Stopped here for lunch. We really wanted to love the place but we left underwhelmed and disappointed. We each got a Cuban sandwich - two $15.50 "Tampa style" and one $14.50 regular Cuban. Prices seemed awfully high given that there is no side included and every bite was way too salty. The flavors of the individual sandwich components did not come through because of their overuse of salt. Also I thought the roast pork was too dry compared to Cubans I've had in the past. We also each ordered the sugar cane drink that they have advertised on the screens. Had we known that each one was $10, we would have passed. The drinks weren't even filled to the top and most of it was ice. $10 is outrageous for any soft drink, especially in Elyria, Ohio of all places. It also took over 30 minutes to get our 3 sandwiches and it wasn't even that busy. Finally, the dining room looked a bit dirty and the first table we sat at had a broken foot and was too unstable to use. They also charged us 4% extra for paying with credit card but didn't tell us first. $83.63 for 3 salty sandwiches with no side and 3 soft drinks felt like a rip off. We will likely give them another shot at some point because our family has always enjoyed Cuban food when we visit Florida but our 1st impression here wasn't great. read more

First, let me start by saying that I spent a lot of time in Hialeah and Miami area and was very close to a Cuban family. I was going to join the Hialeah Fire Department but moved back to Northeast Ohio. Some of my favorite meals of the past were Cuban. I Have been looking for a good Cuban restaurant or at least an authentic Cubano sandwich. I was excited to try this place since it is close to my mom's. The place has potential but needs a lot of organization to the place. First let me start with the highs. Everyone there seemed authentic. Good ole Cuban chaos. Ordering was problematic, I ordered 1 chicken Pastelillos, 1 beef Pastelillos, and got 2 beef after waiting and extra 15 minutes to get the chicken one. I wanted a Media Noche and they didn't have them so I ordered a second Cubano but only got one and charged for one. I wanted the Congri, but she put in Yucca Fries. Also ordered two servings of the Maduros which I got. I also ordered a cafe con leche which was delicious but like warm. I didn't bother trying change my order as I didn't notice till I was waiting for the food. Review: Pastelillos beef was good, pastry was done nicely. Little salty but find that is common. I wish I would have received the chicken to try. Cubano - roasted pork was delicious and plenty of it. The Cuban bread was to thick and dried out. Ratio bread to inside way off. Cubanos from my experience is soft, thinner with a slight outside crisp to the sandwich. Yucca fries were not bad but had to be sitting for a long time. Was still nice to eat them. Maduros - were good Overall, I was disappointed in my experience but will definitely give them a second shot. They really need some organization as it was haphazard. They need a few more guys working there during lunch or dinner to help with the chaos. Main guy was very friendly and working hard. Worth a second chance read more

The staff here were so friendly and nice and thoughtful! They were excited to see us come for our first time to the restaurant. The place is cheerful with bright tropical colors and videos of Cuban scenes. My mom loves cubano sandwiches and tried them all over the place. She declared this the best one she has ever eaten! I ordered pollo a la plancha, which came with two sides - the waitress let me taste a yuca fry and Wow, I immediately ordered those as a side, and fried plantain chips made in house. While running errands in Elyria, I had to stop here because I was craving a Cuban sandwich with some chicken. I had DoorDash from here a couple times and fell in love with it. I wanted to come here to see what the establishment was like. It has such a vibrant, Downtown Havana-like feel if you will. There is a personal touch to this place with names drawn onto the walls. As for the food itself, this is one of the few places in my immediate vicinity where I can get a Cuban sandwich, and it is one of my favorite sandwiches. The meat is juicy, the bun is perfectly toasted, and the mustard leaves a delectable tang. The chicken and rice and black beans were also delicious, but the crown jewel itself is the Cuban sandwich. Most importantly the lady at the front was so nice and refilled my Pepsi for free. People like that are what keeps small businesses alive. read more

