Has potential, not terrible, not awesome, but still probably better than most restaurant options in Elyria. I stopped in at the bar for a beer and a burger. I expected more people given the day and time of our visit. The service was definitely lacking, even sitting at the bar where staff congregated. The bar tender spent the majority my visit talking with one customer and forgot a drink order. In general, it just felt like the staff had a ''meh" attitude. When visiting a restaurant, I enjoy interacting with staff members who for lack of a better term, give a shit, and genuinely care about making my experience memorable. I'm pretty certain a member of management or ownership was sitting nearby at the bar drinking alcohol, going behind the bar getting drinks as they pleased. Otherwise, someone was just helping themselves. Everyone is free to run their own business as they please, but to me personally as a customer bringing in revenue, it doesn't look good. It just left a bad taste, like a Bar Rescue episode in the making. The burger itself was okay. Slightly overcooked and no memorable flavors that made me want to go back for more. Nothing about it knocked my socks off. The burger arrived with an extra topping that I didn't order. Not a big deal because I can just take it right off, but I appreciate attention to detail. Would I still go back and get it over the other nearby restaurant options? Yes, but there's room for improvement. Solid beer and cocktail menu, exactly as I expected walking in the door. There was a solid mix of everything. The atmosphere was really outstanding and more pleasant than expected. It felt much trendier than anything I've seen in Elyria, something that you'd expect to see in Ohio City or Tremont. Really, from this perspective, it's a breath of fresh air to the downtown area. Especially considering the type of establishments that once lined the street. Overall, while I wasn't entirely pleased with this visit, the restaurant has some serious potential. I will return in time to try a different variety of food and I hope to see improvements. read more

It's so great to see a place like this in Elyria. The food is different from most any place in the area, and they have a great beer list. That said, I've been twice, and each time there was some thing that was a bit irritating. The first time: the bar service. We were shocked at how long we sat before anyone approached us. It appeared to be shift change as the bartenders were stocking napkins, bottles, and dealing with the drawer. Highly annoying. The second time: I went for lunch and they had NO COFFEE. Meaning no coffee in the whole restaurant. I was told someone was on their way to pick it up and I could have a cup in about 45 minutes. Absolutely ridiculous and definitely a first (hopefully a last). I really hope this place does well, and will definitely be back. Just hope they work out the kinks in service and product. read more

Went here for the first time last week and had the buttermilk chicken and waffles. I must not have noticed that the menu said it had maple sriracha syrup on it so I was surprised that the syrup had a slight heat too it. It was so good! The syrup really complemented the sweet waffle and savory chicken. The waffle was light and fluffy while the chicken was crispy and juicy. Looking forward to returning for seconds. read more

This is the first review of a brand new restaurant in Elyria which opened only yesterday. Our appetizer, the Fresh Pretzels, were far from fresh. They had been split and grilled. Tasted days old. My hubby's Lasagne Deconstructed was flavorful but on the dry side. My steak was an 8 oz Hand Cut NY Strip. It was cooked as I had ordered. The Rosemary garlic smashed yukons were good and the Brussels sprouts with Panchetta were delicious. Dessert was the Pizel Napoleon. A very light and tasty treat. Giving that they have only been open the sum of one day I will most certainly come back and give them another try or two to see how things progress. We need another good restaurant in Elyria!! read more

I don't think I can give this place five stars without eating more than just fried pickles, but my first visit made a fan and I'd love to upgrade this review once I get to return. The city of Elyria really needs the Foundry, a gastropub with a great beer selection, refined decor, pleasant atmosphere, and really friendly staff. Really excited to have this place in Elyria and look forward to stopping over after a softball game this summer. The Foundry has a large dining area and a decent patio that looks out on Broad St. It'll be great this summer. Can't wait to visit again! read more

I am very happy to see a more hip restaurant open in Elyria. Exposed brick, cast-iron decor with glass garage doors that open to the side walk. Ample, ample seating. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and modern. The food is also a welcome departure from the standard dive fare in Lorain County. Wasabi deviled eggs with panchetta? Deep fried pickles? Garlic aioli? Yes please! I had the black bean burger, and the broccoli greens and caramelized onions sent it over the top. Plus the pricing remains competitive with the downtown restaurants. I really hope this place can make it. I am concerned this might be a little bit more Lakewood or Westlake than Elyria, but us Elyria folk deserve better. And The Foundry fills that niche nicely. read more

