This place was okay. Nothing wrong at all. Food was average ... wasn't bad by any means but also was just average. Nothing to write home about. Prices were reasonable. Staff was nice and helpful. Place was clean. I got the chili cheese dog. It was ok. Just a standard chili cheese dog. I got the potato skins - the potatoes were great, but the cheese was nacho cheese and not very good and the bacon wasnt either. Very average. The gyro - it was fine. A lot of meat. Sauce was great. Pita was okay. Very average gyro. Broccoli soup - not my cup of tea. It was too watery for me. But it was not bad. Baklava - it was good. My favorite part of the meal. It was good but also wasn't as authentic as I've had before. I'm conclusion - the food wasn't bad. But it also wasn't great. Reasonable prices and clean restaurant. I'd go again - and would recommend it to someone who's in a rush and wants food fast for decent prices. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who wants authentic and delicious Greek cuisine. read more

This place might look a little divey from the outside, and inside, but the food is great!!! The customer service was a little lacking the first time I came in. I stayed to the side, out of sight and looked over the menu. When I was ready, I approached the counter and waited well over a minute to be acknowledged. I saw that the female worker was busy putting together a to-go order, but even a "Hello" or an "I'll be with you in just a moment" would have made me feel like an appreciated customer. Both times I've been there, the food was piping hot and tasted great!! The fries are perfectly crisp. The chicken gyro is stuffed with hot, grilled chicken and smothered with their yummy tzatziki sauce. When I took my boyfriend there, he said, "I can't believe we haven't come here sooner!!!" He loved it, too!! Good prices, great food. Bummed that they are closed on Sundays though. $5 minimum on credit cards. If you are coming from downtown and take the road that turns into a one way at the bridge, make sure you turn left into the parking lot on the left before you reach the stop sign. The street at the sign is one way and you're not supposed to turn left- therefore can't go towards the Gyro House!!! read more

I rarely get close to the Gyro House these days so I hadn't been here for a long time. It is an old favorite, though. I finally made it back again. As always the selection was broad, with a selection of typical diner fare (burgers, fries, etc) along with cool Greek offerings. Of course I had the signature Gyro platter. It's STILL the best Gyro anywhere in the area. I topped it off with a piece of awesome baclava, with all of its nutty gooey goodness. The 2 young ladies behind the counter were attentive, friendly and helpful. As far as the decor or atmosphere, that's not why I was there. It doesn't even aspire to be "fancy". It was clean, bright with background music suitable for the business. What else is there to say? A variety of good, well prepared food, great prices, friendly staff, and a clean place to enjoy it. Okay I was in the mood for a gyro...i literally typed "gyro" in my GPS and this place popped up. I have never been here before and the place is kinda a hidden hole in the wall. It really doesn't look like much from the outside and inside needs an update, but its clean. I ordered a regular gyro and large fries. I got it to go. I have to say that the gyro is one of the best I've ever had! The flavor was amazing and the cucumber sauce was very creamy. I would highly recommend that you stop at this place! You can dine in here, there are plenty of tables to sit at. The prices are really reasonable for what you get. The staff was very friendly and helpful with explaining different items on the menu. The Gyro House in Elyria, Ohio Service - Though the staff was rather busy with the sizable crowd and the preparation of large and sometimes complex orders, not only did they put my party's order in expediently, but the staff was rather friendly. Though I will admit that it took awhile for our meals to arrive, the wait was minimal in the end: 7/10 Environment - This particular restaurant was built decades ago, and it certainly shows in the decor. The 70's notorious wood paneling was prevalent throughout the spacious dining area, however it came off as charming and quaint. And, because of the restaurant and owner's Grecian background (as one might expect from a gyro joint) pictures of Greek landscapes and buildings are scattered around the room. Certainly nothing special, but it is something nice to look at as you enjoy your meal. Not to mention basic cleanliness was there as it needed to be, but the place is slightly worn down because of the building's age: 6/10 Other: Though not located in the best part of town, the Gyro House is not only a staple of the area (and the city for that matter), but it has a claw machine game as well as a hunting shoot-em-up game to keep younger customers entertained. Not to mention you can read about the restaurant's history through a newspaper clipping on the wall. The establishment burned down in 2006, but the committed owner repaired it all and opened it back up for business in a matter of months: 8/10 Now for the most important part... THE FOOD! Food - As will be customary for food reviews on this account, I will often try to review the restaurant's "staple", if you will, it's most famous item. So I ordered a plain gyro and fries. Though the fries were nothing special, they were pretty good; thick and crisp. The gyro is a different story though. I'm no lamb meat connoisseur, but I was very pleased. The lamb was soft and tender, not to mention seasoned with a small array of spices, which complimented everything well. I have to say that the Gyro here is probably amongst the best Gyros I have had before. You wouldn't imagine a place that is essentially bare to have some amazing food, but this place does it.
