Larva found in my food

My wife and I decided to give this restaurant a try. At first things were going well. We were seated right away and the hostess/server was polite. They played calming music and overall we liked the atmosphere. We order the spicy wings to start and they were pretty good. It's hard to mess up fried chicken so I was pleased but not impressed. The problem started when we received our entrees. My wife order the general tso chicken and the chicken was undercooked. I ordered the pan fried noodles and they tasted okay. But then I noticed what looked like larva in my plate and after studying it further I realized that's exactly what it was. I told the server and she looked embarrassed but had no issues taking it off our bill. Needless to say I will not be going back to this restaurant. If you eat here just examine your food.

The food here is a little more expensive, but it's better than Great Taste. I wish they put more filling in their crab rangoons and made beef teriyaki a combo plate option. Had their "general tsao's chicken" recently and I would say the meat could be better quality and the outside was kind of soggy. They also charge more for pork fried rice and u have to request just fried rice to avoid hidden fees. I recommend the beef teriyaki, beef and broccoli, fried rice, and the egg rolls are generally good.

Very good basic Chinese food. My son loves their soup and he hates most soup because it tastes "fake".

I have never had a bad meal here, and I always try to be adventurous and try something new each time. With that being said, I always get an order of the Chongqing diced chicken. It is one of my fave dishes of all time (be warned, it is SPICY. Not for the faint of heart). The sauteed pig intestine with chili is another fave of mine. The dining area is spacious and cute, and the staff here is always incredibly nice and knowledgeable. Very helpful when there is a lot of dishes you might not be familiar with ! When we went inside, there was only one other party there and no music, so just whispers and the sounds of utensils against plates. There are about 4-5 booths and 1-2 regular tables to choose from. Since l am not familiar with Sichuan cuisine, I had Al help me choose my dishes. I went with the dumplings in chili sauce, fried rice, eggplant in garlic sauce, and chongquin chicken. While we waited, we were given water. The dishes came out at different times. They first served us the dumplings which were really good. The sauce they were in did have some chili sauce, but it was mostly like a sweet soy sauce and really tasty. It came with about 6 dumplings with a perfectly cooked wrapper and filled with flavorful pork - simple but delicious. Next was the eggplant. I was expecting a heavy garlic presence, but it was more like a sweet and sour sauce. The eggplant was very tender, but really hot so we had to wait to let it cool down a bit. The rice came after. I honestly think this was one of my favorite dishes since it was perfectly cooked, great flavor, and good portion. Lastly, the chicken came out. There was a large pile of chicken, but half of it was peppers. The chicken was cut into little bite sized pieces, each fried perfectly. Some pieces were more tongue numbing than others but it was nothing aggressive; very gentle and comfortable numb. I would have liked if there were music, but the no music was fine too; an escape from chaotic reality. Our total was around $50, which wasn't bad for the amount of food we got. I would come back to try other items.

We asked for waters as well and let the waiter, who was always available, know when we needed a refill. Everything we ordered was tasty, fresh, well prepared and nicely presented. I had expected a bit more spice on some of the dishes, but they were all very mild, so if you are worried about Sichuan spiciness or heat, you can put that worry to rest. Chopsticks only are at the table and although we didn't ask for forks, I suspect they could rustle some up for you if needed. The hot & sour soup is good according to my SO who gets it everywhere (and will let me know if it's a thumbs up or down). The décor is lovely and everything is clean, including the gender neutral restroom. The staff we encountered were all very pleasant and service was excellent. They have an extensive menu so I'm going to give the benefit that some dishes may be better. We ordered the hot and sour soup which was nice and vinegary. Full of tofu and vegetables. We also ordered the mapo tofu and the Chongqin chicken. Tofu was ok. I expected it to be spicier. It's just tofu and sauce with green onions. Tofu was silky. Chicken was good. Pieces were nicely deep fried and juicy. I also didn't find it spicy despite being told it was spicy. They charge $1.95 per bowl of rice. Overall an ok place for me. Not in a hurry to return but if I do, I'd like to explore some of their other dishes.