Tried this local spot on our drive east. As busy on a Saturday evening as social distancing allows. Seated quickly. Friendly server named Christy. My wife got the Carnivore Pizza. Generous meat and cheese on a thinner crust. Very tasty and filling. She ate half of the personal size. My T.J. Burger, half chorizo and half hamburger with roasted red peppers and jack cheese with guacamole and chipotle aioli. Delicious. Fries and margaritas were unremarkable, but were not the reasons we chose this restaurant. Next time in town I expect we'll return. read more

My wife and I picked up sandwiches from the Foundry for a physically distant family visit with our parents following COVID precautions. First time at this place. The menu has a nice variety of sandwich options with some local names. Everyone found the food very tasty! Most people ordered chips or fries with their sandwiches. Due to a low fat vegetarian diet I did not. The portabella mushroom sandwich was extremely good. It was a slightly small to split between two people without additional side dishes. Have visited this place about three times now and think it is a complete hidden gem in an area I would otherwise never go to. Huge improvement from when it used to be Moss'. Really nice selection of local beers on tap, very friendly service, and delicious food. We enjoy sitting at the bar; all of the bartenders are super friendly and attentive -- particularly Kyle! Nachos are my favorite food (don't judge) and the Foundry has the BEST nachos in the area. I like them even better than the wild boar nachos at El Carnicero. We've also had the chicken and waffle pizza, the tuna wontons, the Elyrian, and the turkey croissant and all of it was great. My husband ordered the burger that's half ground bacon and half ground beef (yep, that's a thing) one visit and it was way too rich for him, which is saying a lot, but everything else has exceeded expectations. I'm really glad that there is a unique, aesthetically beautiful sports bar in Elyria now. read more

I LOVE this restaurant!! Not only is everyone who works here incredibly friendly but the food is delicious!! The California wrap is too die for!!! Not at all shrimpy or fishy (for those of you who aren't the biggest fan of fish). Plus if you get a side you HAVE to try the sweet potato fries with their chip dip!! I don't even like sweet potato fries but I get them here bc they're just so amazing! I love the portobello mushroom sandwich!! The Buffalo chicken salad(available only on Wednesday's) is also incredible!! But my all time favorite is their pizza specifically they're margarita pizza!!! We came here for our daughter's 16th birthday. The atmosphere is fantastic - rustic wood married to industrial chic. The food is really good. I had the NY strip, which came in at $11 for 8 ounces. It was perfectly cooked and accompanied by the tastiest Yukon potatoes I have ever had. The kids had burgers, the buffalo chicken sandwich, and the chicken and waffles. All four of them gave it two thumbs up. It's a good value, great food kind of place. For 8 of us, the bill was less than $100. read more

We have been to the Foundry a bunch of times and everything has always been amazing. Last night (2/23), we did not have such a great experience. 2 of the 4 dinners we ordered came out wrong. The Foundry Kitchen and Bar was a huge disappointment from menu selections, inexperiencd waiters, lackluster food and very slow service. The space is creative, well done and has the potential to generate a good vibe. Unfortunately, the menu selection along with the lack of creativity makes dining here uneventful at best. They should stick to hamburgers and bar food until they find a chef that can create a more imaginative selection of entrees and starters. For example, a simple capresse salad shouldn't be a plate of bland unripe tomatoes with dry mozzarella and a sliver of basil. The meatloaf and spicey pork lo mien were barely edible and the menu in general is a hot mess. The wait staff should be trained not to clear plates until everyone at the table is finished and not ask in the middle of the meal if we will have dessert. Speaking of desert, the menu boasts a banana split which is really only three scoops of ice cream, printed wrong on the menu according to the waiter. This clearly is a stop for anyone who likes a wide variety of beers and a good drink who is not hungry for a real meal! All in all, I was excited to see a new restaurant opening in Elyria, but unfortunately until they get the basics down right, this is a "one hit" visit for most customers. 5 Star Rating for the renovation of the space! read more

It seemed like once the food was dropped off, there was alot of waiting around for the waiter to come back. Maybe it is a casualty of being seated in the front room and servers get sidetracked with the main dining room. Other than that, both of our lunch orders were very good. read more

Great industrial vibe. Extensive bar with happy hour specials from 3-7 daily. My husband and I got the fried pickles and the house made chips and dip as appetizers, the In Bacon We Trust burger and Chicken and Waffles for our entrees, and shared a piece of Chocolate Lucifer cake for dessert. Everything was good, but the chips and dip and burger were exceptional. The burger was a mix of 50% bacon and 50% ground beef--ridiculously good. The chips were very crispy and served with a generous portion of tasty sour cream and onion dip. Our server, Avery, was fun and attentive.