The tostones were fresh and crunchy, and the ropa vieja was tender, seasoned so well, and full of flavor. You can really taste the love in the food. i went there once, was surprised that a single lunch sandwich was $13.50 plus tax. i told the girl at the counter that i only wanted the sandwich and not the platter. She said that is only the sandwich. The sandwich was dry and on the small side for $14.00. i doubt this place will stay open very long, I pass by everyday at lunch and the place is a ghost town. don't waste your up money to time. read more

I am horrified. This place is horrible and the owner is abusive. We ordered our food and then waited about 30 minutes to eat. Ok not a horrible wait. The food was tasteless and dry. We tried a few bites of everything on the plates. Even a second bite just to see if it might of been a bad bite. We asked for a refund because we didn't eat more then 6 bites of food. The owner asked if we wanted something else. We responded with no thank you. We got our refund and went to walk out. The owner stopped us at the door and threatened to post us on line if we posted a bad review! He followed us out and to my car. He kept yelling at us and threatened to expose us because we didn't like his food. He told us we would basically pay if we wrote this review. Okay I had Pernil and it was very good could use a little more black pepper. However it was great. Tostines was delicious, but the dipping sauce could use a little more garlic. The maduros was very good and made perfectly. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was a little bright and could be a little more dimmer. The music playing in the background was great. The rice and beans was not done and was a little crunchy and could have been cooked another 4 to 5 minutes and use a little less smoke. I do recommend that they should not charge full price for refills on drinks, maybe half price but never full price for someone that is dining in. I had the Tampa Cuban with rice and black beans along with the Frites...the Cuban was perfect (the pork was tender and tasty) , the rice a and beans were nicely seasoned and authentic, the Frites were crispy and delicious...and Don't get me started on the green sauce!...my husband had the baked chicken meal with black beans and tostones, he enjoyed everything.. the chicken was very juicy and just plain yummy, the beans were seasoned nicely (which in my experience at other Cuban restaurants is usually lacking) and the tostones were cooked perfectly. They get their ingredients from a restaurant supply place, and possibly other food service vendors. But I enjoyed it. Not super cheap, but not insanely expensive, either by modern standards. I wanted to love this place and was so excited for my DoorDash order. I'm usually very honest for newer restaurants but I have to be honest. I ordered the pernil, congris, and tostones. The pernil was tasty but very oily. The tostones tasted like the were cooked in old grease and just sitting for a while. They were not fresh tasting at all. The congris was weird. It tasted burnt and the rice was crispy. I must have gotten the bottom of the pot rice or it was literally burnt. The Cuban was so oily/buttery that it made the sandwich soggy. Again, I wanted the love the place but I was let down the flavors were "almost" there but didn't quite hit the mark for this yelper. Sorry. We met up with friends to try this Cuban restaurant for the first time it used to be a Burger King and they've been open for about 5 months you order and pay at the counter and they bring your food out to your table the food was delicious comes out nice and hot I had the #4 and the pork was tasty they just need to get better tables and chairs they are using the old Burger King furniture I recommend this place and let's support our Latino business read more

We visited Cubano King on a friday at 12:30pm. First off you order from a kiosk ok no problem. Ordered a beef and chicken postelito. "Sorry we are out of beef and chicken we only have cheese". Ok I'll take 2 cheese. And rice & beans. The other people in our party ordered the same cheese postelitos, a Cuban & the #7. The "owner/manager" was on the phone laughing it up the entire time the 4 of us were standing in line waiting for our food. Customer service was 0. We were the only 4 people in the entire place. We decided to find a table lol. The server I guess she was a server ,was outside walking back and forth talking on her phone and smoking. After 15 minutes I decided to go get our food from the counter. Manager/owner still on phone laughing. Again not even acknowledging any of us. We get our own food, take it to the broken old Burger King table that we were sitting at and the server finally comes over and asks if we need anything. There's no saving this at this point. And the food. Just no. None of it. Nacho cheese in the Luke warm pastelitos, Rice and beans were un-eatable. The Cuban sandwich was soggy and drenched in mustard, and the #7 had a hair in eat.