The thing I've always liked about LaMei is that they always have fresh options. For AYCE the portions are pretty good. I wasn't expecting to get as much as I did for an order, so something to think about when placing orders. Sometimes you might get a couple of lonely mushrooms or 3 green leaves for a serving of Bok Choy. That was not the case here. The fish and meats were fresh and if you opt for the VIP option, there are appetizers included to nibble on while you cook your other stuff. You also get some more premium options and the hand pulled noodles had a nice chew to them. The service was good. They were efficient with cleaning plates as we used them and the food came out quickly. The sauce station has all the staples you'd expect to assemble your sauce. The AYCE option makes things a bit more affordable, but even if you don't use it, the fresh food will make it worthwhile.

Upon walking in, the atmosphere was light and bright without being overwhelming. The dining area was very clean and well kept. Unlike many other places, it did not feel worn and unkept. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive and greeted us and asked for our drink order immediately. The menu contained typical Cantonese fare and seemed to have something for just about everyone. To me, the mark of a "great" Chinese restaurant is measured by the quality and taste of their egg rolls. We kept it light and ordered chicken chow mein, pork fried rice egg rolls and chicken fingers with brown gravy. It was our first time and we felt safe trying the basics. The egg roll was AMAZING! Very fresh, very tasty without a need to drown it in duck sauce, and most of all, it wasn't greasy. This was a great start! The rest of the food came out shortly after and was equally terrific. Very fresh, very flavorful and not greasy. There was also enough to make at least another full meal of all of it again. The owner and staff are extremely friendly, and have a long background in the business...and it shows. There is pride in their facility, their food and their service. Don't let this one pass you by.

Staff greeted us and got to see it real quick. We and another party was only ones there lunch time. Probably more take out than dine in. Menu selection was huge, so much to choose from. My gf is from china so picked out some noteworthy dishes to try and they did not disappoint! 4/5 stirfry bacon with bamboo shoots was excellent. The bacon is more like the fatty cross section of pork that's thinly sliced. It had a smoky flavor to it which mixes well with the crunchy bamboo and peppers. The spice level was also just right to give the dish a good kick. 3.5/5 fried intestines were also good but just didn't hit as well as the other dishes. Maybe just not crunchy enough. At least also spiced well. 5/5 Salted egg yolk with tofu... I could not stop eating this dish with rice. I don't know what kind of tofu they were using, but it was super silky, but it was also maintaining its form really well in firmness so doesn't break apart in contact. The salty egg yolk flavor balances out with the tofu and rice. It's so it's like a comfort food for me. 4.5/5 beef with Longhorn peppers, definitely on the spicy side, which I love. This dish was a bit softer than normal, but I was fine since we had rice to go with it. The beef strands mixed well with the thin sliced peppers so it was easy chew and the spice packs a punch. Overall, I love this place and will definitely come again when I'm around the area. The menu is so huge that I feel like I have to come back multiple times just to try 80% of the menu.

There's no menu posted anywhere (I posted one for reference) so we went in blindly and hoped for the best. Located off a sometimes busy North Main St - there is a parking adjacent to the restaurant as well as some street parking. We got there for an early Sat lunch so parking was plentiful. From what I could tell, it's a decent sized restaurant with good amount of seating. We were seated at a booth and were given menus - we told our waitress we wanted to do the AYCE and she went and grabbed a different menu - laminated sheet with the options you can mark off with a marker. We got a decent amount of options but what I loved was all the additional app/entree options. I like sushi but can't do shellfish so a lot of special rolls I can't consume - so greatly appreciated the vast variety of offerings. For apps - we ordered hot and sour soup, boneless ribs, shumai, crab rangoon and fried ravioli. Portions were good for AYCE as it shouldn't fill you up too much as you're there for the Sushay! My favorite was the ravioli - nice plump and juicy. The sushi rolls were good but I prefer the ones that aren't super doused in sauce. I don't do sashimi but the mister said it's not the best but not the worst he's had. It's def a huge bang for your buck here as sushi can tend to get expensive. Service was friendly and quick. The manager came over to check on us during our meal - which is always nice when management wants to ensure all is going well. There aren't too many AYCE options in RI (only 2 other I can think of) so nice to see another one pop up.
