FABULOUS little GEM! Sissy brought me here for dinner and OMG. Driving up to the restaurant is very quiet and the town is so picturesque. Not a lot going on outside. Had no idea the inside of this place was SO exciting, busy and energy was amazing! We ate EVERYTHING that was not meat. FRESH farm to table style food. Cheese board, mussels, scallops, salad... you name it, we ate it. The cocktails were fabulous. Service was on point Gorgeous decor. Love the ceiling detail. Fun crowd. Outdoor seating but we didn't have coats so we passed. I wish I lived in CT full time so I could go here more often! read more

We found the perfect lunch spot the other day at Foundry Kitchen & Tavern in Newtown! I loved their covered patio area, and the little river running along the side. Their spin on the nachos were amazing, and some of the best I've ever tasted! We ordered the Tito's mixed berry lemonade, red sangria, local cheese platter, and the street corn nachos. 10/10 experience, I can't wait to try more of the menu next time! read more

We've been here a couple of times and have always had great food and service. We love the space, both indoors and on the deck, overlooking the River. Can't wait to go back! read more

Super cool restaurant. Love the ambiance and building. Staff is super nice. Some of their dishes are pricey for what they are but the food is really good. read more

Foundry Kitchen is a MUST if you are in the Newtown/Sandy Hook area. Great food, chill vibes and amazing outdoor seating on a little brook when the weather is nice. I always order the vegetarian chili (it's too good to venture out and try something new). Not only is it delicious (with just the right amount of spice), it is served in an adorable little jar with chips on the side. The service here is amazing - every employee goes out of their way to greet you and make you feel welcome (for someone eating alone while traveling for work, that means a lot). Stop by for a local drink or dinner - you won't regret it! read more

Lovely restaurant in the town area, stopped in for a quick bite with mom so glad we did! We got the fish tacos which were delicious they were accompanied by yuca fries everything was very fresh and tasty. We also got the squash grilled cheese so yummy with tatter tots. We decided to eat indoors, but if the weather is good sit outside it's very relaxing. Eating are over looks a small river very beautiful. Would definitely recommend! read more

We had my daughters bridal shower on may 29 2022 and it was more then we could of asked for! Mary, the organizer of the event was amazing! She made everything so easy for us.Honestly it was a relief! The food, our thanks and gratitude to chef, was delicious! The presentation was beautiful and easily accessible. The staff was polite, pleasant and reserved. You did not know they were there until they took your empty plate! The atmosphere was open, well lite and charming. Rustic chic and beautifully laid out. Plenty of room to move about with additional couches and chairs. The access may be challenging for much older persons. There are a number of stairs to climb. Over all it was a very happy and memorable! Thank you Mary and your wonderful staff! read more

Great food, good service, nice ambiance. My only wish would be that the price tag wasn't so high. We are among a lot of families living Sandy Hook with two working parents in desperate need of a reasonable priced local eatery. If the Foundry was just 10-15% cheaper, our family would be eating here a couple of times per week instead of once a month. read more

The food was good, and if it came out in a timely manner I would've gave this place 4 or 5 stars. Unfortunately a 50 minute wait for our entrees ( 2 lamb burgers and a stuffed french toast and 130 dollars later) left us feeling underwhelmed. Three tables with people around us who were seated after us and got more complex dishes, were served before us and left before we got our entrees. At this price point it's sort of unacceptable to me. Three times we were told it'll be right out but the time kept ticking by. I still left a tip tho... We probably won't be back. read more

Outstanding food and service. One of the best spots in Newtown for dinner and amazing drink menu

Stopped by on a whim--we were on our way to another brunch spot but this place caught our eyes. We both got bloody Marys. I didn't like my flavour so I swapped with husband. He liked mine and I liked his better. 3 bucks with an entree and it's an entree unto itself! Me-veggie chili. In a mason jar. Served with Tri colored chips. Great flavour a. Filled with red bean, veggies and quinoa. Loved it. Husband got a Indonesian street good chicken sandwich, also loved it. We'll be back. read more

We recently had my sister's bridal shower in their Warner Loft and wow did they do a great job! The food was amazing and there were awesome vegetarian options too! The bread pudding french toast, vegetarian frittata and brisket hash were to die for!! I expected good food after reading other reviews and word of mouth, but it far exceeded my expectations! We had great service with the bartender, event coordinator and day of Coordinator as well. Mary checked in with me consistently in the weeks prior to the event, answering any questions that I had in a timely manner. I would highly recommend the Foundry for any events you have! read more

