through the beers and how they're made (not in a perfunctory way, but with the pride of an owner) - really a great guy. Headed to Harbor Country from Chicago (or vice versa)? Make a detour to drink a brew here - you will be so glad you did. read more

Tried the Heavy Hitter Belgian style imperial stout - it was incredibly good. Also tried a few gulps of what I believe was called the Oatis - it was a dark chocolate orange beer, which is not really my thing, but it wasn't bad. Quality was definitely there. Not really a huge stickler in the atmosphere department, but this place was pretty cool, with everything being wood and having lots of presidential/historical decorations. Without a doubt worth a visit. read more

So I never count out a brewery after 1 or 2 visits, especially a microbrewery that constantly rotates their tap list. I tried this place 4 different times and it was disappointing each time. Don't get me wrong the staff was nice and the place had character, but the beers were not up to par. I always like a good variety of beers and try to sample many, but this place was consistently mediocre. If I had to pick my favorite beer from them it would be "Why Buy the Cow" milk stout brewed with coffee. read more

The people working here are always really nice and really knowledgeable about the beer. They CARE and this place serves no food...it's all about the beer. I think they do a great job setting themselves apart from other local breweries, not that others are bad, but the beers here have a style all their own. I particularly like the sours! read more