Sadly not the review I'd want to write but it's necessary. Hubby n I went for a casual dinner, decided to eat at bar which had 3 other customers. Entire place maybe @ 20% capacity. Not warmly greeted & entire place smelled like burnt cider. Aside from that I had a very good cocktail & we ordered chicken tacos & Caesar salad w grilled shrimp (requested blackened but was informed they currently have no blackening seasoning) no biggie. Grilled is fine. Food came out super fast. Shrimp was quite unappealing in appearance. Was opaque no grill marks and appeared wet/oily & undercooked. Reluctantly, I tried one. texture wise I don't think it was undercooked and didn't taste particularly awful ButI wasn't comfortable continuing as I couldn't get past how unappetizing the shrimp looked. I eventually let our bartender know & ordered steak instead. She took the shrimp & a few minutes later, David the manager came over with shrimp in hand to inform me that the shrimp is "actually cooked perfectly", I let him know it was very unappetizing etc...He then said the steak will take 25 minutes (since when does it take 25 minutes to cook a steak??) and requested I order something else. I order grilled chicken. Below is a pic of the chicken I received. The vibe from entire staff was obviously that no one wanted to be there and that's probably what bummed me out the most. I've recommended the foundry a zillion times and have dined there a ton. I do know if Nicole was there the entire place would have been much more joyful. Also she'd never do what David did. Really unnecessary and tbh offensive. Will be a very long time before going back. Unfortunately, I did not take a pic of the shrimp but here's the chicken. Which I also did not eat but brought home for my pup. read more

Was so excited about the oyster mushroom po boy but overall it wound up being meh-the mushrooms are cut so small that there is no textural element and mostly you get breading (not a bad thing but if u didn't tell me it was supposed to the mushroom, I wouldn't have known)! Veggie dumpling sauce was amazing but the dumplings were priced at $3 per dumpling if u did the math, which is a bit steep IMO. The Cobb salad - we subbed in tofu which was awesome- was a hearty portion as were the side order of truffle fries! read more

A great small town spot with great food!!! Had some great cocktails and delicious duck!! Very nice atmosphere, very friendly staff and quite a few delicious vegan options. We shared the vegan nachos, vegan fried rice and vegan curry. Maybe I should have paid more attention to the ingredients: at the end, I felt that I had a few too many pickled onions. read more

Foundry kitchen is this cozy spot right in sandy hook that has such a nice back deck that overlooks a river. Just went here tonight, why it's not $$$ on yelp I have no idea because it's expensive but despite that the service is great and the food is really good. The drinks are creative and yummy, I got the margarita special with pear juice, cinnamon and rosemary. It was pretty good while my boyfriend preferred his basic margarita. We wish there was more craft beer on draft, local beer would be nice. We split the calamari app Rhode Island style, crunchy and fresh. He got the inside out burger which looked awkward to eat but he was really impressed by the taste of the meat. I got the dumpling with short rib app for my meal. I just think that for the prices the dinners and even apps should have a little more quantity, there were 5 dumplings smaller than my thumb for $15 so on the menu it's called shareable but that wouldn't be very accurate. Most of the dinners are over $25-$35. I do like the ambiance a lot. It's a great date night setting if your wanting to splurge. read more

Cool bar area, great fish tacos. Fun place to eat on a sunny day. Quality beer selection. Kid friendly. Neat, old stuff on the walls.

We randomly found this place and decided to try it on a whim. I love that they had many vegan and vegetarian options on their menu. We sat out on the deck that overlooked a flowing river which was beautiful. The atmosphere was 10/10 and the service was amazing. We didn't have a reservation and got in right away, but it was early so if you go later I would suggest reserving because I'm sure it gets packed. Unfortunately I did not enjoy my vegan blt with eggplant bacon. It really didn't taste like anything and it wasn't worth $16. The menu was pretty pricey and I don't really think the food merits the price they charge. I ordered a cocktail and it was terrible. It literally tasted like water and I was very disappointed with it. I would give this place a second chance because I love the location and service but overall the food was not great especially for the price. read more

Came on a friday evening around 6:30 with another couple and had no problem getting a table near the river. It was a very warm summer evening but being next to the river gave a gentle, pleasant breeze. Excellent service, casual atmosphere with a bit of class, tasty cocktails. Calamari and mussels were delicious for starters. Had the 6oz New York strip with fritas. They were more like french fries kids get with a kids meal. I was expecting something a tad fancier. I wasnt a fan of the gorganzola on top but heyy. By the time we were done, every table was occupied, mostly with younger couples out on a date. This place is excellent for that! read more

This place was surprising PACKED and busy on a Wednesday night. We had a party of four and the wait was about an hour long around 730pm, The decor was rustic and very cute. They had an antique sewing machine table outside for the menus, the handles for tap beer were vintage kitchen utensils, tables inside and at the bar seemed to be made from repurposed wood. Love it! Highlights from the dinner - definitely order the truffle tater tots, super crispy, perfectly seasoned. Poké bowl with ahi tuna, portion is pretty big for an appetizer and comes with sticky rice. Organic salmon entree, comes with asparagus and carrot, radish and sticky rice - perfect portions! They also have brunch! Would definitely come back to try it when I'm in the area again. read more

I used to love the quality of the food here about a year ago! Unfortunately, every time I've been since the quality has gotten slightly worse. The food and drinks are relatively mediocre, which unfortunately doesn't match the price point. The patio is definitely worth a visit in the summer months but unfortunately the food isn't up to par with the price points. read more

We had excellent service outside on the deck. The food was very good and the ambiance was very nice. The menu is a nice combination of unique dishes and ingredients, healthy choices and comfort food. We had the lamb burger and fish tacos and enjoyed them both. Great place to hang out with friends on a Sunday afternoon. I don't get to this area as often as I'd like but the next time I do, I'll plan to stop at the Foundry for a bite! read more

I went to Foundry a few days ago and enjoyed the cosy ambience. The food was perfect and at a reasonsable price.

Was in the neighborhood and hungry. So I pulled up yelp, filtered by "open now", ranked by most commented, found this place and just went. It turned out to be one of the most interesting places I went nearby. Had the salmon with sticky rice. Everything was good, both taste and presentation. Also ordered Veggie Banh Mi for take out which was the surprise. I ended up not having it until 2 days later and it still taste good! Although tofu got soggy, but not their fault. Now I have to go again and try the crispy-ness fresh! Lol. read more

Great atmosphere, the outdoor seating overlooks the river. I ordered the vegan nachos and fish tacos, both were very tasty

This is one of my favorite go to restaurants in Newtown because their food is incredible and something that's different to this town. It's not a pizza or pasta place which I feel like Newtown has so many of. I would say it's more of a fusion restaurant because they have so many different options for everyone to enjoy but they do their own spin on things which I love. I went, probably for the 5th time yesterday, and sat outside on their beautiful deck overlooking the river in Sandy Hook. -My boyfriend and I split the calamari which had hot cherry peppers also fried with in with it. It was an appetizer, but a really good sized one. It I believe a spicy/sweet ketchup dipping sauce and marinara. The ketchup and the calamari were awesome! They tasted fresh and were crunchy and not soggy like some places I've tried. The marinara was pretty bland nothing special. -After that I got one of the specials, pork belly bao which was sooo delicious. I believe it was an appetizer on the specials menu but I didn't want something too filling since we were having a late lunch. It came with two decent sized boe buns. They were so rich in flavor and the buns were soft and not too hard. -My boyfriend got the fish tacos which I recommend because that's what I usually always get when I come. As usual they were delicious with yuca fries which are my favorite! It's nice having something different for once instead of the usual potato fries. -My friend got the chicken curry bowl which I tried. I was kind of disappointed in it because a curry is usually a soup like dish whereas his meal was a bowl of black rice with chicken and vegetables. My friend enjoyed it which is what matters but I was very close to getting that dish and would've wanted it to be more curry sauce like with rice on the side to dip and mix in. Overall our waitress Nicole was awesome and moved us all inside when it started thundering and lightening. Highly recommend this place to check out for either lunch or dinner with friends and family! read more

Good bar food and fun atmosphere especially on back outdoor patio overlooking a babbling brook. Quaint small area with Espresso shop, deli, liquor store, and walking distance to diner and another restaurant. Worth a trip for sure. After several hours of highway driving, my family and I got hungry and decided to look for someplace local to stop. After seeing the stars and reviews we decided to give this place a try and I'm thankful we did! Not being from the area, I wasn't so sure when we pulled up to the place but once we went in, there was no looking back. We were greeted immediately and shown to our table for five. Our server (Rhea?) was outstanding and super helpful as we sorted out which of their dishes to try. In the end, we were all very happy with our selections but if I were going to give one recommendation, it would be for the Street Corn nachos. They were simply delicious!!! read more

We are pretty picky when it comes to food (vegan/plant-based) and haven't gone out too much lately. However, this was a special occasion- my daughter's birthday.
